I have heard some issues with root after having installed this new Firmware, and I have so far avoided making the update.
Does anyone have any experience?

I just rooted using CF-Auto-Root on Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, build number KOT49H.T900UEUANI1 and everything looks good so far!

Thanks eldoodorino. Did you use the CF-Auto-Root from the main site, marked KOT49H.T900XXUANB5, or a new one, made specifically for the KOT49H.T900UEUANI1, if the latter would you mind pasting a link to an I1 compatible version?

Don't needed. You can root the normal cf-auto-root with latest sock without problem.
After we pm chat last days about rollback to T900UEUAND4 as unique possibility for rooting, i decided to do a last try before that, and luckily works perfect:
-just did a factory reset to restore from B3 recovery i been trying to prev installed T900UEUANI1 stock, wipe caché with stock recovery, odined cf-auto-root and voilá, just rooted!
No need to do the old B3-rollback-prior-D4 method now. Just a normal auto-root with no hassling.

Seems like the listed cf-auto-root will work. And, yes it did, no problem what-so-ever in rooting the I1 with the B3 Auto Root

Thanks for this.

spontaneous resets
i had 2 o 3 resets per day with this stock rom, all was fine, the stock rom looks great, battery have long life, but many resets per day did me change to cm11, runs great but keyboard is not so great as stock and battery has less life per day.
somebody have this issue too?

From what I"ve read the resets are due to disabling Knox in SuperSU.

i disabled knox yes, seems the problem is on that way.
will try to install a fresh setup and try again.
thx for your answer @thebobmannh

I have not completely understood, I have a rooted Tab12 and have been forced to run, from TWRP, the only working rom I could find. Can I use this method to remove TWRP with Odin?

[UPDATE] 2.2.1 official through Kies 1.5.3.101_3.102 for CPW and XEU product codes

Woohoo!
Looks like the official 2.2.1 is on Kies now. I tried earlier today with Kies v100 but got
nothing, upgraded Kies to v102 and got told I've got a firmware upgrade available!
Downloading now.
I'm on CPW product code in the UK. I haven't done anything to my registry settings or installed the Kies Patcher.
Get Kies v102 from here I don't think older versions will show you anything
Whats the version seen?
Already posted?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885884
Ok, yeah just saw that, but this should also let people know its available for CPW too. If Mods want to delete this thread, I'm fine with it. Cheers

Kindly post the details between the test build JPY and the official Kies released JPY
Any changes have done ?
or its the same ROM which was avialble through reg hack couple of days back?
Is this a diffrent ROM....
Kindly post it
What build details? From the About Phone options under Settings?
It says
Firmware: 2.2.1
Baseband: I9000XXJPY

And after dialling *#1234# I get:

CSC: I9000OXAJPY
Build Info: 2010.12
What about *#*#44336#*#* ?

Ok, didn't know about that code. Just tried it and looks like its EXACTLY the same!
Good news so no need to re-install then
Looks like it is the same, which is slightly disappointing as I would have hoped they'd addressed the wifi issue that's causing excess battery drain.
Does the product code stay the same of does it change to KOR as it did with the hack?

Mine stayed XEU, used registry hack. Even did a factory reset after upgrade (because product code did change to KOR when i upgraded to JPO and did a factory reset) and it stayed XEU.
I also do not have any draining problem (not because of wifi anyways), the battery is not so good as it was in JPO, but i'm getting 2-2,5 days of normal use and hoping that after some charging cycles it will be better.
XEU phone here, even checked the /efs folder and all references are XEU.
Grabbed Kies v102, installed and checked no spoof in the registry by reading it with registry patcher.
Plug in phone, launch Kies, finds the phone, firmware update - JPX is the latest apparently. What are people coming from? Perhaps it only works on JPO (last official release, right?).
This ROM has serious battery problems, 6 hours on standby with wifi off today and it had died!
That's terrible battery usage. Did you factory reset, clean cache and format internal sd? Running any mods etc? Sounds like there's a problem, and I don't think it's the ROM as most peoples experiences are much better than that. SGS Tools on the market may shed some more light on what is using up the battery for you.
Battery usage (from about phone):
Display: 85%
Cell standby: 7%
Wi-fi: 5% (wtf it's disabled?)
Phone idle: 3%
Have never factory set my phone, tbh the whole point of Android updates is you shouldn't need to. Consider typical user (e.g. non techie) updates via Kies and gets this issue, what then?
I'll backup with Titanium and give a factory reset a try...
what's difference between factory reset and hard reset? which is better after a firmware upgrade?

Ppl with battery problems, please disable any lag-fix and see how that goes.
I am using stock JPY without any lag-fix and my battery is fine really.
(wifi on all the time)
Same as JPO tbh.
it seem like ppl using darkky's lagfix are having battery problems.

Latest Firmware

Sorry for being such a noob but I have never ordered a device internationally before. Anyways I have just rooted my device (SM-P605) and I'm curious what the latest firmware is because I don't believe I get OTA upgrades here in the States. Right now I'm running Android 4.3 on baseband version P605XXUBMJ4 and Build Number JSS15J.P605ZSUBMJ6.
Is there a newer version I should be using? Trying to check via the official bounces me to Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available.
Also, are there plans for Kit Kat in the future? Or perhaps there already is a mod that includes the latest version of Android.
MJ9 is the Latest i guess

Yes, but no release date is set, or known by us. Samsung said "soon".

How do I manually upgrade to MJ9? Do I need to un-root and flash to stock before doing anything. I also notice that my basebuild and build are running different numbers. How did that happen, is it a problem, and how do you fix it?

I'd also like to know if there is a specific version of the upgrade that I need to download. Region specific. I don't want to brick it. Will any download of P605XXUBMJ9 run perfectly on this device? Do I also need a certain file to upgrade the baseband?

You will not brick it, in the worst case you'd have to flash it again with another CSC. CSC is the region of your device. For a close shot, forget about the country and either flash US firmwares if your device is US, or EU firmwares if your device is anywhere from Europe.
No, it is included in the firmware file. There is absolutely no reason to look for a baseband file (or RIL).
Unless your driver somehow got screwed, which usually happens when you install wrong, or badly matched kernels. In that case you will hear very disturbed sound (this error is very clear, if you get this problem, you know 100% that it is there. It isn't like "did i hear a scratch in my speaker for a second?").
thatblokematti said:

Get Odin, get the drivers, read the instruction. Just the usual odin procedure.
You don't need to unroot/re-stock, but if you are very paranoid, you can use a custom recovery to wipe /system before flashing (don't do it unless you know you need it. If you don't - you don't need to do it. I am only telling you this because you might want it in the future when you try many different modded ROMs).
Baseband and build v. can differ, this is not a problem nor something you should worry about.

No there isnt. When KitKat comes we get Multiuser Support.
You can't downgrade the bootloader.
Flashing an older firmware that the bootloader doesn't support will end up with a tablet hanging on the samsung logo. Just need to reflash newer firmware to fix
Flashing a bootloader for another device - you might as well throw it off a highrise and hope it still works when it hits bottom...
P600 and P601 roms WILL NOT work with the P605. It's like trying to use helicopter parts to fix a car engine....

Multi User Functionality / Firmwares

Dear all,
I'm starting this thread because I understand that many of us are interested on multi user functionality on Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition.
I will start by mentioning the things I've learned so far, regarding the Wi-Fi model (SMP600). I think that more or less the same applies to the 3G & LTE models as well.
- European Models have the MJ9 firmware
- Some have the MK1 update, but this doesn't add multi user functionality
- The US MK1 firmware (P600UEUBMK1), adds the multi user functionality
My understanding is that we can all flash the US MK1 firmware via odin, without tripping the Knox counter. Recently I flashed an EGY MK1 firmware on my EUR galaxy, without any issues at all.
But, can anybody confirm that the US MK1 multi user works? I remember reading somewhere that it was problematic.
So lets discuss all this here, if its ok with you.

Yeah EU/UK are still on old firmware, i reckon we wont get an update until whenever we get KitKat now so could be a few months away before we get Multi-user support. Just have to wait unfortunatly.

Who is to blame for the regional update delays really? Is it Samsung decision to not release them OTA everywhere or is it the lack of interest regionally?
well i decided to finally flash the MK1 XAR*fw on my "Greek" galaxy and Im using it for some days now without any problems.
switching between users is fast and without any freeze issues at all. I dont have the re-enabled bloatware issue, but I have them disabled in both profiles anyway.
Also no knox triggered and everything official and smooth.

Except for restricted profiles still missing. So if you want to create another profile for kids, guests etc, you still need to log in with a Google account if you want to install apps. And if you want to install some apps you've bought on your main account, then that account must be your main Google account meaning shared search history, calendar, Gmail etc.
Sucks but well... This is Samsung

Have any of you tried the switchme app? It exactly what your all looking for as far a security between multiple users. The pro version is the way to go tho, as the free version won't support the security features. I use to use it on my old note 10.1 and it worked perfectly.

i have the p605 and i have multi user.... how? well im rooted and have xposed framework installed and there is a module called Multiple Users for Phone, this says its for AOSP only but works perfectly fine on the 605..... i tried it on my note 3 on stock samsung rom and it cracked a s***, on the p605 though it does seem to glitch and go slow at switching.... i get the feeling its not meant to work or something..... hope this make afew people happy to learn this
Multi-user now also works on my Note 10.1 - 2014 using KitKat (SPAIN FW)
Now for all of you out there also waiting for the Multi-User option. I was waiting for it as well, but wasn't confident Samsung would include it in the 4.4 Stock update, and it was missing in the original 4.3 Stock FW. Excellent news, since the Multi-user option is now actually there in the KitKat 4.4 update for the SM-P600/WiFi/32Gb (as it is on my other tablet, the Sony Z2 Tablet, which was delivered with 4.4 from the start).

Update. I tried to flash this on my US Note 10.1 2014 edition and it failed!. I really had a hard time trying to flash any previous Stock rom after that too (NK1; NK2)-they all fail. I did manage to flash TWRP and do a previous rom restore.
I just wonder if the "Unknown" version description does not mean it still in 'beta'?
Any ideas why this is not working?

That's an interesting version. It seems Samsung has changed a lot in this firmware. Normally a higher letter (XXUC->XXUD) could mean a higher Android version, but it's still 4.4.2. So another reason is a lot of under the hood changes.

I installed this on my Australian P600 and it's no longer able to recognise my 5GHz (and hence WifI AC) network but connects fine on 2.4GHz. Everything else seems fine. Previously I was running BRI firmware and 5GHz worked well.
Ok, just installed Bootloader and Kernel on Note S ROM. It feels smoother than the previous version.

Dear readers, We would like to point out that all Samsung Galaxy TabPRO variants 12.2 - 10.1 - 8.4 will get the same Android 5.1.1 Lollipop build in the next few weeks. We have no ETA for any region yet, but TabPRO 10.1 is next.

had to odin mine twice to get it to take. Slow to start up but I think it's OK.
So, what are the impressions?
What's different, performance, cosmetic and battery wise?
Worth it to upgrade?
Thanks!
I am downloading now, probably 1 hour left, then I will odin immediately and let everybody know how it runs. Now I currently run the CyanogenMod Rom 5.1.1, so I won't be able to tell you how it runs compared to stock.

I CAME FROM THE 12.1 CyanogemMod ROM. AND DID NOT flash back to a stock rom. As one other mentioned, the first odin flash did not complete. So after flashing the new 5.1.1 ROM for a second time everything worked perfectly.
Just from early observations Samsung gave us a home run with this firmware compared to previous versions. Everything has amazing responsiveness. I really like how they have the new split screen icons to chose in the upper right corner for apps that can support it. Too soon to tell about battery life, but I think Samsung did all right this time around for us., and a long wait it was.
I also had to flash this bad boy 2 times to get it up and running. The first time. It showed the "Galaxy Tap Pro" screen then a big black nothing. And I let it sit there for a while. So i gave it the 1 finger salute. Followed by the 3 finger salute and then volume up and flashed again. This time it got to the Samsung screen YAY. and currently at updating apps 181 of 260
I flashed yesterday and looking nice. for the moment battery life is normal . Need same more time to investigate.
Anyone figured out how to root this thing? I was expecting this to wipe my tablet but t did not. Thats ok. but I also lost root. And when i flash CF root. I get a boot loop.

I tried with flashing TWRP and that went ok, but when I flashed SUsuper user, I boot looped too! After that I was scared to try CF Autoroot. I think this 5.1.1 may be a different animal than the 5.0.1 that the p-900 users have. When I boot into TWRP it has 'Not enforcing SE linix' in red letters at the top right of the screen, as TWRP is starting up. I don't know if that is significant or not tho. I couldn't find anything about root being different in the note pro forums. Maybe someone will figure it out and point us in the right direction.

Thanks for report. Which TWRP version did you use?
My guess is it has to do with the bootloader. On my ATT S5 the requirements to have root are to stay on the Kit Kat bootloader... Maybe someone can extract the update image and see if the new system partition will run on the current bootloader, and install Super SU through TWRP if so... I don't have a 12.2 so I can't check.

I used oden 3.10.6. Has anyone tried kingroot? I have never heard of it until this trouble.
Also there is no 5ghz wifi option. I suppose it's because its the UK release.
Is there a way to extract the system from this so that we can flash only the system, keeping our root?

the note pro version of 5.0.2 requires the lollipop bootloader to be flashed prior to the rom. (civz's rom) I havent tried to see if this one will run on the kk bootloader, i just assumed it wouldnt since theirs didnt. never know i guess. that is really beyond my skills anyway. Hopefully arcadia2uk will help find a solution. He may want to stay with CM tho.
looks like they had some success with flashfire on the p-900

im not sure how you flashed twrp. I've tried 3 times and it will not stick. using twrp-2.8.7.0-v2wifixx.img.tar from odin 3.07 no reset no reboot. i reboot after about 20 secs after it says its done.

I used oden 3.10.6 and the same TWRP 2.8.7.0 that you used. It did seem kinda flakey, but it stuck. Maybe it was the newer oden version? I am going to flash civz rom for the p-900 tommorow, just to see if it will work now that we have the LP bootloader. Its recieving high praise in their forum. I was on the p-900 hyperdrive rom before this update, and it was amazing. sbreen and civz are masters at moding TW roms.
Well I just tried 3.10.6 and still nothing

Can someone here please mirror the DL? That link is awful. And then I went to stop the link and maybe upgrade to a premium download and it took me to some Russian website and there's no way I'm putting any of my CC info on that website. And then I go back to the slow DL and it says I have to wait an hour?
