Will reviewers usually get this early? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do reviewers usually get these phones before the release date? What are the chances we will get to see some good reviews of the Note 4/Edge before the rest of us can get our hands on them?

This is going well...

Oh snap...My B...I saw that and given the context honestly thought it applied mostly to technical/support questions. I really did think this was more "general discussion" topic. A million apologies to everyone.

Uggggh, not again.
More rumors. There is no basis for this report. I got a tweet that simply says they are still on course for 2Q2010. That is it.

Does anyone here even care ANYMORE? It will prolly be a downgrade
compared to what we have now anyway with a bunch of flaws
just like our 2.1's in the beginning. Look what the devs have made
for us and APPRECIATE it. Start a thread after you have compiled
AOSP or find someone who has....I THINK MORE THAN A FEW OF
US WOULD REALLY LOVE TO SEE THAT POST........this isnt
twitter, and most of here arent morons. So if YOU know it, you
can probably bet WE do too...FYI
Be warned.
People here do not like these rumors showing up on this forum.
They will have it removed.
I know. Happened to me.
Yet when the date was March 26th, no one had them removed.
This forum needs one of those setups where when you starting creating a thread the forum searches for keywords and gives you options of threads that have already been created before creating the thread. Ive seen it done before. They should implement something like that since no one likes to or knows how to use the search feature.
Can we please stop posting on speculated dates and wait until this *actually * comes to fruition?
Waste of time to even post on this.
you spin me right round baby right round, like a record baby right round right round.....
I was bored so I e-mailed them and told them people may believe it more if they used a picture of a "Sprint HTC Hero"

lol classic!
who cares!
we got 2.1, the only good that can come of this is the brillant dev's here taking the crap sprint dishes out and making something truly awesome. Which is really hard to imagine since DC's current rom is pretty dam on the money, at least for me anyway.
I propose that the next person to post that link be banned.
Ya I would only care from one of these if it was an OFFICAL date from sprint. and then I would just blow it off anyway and continue using my Rom like nothing happened

I think the post is accurate, it does say HTC Hero roll out April 16th FOR Europe though “Nordic/Greek/RUS/UKR/SA” regions. They say it will trickle down to Sprint which will most likely be April 30th which sounds pretty close.
I could've sworn this was a discussion forum about the development of the CDMA Hero. Weird.
I must be lost because these people don't want to know any of the news (which does often include rumors).

Upcoming Sprint Android phones?

I love my Hero but I've been wondering what new phones, official and rumored, are on the horizon. October a year will be up so something by the end of the year would be great.
Oh, touchscreen keyboard is my preference but since others might like to know what Android phones are heading to Sprint with a physical keyboard feel free to post either.

Not only is that not helpful because I'm looking for feedback from people who may have more insight from better sources instead of most the crap that's out there, but you didn't even bother to specify 'android' in your smartass reply.
Again, if anyone has heard any real potential android phones coming to Sprint please drop some info and/or sources.

It seems like this question gets asked here at least once every couple of weeks. Here's one from just last week: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=762198
The bottom line answer is always something like this:
Checking tech sites/blogs like Engadget, Wired, CNet, etc., as well as the official Sprint web site, is probably going to have just as much info and/or rumors as we would here. People who are "in the know" about what might be coming out soon are probably under non-disclosure agreements and can't even answer this question.

I decided to tell Motorola the truth

I Have been talking with moto reps and people all week, and also a few friends with moto to solve some of our problems *fingers crossed* but i Know that personally i am at a cross roads with the device and i wont even have it till tomorrow lol so i decided to write in to Moto here https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/45249?tstart=0
as well as applied to every development program and testing thing they had, if you are like me and will more than likely return the device no matter how nice it is if we or they dont come up with a solution before the 30 day return period i encourage you to do the same. I do ask though you appeal to a pleasant tone and leave the brute force method for the dev attempt to fix the problem
I think this is a good step, but I don't believe motorola will listen to people on their forums. When they decided to use signed/encrypted bootloaders, they were no doubt aware that some people would get angry and complain. That post was expected and as such probably won't make too many waves.
What if it wasn't just a single post? What if we got as many members as possible to post on Motorolas forum with their thoughts on the signed bootloaders? Good or bad idea?

sort of... basically my number in last post are hugely glorified truth is they are right that people that care about bootloader are minority compared to over all sales that being said they wont notice if simply didn't purchase there device, would it hurt them yes, but over all they prob dont need us to survive, but how ever if we were to purchase than return they would have to take notice as to why 15% of pre ordered devices got returned with in the 30 day period
High level techs are a minority.
Also awaiting a response from Motoguy on the forum there. Wish you would have posted the original comment so we wouldnt have to wait for this guys return and comments.

Um, if that is the case Motorola is marketing to a small amount of people. You also have to consider that when I say high level techs i'm talking about those that frequent a forum such as this and others. There are not many of us compared to the general consumer population. Hence forth you get the statement where if you are looking to mod you should look elsewhere. You have to realize that we (the high level techs) represent a small fragment of the general public.

Galaxy S Gingerbread rolling out in Europe

http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/16/galaxy-s-gingerbread-update-now-rolling-out-across-europe/
Looks like the i9000 is actually getting that 2.3 update. Maybe some other SGS models will start seeing it, I'd say everyone but us will get a glimpse.
Wrong section.
But yeah, at least the gs family looks like it will all get gingerbread.
Usually if its pertaining to Froyo/GB people don't mind seeing it in here. Hell, most people only view this subforum of the Fascinate and not general or any others. But you're right.
I feel like the Epic and Vibrant will get it in a few months, and then 25 years later Captivate, Mesmerize, Fascinate.

I don't see how it'd be ironic if Samsung is first.
Google worked with them to release Gingerbread on some hardware that was only slightly different from the rest of their phones... They had an experience, resource, and time advantage over every other carrier... and yet they failed.
That's ironic. Samsung had every advantage, and yet couldn't even freaking get Gingerbread out on their flagship product before someone else. Seems like more motivation to me to avoid any future Samsung products.
And yeah, where to post things seems pretty obvious to me: Any discussion thread, where we're just talking about various random things go in General, questions go in Q&A, and actual releases (or things closely related to development... random questions about a ROM wouldn't warrant a new thread) go in Development. Posting things in the wrong section just to get more eyes seems fairly silly to me... if people aren't reading General, it's probably because they aren't interested in those things, probably only wanting actual ROMs/kernels/etc. Then again, making any comment on this topic seems to be a good way to get people to just flame you.

Its not up to you to decide that just because more people go here that "news" should also be in here as well
The rules are the same for everyone..otherwise development sections would be even more cluttered and difficult to navigate than they already are

Thank Goodness For Polls

Polls here show that the vast majority of owners do not find the Note faulty. However, there are threads here which seem in denial of these polls and are still claiming that the Note is faulty. Thank goodness for the polls so that we know that these faulty claims are not supported by the vast majority of owners.

So you really had to make a new thread for this?

Of course not. All I am saying is that the evidence from polls here does not support the claims that all Notes are faulty.

Yes, because when there are threads claiming that all Notes are faulty then it is only fair to the Note to point out that polls here suggest otherwise.
Can you link us to the claims that all the notes are faulty, im wondering my self.
I dont see how that poll can change the fact that i got 3 notes in the row, all with 2+ dead pixels
10% faulty rate from that poll is not high?
Plus, how accurate do you think a simple poll can show? I mean, instead of voting 3 times for my 3 faulty phones...i can only vote once!!
My believe is...if you are lucky enoug to get a perfect phone...please be kinder to us unlucky ones who REALLY had a stressful times with this problem, and stop starting new threads like this to try and make us feel worse. Please try and put yourselves in our shoes

There are many ways of claiming something is faulty without saying it explicitly such as thread titles like "WI-FI Issues", "Screen Issues" etc which are easily spotted.

I saw a ton of reviews and everyone loved their units. I came to the forum and I saw tons of complaints. I didn't think it was right. I started the poll to see of everyone hated their device.
You guys might be getting all the duds from a single batch from a single seller or single batch directly from Samsung. I feel and see now that most people don't have any issues which is the most logical thing. But this forum only had negative posts.
I think the poll helped me decide to buy the phone. while all the other threads discouraged me from it. That's not normal. So I took the plunge.

Thanks to your poll we know the vast majority of owners are not experiencing the faults suggested by the loads of complaints on this forum. It won't stop loads more complaints but at least owners and prospective buyers now know that the complaints do not represent the experience of the vast majority of owners.
Thread closed
Forums generally attract people who are looking for solutions to problems they are experiencing. That is why you see a higher number of complaints. Arguing with people who have had issues is extremely counterproductive and only leads to contention. Ignore the poster who don't post according to your own desires.
