Farewell to my Xperia Z - Xperia Z General

Guys, sorry for posting a thread like this but I don't feel the Devs get enough praise on here.
I take delivery of my Z2 today and leave my Xperia Z behind. As a result, I am jumping ship to the Z2 forums.
Before I go, I want to thank the Devs, in particular (but in no particular order) Monx, Niaboc79, Pandemic and Rajeev. Throughout my time as an Xperia Z owner, I have used all of your ROMs and have consistently been amazed by the talent and willingness to help the n00bs and experienced flashers alike. You guys get nowhere near the credit you deserve for all of the work you put in. Where you should be getting thanks and praise, I've found a lot of the time, you get whiny people who seem intent on just complaining because their precious device isn't working exactly as they want it to.
They take the risk when they flash and they must accept the consequences. How you guys put up with that is beyond me.
Anyway, time to get off my soap box.
Just wanted to say "Thank You" to the Devs and all of the other users who have chipped in with answers to my problems.
Hopefully see you over on the Z2 forum!

We're not shortlisted! xD But, U're right, they deserve it!

Apologies for anyone I didn't name check. I didn't try everyone's ROM but the fact is XDA is littered with amazingly talented Devs who all give their spare time and resources to help us make the best of our phones.
Every single one of you deserves much more credit than is given, even if it means just clicking thanks on the OP.
On behalf of all of the n00bs and experienced flashers, Thank You!

I've had mine for a few days now. Still have a locked Bootloader but is freshly rooted and running @niaboc79's ROM. My phone is flying!
I love my Z2. The menu is smooth, responsive and snappy. The camera quality is great and the sound from the dual speakers really makes you realize how puny the Xperia Z's speaker is.
The styling is fantastic, with it still feeling like a quality piece of kit (I tried the Z3 and it felt a bit slippy to me), the screen is as good as it's ever been on Sony phones.
But the best thing is, in my opinion, it's starting to feel like my old phone. Sounds like a strange thing to say, but I hate moving brands because nothing is ever where it was before and it takes ages to get used to a new UI (my wife recently got a Galaxy S5, which renewed my loathing for Touchwiz). I changed my launcher from Nova to Action Launcher but that's about it.
In short, fantastic phone. If you can, take the plunge and get a Z2. The Z3 is effectively the same phone with a slightly faster and more power efficient CPU. But to me it doesn't justify the extra expense.
EDIT - Ooops! Wrong quote!

Kindly nice words @ianrobbie
I am happy to see you also now in the Z2 forum ^^
The Z2 is for sure a nice/powerfull and great device !!
Welcome to the Z2 family

need to say this... just to make things clear...

Hi everyone... i usually dont create threads like this, but i am deeply hurt, and need to say a few things just to make it to clear to everybody... i feel some ppl are getting a wrong idea about me...
I am not the kind of person who will do things for fame/popularity (thanks/etc)
I do this for the sheer fun of it!
I want to help the user community...
the only reason that i have started a few thread recently is that a lot of work can be done faster if ppl help out... rather than one person sitting and doing it..
the only reason i released sources/codes, in the still-in-development threads, is that i was stuck with it for a few days now and I couldnt get it working... i thought that if i posted them in the community that may be we could get them working soon...
I AM SORRY IF MY ACTIONS HAVE OFFENDED ANYONE
I DID NOT MEAN TO SPOIL ANYONES PLANS
Who has hurt you? They should appreciate what you're doing. Many people don't do that. +1 for this thread.
I wish you much succes with developing.

Dude, I don't see a problem why you need to be concerned, You are doing Constructive work (no matter how big or small). You are spending some time for x10 which is VERY good. I wish I could contribute in any way I can. (Please PM me if I can be in help with anything).
You really don't have to worry when you're doing good things. You're rocking buddy!
The only thing you need to keep in mind is not to leave the projects incomplete or half done since you've started a couple of em'. If you succeed , I'm sure you have got yourself in one of the epic 'list' who has done tremendous work for x10.
Please keep doing what you do. That's all I can say.
why are you apologising? spoiling anyone's plans? are you kidding me? everyone & I mean everyone should be thankful for what you've done & what you are doing for this community

Who in the blue **** gets offended by any sort of android development? You don't need to be apologizing.
Dude just keep doing what your doing. You are one of the most productive people in the x10 forums.
I'm very curious about this. Doom your absolutely great and to be fair your thanks meter says it all. You are definately one of the most helpful guys around here and extreamely knowledgeable about development and stuff. I wonder who was offended you? Perhaps their jelious about your mad skills?! I guess you wont say who exactly has hurt you but I'd be interested if it was a dev or just one us 'regular' kinda guys. No, but seriously, the number of people saying thanks or clicking the button here on the play forums is very very dismal.
I have an IncS & frequent that forum a LOT more than here cos the play is my wife's phone.
I post quite less but read through most of the threads in the dev section.
You guys have some really awesome developers & contributors and they have absolute zilch to show for it.
i think the devs thanks meter here should be quadrupled at least looking at the efforts & the time spent.
Plus there are loads of helpful members who actually help with the right advice.
the thanks button is there for a reason boys & girls, use it! it's free!
am sure you all feel happy to see your posts getting thanked, why not those who actually work for it?
in the IncS forums the number of devs are less & the number of 'super devs' are even more lesser.
it's like even if they sneeze there are like 20 thanks...
not putting anyone down anywhere but boy am sure the big boys here deserve a lot more thanks (and donations if you please )
anyhow thank you all - devs, ppl who contribute & help others and basically the play forum...
it looks like a happy family to me
keep it rocking guys

Totally agree with everybody here, big thanks to all the developers that have made our plays worth owning, it's obvious to see among the comments in some of the play threads that some people clearly have no idea the amount of work that goes into all the peeerty things that we get for FREE and the developers make for virtually nothing!!! I hope the donations cover the redbull required but sadly I doubt it :-( BIG THANKS TO ALL THE PLAY DEVS AND CONTRIBUTORS

hey I think the desire z needs a Facebook group. My old phone (htc explorer) had a fb group and it was really informative about new roms and development being done. I know there is an irc but if someone created a fb group I think it would be really helpful
I'm making this a sticky. Hope that all the Off Topic Discussions will be limited to this thread only.
You can ask for feedback about ROMs on this thread. Just to be clear when I say feedback, I mean discussing about facts & not discussing about how you feel about a particular ROM.
Do not try to belittle any Developer /ROM / MOD / Other projects for any reason, I hope you all understand.
Regards & Cheers !

Its the best qwerty smartphone for me.
It could have more ram but.. well its 2years old smartphone.
Thank you all for your hard work all this time, but now it's time for me to say good bye to you guys since I'm changing to a new device. I've enjoy using my desire z with custom ROM all this years. Moving to galaxy note 10.1, keep up the good work and support.
desire z sill good enough, check new trick droid rom i like it too much.
The g2 is probably the most dev friendly phone.......doing all these stuff on my s2 is not that easy:what:

Just beat an iPhone owner.....the dude came around tranna make noise about his new iphone....not to bring too much disgrace to him I kept my s2 aside and pulled out my g2(running andromadus test builds jb).....so he did his siri thing and I did google now....paranoma, multitasking(which was actually the closest he got to beating me)......after this I really came to respect my g2...btw I had it overclocked to 1.5GHz.....which is actually another point cos he can't do that:thumbup:....... Hit thanks if you still love your g2...(if this was facebook that would have "like, if you still love your g2).......

Hello.
The moderating team assigned to your forum has decided to no longer allow any offtopic threads whether those were previously sanctioned by moderators or not.
We have come to this decision due to the fact that those threads offer absolutely nothing to the device specific forum or to development in general. After all the name of the site is xda-developers.
If you feel the urge to engage in any offtopic discussion, the offtopic forum is always at your disposal.
As such, this thread will be closed in 24 hours from this post.
Please understand that this decision was made only to streamline the forums ridding them from any topic that doesn't pertain to the specific device.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hehe...
This is the first time I saw someone is doing something like this and it's very nice from you...
We are all here to teach each other and learn...that's the XDA punch line..
Lolipop will be here soon and we'll have to learn few more tricks but as long as we have awesome java experts like @niaboc79 and Xposed wizard @serajr who are always here to help - we are safe...
Nice words brother @androidfreak70
now you have 503 thanks hehe ^^
we all here to help you like other people, even we started like that at the beginning as you know, but you will be great also time by time @serajr (i know this brother for a loooooong time and learned alot from him), @niaboc79, @Rajeev, @Ticklefish and @funky0308
are for sure great people !!
502, 5328 and 11899 respectively!
Guys... nobody got success by himself, everyone over here, even those titled as "wizards, experts" have something to learn, and they learn here, with noobs and/or "wizards, experts", cuz we are a community and we are hungry for knowledge, aren't we? So... there are no "wizards, experts", just people trying to do their best, and we want just to deliver you our best (I think sometimes we got)! Simply so!
Long live guys!!! \m/

Yes totally agree about that brother, we all still learning everyday and that day by day from people and with people and that is just great
We all do our best in that case.. always ^^
Thats why this stand in my signature:
.. The True Source Of Knowledge Is Experience ..
Thanks for mentioning me and if I've helped you at all, then I'm happy to have done so.
I'm merely an interested amateur that's learned about Android and how to fix problems with my device on my own by reading a lot on this great site. I just like passing along what I know, especially to people willing to learn, even if my knowledge isn't as great as some here. That's what this place should be about. Learning and sharing.
Cheers.

Thanks a lot for mentioning me. Never tought someone would do that like this hehe.
It's always nice to see that also users here on xda which have a lot of experience, doesn't think they are something better and they doing all better. They accept mistakes and they accept suggestions. I saw some forums which were the opposite of xda, so a community like here isn't of course for me.
Don't know what to say more than you're da real MVPs guys and keep moving forward.
@funky0308 @gripfly
Are you serious about this is the first time something like that getting posted? Or it's a joke?

I never saw something like this...
I guess everyone likes to play dr.I know everything and don't want to say all that what @serajr just said...
That's nothing but a true...
I mean my first Android device was Motorola Milestone...what 8 did to that poor device is, from this perspective, extremely funny...
I flashed everything I could find on XDA... (90% of that stuff wasn't for that device)
And I'm not embarrassed...were we all beginners...
I learned a lot f4om @[vertigo] and @shingers5 - thise guys were awesome...
Then I met Niaboc79 and Serajr and learn million things from them...
That should be XDA, learning and hanging out with xda buddies...
And I'm happy we have our micro society with awesome guys...
I also never saw anything like this.
It's unfortunate, but a lot of people come here to fix problems they caused themselves, then don't even say thank you afterwards. A lot of people PM me for help, then when I message back with the solution they don't reply back again. I used to get angry about this sort of person, but now I just point people in the right direction politely and move on as getting annoyed was detracting from my enjoyment of tinkering with my device.
As said by others, everyone has to learn somewhere, so it's good to be part of a community that enables that.

@Rajeev is right I know if I haven't bump into awesome group of people I would end up on iPhone... haha... Not
Yeah... @kingvortex
I agree, time has changed but I still respond to every pm/hangouts or mail I get to help...
And yeah...90% never say tnx or respond back but there's still 10% of guys like @androidfreak70 who have/had (sorry don't know this info) polite parents who raised him well and I respect that... That should be motive to move on and help, even if someone isn't polite.
Just check niaboc threads...
His roms were downloaded hundreds thousands times and he received (maybe) 10% tnxs....but he is here and he is working even better and harder...
My son is two years old and when someone give him something he always say tnx.
That should be normal, not something to admire but we are living in strange and odd times
Yes, I still respond. Sometimes it's disheartening when you type up a detailed response then never hear back again, but I don't let it bother me any more.
I was also raised to say please and thank you. Good manners cost nothing, but like you say we live in strange times now.

Those people who don't say *thanks* or other nice words just.. As @Pandemic always say they are JUST lazy to do that. They just take what they want then.. We won't see them again...
Those people may see this thread and those replies and check their selves and learn how to say *thanks* when someone help them.
