TBH I've put the rest in the "magic and possibly placebo" category in my head. I don't see much difference between when features like Bravia and BINOZ are turned on and turned off.
Plus I'm not on stock ATM.

On older xperia phones, trackid couldn't work without DRM keys, but I guess Sony removed that requirement.

I have just unlocked my Z3C. Anything I should confirm working/not working?

There's a list of stuff in the OP that's been either only Reported as working/not working or completely unconfirmed. I'd really appreciate it if you could check on those. For reference:
MirrorLink
Miracast
Sony Entertainment Media (Music Unlimited, Videos Unlimited, etc.)
BIONZ Engine
X-Reality and other Album Settings (Bravia Engine)
Sony Triluminos Engine
Other Camera Features/Modes
DSEE HX
Audio Surround Settings
S-Force Front Surround
Noise Cancelling Features (w/ Headphones)
Audio Headphones Settings
Hi-res Audio over DAC
You probably don't have the equipment to test all of this stuff, but anything you could confirm would help.
Thanks!

I can confirm that X-Reality / Super Vivid Mode does NOT work (I tested before unlock and then it worked)
Time Shift Camera works
Face In Camera works
I have to test the camera more, since I'm not sure if the quality has changed, the images may have lower quality... Will compare to a Z1C which is locked.

Why can't Sony inform the users about trivial features like this getting ruined, instead of talking about them not being able to take responsibility for custom ROMs...

I manually selected HDR mode on both phones, so it is exactly the same mode.
Just to get a quick comparison, I took a picture with a third camera. On the screen you can see that the quality is quite poor. That was why I suspected something was not right in my previous post and grabbed my wifes Z1C.
So, yes I'm sure. The quality of the shoots in low light are not very good at all any more.

Maybe try to take the same photo in Manual 20MP mode without any SCN? That should preclude any Sony stuff and should produce a similar photo. Maybe it has to do with your display settings? Could you upload the photos you took directly?

[Q] Camera Issues: Skewed Images

Is it just me or has anyone noticed that the photos taken with the default camera app is a little skewed at the edges?
The camera is great for macro shots but when shots are taken from a distance, I can't help but notice that the subjects on the edges get distorted or stretched.
It would be nice if we shared our experiences on this. After all, this phone was touted to have the best camera at the time of the launch.
Thanks.

I feel this may be a hardware issue and not just a software glitch as I have noticed the same distortions with the in-built Charm Cam App. It could possibly have something to do with the lens alignments or maybe it's just an isolated case with my phone. But I have no means to verify my allegations as I don't have another phone to carry out comparisons.
In any case, I request other owners to please share your findings with regards to the image quality on this camera.

The primary reason i found for noise is that iso gets too high in auto mode.it might just be software issue. But we dont have other phone with same hardware(OV 16825)
Since kernal sources are avilable i hope they provide some light
Also as the camera is capable of [email protected] 60fps i would like if some dev removes this constrain of [email protected]

I took a 1080p video and found no distortion along edges this in theory proves it is not due to hardware problem i.e. lens alingment

Wow thanks, so without heat problem which can be resolve after an update, it it pretty close for the perfect smartphone ?
No Ram problem, Waterproof, Good Sound, Stereo speaker, LDAC for future compatibles devices, Good pictures for the back and front camera, Good Battery Life. And the camera does't go out as S6 or IPhone 6, etc...

I would like some full resolution samples from the front camera. In fact, I'm searching like crazy the exact resolution of the front camera all over the internet. How much does it's width and height measure? How many pixels?
It would be cool if you uploaded a screenshot with the camera app shwing the resolution settings to see the other resolutions supported.

Android 6 just got the Z5 Camera for Z3C!

I know a lot of you have been waiting for a better Camera UI.
Finally in the latest Android 6 Beta, there is a new camera UI, which they will be improving on!
Superior Auto still only has an 8MP option Hopefully they will improve upon that.
The UI is the same as the Z5 Camera, with a few improvements to suit the Z3C (Improvements / downgrades )

Well from what I have seen Sonys image processing is not that bad at all, it is quite the opposite, check this thread and you will see what I mean:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/camera-picture-samples-unlock-t2898606
With that being said, there are camera mods available which will use the camera processing libraries from the Z5 on Z3 Compact as well, but I wouldn't expect Sony to improve the camera quality on a phone which is over 1 years old, that seems very unlikely in my opinon....
But you can flash these camera-mods by yourself, I haven't tried these myself, so I can't tell if it's how it's working (not sure about if works with Marsmallow either);

Sony adds full Camera2 API support finally with Xperia XZ

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/xperia/technologies/camera/
Shutter speed control
Use maximum shutter speed (1/4000) for sharp images of moving subjects. Or try a slower speed (1 sec.) for a motion blur effect.
Manual focus
Decide your precise focal point. Bring the furthest away object into focus and defocus the foreground, or vice versa.

Still, the least min shutter speed from all manufacturers - HTC 2 sec, Samsung 10 sec, LG and OnePlus 30 sec. but the fact that Sony finally implemented that API is great!
Hopefully not only the XZ will get this and we will see updated cameras in older models.
sony fanboy here but still...1 sec? and samsung has 10 seconds shutter time? Is this what sony calls "innovation"?????
I wonder if they will update it with a longer time. I would like that.
I wouldn't call it "full" since it still doesn't have raw capture.

With This 100% I agree. Is this really full manual control? I mean Sony is a master in RAW imagining. Their alpha series got the best RAW as far as I believe.
actually i agree with the decision to not add raw. For now it looks like a useless feature on a smartphone to me. just a memory eater. Not even all the compact cameras has it and most of them make better photos than a smartphone. Raw files are mostly for professionals and they use professional cameras. And finally shutter speed control! that was the only feature i felt was missing on xperia phones
I would like t see RAW. I shoot it exclusively on all my cameras, so I would use it on my phone. You can use it or not, so there should be no concerns about space. Space is so cheap these days anyway.
The problem IMO is not RAW, it is that Sony is really lazy about adding the features from their new devices on the older ones(that support them). Remember 4K and timeshift video? Z1 didn't get them from the Z2 although they were fully supported by the hw. I think Sony will do the same with limited/full camera2 api support....
(would be very glad to see Sony disproving me)
I understand it's a marketing trick to force users to buy the new model, but supported users are happy users, and happy users will have their next device Sony again, which IMO is far better strategy
Finally,
Can anyone confirm whether ISO can be changed at 23MP and if Steadyshot works with still photos? Recombu seems to show it working in Superior Auto mode but the video isn't very clear with it.
I think the Z5 had it on its original software but after the camera app was updated in November it no longer had it, even though Sony claimed on their forum that Steadyshot is on by default.

Unfortunately ISO cannot be changed at 23MPx.
Moreover, even for lower resolution, it is not possible to adjust few options at the same time, like when you change the shutter speed, ISO and HDR etc are unavailable... They really need to fix this issueto allow us better manual control, and not only 1 option at the time + support higher resolutions and 4K videos.
4K is really biased, non of ne implemented technologies like 5 axis stabilization are supported in 4K.
I think Sony just added its old 4K app without updating it to combine with new features, sadly

I sure hope so, it is supposed to have more camera properties than ever before, even went down to 19mpix from 23 to have more light sensitivity for the camera. Furthermore, if anyone thinks RAW (which is already there in the Android source code) isn't necessary - well just don't use it then.
It's like saying "I don't need a car that goes above 75 mph, so it's unnecessary to implement"

various features of the HTC u ultra

Hi
How are the microphones in the u ultra, they're supposed to be high quality, how does the quality of the audio recording compares for instance to the pixel or LG? Can you detect any special quality about them?
How Is the sense companion and its utilisation in the small screen above does it work well or just a gimmick?
Did you try to operate the u ultra with voice commands? I read that the microphones are constantly on and listening
Thank you
Really Really good

Well I have been using U Ultra with voice commands amd they have been accurate. Audio quality of recording is godly as compared to any other phone in my experience. In the video recording option it has option to switch between Hi-res audio and 3d audio. In my opinion, no other phone can touch this when it comes to audio.
Sense companion is okayish. It complements google in some ways. It gives recommendations of places for lunch dinner etc, storage getting full, boost+ app cleanup (annoying actually).
Second screen is helpful in changing music, quick calls and event notifications. Haven't really gotten used to it in the 2 months I have been using it.

Thank you, I'm glad to hear about the great audio recording quality how does it compare to the V20 is it somewhat the same quality? Can you adjust and control the direction of the microphones?

I think no. I don't see any option to do so.
does the device have a notification LED? Is the second screen always on, or how does it work?
