WiFi passwords forgotten after reboot - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't know if this topic has already been covered. I didn't see it in a wick scan of the forum.
My S5 won't remember Wi-Fi passwords after I reboot. As long as I don't reboot, I can go from location to location and it automatically connects to wireless networks that I've connected to. But if I reboot, it makes me enter the password again.
Has anyone else had this issue? If so, us there a known fix?
I am rooted. I have tried forgetting networks and commenting to them again. As soon as I reboot, it's like I never connected to any networks. I have to reenter all wireless passwords.

I had the wifi password issue and battry life sucked. I cleared cache partition, the reflashed the ni2 firmware from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2842069
and now my phone "issues" are gone.
And my phone is back to lasting over a day.

I think you didn't flash the new Modem that go with your ROM

Explain?

I followed the destructions to the letter

Yeah this happened to me make sure that the rom you are flashing matches the firmware u are on. ie if u are on ni2 make sure u don't flash an nc2 rom vice versa.

[Q] Help! Purchased unlocked i5800 have questions

Hello, I purchase a i5800 phone and the wifi worked fine on it for the first week. Now it says... "unable to scan". can some one tell me what that means... I turn the wifi on, scan for networks.. ( I have wireless here in my home .. in the middle of nowhere) and it will not scan for my home network.
I purchased the phone, unlocked for my At&t account. I have NO cell service in my area, but I want to access the downloades and etc for my phone at home..
any ideas..
I don't understand the "root" thing.. so please talk to me like I am lacking..
Yes I am in the USA... I have had the phone for 2 months and just figured out it is a UK phone. so I am doubly frustrated.
I tried Samsung USA they sent me to UK.. never heard back from them and it would NOT recognized my IEMI

Try flashing u're device to some other working firmware ..
Tht might solve your problem
You could just flash the US firmware for the device, that should solve atleast any of the location-specific issues.

I'll edit this post
here, from the thread "Wifi Not Working" (maybe you should have checked that out first:

you have to be roooted:
delete or rename(i suggest an extension change with the date) bcm_supp.conf in /data/wifi/
I suggest using root explorer, terminal is also an option.
warning, you will lose saved wifi networks/passwords.
you can open the file to retrieve some passwords.
if you have a titanium backup of system data i think you could restore it with that, not sure about it.

No signal after unrooting

So i rooted my nexus 4, and noticed that there is an unlocked lock thing beneath the splash screen when it boots up, didnt notice it before so i decided to unroot, using fastboot oem lock. Then when my phone started it wouldnt get any signal at all, no 3g 2g HSPA nothing. And it wont connect to wifi either. The wifi would turn on and when i try to connect to a network, it would cycle between obtaining ip adress and authenticating, but wouldnt connect. I dont know what to do? i tried factory resetting, unlocking the bootloader, locking it again, rebooting the phone countless times, but nothing would connect. I dont know whats wrong with it.
P.S. bluetooth is working fine if that makes a diffrence
Reset the radio? Although I don't see how a factory reset wouldn't have done that. *#*#4636#*#* and select reset
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
im trying but clicking turn off radio does nothing

The unlock icon indicates a unlocked bootloader. I started seeing it in mine after unlocking, but don't have any issues as a result of that.
IAC, your lack of signal is not due to the unlocked bootloader, go ahead and do it again!
Hmm, this could be worthy of further investigation if others get it - it's exactly what would happen on Samsung devices when they lose their IMEI and Serial number. This exact scenario happened on my SGS2 before I knew I needed to back up the EFS stuff.

Can't switch on WiFi

Hi guys!
I had problems with my wifi and I found a solution online saying that I should delete these three folders:
/data/misc/wifi
/data/misc/dhcp
/etc/wifi
I done that and now the phone's WiFi cannot be switched on anymore (WiFi switch stays gray and cannot be turned on).
Is there anything I can do other than a factory reset or flashing phone?
Can anyone zip up those 3 folders and post them here?
Thanks !
Phone info:
Model: Note 4 N910C
Android version: 5.1.1
Phone is rooted.
Can someone please post these folders?

Do you have any custom recovery (CWM,TWRP,etc) ?
Don`t you have any backup (Nandroid) ?
If so , then restore the back up through the recovery.
If , not , then I think you`ve to flash stock firmware through Odin (at your own risk).
I have the same problem but i didnt deleted any folder. Just stopped working and i cant switch on wifi. Weird is that today when i was browsing google play from 4g data plan the window with wireless networks appeared and i was able to connect a wireless network. After 10 second was off again and the switch button is grey again. I am on stock 6.0.1 and not rooted. I think is a hardware problem probably the wifi+bt chip has some unsoldered pad to motherboard.

I don't think it is hardware problem. Restart and fully charge your phone and try to turn on wifi. Maybe you have some application (battery saver and similar) that prevent you to turn on wifi.

I'd take it into a Samsung Service Center and let them have a look at it. As there is obviously nothing you can do to repair the problem yourself.

I will try to repair it tonight by myself because i dont have guarantee anymore. I will post here the result maybe we can repair this error.
i tried last night . I heated the wifi chip until i was able to move it slowly and the let it cool. Surprise after reasembly wifi was working ok all night and today at work i saw the same problem .
I think we must change the wifi chip but i cannot find it to buy... Any help ? Anyone knows an app or something similar to see if the chip is detected by motherboard? I think it must be detected if the mac adress of the wifi board is displayed...

REG99 - Wifi calling error "unable to connect"

Anyone else having this error on tmobile? I tried removing and replacing sim, clearing cache partition, connecting to two different networks, and clearing the cache and data from the wifi calling app. It worked on my S6 edge, but now I cant seem to get it functional. when im connected to wifi I have no problems with data.
This happened to me when I was rooted and moved the su.img to the system partition (data partition was encrypted when the su.img was mounted). I removed it from the system partition and then wifi-calling worked again.
If not what is posted above. It's a Tmo problem in your area.

If you have good WiFi you should have WiFi calling anywhere. Check you CSC - should be TMB. Fooling around with some mods got mine changed and it would not connect.
I dont get it. If i'm anywhere but work, it works fine. If I'm home or connected to a friends hotspot, it works.
What is even more odd is if I take the sim out of my S7 edge and put it in my S6 edge, wifi calling works on there, even at work?

I take that back. Wifi calling isnt working on any network now.
I did root. Then I immediately wiped and flashed the stock firmware again... maybe I used the wrong CSC? Can I odin the CSC file alone again?

I ODIN'd the last one as part of setting up the whole PD8 firmware and it fixed my WiFi calling and have not really had any issues elsewhere with rooted PD8.

So you put "CSC_TMB_G935TTMB3APD8_CL7856276_QB9546824_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar" in the CSC section instead of home_csc_tmb?

Mobile Data not working after nougat update

Hi i am having a weird issue with my sprint S7. My mobile data is not working after the nougat update. the weird thing is the LTE icon is showing on top. And if i make a Wi-Fi hotspot the device connected to my hotspot does get internet access... if anyone can help or guide me, i will be grateful. thanks
P.S. i have checked APN settings, restarted and gone to air mode and back.
This reply isn't a help but ive had quite same issue but it's my wifi! It keeps disconnecting and reconnecting after the update. UGHHH and i hate the new font.
Had the same issue, update profile, update prl, perform hands free activation and restart the phone. Worked immediately after reboot.

can you link the theards with tutorial how to do this?
Same thing happened for me. I just rebooted my device and it fixed itself.
Data was working for me, but i couldn't send or receive mms. Mine was just a issue of making the domestic data available on the settings.
Don't know where tutorial is, just go to settings system updates and you'll see the profile and prl update options. Then go back to main settings and click active this device. Then reboot.
I tried everyones advise and my phone still isn't connecting to data.
