Phone resets to silent mode - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My S5 has been putting itself into silent mode after each reboot. Other posts have mentioned sound profile apps, so I disabled Mr Silent app but that doesnt seem to be the issue. Phone, notification and system volume go to zero shortly after reboot and I get a "Google Play services have stopped" message (not sure if that is related). I am rooted running exposed modules. I am running OBB on SD so I am wondering if a sound profile has been moved- some posts have referenced default sounds replancing custom sounds when used. Checked setting in Wanam and Gravity box and thats not it. I have to go into the settings and manually turn up ringer and system sounds. Any ideas? Thanks.

Just try to uninstall some apps that you suspect.

Found the culprit. Silent boot app- froze it in titanium backup. working now!

PLEASE HELP!! Glitch is KILLING ME!!!

So I recently did a manual update to 2.3.2 , and since that update I've been getting this glitch that is annoying the heck out of me. While I'm on the phone , I hear the lock sound , as if I locked the phone. I checked to see if my finger hit the lock button and it was nowhere near it. I happens every once in a while but geez its annoying...Has anyone heard of or had this issue? If so PLEASE HELP. I've tried restoring the device and the glitch continues
It may be a part of your settings or a 3rd party application that is being restored after you restored your device. Try restoring your device again. This time DO NOT sign into gmail at the prompt. Instead, choose SKIP. Click the market icon from the app drawer and sign in from there. This prevents market from automatically installing apps, as well as restoring previous backed up settings.

Alternatively, couldn't you just turn the lockscreen sound off? I always forget there is even a sound because I turn it off.

I'm confused because my phone doesn't have a lock sound and hasn't since I first turned it on
Check that Settings -> Sound -> Screen lock sounds is off

Disable Ascending Ringtone

I've done some googling to see if there's anything out there, but they pretty much all say to download an app that needs to run 24/7 to disable to ascending ringtone.
I tried installed the "Increasing Ringtone Disable" Xposed module, but that does not appear to have worked.

[Q] Disable increasing ringtone volume Galaxy S5 Active

This drives me nuts. Damn you Samsung for not leaving it as selectable feature but are forcing us to have it.
OK, so far I've tried these methods:
1. Wanam Xposed, there's an option in Phone section that says Disable increasing call ringer - it doesn't work on my phone, it's checkmarked and doesn't do the job, rebooted a few times with no luck
2. Apps from PlayStore - I've tried HandyPhone and Disable Increasing Ring, didn't like neither.
HandyPhone had that feature OFF by default, to achieve what I wanted I had to turn it on and set start volume and end volume to the same value, say 10. In this case lowering the ring volume from the phone did not work since HandyPhone was always applying same volume setting (10).
Disable Increasing Ring - this didn't work so well, it did the job but not clean cut, it was leaving empty spaces in the status bar between other notifications, etc.
I saw somewhere SecPhone.apk patched but not for Galaxy S5 (Active).
Have I missed another way that can do this?

Today new buttons appeared in stock apps?

Today I noticed my 6P had some new buttons in some of the applications. I first noticed them when watching videos in the Youtube App, then zoom control buttons in the camera app. I first noticed this months ago when using Chroma after switching to many roms (Pure Nexus, Resurrection, Benzo) and finally going back to Chroma the buttons did not return. Suddenly today they came back! I didn't flash anything last night. What could cause buttons to appear in google apps?. The apps didn't even get updated.
settings > accessibility
turn off 'switch access'
If it is already off, you have recently installed some other app that is enforcing that setting, find it and disable or uninstall it.

Silent notifications when their sound is On

All notifications come silently, with vibrations only, although their sound is on. I think, that is because I use DND rules.
Does anyone have the issue too? How to fix that?
I have 3 devices and all of them have the same issue. The problem came, I think, when they got Android 8 or 8.1.
Just Google the do not disturb mode
Try and see difference between the modes
Look at automatic rules for DND
Voila

No-no. Of course, when DND is ON, I don't hear any notifications.
But! When DND is OFF, notifications don't play sounds.
Restart helps, but not always.

No. Maybe there is some app which causes the problem. And I am almost sure about it. Because just my phones have the problem and I cannot Google similar symptoms. But what the app - I don't know.
My unusual apps:
- ACR (audio call recorder)
- Google Fit
- SoloLearn
- Zedge

I use Google fit too and except a little battery drain ? i have my notification sound.
So you're not rooted etc... Just using app from playstore.
Start eliminate them one by one
1-Check apps that use accessibility service
(under settings / accessibility)
2-Check apps that use notification permissions
(under settings / applications / show permissions and look the notification tab)
3-Did the problem hapenned after a "specific date" it could also be an app update
Zedge app is made to customize notification sound try uninstall this one first.
Also is this happening for all app?
Did you put the ringtone sound to the lowest?
Because on stock notification sound volume is the same as ringtone one. (except with root - but maybe an app you used put it to the lowest)
Putting ringtone sound maybe would debug the thing.
Do you hear the ringtone when a call comes in?
I'm sorry bro i can just suggest some idea you already tried. I hope someone got the same problem and manage to fix. Maybe you'll be the one that will help future user in this case ?
Good luck with this. Sometimes solution is very simple. Sometimes it just need a factory reset. But you don't learn where you f*cked up
