Post your Moto G 2nd Gen Speedtests - G 2014 General

Wondering how fast this little sucker will go!
My results are from TMobile's network in Michigan using the global Moto G:
13.3Mbps Down/2.55Mbps Up, 80ms Ping
Sent from my XT1063 using XDA Premium HD app

It does not mean anything.
These speed tests depend on too many factors like signal strength, how heavily loaded network, what data plan you have and etc.
I'm on Wind Mobile (AWS carrier like T-Mobile) using US GSM model (XT1064) and getting like 1.9 down and 0.5 up on local servers.
And 4.6 down and 0.4 up 66 ping on Wenatchee, WA server... though this server is like 335km away.
For me it's faster to use WiFi than HSPA.
PS
Isn't it better to use US GSM model specifically desiged for 1700Mhz on T-Mobile instead of Global GSM (Europe and AT&T) model?

Why I'm on HSPA+ but it show 3G+ and not H+ on statut bar ?

This shows the potential that this phone can have with the right network and environment. My test was done in an underground parking garage so I think that's pretty nice that this phone can hold up those speeds under that condition.
I had thought the same about the US GSM version being a requirement for US Carriers but that's not the case at least not with Tmobile. At first I was holding out for the US GSM version then started researching and bit the bullet, the global version works just as well for me on Tmobile there wouldn't be any difference as long as your in areas that support the right bands.

R800at has 3G on T-Mobile.

I have an unlocked R800at on T-Mobile's network, and have 3G in my area. Just guessing here, but this is probably because of T-Mobile's recent move to upgrade all their towers to support unlocked IPhones.
This is what I plan on doing I. About 2 months when my VZ contract is up. Glad to know there's 3G. Where I live T-Mobile just lit up 3G for AT&T devices. How good are your speeds? Sometime towards the last half of last year T-Mobile starting converting its 2G frequency to AT&T 3G compatible. This was done to accomodate the 1 million+ Iphones that T-Mobile has on their network. Plus they are doing this in hopes that people will bring their own AT&T unlocked phone to their service.
Due to this I plan on buying a AT&T PLAY and unlocking it for T-Mobile as in my area they just switched the 2G to AT&T compatible 3G.

Oh, I'm very out of the loop on this anymore... So it has to be the R800at ? If this is the case I will be buying one very shortly !
You need to have the R800at and sim unlock it. It will not work on the R800i which do not support the US 3G frequencies. You also need to check to see if T-Mobile have 1900Mhz band supported for your location.

Try doing this:
Settings -> More -> Mobile networks -> Network operators, let it search for networks. If there is 1900MHz support in your area, you will see 3G T-Mobile
Did you do any changes to your build.prop for T-Mobile or add the APN settings for T-Mobile? I added the T-Mobile settings then hit save, but it didnt stick...ideas?
I can't remember the options exactly, but if you are using stock rom, just go to the first choice, Xperia settings or something, then select download internet settings, it should automatically assign the correct apn.
Once you get custom roms they tend to automatically have apn included.
As to why the APN don't save I'm not sure.

[Q] Differences of Data in XT905 XT907 XT907Dev

Well my questions is.
Do any of these models work 100% with Data 3G/4G with AT&T and T-Mobile USA ?
XT907 Retail VZ, everything works with AT&T and T-Mobile except Fast Data we only get E
XT905 Does this one work in the US or will it have compatibly issues with the Data Frequency also ?
XT907 Dev, I seen some of yall have this one if you stick an AT&T and T-Mobile Sim in it do you get 4G 3G or HSPA or also only E ?
Man, mine is a xt907 dev... As you know I never managed to get anything better than edge in the US with gsm, 3G only in the rest of the world.
Again, let me reiterate, the xt907 dev is exactly identical to the retail, both in software and in hardware. Only difference is that Motorola will give me an unlock code if I request it in exchange for the warranty.
Instead, I'm very interested in:
* xt905 (Aussie, Telstra) and,
* 201M (Japan, Softbank).
Anybody has had the chance to try one of these in the US with a gsm carrier?

Not here.. never tried the XT905.
Though XT907 gets H+, 3G etc etc on Tmobile network in Houston Texas.
The 907 and 907 Dev are identical except for the fact that the Dev edition can legitimately unlock the bootloader and has "developer edition" on the back. There is literally no other difference

I have an XT907 retail VZW, using Straight Talk's BYOP AT&T SIM. I get HSPA+ with speeds around 10Mbps, and near where I work, T-Mobile has refarmed their HSPA and I can see (but not connect, as AT&T sims cannot roam on T-mobile on ST). So if you are only able to get EDGE, either you have your phone set to 2G/GSM only, or are in an area without AT&T/T-Mobile HSPA (or a non-refarmed T-Mobile HSPA area).
I'm attaching a picture of when I scan for networks on my Razr M.
EDIT: Also added a speedtest and network info screenshot.

Three network vs T-mobile (Pay monthly)

Hi guys, I have a pay monthly sim which is from T-mobile and it will end in 4 Months and i am waiting for Samsung s4 release. Basically which network provider is better? I want to swap to Three because they have cheap and good plan for the S4.. What is your experience with this network provider? Do they have fast internet? are they better than T-mobile?
Regards.
LTE has been deployed in a few cities already and the DC-HSPA speeds are pretty good. Not sure about Three though as I've never really heard of them. LTE speeds seem to be consistently 20Mbps down and around 30-50msec pings from the screenshots I've seen for KC and Vegas. And getting the $30 5GB plan is really good.
I assume you're talking about the UK? Three aren't rolling out 4g until q4 of this year, tmobile will never roll out 4g, you need to go to EE for that. Three's dchspa is great from my experience-

I have a Nexus 4 on Three currently, using their £12.90 plan with AYCE data, speeds seem to fluctuate alot for me, between 0.5Mbps and 12Mbps in the same room of my house, depending on the day. Ping times are lower than 100ms 80% of the time, so fast page loading. My Mum is on T-Mobile (using an iPhone 4 so no DC-HSDPA, not sure if T-Mobile support it anyway) and her speeds are never higher than 2Mbps down with 200ms ping, haven't tried her sim in my phone so can't comment on if it's phone related or network, but what I suggest is get a Three payg sim, top it up with a bit of credit and check the speeds in your area, also check their coverage map as they don't have a 2G backup everywhere (only rural places with little to no 3G)

Unlocked on T-Mobile

There seems to be some confusion about this phone working on T-Mobile 4g
YES THE PHONE WORKS!! however if you want 4g you need to be in a 1900 refarmed area and yes LTE works as well.
I live in Katy, Texas which is a suburb of Houston which is a 1900 refarmed area. Phone works perfectly fine. I didn't have to do any set up. Basically just like a tmo phone. I haven't noticed LTE yet. It switches from 3g to H. Runs just as fast as my nexus 4 and one s. Just thought I would drop this info, hopefully it helped someone.

I would like to confirm that the Unlocked 32GB HTC One works perfectly in Phoenix, AZ as well. We're another 1900MHz refarm, and I've spotted LTE in some areas as well. Don't be afraid to grab this from HTC rather than dealing with T-Mobile's shinanigans and bloatware.
I'm in the boston area, which is also refarmed. pretty much same experience as op. all the set up was automatic.
the only thing different is indoors, sitting at my desk which is 3 feet from the window, my phone switches between E, 3g, and H every few minutes like it cant get a stable connection.
havent gone outdoors yet.
Speedtest during H connection was: 104ms ping, 5.13Mbps down, 2.07Mbps up
this is comparable to my g2 speedtests

Working faster than my galaxy nexus around chicagoland, only problem is that I cant no longer tether even with the mod UAstring but If I switch back to the galaxy nexus everything works fine. We need to fix this issue ASAP
I live in SD, our refarm is kind of strange and this is the first time I've ever used it(only used primarily tmobile phones for last 10 years). The one thing I will say is that it in SD it seems every other tower has been refarmed, as I will keep going in and out of HSPA. This was seen as I was driving around on the freeway(not texting but checking service). Another thing is that I can be on a tower that has been refarmed, go into a building, and have it revert to edge from HSPA outside. And then when I take a couple steps outside the building it works again.
Also I was wondering if anyone else has handcut their sim to microsim? I'm hoping that may be the issue, and if I get an official tmobile microsim it will be fine. Otherwise the refarm is superb when it works, getting about 10 Mbps down with my handcut(from diagram) sim
Houston Area
The Developer Edition work fine in Houston area. However, the data speed is jumpy. My Note 2 LTE speed stay above 15 MBS all the time but the One LTE will go from 5 MBS to 20 MBS. H+ on the one is not stable at all. Tmo agent told me to call back in a week for more info. If someone find out a way to optimize the Dev edition on Tmo radio please let me know.

New to the htc one but what is the tmo radio required for? Since it already works unlocked?
If I'm not mistaking it's 1700/1900/LTE out of the box the unlocked one doesn't have 1700 enabled. I'm sure a dev will eventually get it done. If you want 3g/4g data then you need to be in a 1900 refarmed area.

The ATT/dev ones are 850/1900/2100MHz UMTS; band 4 (AWS) is the only UMTS band that uses 1700MHz at all.
I wouldn't count on getting AWS enabled on the dev version. It is very likely that the allowed bands are configured in hardware as has generally been the case on MDM9x15 devices.

The unlocked version is strictly worse from a 3G standpoint but might have a couple of extra LTE frequencies (not 100% sure on that one, tmo version definitely is bands 4/17 only). AFAIK the only other place AWS is at all likely to matter is Canada, but assuming tmo will unlock your One there is no frequency advantage to getting the unlocked version from HTC--I think it's $5 cheaper.
If you travel internationally then that's a huge advantage.. but I'm sure tmobile will unlock your phone, if you ask. I purchased the unlocked version because I didn't wanna deal with my uncle (account holder) nor tmobile. Plus there wasnt any information about tmobiles release at the time, I so I hopped on the unlocked version.

I'm having the same issue with T-Mobiles Refarm @ 1900mhz keeps dropping from H to EDGE, and I just spoke to my Buddy that works for T-Mobile and there LTE will be on AWS 1700MHZ... I'm shipping this phone back to HTC, I was thinking of buying T-Mobiles HTC One Branded phone that includes the AWS 1700mhz Band, but I don't like the fact that its only a 32GB. If you have the TL09 version, you should receive LTE already. I'm currently using the TL10 and only receive HSPA+. Not complaining really, as AT&T's HSPA+ speeds are very respectable.

LTE is just that LTE Which means Long Term Evolution. 4G is not even 4G it is an upgraded version of 3G. 4G offers HSPA/+ for data up to 42m in markets that support it. LTE is a joke as no us market even offers the speeds LTE can do. Most speed tests while running on LTE max out around 15 to 24m same for HSPA/+ and when you hit your bandwidth limit your speeds are reduced to that of a dialup modem. I laugh so hard when I hear people wanting a phone and complain it has no LTE.
I suggest you read the Wikipedia entries on 4G and LTE.
I do get LTE on AT&T network however the ascend mate 2 had better signal adherence and would get LTE in more places than the mate 7. I wonder if lollipop will help, this device it's also poorer in battery performance

Most speed tests while running on LTE max out around 15 to 24m same for HSPA/+ and when you hit your bandwidth limit your speeds are reduced to that of a dialup modem. I laugh so hard when I hear people wanting a phone and complain it has no LTE.

You forget one important factor, response time and latency is greatly improved on 4G this is very noticeable, this is more important then the increased bandwidth. I am stuck with a old mobile subscription with 3.75 HDSP+, the reason I have not upgraded it earlier is that my old mobile subscription offer me no data limit, I got a letter last month from my telecom company they say they will now updrade my old mobile subscription to 4G and I will still have no data limit.
Looking forward to see what speed I will get with 4G! Currently I get about 22 mbit with 3.75G HDSP+. Bandwidth is enough but responsetimes will bet a lot better with 4G which will make it faster to connect to new connections when using internet.. The bootleneck will probably now be the CPU/GPU of the M7.
Does this phone supports T-Mobile LTE or just the Att ?

It's fine on T-mobile LTE (I have the single sim MT-L09 version) . Best speed I've seen in downtown Tampa has been something like 45m down.
