New ROM for Nokia X2.. Is it such a challenge for Android Devs!! - X2 General

Hi every body. I wonder why there is no custom rom for Nokia X2 although there are dozens of custom roms for Motorola Moto E. I had a comparison on GSM arena, and I found that they are almost the same cpu , ram , camera , screen size : http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6323&idPhone2=6383
. I like Nokia , but I'm starting to get frustrated because of this very weak and simple android introuduced in the Nokia x platform. I have been using android for over 4 years now. Nokia , in my opinion is a great phone manufacturer , but in terms of android, they are Newbies.
So, this is a request only addressed for Real Devs.. Is it possible to port a custom moto E rom to Nokia X2 ??
If Not , would it possible to replace the drivers in the Moto E custom rom with those of Nokia x2 to make it a working rom. I used to have a Huawei smartphone with lots of custom roms, and i managed to cook a miui rom from CM7. I'm not a dev, but I don't think it will be that difficult to do if some dev just guides me on how to do it.
For the devs interested in that, Here's a link on Moto E 4.4.4 Rom

Yes, I agree with you. Frankly I just need this Play store and Google Play services in order to play those apps.

Why you dont just installing 1MobileMarket Apps from Nokia Store to get your Google Apps?
Maybe some program was there. Alternatively, X2 still allow you to install from APK files.
And for me personally, Google Framework which is needed for Google Play and other Google App, will fill your memory and you get a huge laggines like other Android Device.
That's why Nokia build their own custom anything.
I never see such mid-end device playing almost 10 native multitasking apps smoothly without lag, even built-in Opera opening few tabs page inside. And your RAM still much to do other work. So, only X2 can do this, forget the OLD X,XL,X+ series and thrown in garbage. Personally I am satisfied with this condition, and enough to fill my daily use

I just want to have root access so my Clean Master, 1Mobile Market and Apptoide can install and uninstall without prompt. Even though I got an option to put Google Play Services, I choose not to so I can avoid that bootloop problem. I enjoy 3rd party app stores and I didn't see the need to install GApps.

even Nokia X was left out for some days but its waking up.the main problem with Nokia is.it comes with dalvik and devs have to break their heads to make ART work.camera is unique and different from others.things from source can solved bugs I think..reason moto e is fast in devolopment is,its comes with kitkat.as most roms are.based on kitkat it is easy bring down to moto e.I can say that Nokia X is the cause for failure of X2 sales.just wait, things will be goog for us.......Nokia Rules

Xperia X2

Hi, I want to share my experience with others.
I am using the X2 for 10 days now and trust me !! I am so frustrated with the irresponsiveness of the device. Sometimes it reboots by itself.
I was using a Diamond 2 before buying the X2 and seriously ... i wouldn't have changed if it not because of the hardware keyboard. I would have like the PRO2 but it's bigger.
I'm now waiting for a good cook to get the PRO2's rom to be ported to the X2.
Anyone's sharing the similar problems ?
UPDATE :
I put it on charge last night and now it won't even power on !!!

I've been using X2 for a couple of weeks and i'm not impressed. PLEASE someone make a ROM for it.
I know for a fact tha SonyEricsson is working on a new firmware but i don't think we should expect any miracles.
New features:
Video telephony
FM radio
FastGPS (quicker first fix)
Camera – startup performance, multi-shot, stability, usability (review mode)
SlideView – usability improvements
Panel manager - stability
Communication manager – performance improvements
Xt9 – Usability improvements
For SE the X2 should be a killer device!!! But X2 is not fine? I heard X1 wasn't very good neither. Seems like SE is not very good in building stable WM devices. Now they're trying Android? Good luck at least....
The X1 is ok, but it could be better

X1 is ok and X2 is better. I have both and I'm very satisfied with it. I like more X2 for design, display, keybord and camera are much much much better, gps is starting only with gps gate, and I'll wait to use radio. It has a nice virtual keybord, too. Internet Explorer is finnaly aswome, no Opera browser (not a tragedy, I instaled Opera mini 3.2 and Opera mini 5 beta, 'cause Opera 10 beta for wm takes a little too much RAM). Unlike X1, now you could use your stylus, if you need too. It has a very nice player (now I'm not useing wmp anymore). For me...X2 is the best choice
P.S. Dont't install S2U. I had problems with it 2 times and i decided to not use it in future.
Those problems mentioned in the first post shouldn't be seen as usual.
I think there's something wrong with your device. Therefore I suggest you return it to where you bought it.
If there are more people having these problems, then the X2 is just a total flop. I like its design though.
x2 is an nice device
i had one for 1 week
touch feeling 9/10
hardware is 8/10
software is imature 2/10
it hangs a lot
refering to 1st post
it has disable usb charging checked by default
so you need to uncheck that to charge phone

Huawei Ideos

Am I the only one excited by this phone? Looks pretty cool, and should be pretty nifty as a secondary device as well as for casual users.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/03/huawei-ideos-hands-on/
$100-200 off-contract price, capacitive screen, all the features of a "real" Android phone... all it needs now is a subforum here on XDA and a port of Cyanogenmod
What do you guys think?
+1, Xda section for that phone would be awesome.
Coz its damn cheap, http://www.techit.in/huawei-ideos-the-cheapest-android-froyo-device-will-hit-india-soon/
+1
I can hardly wait to see it in Europe.
It's a pity that there are no further information yet about possible providers, exact prices etc.
i'm also waiting for dev to make it rooted! hope xda would support it. it will be a cheap & fun toys to play with
This is the first phone that comes closest to bringing android to the power users who couldn't afford much more then the likes of e63 and e71 who come from countries where you buy the phone on full price..This has just been launched in my country and has been talked about a lot...the only thing stopping me to buy this phone right now is the community support I pray that xda developers understands the potential this phone holds and launch a community forum so I can be rest assured that I can find help.
Last time I frequented this forum was when I owned a pda2k and I held onto my pda2k not because it was so lovely but because I knew all my answers could be had at this forum.
I pray for the same enthusiasm this time around, please let me become a power user once again.
I have the Google / Huawei Ideos phone and loving Android. Would be great if we could get a howto about rooting this phone!
I just got this phone this weekend and upgraded from my (rooted, CM6.1-RC1) G1 that was giving me various kinds of grief and I gotta say, I'm not looking back. This thing is really responsive, has all the bells and whistles of 2.2 and is a really capable little device. My only problem has been the fact that some apps don't show up in the market because the device falls into the low-density small screen category of the market, and apps built against 1.5 or without a supports-screen in the manifest. I've been able to sideload apps that haven't worked without ill effect. I'd love to see root on this, just in case T-Mo decides to OTA remove the Froyo tethering love.
So the speed compares favorably to the G1 with Froyo?
Unless my G1 was acting really funky (which I can't discount, because it was being slow and crashy in recent weeks, even with a fairly fresh install of CM6.1) it's been much more responsive than my G1 was.
EDIT: I'm a fairly hardcore android user, though I don't use any really graphics or super cpu heavy apps, but it's ran everything that I used to have trouble with on my G1 without issue, for instance I couldn't leave an audio app running in the BG, it would end up either dying to getting killed off my the android system.
UPDATE! SuperOneClick works to root the stock ROM on this phone! Just need to add the appropriate string to the ADB Driver.

I got huawei ideos with android froyo 2.1 from a friend. Is It possible to flash windows mobile rom in this device? If yes where can i get that rom? I do know how to flash windows mobile roms in htc pocket pcs, but not sure about huawei ideos whether it will support windows mobile os or not, and hows this device different from pocket pcs.

No one will ever develop a custom Windows Mobile ROM for this device. This may only happen if Huawei will launch a Windows Mobile device based on the same (or on a very similar) platform, and that's highly unlikely.
Plus one for this lovely affordable one!

Lol Nokia X Aosp !!
Its Nokia X OS Platform !! Aosp is a term for Andorid Open Source project but Nokia X Os is galaxies away from being a
Vanilla android !! Well realistically yes you could port the Nokia X Os to n4. But none of the devs would like to!! Its based on 4.1.2 and minimum well have to get it to work on 4.2( that's what N4 came with) facepalm !!
Next head to the android app and development section and youll find the many of Nokia X system apps for N4 so why you want anyone to port !

I know very well what is the term "Aosp" and, if you read information about Nokia X OS, you find out that the system is based on the Android 4.1.2 open source project.
Why I'm looking for this porting? Because I'm curious, as I have tried other operating systems like ubuntu touch or firefox, I'd like to try this too.
In any case, thank you very much for the tip. I will try, in the section that you have shown me, if there is available a launcher or other software from the Nokia X.

Don't worry. I am going to use this phone for years anyways. Maybe until this very beloved Xperia SP forum, turned into a very quiet place. At least there are many things left for us to use on our phones, like Custom ROMs being actively developed, and maybe if you want to get all nostalgic you can use some old kernel and old stock-based ROMs and something like that. As much as I am sad to see this device unable to get Sony's attention, at least we still have some people who still contribute to it, namely those developers who worked hard to create custom ROM for our XSP. One of them even managed to try to boot L (lollipop) for Xperia SP once the source code has been released. Above all, try to be happy
It would be great if someone could pinpoint me to where I could learn on how to port ROMs and such. Because I am really serious about using this phone for years, due to my current age status that obviously will require funds to buy a new phone.

You don't need to be too dependant to companies. They will abandon us sometime and somehow. That's why there are developers. Our phones will live as long as it could until no one really cares about it no more but lets just hope that never happens.
For the tool that you want, it is Greenify. It hibernates the app you selected to save both battery and RAM. Unbouncing some wakelocks is a good practise too. If you wish I will elaborate more on this.
There are a lot man. I mean it, there are a lot of them Let's get interesting.......... Serajr Blurred System UI Xposed Module. That thing will make your notification slider transparent and blurred!

Actually you can benefit more from Greenify by purchasing its donation package. As you can see, Greenifying app disables GCM push (no more notifications) and doesn't really allow notification persistence. Experience with Greenify become greater of each level of "method". Greenify has 3 methods of hibernating, one for non-root, second for root, and third low-level system execution, through Xposed.
What is exposed?
Xposed is a great framework that runs within Android itself. The great functionality of this is modules (apps that serves purposes but runs on xposed framework) run without having processes thus saving your battery unlike persistent background processes
So combining the donation package with Xposed will yield extreme result but will still allow you to have push notifications come in, notifications that stay in the notification slider and many more great system level features.
If you are rooted, and don't want to buy a donation package, it is okay, but you'll require to move Facebook as a user app. From there you can finally hibernate it.
Wakelock "unbouncing" is not hibernating an app or something. You see, wakelock is an event where your device's CPU wakes up in the midst of deep sleep. Excessive wakelocks can cause battery draining issues. "Unbouncing" a wakelock and alarm is a good way to lessen the battery draining. "Unbounce" simply means altering the wakelock timer to any specific time that you've set. Use the application Unbounce to unbounce Google's battery draining wakelocks for free. If you want to unbounce some other safe wakelocks, you will require to purchase the donation.
If you wish to install a custom ROM I have made a guide (that does not attract attention though sigh) for very starters like you. Just head over here.
Since previous thread about updates is locked, I would like to use this one to point out that Android 5.0 "Lollipop" is officially released and here's a compiled and officially confirmed (by the companies) list of the phones which will get the 5.0 update so far. You can check the specifications of the devices on the list and draw the conclusion yourselves as to why our Xperia SP didn't get at least KitKat-based firmware update and who or what is responsible. Thank you.

ZTE Open C worth buying?

Hi everyone.
Just recently I have decided to move away from Google services. I want to drop everything to do with Google because I find them rather overbearing - they seem to think that they are the entire Internet and everything in it! So I am tempted to move to a Firefox OS phone. There is a ZTE Open C on Amazon in my country for 36 pounds. Is this worth it and will it be able to run OS 2.1?
I currently have an ancient Nexus S which I still love so I am not after blazing fast performance - I just want a basic smartphone that is free from Google. I have recently made the switch from Windows to Ubuntu too - I just love the opensource ethos!
Thanks.

as a previous user of the nexus s i can say that you will like this phone as a current user of firefox OS 2.2 on the ZTE Open C it works if u build it which isnt hard at all the biggest thing im running into is building older versions? weird i know but the release of Offical builds is all up to ZTE unfortunatly and i dont know much about them but i took it into my own hands and am building it my self
as a basic smart phone it works well though truthfully android has more options FxOS is still very early think Froyo-Gingerbread lifespan thats my opinion of course but it it is moving quickly
Hi.
So it is capable of running more recent versions of Firefox OS then? Can you explain to me what you mean when you say that you are 'building' the OS.
Have ZTE supported this phone after version 1.3?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Free mobile app
the official stock rom wont be updated anymore by zte, CMIIW latest version was 1.4
u can use custom rom mod by YemSalat , it is version 2.2
