Xperia Z3 battery life is insane - Xperia Z3 General

So I've seen a couple of posts online from various reviewers.
The Xperia Z3 will get you almost 10 hours of screen on time!! I've owned a lot of phones, and only ever just got past 6 hours.
I really love the idea of this phone, and Sony just keep on refining their Xperia line. I cant wait!

Agreed completely cant wait!

Anxiously awaiting a verizon drop. Im eligible to upgrade now but im torn between the ze, note 4, and droid turbo. Gonna wait it out a few more weeks.

I've just had it for 18 hours now and I haven't had a full charge yet, but I can tell the battery life is really great. I just unplugged it and I'll post some screenshots at the end of the day.

Could you also check how long it takes to charge from 0 to 100%, the z2 takes 3,5 hours to charge to full

Yeah, from what I've read the included charger is pretty pathetic but you can use 1Ah chargers and above to get a bit faster charge time.

It lasted for almost 34 hours with more than 5 hours on screen time in a single charge. No stamina mode enabled and this is with a Pebble smart watch paired most of the time

Cool, I have a Pebble too so worried how that would impact the astronomical battery times I've seen in the reviews. Good to know it's not a big deal.

Thanks a lot. Then i'm going for the Note 4, really hope Sony one day does something about the charging times cause 3 hours 55 minutes is a long time.

If you just stick it on charge overnight, it doesn't really matter. How long do you go without access to a charger?

those of you complaining about the long time it takes to fully charge the battery should realize you can buy fast charge wall adapters. I use it on my Z1 all the time and it charges it from 20% to full in just over an hour. only thing is you shouldn't leave it plugged in overnight cause it heats up the battery quick.

Every year i go on holidays for 4 weeks and during the day i sometimes have an hour to charge and with the z2 i had it didn't charge so much in an hour and with the s5 and note 3 it would charge to 60 or 70% in an hour so ready to go again.

I sold the z2 for 2 reasons, slow charging and the notification light that keeps blinking red when below 15% and no way to disable it, really annoying to look at a screen and see a red light blinking above the screen.
I tried the charger from my s5 but that didn't help.
Now have a LG G3 and i don't like it so need a new phone so it's gonna be the z3 or note 4 ( little tired of Samsung but like the fast charge )

Every night but take a lot of pictures and video's

Is charging with Magnetic slower than the original charging spot?

Its good for the battery. fast charging generally degrades battery life

No. You will not experience any charging related degradation of your battery during the time you have this phone. Even not after 3 years. A 3Ah Lion can easily handle 1A. That IS slow charge.
anything slower is pointless

The screenshot shows my usage, the screen was on for more than 37% of the time thoug,, about 70% of the time. MIUI has already had trouble displaying the actual screen usage. I got the phone thru that link though, when I clicked the link there was "other people also bought this item" and it showed the same battery for a little less. Total cost was $18 with taxes and shipping
oh miui does not display actual screen usage time? does that mean when you press display the time that it shows there is wrong? anyway i always thought that the % meant % of battery used of total battery usage as opposed % of time used since unplugged.
I'm considering buying another extended since the chinese one i got doesnt give me quite the extended battery life i desire. it was only maybe a 30% improvement as opposed to a 70-100% improvement that I'm looking for over the stock.
You talked me into it...just ordered!

Yeah, miui has two parts. The first is total usage since you restarted. The second is total usage since you last charged the batter battery above 90%.

lmao.... there is definitely an improvement in battery life that's for sure but 70-100% may be asking for too much
haha i just thought since the extended has like 2800mah it should be double? i dont really understand the technical stuff with the mah's so i'm probably wrong. i never had a problem with my stock battery. its just nice to come home at 70% or 60% rather than at 30 or 40%
I cant believe how fast I received it... ordered Tuesday morning and got it yesterday. I'm going to give it the test today at work. I have been streaming radio on shoutcast with my old battery and will see how this one does although I see where some have said you have to condition the battery first before you will get maximum life....can anyone vouch for this?

I sure hope this fairs better in the next week or two. I hardly used the phone, streamed about 30 mins of slacker.com and didn't make more than 10 phone calls and 2 texts.

If it was only one of the 1750mah batterys then you really should've done a bit more research, 3rd party batteries typically only have ~80% of the capacity they are rated at giving you ~1400mah or quite a bit less than the stock battery.

I like my Seidio 3300 mah battery a lot. It allows me to stream for several hours along with my normal usage (a call, couple of txt, beluga, facebook, & tapatalk). Did you let it sit fully charged for a few additional hours on the initial charge?

Give it a chance. If I remember right, first charge kinda sucks, but 2nd and third improve a lot.

Fyi I'm on acs rom 2.2 and the seido isn't impressive. It absolutely wouldn't last a full day with 4g on much less just 3g with pandora etc. I did all the charging etc etc. Only reason I sprang for the seido is bc sprint paid for it. Maybe I would of done the yao bao batt but honestly I don't think it matters. I have set cpu to 200-800 and never with this phone has the battery been amazing with any rom or any kernal. Just the nature of the beast.

Post How long your battery lasts

I'm pretty much happy with my Note battery back up.It goes 48 Hrs on a single charge.I have the following running:
1.Wifi/Data full time on
2.Autosync
3.Facebook/Twitter APW updates 15 minutes
4.Live wall paper (Galaxy)
5.Go Launcher
6.~1hr browsing+Youtube
7.Few calls
8.Display mode dynamic(it lasts longer with other modes)
i tried multiple picture wallpaper but the battery went flat in 12 hrs!
also any data monitoring widgets(i tried onavo) consumes a lot
other live wallpapers too
i guess we can post own experience to help get the max out of Note battery without compromising functionality

Even i was using note same as u, 48 hours on Stock ROM.
My display is always the biggest drain, you mustn't be using your phone much, mine normally last about 15-20 hours.between 3-5 hours of screen on time depending on brightness and what I'm doing.
Tap the graph to expand it and then show that screenshot. It tells much more about what has happened.

I am seriously starting to wonder if there isn't some sort of "Hypermiling" to get that battery life number up higher. Many of these 3-5 day numbers are a little unrealistic and give a false sense of what the everyday battery life is for most people. That being said mine seems to only barely make it through a day, though for 8 hours I'm using my bluetooth headphones to listen to audiobooks/music; that's a serious battery drain. I also need to figure out why my battery life has dropped ever since I moved from the stock rom to the various custom builds...
One day and 10 hours, running on EDGE on T-Mobile. Before I plugged it in, it was at 27% with 4 hours and 30 minutes of screen on time.
Good enough for me. I'm running stock GB just with root and CWM.

It's possible. You just don't use the device you paid $650 for and keep it as a nice looking brick on your desk. I can probably pull off 30 days in airplane mode and by keeping it in the freezer.
If I use it as a phone, and use my tab for browsing etc at home I've had it last 4+ days (with email being checked twice a day and a few voice calls here and there.)
If I use it like a tablet AND phone, like I do most of the time, then I get 2/3 days between charges. I don't do much gaming on it though, just use it for Web browsing and email mainly and have the screen brightness on MIN unless I'm out in the bright sun.
I'm on latest stock UK ROM and turn Wifi of whenever I'm not using it.
(having said that when Angry Birds Space came out I needed a re-charge after 1 day! And nearly a divorce lawyer too.)
I'm averaging about 9-10 hours :-/
Stock ROM
As of right now, I am at 52% battery left with screen on at 2 1/2 hours and almost 10 hours off the charger. I am on the stock ROM but rooted. I am happy with the battery life on this phone considering I came from a Samsung Epic 4G and it would have been long dead with 2 1/2 hours of screen time on.

Coming from Sony z2 and im bit dissapointed about the S7E Battery Life

Hello,
First i have to say i really like that Phone looks and feels very nice, changed a bit the ui and rly like it actually but...
The Battery Performance is very poor between a z2 and a S7e,
sure i know better screen bigger/faster cooler but when i see my old z2 can handle 2 (40 to 50 hours) days without charging and i get 400mah bigger battery in a s7e and only get around 20-24h from it thats very poor.
I hope they get something like the Stamina mode from Sony which is learning what you do on your phone to safe more battery, actually the Power saving mode gives me 1 more hour...
this phone is 2 years old now and perform so much better in battery stats thats just unbelievable.

That's why I always carry a 10000mah portable battery charger. No bigger then the phone do it's not a big issue to put in my pocket. I went 14 hours 27 minutes yesterday and that was down to 11%. I'm also a very heavy user tho. I stream, Facebook, text, kik, internet, watch movies, etc constantly. So to me that's actually not a bad battery. Came from the s5 and I was only getting 9 hours max on that. So this is fantastic battery life to me.

i never need to carry something extra on my z2 and i would say im a "normal" user fb a bit emails whats app etc i dont play on smartphones nothing. and compared to my old z2 when i go to bed i had around 40-60% battery left actually i have around 10-20% left on the s7e... i think something is wrong with the battery/software or something.
Battery life seems okay to me. Idle overnight for 7.5 hours is only 1% drain...
I do believe than an update from Samsung will improve the battery on the Snapdragon 820 edition. It's impossible for such discrepancy between Snapdraon and Exynos. On the other hand, it may be that Qualcomm is just behind with their efficiency and people are just not believing it yet.
I get 7-8 hours SOT.
I got 30hrs runtime and 11hrs SOT and am now on track to get almost 3 days runtime and 9hrs SOT. I'm not disappointed. Screenshots are in the post your battery life thread. I'm on my z2 tablet now so I can't post them. SD820 on Verizon BTW.
Something is obviously draining your battery. I really don't see why anyone complains about battery life of any phone the first week they have the phone. Most people never put the phone down. I got my S7 Edge the first day people got them with T-Mobile so I think two weeks now. I'm a power user and killed the battery once at like 8pm after taking it off the charger at 7am. I had the Sony z1 and returned it since battery life sucked.
I can't post my Gsam stats on the mobile xda app, but I am at 42% battery life left with 5 hours and 11 minutes of active time over the course of 9 Hours. Very heavy usage those 5 Hours btw. GearVR for 20-25 mins, YouTube for an hour and Spotify both to and from my work. With the occasional Web browsing.
Damn good for me.
I want to point out I disabled the majority of the bloatware with package disabler though.
I've moved from an Xperia Z3 and i find the battery life to be much, much better. No complaints here.
Ok this morning i get a popup about some apps moved into power saving mode now.
atm im coming home and get 70% batter left, WOW!
so far it says around 40h lifetime of the battery i think you are right guys i should give the phone a bit more time....
btw im on the european version of the s7e i think thats the exynos version right?

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I feel like I received a different phone from everyone else. On a normal day, I do 4 hour of SOT, start at 730 in the morning, finish at midnight with 50% battery left. This is with hundreds of emails received every day, youtube, web browsing, and maybe algal hour of calls.
Not quite sure how gsmarena got such a poor battery rating on this thing.

Same as that, the battery is ridiculously good.
Here are my stats after first charge/discharge cycle.

Good ..6 hours for me... But mainly on WiFi...
Im switching Roms frequently so Cant Tell much about battery.
But yeah I also wonder why everyone is rating it bad, because damn much phones have same sized ?.
Sure my overall experience is kind of sad, because I'm coming from a Moto z play where I got 2-3 days with 9+ hours SOT.
On AOSP based ROMs I had to charge it 1-2 times a day, which is ridiculous nowadays
But now on epic rom I find it hard to kill battery in 1 day, even if im trying to. I'm now at 50% after 7 hours of use with bit less than 3 hours SOT
I guess that's a good thing
1 hour calls. Set on 3G network.
Screen brightness ~30%. Was used 99% indoor so I dont need more screen light.
Browsing, facebook and some youtube on Wi-Fi. Only about 20 minutes on mobile data.
Here are my stats after first charge/discharge cycle
Does anyone have good battery life with two sims?
Seems to be a huge difference for me between battery life with one and two sims.

Interesting. Which ROM or MIUI version are you using? How is standby?
For me with two sims, it drains 2% every hour, or more.

Global stable 9.1.2.0.
I'd Def say it was less than 2% for sure, but I have a pretty good mobile signal all the time which definitely helps.
My word is absolute. So believe me when I say. Battery life of Mi Mix 2 is Fuking Godly. This phone never dies no matter how much I abuse. I will be looking to charge the phone but it got so much juice left still.

I believe they reworked the doze feature, meaning App-suspending.
