[4.4.4]S3 SHV E210S|SMS-Dialer-BootAnim-SDWrite-FIX|Root-Recovery|Bloat-KNOX-Remover - Galaxy S III General

Hi All,
Not too familiar with Samsung development methods but bought S3 Korean SHV E210S, Luckily got 4.4.4 update, so for all those seeking to
1) Fix SMS 160 characters limit
2) International looking Dialer
3) Samsung Boot animation
4) SD card Write enabled
5) Removed Samsung apps, Knox , Korean Apps
All these stuff in one go in Flashable Zip without going through lots of hassle.
Also for those looking for Root and Recovery too, I have included guide below
Guide for those who have not yet flashed 4.4.4:
1. Download the Rom from sammobile from below link and flash using Odin (i used 3.09) in Downloadmode
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/35411/E210SKSUKNI3_E210SSKTKNI3_SKT.zip
2. Once Rom is booted, enter your accounts etc and then reboot into download mode again and download Flash TWRP Recovery from below link and flash using Odin (its for i9300- works for us)
http://techerrata.com/get/twrp2/i9300/openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.1-i9300.tar
3. Now boot into recovery and flash the All in One Fix that I made
4. Stay in recovery and flash UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.13.zip to obtain root. You can download from link below
http://download.chainfire.eu/567/SuperSU/
5. Once you boot into system, open SuperSU, it might ask for updating binary, do it and reboot again
Thats it..
Additionally you can use Wanam Xposed from PlayStore which is very useful for all other mods.
Have fun..
PS: I dont have any problem if Mods want to mix it with the Huge S3 Koreans thread. It was a bit too congested so i thought i should make a separate thread
DOWNLOAD for All in One Fix :
https://www.mediafire.com/?shdxdw6hw3ayvjx
Thanks to
Chainfire
TWRP Team
Desamsungtizer script i used from S4 development from this thread which I Edited to include many other bloatwares specific for E210S

Thanks a lot, I have been searching for months for these fixes. I have posted questions on the "huge E210S" thread but had not obtained any response until now. This is exactly what I needed!
However, after running your fix on my rooted E210S with stock 4.4.4 ROM, the debloating also removed many non-SKT apps such as the "ordinary" Video and Music apps, and also Voice Dialer gone as well! I don't know whether this was supposed to happen or is it a specific problem for me...

Hi @jjdoctor,
I did a fresh new install of the stock ROM on my device and then followed the steps to run this fix. Everything worked just fine, except for the SMS fix!
I tried reflashing again and re-installing the ROM before re-flashing still no success...
I don't remember what I did previously but I can't seem to be able to get the SMS limit fix anymore! Please, any ideas on what I can do here?

agree with sonyxx, except for sms limit fix everything work as fine as mentioned here

You guys are right, I will fix it sooner but a quick fix is to install Wanam Xposed from playstore, it will ask to download Xposed installer, do it, then reboot and in Modules select Wanam Xposed. Then open Wanam Xposed and messaging option in it, select disable Sms to Mms conversion.
I will fix it, just give me time

If my shv-e210s phone is already on 4.4.4 and rooted, do I just need to flash your All In One Fix and that's it?

My e210s is on Sena rom v6. That dialer has Korean letters and doesn't include voicemail right now, so I flashed this mod but although the flash was successful, I didn't see any changes after a system reboot, so I removed it.

New User - Problem with Update after rooting

I'm sorry for having to post here, I'm a new XDA member and I've just started using my tablet and found out I can't post in the dev section. I'm not sure how else to get help and a previous boyfriend told me the xda-developers community was a great place so I thought I would try here.
I have the Nexus 7 (2013 edition) and I used WUG's method of rooting - everything went perfectly, but now I'm getting a notification that there is an update (an OTA update - I think that's what they are called?) and it doesn't apply. I'm not sure if I should have, but I did the bootloader unlock and installed a new recovery (TWRP - I think that's how it's spelled?. sorry again)...
Anyway.... At this point my tablet is working great, but I constantly see this notification for an update and I'm not sure what to do.. It says "touch to install" and I've done that but it just boots into my new recovery. If anybody has access to WUG in the dev forum, could you please ask him what I should do?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have the WiFi only version or the LTE version? Also, under your settings -> about phone, what build number are you currently on? Since you have rooted and installed a custom recovery, OTA updates will not install correctly. You have a couple of options in this regards, and I or someone will go over them once we figure out what version you are running.

Oh railed, thankyou so much - I was not sure if I would be able to get any more updates. If I do that, will it delete everything on my tablet? It did that when I did the change to an unlocked bootloader, and I had to reload everything.

All your data will be preserved. Only Wipe the Cache/Dalvik Cache, not the Data. Before you install go to Wipe -> Advance -> Check only Cache and Dalvik Cache.
Typically when an update comes out, someone will post a flashable update within a couple of hours so we can install them as well. Hope it helps.
Edit: As always before flashing anything, make a backup, by rebooting into recovery and selecting Backup (i check all the boxes).

Also.... If I just load the latest cyanogenmod on it, will that take care of it. I have the same old phone from my previous boyfriend and it's running cyanogenmod.. It will update the OS whenever a new version comes out and I don't lose the data like I did with the unlock bootloader thing?

I believe so, Cyanogenmod usually merges the updates pretty quickly into the code and you won't get any update notifications from Google directly any more. There are only nightly releases so far for this device if you feel like going that route.

That's completely up to you and what you prefer... I like the stock android experience so far, but there are many options out there for custom ROMs besides CM. Take a look here and here and figure out if a ROM in there has something you want... the great thing about this is if you don't like it, flash something else until you find exactly what you like... that's how I plan to do it, once the ROMs get more stable with the 4.3 updates.

I use deodexed, as do a lot of people who like to customize. There's not a lot of difference between the two. Here is an article that explains it pretty well: Odexed vs Deodexed

No labels?
How do I get rid of app labels? So for instance, I don't see the word "phone" in text underneath the phone app icon on the homes screens as well as in the app drawer?
Thanks for the great rom btw. A really nice upgrade over Baja rom, though i do miss the opening animation and will Smith on the lock screen.
Seems rock solid and smooth so far. Love the aosp theme and pissing off coworkers with the Apple theme on a note 3?
Can someone help me with extSdCard issue. I can't rename any file or create a folder or move files from phone to card. I have tried the kit kat sd card fix apps. I always used root Explorer and I have tried multiple sd cards. I currently have a SanDisk 128gb sd. I'm also on NC2 kernel running safestrap. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've been trying to install Alliance Rom on my Note 3 without success.
My Note 3 is rooted, has Safestrap 3.75 installed, along with busybox.
My Note 3 is running (came with) 4.4.2 NC4.
I've tried to install in in the stock slot after backing up the stock rom.
I've successfully installed Jasmine, so I think I do know how to install a rom, but am having trouble with this.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

After flashing the rom zip you need to boot straight to download mode from safestrap & flash the NC2 kernel via Odin (link in the thread linked in my signature). Then it'll boot.

Quick question concerning NC4
I have a Verizon Note 3 and I am currently running a custom ROM that uses a NC2/NC4 Kernel. I want to try the Alliance ROM, can I directly flash it or do I have to revert back to rooted NC4? Sorry for the noob question. Alliance ROM would be my second custom ROM.

You don't need to do anything differently than any other person wanting to install Alliance:
1) Boot to SafeStrap
2) Wipe Data, Dalvic, Cache
3) Flash the ROM zip
4) After it's done flashing, hit the Home button in Safestrap
5) Tap "Reboot" menu
6) Reboot to "Download/Bootloader" (I forget the name)
7) Flash the NC2 Kernel in Odin (requires a PC) - You can find it in my guide thread which is linked in my signature
8) Reboot & Enjoy!

Problem with Google Hangouts Notifications
Hi there. I am not sure if this is the correct section to post my problem but I cannot yet post in the Alliance Rom thread. I am having a problems with notifications from Hangouts that I will try and describe as detailed as I can below.
My setup is a Verizon Galaxy Note 3 with Alliance Rom version 1.
I currently utilize two google accounts with hangouts. My primary is my main account which friends and family interact with both through hangouts and sms. My second account is a dummy account I use to interact with people such as those I meet on craiglist to sell items mainly through sms.
I am finding the past few weeks that i will have missed either SMS messages or hangout messages because I did not receive a notification on my phone for either account. I have gone ahead and tested this by logging into both accounts on my computer with different instances of chrome and logged into gmail on both. I went about messaging each account back and forth to see of my phone which is still logged in would receive a notification.
I only get a notification on my phone around 25 percent of the time.
I am not sure whether this is a straight hangouts bug or something related to Alliance rom so I decided to post here first before I venture to the hangouts help forum.

Just wanted to say that i've been following for quite some time, beanstown and his jelly beans rom, and made the switch to the Alliance crew. I greatly have appreciated your work and everyones thread discussions, to include az_biker who made the transition to alliance rom effortless!
so far, everything on my note 3 has been great, again thanks a bunch! I'll try not to be so much of a lurker and more of a contributor in the future!

[Q] Is there a way to install other languages in the operating system ?

Hi, is there a way to install other languages in the operating system? I use G900V with stock 4.4.4 ( version NI2 ) i have root access. If he could to flash language pack of other stock firmwares for G900* to G900V ? A last resort case, to recommend custom rom for G900V with multilanguage support system. Thanks!

I don't think there will be anyway to flash different languages, and I don't know of any ROM's for the 900V with really good language support. I looked through the ROM's for this phone and don't see anything. But I'll see what I can do about getting a work-around for you to add languages. I may be able to get the languages from an International ROM and add it to the framework-res.apk of a stock 900V ROM. I've never done this before but I have an idea of how to do it. I'll get some help if needed. It's a good time to learn how. I'll test on my phone and if it works, I'll get with you and tell you exactly how to add it. Exactly what languages are you needing anyway?
I need Bulgarian language, but I do not know how to integrate by another stock rom. I would be very grateful if you tell me how to do it.

If I figure how to do it I will definitely let you know. It won't be a really simple process on my end but it won't be too awfully difficult either. I have all the programs to do it. I believe I'll have to decompile the framework-res apk (where the languages are located) from an International ROM and do the same to a stock 4.4.4 NI2 ROM from the G900V. I should be able to add the language files that's needed and recompile the apk. If it works, I'll upload the apk that I made, and you'll just replace the one in your phone with mine. I'll give you the full instructions on how to do it. You'll have the easy part. I'll get started on it a little later when I get home.
Thank you very much. I'll try, I hope this method work. Before this i will make backup of the system with Safestrap Recovery. :victory:

Definitely a good idea. I'm pretty sure if it works though, by adding a different framework-res apk into the sytem, you'll have to do a reset though. (clear data and cache)

I'll do it, will replace the original file in system folder - framework-res apk. I use stock system rom - version 4.4.4 (NI2) . I'll have to send me a other file, which replace original.

I've been working on it when I've had a chance between another project and Thanksgiving. I've probably eaten 7 times today already Lol. I'll finish testing it tomorrow hopefully and upload it for you when it's finished and I know it doesn't cause any issues. It does appear that it's going to work perfectly though.

Will NU work with non NU
I am going to buy this tablet in a few weeks and I live in Australia and the model here does not have NU at the end but just T330. Will this ROM and any other NU ROM work with my tablet? Sorry for the noob question, but I am new to the tablet.

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure. It should, the only difference between the T330 and the T330NU that I've been able to find is the T330NU has an IR blaster so it can be used as a remote control. No kernel is included with the ROM, so you are more than safe to install it after making a backup. If it works, let me know. If not, Ill figure out why and make it compatible.

Should I make a backup through CMW or through the settings?
Once I get the device which like I said is in 3 weeks, I will try the device out for about a week to see how it works and get used to it and then backup and install the ROM and compare it to the stock and then post my comments on the forum.

CWM or TWRP. Either one will work. As long as you have a backup of your system partition in one of those you will be good to go. Sounds good, I'll be waiting.
Hopefully there will be a few more updates by that time. I keep getting errors when decompiling SecSettings which is pissing me off. I'll just have to keep at it until I figure it out. Doesn't make any sense to me.
Sounds good, the more updates the better!
As with the error's you are getting, I have no idea what your talking about, so I'l just agree

Lol. Its all good. I got it figured out. What I was working on was enabling S5 Settings Mod in SecSettings.apk (aka. Settings on Samsung devices). Its not finished but it works more than well enough so its in the new SuperStocked version.
So I have received my tablet early and it was easier than I thought to use it, so I have decided to install your ROM, I have already installed TWRP v2.8.3.0 and it works and I am currently backing up my tablet to my external sd card and then I will attempt to try and install the Superstocked.
Do you want me to try out both of your rom's?
I have flashed superstock and I have a few problems, when i flashed it had an error with unmounting or something like that and the keyboard is not very good it looks like android 4.2 keyboard and I do not have root access. I tried towelroot but i still do not have root access.
I think I will go back to 100% stock.

If Towel Root does not work, then try flashing SuperUser via TWRP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
Edit, This rom is just a Deodexed version of the 100 percent Stock ROM... There are subtle differences, but the root method is the same..

If you happen to flash it again in the future, could you copy the recovery log so I can see the unmounting error. Its Advanced > Copy log to SD. I don't know what could have caused that but I doubt it had any effect on the ROM after booting.
As for the keyboard. It defaults to looking like 4.2 keyboard but with a number row because the ROM is kitkat. If you go into the keyboard settings you can change the theme to the material design themes.
I've been having a lot of issues with root. The su binaries are included as well as all the su files. It works fine for some people and it doesn't for others. Flashing the latest SuperSU will give you root. I'll add a link to it in the OP later today and mention root issues.
I have installed the stock v1.2 and I am still having root problems, if you can provide the su package I will try that out.
What I meant yesterday was in twrp when I was formatting the message was
E: error sending message to add storage 65537
Also I am wondering if it is alright to close or disable some system apps that are using ram such as
DeviceTest
SmartcardService
Context Service
PageBuddyNotiSvc
ELM Agent
Nearby devices
Unified Daemon
If so, how would I go about doing it?

Here's the SuperSU flashable zip:
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
The error you saw in TWRP was an error from trying to mount and unmount MTP. It happens on all of our devices but doesn't affect anything. So no worries when you see it.
If you want to disable/freeze apps you can use an app from the play store like Greenify or Titanium Backup. Titanium Backup can also remove system apps but I wouldn't recommend doing that without making a backup of the app you want to remove first.
However, if you just want to disable some services but not the entire app you can download and use Disable Service from the play store.
Thanks for clearing the meaning of that error. I have flashed the su zip and I now have root.
Lastly, is possible to reset the flash counter, so if I take my tablet in for repair my warrnty will be valid?

That I'm not sure of. I imagine there is but I haven't looked into trying any of the reset counters made for other Samsung devices on the T330/NU. You would probably need to make your own thread and ask in the help section.
My device was seller refurbished so I don't have a warranty. Otherwise I could probably help you out.
I talked to samsung about the knox thing and I was told I still had a 1yr warranty from purchase date no matter what.
Really? Samsung put implemented knox so people wouln't flash rom's but they don't care! Something doesn't seem right here. I'll believe you and just hope that nothing happens to my tablet, just in case they change their mind.

Yeah, I was hoping Viper4Android would work on our devices in compatability mode since selinux is enforcing. I haven't had time to actually test it myself, but I did notice that it did ask for a driver install even though I preinstalled and registered the audio driver.
To be honest, street view and face unlock are from paranoid android gapps. I've integrated PA gapps into our ROM over the included gapps. DropboxOOBE I kept because I assumed that was the apk that gave people 50GB of Dropbox space, if not I'll remove it.
Some things I didn't remove because I couldn't find information on them. I only removed stuff I knew was safe to remove. I'm working on getting a kernel with at least init.d by unpacking, editing, and repacking but I'm not planning on trying to find the source and compile a new kernel.

It may be possible that they as a manufacturer don't care. When I had my Motorola I was told by them that they could care less if you rooted it or installed a custom ROM. The manufacturer warranty was applicable either way, it was the carriers that cared and charged for replacements of rooted devices. I have no idea if that applies to Samsung, but its possible I guess.
Samsung devices also include Knox for the enterprise and security. So a company can purchase Samsung devices and guarantee their devices and network aren't compromised. The NSA even said that Knox was secure enough for the government to use it.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2836612/samsung-knox-devices-approved-for-government-use-by-nsa.html
You would need to contact Samsung yourself to find out. My device has no warranty. I'm sailing solo lol.

[Q] Need help switch from lollipop to KitKat on my NOTE-3 SM-N900.

Hello XDA,
I have tried numerous ROMs/apps in last few weeks of time and very very thankful to great developers of XDA.. (THANK YOU very much).
But I am unable to control my battery drain issues (I thought my battery is old and bought a new one) but still having same issues.
1. Battery charges normally from 2% to 100% in maximum 90 minutes
2. Battery drains from 100 to 0 in 90 minutes while playing games like Hungry Shark Evolution with sound, same happens with some multiplayer games like Ninja Dash and/or subway surfers etc.. (my kid wont stop playing same on my cell)
3. Battery drains from 100 to 0 in maximum 8 to 10 hours with wifi ON.. Whatsapp and Facebook running in background, using phone hardly for 10 minutes in voice calls (incoming/outgoing)
It seems I am unable to control some advanced features in custom ROMs.
I am travelling out next week, and hence want to switch back to KitKat (latest whatever supports my mobile)
Please help me, understand which file to download (how to flash right way), how to root my mobile.
Just explain in simple instructions, learned a lot trying different roms here.. if anywhere I am stuck. I will reply back.
This is my current stuff posting screenshots.
My experience
I have flashed back to kitkat from lollipop more than 4 times by just flashing via Odin without any problems. I haven't rooted my device yet. But I tried the same steps (lolly to kk) for S4 GT-I9500, with the result of "null imei" issue. I think there is no issues with note 3 N900. I don't know how it will become after rooting. If you are on stock Lolly without root, you can simply flash KK firmware via odin.
Thanks vishnu ji.
Where do I download stock firmware from.
Sammobile or officially from Samsung. Com (never tried downloading from there)
I m just confused which version to download.

Yeah. Remember flash it normally via ODIN like in the pic attached. Maybe appears some errors but we will solve them :highfive:
This will not detect the .zip file in download mode ??
Not sure what to do ahead.. Mobile i detected in download mode properly.
Edit:
I have installed KitKat properly.. but just need to root device to be able to restore backup of all my records from titanium back pro..
It seems I am done with everything as of now..
Android version 4.4.2 and rooted as well.
still having a problem? if so, which one?
Thanks guys,
Fixed everything now.. Using greenify pro now and battery works like charm.
Planning to buy another right app, to remove unnecessary appz from this mobile. (any suggestions ? i am planning to remove system apps like hangouts, watchon, etc. which I never use but always takes up stuff) though everything is now greenified.
Regards.
