[UPDATED][10/23/2014] Bricked to the Bone D801 (T-Mobile LG G2) - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

LG D801 (T-Mobile) Bricked[/U][/B]
The device has been bricked and is in this condition:
Download mode shows as dots and is not recognized by Windows (only occasionally as "Unknown Device")
No custom recovery (it has been wiped in fastboot)
No ROM (system was wiped)
It makes a nice paperweight
Click to collapse
This device does not allow fastboot, unless there is a software issue (which I cannot purposely cause without ADB in a custom recovery).
I have tried every set of drivers on Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) and am unable to change the COM port to 41 because the device isn't recognized at all (it was being recognized last night, but the version of Windows I have didn't have ANY options to change the COM serial port).
No, a rooting method will not work (I'm a Recognized Developer, so trust me).
I have Linux and Windows 7 dual-booting.
I have used everything [URL="http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda%2FLG+G2%2FStock%2F"]HERE

.
I have also tried THIS driver method (when the device was actually visible on Windows, but the driver never successfully installed).
I manually repartitioned the device using this method on Ubuntu, but accidentally used the stock recovery image.
I am trying to use this method, for Windows, with no luck (because of the phone not being recognized on Windows).
I have tried a friend's desktop with no luck. I have used different USB ports and cables, as well.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Especially if I could somehow trigger fastboot.

So you flashed LG's stock recovery, can you actually boot into that?

It just sticks at the "Processing factory reset..." message.
I need a miracle here, haha.

Your download mode works if there are no blue circles when you start it.
Try installing ubuntu, knoppix etc under vmware and see if it gives you any errors.
also under windows watch the devices under device manager.

Oh if his download mode is just hanging at the loading screen but never gets to the loading circle it's most definitely a goner, considering his recovery hangs that probably confirms he dd'ed the wrong bootstack.
@MikeCriggs Check if you have fastboot mode when you try loading recovery or download mode (as the bootloader's fallback) - if not you need to RMA. No big deal I've killed 2 so far via bootloadery mischief.

Is there a JTAG like device out there that can fix this phone's hard bricks?

[Q] D802 Bricked, computer won't recognize it

Hi,
I recently updated to the official 4.4.2 kitkat update.I then proceeded to root the phone, and then stupidly, installed CWM. I rebooted, and was greeted with an endless LG Splash screen. Now, I tried a HEAP of ways to restore to stock, all of them returning the same problem, my computer won't pick up my phone. In download mode, nothing happens, nothing in device manager, and same when I'm stuck on the LG splash screen. When I go into CWM, it then recogizes my phone, but the methods of restoring to stock won't work with CWM running in the background. CWM also won't let me mount the usb...
The methods return the same error: Phone not detected, please plug the USB cable and retry.
Ubuntu won't recognize the phone in all three modes, and another computer does the same thing. (Both Windows 8)
Methods of stock restoration tried:
-KDZ
-LGMobile support tool
-Ubuntu (This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142)
Can anyone help?

Was your phone able to connect to the PC afterwards? I have a D800 that I am unable to get any PC to recognize. I need to restore it to stock but no matter what I do it does not show up in device manager (and I have a working rom on it).

Yes, it does work now. I was able to restore to stock by adb pushing phillz recovery, and then flashing that, then adb pushing the stock ROM. Everything works as it should, now.

Does it recognize your phone when it's in the custom recovery? That was the only way I could do it on my phone.
Good luck!

I have the same problem as listed in this thread. Tried everything to SHort circuit the chip. Basically everything.
I think the last thing i haven't try is dump it into the bin.

Yes. I even got access to the folder "image" once. Unfortunately it only shows "USB device not recognized" now.
Download vmWare, ubuntu, install ubuntu inside the vmware. Try performing factory reset(if the black screen happens while performing the reset, ok..), just connect it.
Does it show errors inside ubuntu ?
^try and report.

Bricked D800

Yesterday I purchased an ATT LG G2. Not content to leave anything alone, I rooted and installed recovery as soon as I got home. I used some unfamiliar techniques with this phone, but I assumed they were new.
Root - Towelroot
Recovery - AutoRec
I rebooted after installing towelroot and everything seemed fine. AutoRec seemed to install fine as well but later when I went to reboot problems arose.
I can't enter download mode. The phone is stuck in fastboot mode. In Windows it's recognized as an unknown Android device. Ubuntu/Knoppix do not recognize it at all. These two facts have prevent me from attempting many of the recovery methods available here on XDA.
I cannot enter recovery. Factory resetting does not work either, instead it dumps me right back into the fastboot mode.
Any advice? If I could at least get a machine to properly recognize the device I could attempt some of the recovery methods.
Some other interesting facts:
-Connected to Windows:
--Fastboot mode started
--udc_start()
--reset
--portcharge
--reset
--portcharge
-Connected to Linux (10.04 Ubuntu)
--Fastboot mode started
--udc_start()
--reset
--portcharge
--reset
--portcharge
--fastboot: processing commands
I have made several more attempts to install the drivers properly. None have been effective so far. My device is shown an "Android" with the yellow warning symbol when connected. I followed the supplementary instructions to choose the lgx64bus.inf. It provides many additional options however most of them do not work.
I had this problem;
Look through this thread.

Unfortunately my problem is a little different. I cannot access recovery mode.

I'm using a new MBPr running W7 in a bootcamp partition. I've tried using both of the available USB ports. I've downloaded the TOT file twice and I've tried it from two different external sources (Thumdrive, USB3 External). No luck from either. There's no room left on the bootcamp partition so I have to use an external source.
I'm certain I have a D800, also confirmed by bender_007. I'm also certain I'm using the correct DLL and TOT. I've also tried twly.o different cables.
The only thing I can think of are that some of the drivers installed when I was working with bender_007 are interfering with the drivers. I need to be using. I'll try that now actually...

That sounds like what one would expect in Qualcomm qhsusb_bulk mode as it's trying to mount a bunch of "drives" that are actually partitions. Do you see that? If no, try expanding the entire device tree in device manager so you can see everything.

Well that's not a great sign. You long pressed power (15-20 seconds) to power off the device before trying download mode again right? If so, I'm not sure what to suggest.

Damn. I don´t have knowledge to go through that process.
It's not as difficult as you might think. I've had my phone broken down far further than that to do an LCD replacement. If you do end up going that route, check carefully the model # markings once you remove the back cover. If you've owned your D802 for a short time, there have been many cases of D802's being sold with D800/D801 hardware inside.

Yeah that plus it not showing as bulk in Windows is not typical of the more easily fixable conditions. Strange that it does show bulk mode in the Ubuntu VM. I'm assuming you already tried to add that as a device as your popup described? That would need to be done. The only other option would be to try booting Ubuntu (or other distro) from a usb stick and see if your results change. But some distros have had issues recognizing bulk.

First person with that problem
Sorry but that really gave me a giggle. That's what I think when my drivers won't install. Drivers are a headache, you need a lot of patience with this.
Go to the back to stock thread and download the LGUnitedmobile drivers.
Install them and then try connecting in download mode again.
It doesn't always work straight away, keep trying until windows accepts them.
The fact that your phone is charging is a good sign. Good luck

Good luck

Have you tried pdanet drivers? They work well.
You need to delete the lg drivers from device manager.
Then install pdanet and reboot your pc.
Try connecting that way.

Even if it doesn't pick up your phone it should return something like this:
/dev/sda /dev/sda1 etc.
Nothing like that?
I love beers but you don't have to do that. If we can get this fixed I'll be happy.

If not work please install lg driver in windows 7 pc then plug phone in download mode and take screenshote for dovice manager and put it her then try to boot it and again take another screenshote
I think he might have to do that. If ubuntu doesn't mount his phone then there's a problem.
It's late now and I'm going to bed. Best of luck Dan.
