Looks like Motorola had plans for new Moto X to go on sprint? - X 2014 General

Found this in the root browser on the pure edition. Wonder if sprint will get on board.

Also found this buried in the phone as well

Verizon is listed there too.. wouldn't bank on that.

One is the regular branded version the other is the Verizon pure that Verizon doesn't want released

I believe

I expect we will see it on Sprint MVNOs. Probably starting with Republic.

Yeah Sprint MVNO is likely.

Moto X Pure Edition will get LTE 3, 5, and 7 via OTA!

Great news this morning for whoever was holding out on buying the Moto X (2014) Pure Edition due to the LTE coverage. Motorola has said that they will soon be enabling LTE 3, 5, and 7 on the Pure Edition via an OTA update!
http://www.androidcentral.com/moto-x-pure-edition-xt1095-may-soon-get-more-lte-bands
Effectively, both XT1095 and XT1097 will support the same LTE bands after this update rolls out.
Nevermind, I always forget Band 13... FML Verizon, worst network for tinkerers and phone junkies alike.

Huh? Verizon phones are factory unlocked and work on CDMA and GSM, compare that to what you get on T-Mobile, Sprint, or AT&T and Verizon has the best phones for phone junkies. Now unlocked bootloaders, I'll agree Verizon sucks with that.
Band 13 is only supported on the VZW edition Moto X (xt1096) and is one of their primary LTE bands. So yes the Pure Edition, or even regular AT&T edition for that matter, Moto X will work on the VZW network you are limiting your connectivity significantly.

They'll never let you bring your own phone. Never. Even if it did magically work on the network.

Factory unlocked, really? So I could wait and pick up a Droid Turbo and use it on T-mobile? Hmmm, may have to research this. Although, the extra bloatware would probably keep me away.
But, back on-topic...
This certainly makes the Pure a much more useful phone. It still needs Band 12 (T-mobile owns Band 12 in 2/3 of my county) to serve the US providers that it is intended for, but this is definitely a good step in the right direction.
Awesome this will enable LTE in Euro for most people. This makes the new Moto X way more versatile than the old Moto X which contains only:[2/4/17] ... basically i can buy a moto x for any of my European friends

Well we can't say with 100% certainty since it's not out yet, but all other Verizon LTE phones are factory unlocked and can be used on other carriers. I've used my Verizon Note 2, LG G2, and LG G3 on T-Mobile. The only issues you would run into would be an "unknown SIM" in the status bar, and you may need to add APN entries. If you root though, you can easily fix both of these issues.
Actually itd be wayyyy better if they dropped band 5 and just included 20 ... 800mhz LTE is essential for non rural cities in Europe.

Moto G 2015 Verizon

This is a bounty- $100 if you get the new Moto G 2015 fully working on Verizon. I assume the Sprint version should partially work having similar bands though the lte band 13 is missing. Since the bootloader is unlockable, I have hope someone will tinker around with the software to get this working on Verizon postpaid. I really want this phone and am really pissed I cant get use it. I have no interest in a phablet (new moto x). If you figure this out, the $100 is yours, via google wallet, paypal, or bitcoin. I'll just leave this here for now....
If I'm correct, you cant truly activate a phone on Verizon unless they have the IMEI number in their system already. I may be wrong though.

As far as I understand as well you are correct. I've heard of folks popping in a VZW SIM for LTE and getting hit with a fee for an "unknown IMEI" as well. It's Verizon's gateway you have to pass through, the phone has no way to force itself on their network.
that was not what i heard for the unlocked nexus 6 running on verizon

That's because the phone was already registered with Verizon's network.
The iPhone 6 has all radio bands, but if it doesn't come from the Verizon network (Say from AT&T, Tmobile) it will not be registered on their network. I would imagine that if any N6 works on Verizon its because Google setup a deal to register all IMEI's with them .. but I've not heard this.
Bump for answers.
Anyone put a Verizon sim in their moto g and try it?

Does the unlocked or at&t priv variants work on Verizon?

Just curious if any of you know if the unlocked or at&t version of the priv has the cdma radios to run on Verizon. I've been seeing the unlocked and at&t versions around $300 but the Verizon version is still like $500 and totally not worth it since I'd be paying a $250 premium on my nexus 6 for a phone with the only real updrade being a slideout keyboard.
No. The Verizon Priv has the Radios for it's Verizon service ontop of the Global GSM ones for other GSM Carriers Worldwide. The Unlocked GSM Priv either physically is missing them or its disabled by software at the Request of Verizon. If it's disabled there is a chance it could be enabled if the Priv ever does get rooted, something that Won't happen else it tarnishes BB's image, or BB enables it. And that's if its there. But it most likely isn't as the Only Major Carriers that use CDMA are Verizon and Sprint.

Does this mean that an unlocked VZW Priv would run correctly with an AT&T sim? 4g LTE?

BB Priv Better Version for Tmo US ATT or VZ

I have an opportunity to snag a Priv that is either from AT&T or VZ for the same price. I have read that the VZ model fully works on Tmo US, but I wanted to ask if anyone knows if there is a better version between the two for use on Tmobile? I realize that the AT&T has a ton of bloatware but do not know much about the VZ model. I am mostly asking from a functional use if there is ant differnce from using an ATT model and VZ on Tmo. Hope my question makes sense. Any feedback and or personal experience would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.
Edit - can anyone tell me if the Verizon model on tmo can use wifi calling? I can't seem to find a solid answer looking online.
Look at the frequences in this list here for compatibility issues.
http://forums.crackberry.com/blackb...ry-priv-models-supported-frequencies-1043968/
AT&T version supports more frequencies in LTE, but no CDMA (Verizon)
Second, AFAIK the PRIV from AT&T has a wireless charging coil which is AT&T exclusive.
I heard Verizon sucks at keeping their phones uptodate and is slowing down updates, i can't confirm or deny this, as i have never been an verizon customer.
Wifi calling? No idea.
My opinion: go with the AT&T Version.

I ended up coming across a att model for $140 in like new condition. I do have an existing wireless charger i am hoping to use on this device.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Tmo versiĆ³n has wireless charging, also there is no bloat. It's visual Voice Mail, my tmo, and I don't remember ever having to disable anything else. Been using it since about launch.

Moto G4 Play on eBay?

I have a Moto G4 Play with a cell plan on it.
I like it a lot, and am thinking of getting another one. eBay offers this phone for around $50-60 new, and these are Verizon locked.
Suppose that I don't care about using the phone to call people, but instead, want to use it for WiFi and for experimental purposes like rooting and for catching the Nougat update when it comes.
Does this type of cheap offer make sense, or am I missing something somewhere?

Can't unlock the bootloader via official Motorola method on Verizon branded handsets.
The verizon variant xt1609 is cheaper because it supports limited LTE and CDMA bands specifically for the verizon network, no GSM bands, unlike the xt1607 US retail version for example. See https://www.frequencycheck.com/models/GL1Wr/motorola-moto-g4-play-4g-lte-xt1609-motorola-affinity and https://www.frequencycheck.com/models/AzWPV/motorola-moto-g4-play-td-lte-xt1607-motorola-affinity for comparison.
