I see band 12 will be on the N6 - Nexus 6 General

This will be one of the first phones to have B12 available. This should make T-Mobile fans very happy.

Yeah, it's kind of inexplicable why the Nexus 6 covers so many more bands than the Moto X. It's basically the same hardware, would have been easy to do on Moto X.

Correction! It looks the same, but the HW is entirely different on the inside.
This is closer HW wise to a Droid Turbo than a MotoX, the only relation between the MotoX and the N6 is aesthetics.

Super happy about band 12 support. I had a vzw gnex with band 13 (upper 700 mhz ) and it was awesome.... Full speed in the basement of a 30 storey building . When I noticed I was like WTF? Hell yeah!
Can't wait to get back to that... My home and work are in a band 12 market for tmobile.

When is T-Mobile starting to deploy LTE on B12?

Is band 12 used everywhere by TMob or only certain regions? I don't have any TMob reception using a G3, but that has no band 12. Can I expect the N6 to be better?

Check out the map above on post 9. Band 12 acquisitions have been rolling out all over but in certain large markets they are limited to Verizon... See the red circles on the map. Those were retained by Verizon but nearby areas are T-Mobile.

I see places on that map with my current Nexus 5 that I only have E on my phone but it is covered in the red band 12 area. With this band 12 will that mean I will have 4g/lte in the same places with the nexus 6?

Example: at my work I have E (we cant bring our phone into work so it doesn't matter to me). On the map it shows that where I work is in red (I assume that is the band 12), then I would now have 4g/LTE with the new band on the Nexus 6.
I felt like my last post didn't make sense and I hope this one does.

Correct although it might not be live yet on actual towers. Some markets are up right now... In total the map shows acquisitions not coverage as it stands today.

So is this "Band 12 better wall penetration" only for T-Mobile users or will it benefit all carriers? Just a little confused by frequencies and stuff of that sort.

All of South Jersey/Philly/MD is covered in red.
Oh hell yes, 4G everywhere I drive FINALLY!!

Please post speed test results here. With T-Mobiles lte network being new and being built to LTE Advanced instead of regular LTE I'm sure a lot of people want to know what speeds are going to be getting when LTE comes to them.
Thank You

Tmobile band 12 availability thread

I decided to start this thread for people to report the availability and their experience with band 12 (700mhz). I've been on the fence about leaving T-Mobile due to poor reception in the areas I spend the most time at.( home and work). I'm tired of texts not sending or data not being available. My favorite is my wife constantly picks on me about android and crap phones ( you can only imagine what she uses). So every time she needs me to look up something because her phone isn't around I can't.
According to T-Mobile they will be releasing an update to phones that support band 12 in Q1 so it can access the network. I'm hoping this solves my connectivity problems since it should have better building penetration. Sorry if there is already a thread on this topic. Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated
Hoping TMUS can turn it around. The most recent FCC freq auction had VZ and ATT outspending TMUS by 5 to 9 times. Sprint didn't bid. TMUS CEO had a plan to have VZ-like coverage. We'll see.

Well in the short term I'd like to see my area improve since I don't travel often. Long term I think Tmo will get there. The speed of the network is great. The philosophy of the carrier is pretty much what I want... Things just don't always work. I'm guessing the update T-Mobile is releasing is just a new radio? Unless they will bundle it with the release of 5.1? I'm hoping we get WiFi calling then as well. Should be sooner than later since there's 2 months left of Q1

The recent AWS-3 spectrum auction doesn't have anything to do with band 12. That was band 4 spectrum. More high band to carry data, which tmobile I think could benefit from but ultimately has enough for now. There is talk that ATT bought heavily as a strategic move to throttle expansion for both Verizon and TMO. Anyways, if your band 4 is good, I don't see how the auciton would benefit your experience. Only in areas where LTE currently sucks, you might see gains if you are in the included region.
As for Band 12, I don't see a lot of expansion in this until 2016 because there is an overlap with channel 51. Stations with licenses to channel 51 like in the San Francisco Bay Area don't have to move until 2016 sooo..... *shrugs*

Not necessarily. You might get signal 'leakage' from the surrounding deployed towers in Tampa.
You'll probably get great signal if you ever go to Miami.
T-Mobile (google?) is also going to push out a new radio that will also 'enable' the band 12 whatever that means.
I guess for anyone that bought phones from them it's disabled but enabled on other sources?
Or maybe they will release a radio specifically tailored for there own tower deployment.
So I tried doing some digging. I think I found the channel 51 that is broadcasting in the area that I live. According to what I've found it says that it's channel 31 virtual channel 51. Anyone have any idea what that means?

Band 12 is not about speed. it is a 5+5 implementation for A block sadly.
It is about getting a signal since the waves are long and able to penetrate into buildings, which is better than no signal at all.

Our Note 4 will not be able to take advantage of Carrier Aggregation

So Sprint added 35 more markets where Sprint's Spark Band 41 Carrier Aggregation is giving people crazy speeds. I read in the forum comments that unfortunately our Note 4 does not have the proper chip to use this technology. It makes me wonder how the Note 4 Edge is able to though considering they are basically the same. This sucks if it is true.

It will NOT support CA. The Cat 6 baseband chip was in limited supply at launch, so it was only included on the Edge. The FCC docs show max 20MHz for Band 41. Would have to be 20+20 to be approved for CA.

Band 41 is over rated. You have to be outside for good reception, indoor forget it. If you're outside the whole time regular band 41 is plenty fast, imo this CA is more of advertising then anything, unless this new technology provides better building penetration.

I would disagree.
I work on one of the campuses for sprint and all the network guys told me only the note edge has CA before both phones launched. So it's true and also since they work on the network where I work I can confirm the network speeds are pretty beast. I have both notes but the note 4 has more development so I gave my little brother my edge. Development out weighs potential network speeds for me.
Don't even have band 41 in my area yet so CA won't be a worry for me anytime soon.

Slow LTE speeds?

Has anyone noticed horribly slow LTE speeds? I'm in philly and North of philly and both areas have poor speeds.

In some cases I'm getting less than 1M on the moto x pure and the other phones are 20M+. It could be the towers are different but seems unlikely given the area's I've tested. I'm off to NJ, NYC and Austin, TX this week so it'll be a nice test to see if the issue is isolated to just Columbus or generally overall with the Pure/AT&T.

North Jersey here and I'm only getting about 6 with Verizon...
The specs say that the phone supports 4G LTE† (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 38, 41).
I am coming from a WiMax phone that is supposed to end in Novermber 2015.
The main reason I purchased this phone is because my understanding is that carriers are in the process of switching over to LTE Channel 17 because it does a much better job with both range and building penetration. This is one of the few phones in my budget that had band 17.
I know 17 isn't everywhere yet, but should be coming soon to your area.

I got the fastest I've ever gotten this week:

13 up
On At&t
A little bit later the up was a little slower, but went ahead and did a speed test so I could save the results.
I'm using straight talk on att towers and My speeds do seem slower then on my nexus 5. I'm getting around 12 max down and 3-5up when it used to be closer to 20-30 down and 15up. I did get cut SIM card but I don't think that's the issue. I've tried to use a different pan but it did not work, I think the pan was wrong for my sim.

Just a bit of a correction:
Band 17 is used by AT&T, and is in the 700MHz range. They also operate on Bands 2, 4, and 5 for increased bandwidth in cities.
Band 13 is used by Verizon and is also in the 700MHz range. They operate Band 4 for increased bandwidth in cities, and Band 2 LTE is being refarmed from Verizon's older 1x CDMA signal in some areas.
Band 12 is being rolled out by T-Mobile now. Like the above, also in the 700MHz range. Same situation as Verizon: Band 4 in cities, Band 2 in rural refarmed areas. Before TMO rolled out B12, B4 was their primary band, so it's currently more built out than B12, but B12 has greater range.
Sprint is the odd one out, whose lowest LTE band is in the 800MHz range (Band 26), while their primary band is way up in the 1900MHz range (Band 25).
Basically, no carriers are starting to switch to Band 17, because AT&T has been using it for ages (already built out), and the other carriers have their own low-frequency bands to work with. The range and building penetration has to do with the frequency used: 700MHz, which 3 of the 4 major carriers are riding on (17, 13, 12).

I got the fastest I've ever gotten this week:
66 Down
13 up
On At&t
A little bit later the up was a little slower, but went ahead and did a speed test so I could save the results.

[EDIT]
It seems in some areas, my signal is triple strength (as shown in my post above).... But sitting in my office this morning, I usually get 22-28mbs down (and have for the last 2 years) and I'm only getting 10mbs. I wonder if it works better off a certain band that older towers don't have?

LG V20 H990DS T-Mobile LTE

I just got this int'l phone off Amazon, but I CANNOT enable 4G LTE on it for T-Mobile no matter what I do. Does anyone know how I can do this, or if I can??
Thank you in advance!!
Does the DS support bands 2, 4 or 12? If not, that's why.

According to this site, it does.
Also, I actually got this app last night and it confirms that despite what the status bar shows, I actually AM getting LTE. My area (Chicago) gets LTE Bands 2 & 4 currently from T-Mobile, but sometime before this summer (maybe sooner than later) we will finally get Band 12 as well! It's just dumb that the phone can't be more clear. My int'l Sony Xperia X Performance shows "LTE" at least for 4G LTE. THAT'S a lot better than just showing 4G for both. How am I supposed to know which one I'm in? lol I guess if I wanna know I'll have to use that app. But at least I get LTE, so that's cool.
Thanks!
Many phones outside North America don't actual say LTE in the task bar. I have the same phone and LTE shows as 4G+.

Wow. lol So lame. I don't mind it just saying "LTE" on my Xperia X Performance b/c at least the phrase "LTE" is there. Even 4G+ is way better than just showing 4G when it's in 4G LTE or 4G. lol But ok...........
I'm sure knowing from past experience in my area that the only time I'm really getting just 4G it only lasts for a short time anyway. But I saved like $200 buying the int'l version, plus it has B&O Certification where the U.S. version doesn't, so I guess that makes it worth it? (assuming that certification really means it ACTUALLY sounds better? lol)
Thanks Wooba!

It only says 4G when on LTE. HSPA+ and HSPA are both shown as H, and UMTS is shown as 3G. Atleast on my H990DS.
Yeah, i have the 990ds and I travel to Chicago, i live in Charlotte now, often to visit family and friends (I'm from Chicago) and LTE shows as 4G on those phone.
