Moto X 2014 LED control - X 2014 General

Anyone wanna test if the LEDs can be software controlled?
/sys/class/leds/charging/brightness
/sys/class/leds/led:flash_0/brightness
/sys/class/leds/white/brightness
Examples:
echo 255 >/sys/class/leds/charging/max_brightness
echo battery-charging-or-full >/sys/class/leds/charging/trigger

Anyone?

I'd be interested in the same for Moto G 2014..

"Praise Jah" YOU people.!

There's a notification LED? I've never seen it...

No LED on my X
Sent from my XT1096 using XDA Free mobile app

When I took my X out of the box it had no battery, and when I first charged it I saw a green led, just like the old X had...

If only it's possible to adjust the brightness level of the LED.

This will need root

There definitely is a green led under the earphone.. If anyone did it work, please share!

This is true. I rebooted the phone by long pressing the power button and the green LED shows up for a sec or two.

Can confirm that messing about in those directories allow LED control. Essentially just putting it on. I imagine then with a root app and it hooked to notifications we should be able to have led flashing for various things.
Check this app. It works.

I also have a small red one on the bottom left & right corner.
if you let your screen go dark and wave your hands so the notification screen comes on then wait till it goes off and look on the bottom corners you will see a tiny pin size red let com on for 2-3 sec. have to do it in a fairly dark room.
Ok. just checked, I cant get any green lights but there is a total of 4 , 2 on the bottom corners and 2 on top . Those are the sensors and they have a faint red light they come on every time the screen notification goes blank. and turns off within a few seconds.

Those are your low powered IR sensors to detect your hand movements, not the notification led

you should be able to adjust brightness from 0-255? correct?

Shame it's not an RGB light!
The biggest change I'll need to get used to coming from a Nexus 5 to Moto X is the lack of an LED. Really like the concept of active notifications though.

Link to Root app for controlling Moto X LED when charging/charged
XDA Member stephen Milone wrote a wonderful app for the original Moto X. I am running it on my new MotoX 2014 without issue. here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...-x-charging-led-control-tasker-t2602689/page3

Man I'd love to have the LED blink when I have a notification! Any chance of that happening? I don't really need to know about charging

Isnt there any way to use the amoled screen but just some píxels to show a light? To use it like notification led, not the active display?

LED colors

So this trackball LED is supposed to be able to show 3 different colors, right? So far mine only blinks white. What makes it turn other colors?
if its connected to bluetooth headsets or handsfree it will be blue.
That sounds kinda boring ._.
I heard it has an RGB led under there similar to how the G1 had the RBG next to the speaker.

Yeah, I was really hoping that different apps could set it to different colors like the G1 can. I used to have one color for IMs, one for texts, etc. I forget how I set that up but I don't see any options for it now. But I'm sure I remember seeing apps where it asked you what color you wanted the LED to be. I think AK Notepad has that option...
Im agitated by this feature missing.
Handcent ,Missed reminder do not activate these LEDs.
Very dissapointed.
I was assuming the same thing, I loved that feature on the G1. It helped me know what I got, before having to view it myself. Even the Sidekick LX has more colors than the N1, that is, if it only has 3 o_o the option is completely removed it seems? How disappointing..
On the G1, we used Missed Call to set colors.
give it some time the phone has only been out for 2 days
Has anyone confirmed that this is NOT a multicolor capable LED under the trackball?
My guess is that there aren't any apps, yet, to address this capability on the N1, yet. I, too, would be disappointed to lose my colors and the missed call app.

Short version:
Flashing White: Incoming call
Flashing Blue: Incoming call while a bluetooth headset is attached
Pulsing White: new notification

I was thinking this exact same thought, I figured since the mlevin said it was capable of going only 3 colors, I assumed it could do that. I once also thought that the LED on the G1 could only go; Red, Green, and Orange, but that has also changed.
EDIT: So there is also a "status light" embedded at the top of the device, hidden behind the black tracing around the screen? Why has this not been mentioned anywhere o_0

Aokp users led notification light

Found a trick to the led notification inside the ROM control area. If you would like to change the color of your LED notification do not use custom colors to the left only use the slider to the right and then set them.
The slider to right is the colorful one

What's the difference between Set and !!!? So all you do to change the color of yours is use the slider on the right... do you need to then touch the right-hand color swatch, the Set button or !!! so it takes effect?

I can't seem to figure out how to get mine to show anything other than a yellowish color. I'm using the slider on the right and hitting set, but to no avail. Just attempting to get back the stock blue, much less abrasive.
EDIT: Unsurprisingly it turns out that I'm just dumb and was overlooking LED settings within other apps...Oops! OP recommendation works just fine. Thanks!
No problem and don't use the !!! Just click the new color and done like I said it's close to the color that you pick but not perfect. Some notifications automatically come out red on their own for example Facebook notifications etc. but system apps seems to be the color that you pick
After installing this on my phone the LED won't do anything when charging, fully charged. Any reason why? I tried light flow but its bugged for the S3 right now.

Don't use light flow. It eats battery and the built in notifications never fail.
I'm currently using the exact same set up as you...carbon + matrix and I have no issues with my led notifications. When you flashed the rom, did you do a clean install?

They flash the wrong colour when you test them or when they are actually being used in a real life situation.

Its common for the LED to flash a mixed colour when I have more than one notification, instead of flashing the correct colours in some kind of sequence.

My apologies if this has already been discussed somewhere.
I would love to see that awesome power button notification light glow after receiving a text, whatsapp message, email, etc.

Yeah, I don't get why they'd go through all the work and cost to integrate an led in the button to only have it play when getting/on a call (who would need that??) and when an alarm goes off (again, who needs that??). Makes sense to have it for emails/texts/etc.
Hope this comes out. I haven't had a chance to see if LightFlow can access it.
Anyone email the lightflow dev? He has supported alternative led's in the past.

I too may be seeing what you are.
I have lightflow setup to throw a white led for gmail, but.... when the screen is locked (I use pattern lock) and off, first the led flashes green for gmail. Then after I wake the screen, the led switches back to white as it should for the lightflow setting.
I've tried setting lightflow to reset the led before throwing a notification but that did not fix it. The other kicker is it doesn't always seem to do this green then white problem. Under the phone settings it does look like lg has set up quite a bit of an interface into the led, the front and back one. Most of the conditions for the led to come on are defaulted to only a green option in the phone setting. I've turned them all off so lightflow can control and determine the color etc. I even tried turning off the led function in the phone settings hoping that only lightflow would control, but the phone settings actually do keep the led completely off if set.
It's not a deal breaker, but I use green for google voice texts that are a much higher priority for me to take a look at.
I think the lg system on this phone still has some "tendrils" into the led settings that are getting in the way of lightflow having full control?
Also, for what it is worth, under the lightflow settings, it does show that lightflow does detect the back led and others so maybe the dev of that app can add some functionality in their copious free time
Yep. That's the behavior I'm seeing. Not the end of the world, but it kind of defeats the purpose of giving different colors in lightflow. I agree that it's likely due to the hooks LG still has present or something the LF devs need to iron out with this device. I saw those extra options for LEDs as well, but I wasn't able to get them to do anything. The lm3630 is the control for the backlight of the screen (found that while looking for a CABL control). I have no idea what the mmc1 is.

Light Flow - Control LED [ROOT] Paid Version

Some people are trying to use Light flow to enable the LED for custom notifications, heres how to :
In order to get this working as far as I have tested you need the following :
1. Root
2. The Paid Version of Lightflow - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow&hl=en_GB
3. Enable the LED in Sound & Notification settings
---------------------------------------------------------------
Jump into Light flows general settings and enable :
Show LED in priority mode
Accessibility check
Enable Clear All - Optional

Facebook or other apps...
I use LF wiith Sony XP z3c rooted, but did so with it (paid ver.) before root and found if you use the likes of Facebook and have notifications on within app settings it will designate blue colour regardless to the LED whether LFlow is installed and configured or not..I have a feeling I've maybe made an underhand silly comment here lol I hope not but just a suggestion I'm not entirely sure if there needs to strictly be a notification ongoing for it to flash in these cases... I appreciate as I'm new here all of you guys are respectful wizards compared to me so forgive my perhaps obvious novice-like rhetoric... hey ho...

Do you have any notifications at all? With "pulse notification light" enabled in system settings, you'll get a blinking blueish light for certain apps' notifications via Android itself, nothing to do with Lightflow.
all sorted thanks uninstalled light flow reinstalled and all fixed
