No Connection to 4G on N9005 - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys,
My phone never locks onto a 4G signal, as if its disabled.
Tried many solutions, editing lte_on list (my network was already there, never had to edit), setting property file to True, but none has worked so far. Im thinking of changing my CSC Code to BTU, since I have a stock firmware for that and most custom roms have the CSC for it.
I have never paid attention to what CSC Im on, since it gets changed and it always says applying multi-csc rather than displaying which one. So this time Im gonna flash a stock rom with full (pit) wipe and try to change it to BTU.
is there anything else that I should try before this step?
Its a N9005 Generic International device, purchased from a samsung store, and yeah I have the WCDMA/LTE option in network settings.
Thanks!

[Q] Not registered on Network Please help

I've Boughten an unlocked Galaxy Note 3 SM-9005 on ebay. To use for straight talk in the United States. The first sim card i had in it was a normal sized sim card that i had cut (instead of micro) And after fiddling this sim card had worked from 4-5 days. Then i started to get the error message "No service" and "Not registered on Network" I had figured the sim was probably the reason to why i was not being allowed to call or message. So i bought another brand new micro sim card. And then put that in (Again with straight talk) and i am still unable to call or message. I have checked my imei number and it is the same as the one on the back of the phone. I have tried to re-register on the network within the settings on the phone. With no luck whatsoever. I have noticed that the CSC is not correct for the united states. And in hopes of fixing it i rooted and installed a custom rom. (IMEI is still the same)
If someone could please help...I am Stumped[/FONT]

Head over to Sammobile.com find the right CSC/Firmware for your country and flash it Via ODIN on the PC.

On sammobile there is not a firmware for Sm-n9005 that is in the united states. Or thats what it looks like

Given the details that you have provided so far the most likely scenarios that I see are:
1) there is a mechanical problem on the SIM contact
2) the seller was on some form of a contract and has reported the phone stolen, so the IMEI is now blocked on some or all carriers.
DO NOT MINGLE WITH THE FIRMWARE at this point (and also disable any automatic updates of the firmware).
Also if you want further technical info (and not just guesswork) you should post the output from *#1234#

It really does depend on the issues xclub has brought up.
If it was me, I'd rule out SIM issue (the card itself) due to having a replacement, although it could be an issue with the SIM Tray.
And if it is used, then yes it is possible that it has been blocked by the original owner.
EDIT : Do you guys in the US have an IMEI checker for blocked IMEI's etc? in Europe we do it's called CHECK MEND.. Might be worth having a look or alternatively give your network a ring, they'll know for sure.

Ok so you have the same firmware as me, I am using BTU which is UK (I am UK) - So your CSC does indeed need changed to match you for US use - -- Firstly does your network support the available frequency required? (do you have LTE?) - If so you can change you CSC to your required region But another factor --- are you aware of region lock? has it been disabled that you know of? - this could cause some issues if it hasn't been deactivated - I'm not sure when changing CSC/firmware if it reactivates region locking or not
EDIT: I think only T-Mobile supports the N9005 in the US ( I could be wrong) --- Need a US user to chime in here I think to be 100% sure!!
Going with an Unknown carrier on CSC/FW- May not solve it

Don't see why not, plenty of people are buying them and plenty selling them.
majority of users have no idea what Knox is tbh, it's ultimately up to you if you disclose this to them or not.

That looks like EU version. Since somewhere else you mentioned that you rooted then the next thing to try is Region Lock Away:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470551
since the phone might now be "hit" by the EU region lock (an even simpler test would be to insert an EU SIM just to see if it registers on some network for roaming). If RegionLockAway fixes things you can then see what version of firmware you want in order to get LTE from your carrier.
If you want to sell the phone - being rooted might even be a plus, but having Knox 0x1 is certainly a major minus.
I did get region unlock and it did not work. And when i try to install the unknown firmware i am unable to flash it with odin i get all sorts of errors (I tried two of the unknowns) BTW thanks for the help
Please help, I flashed it to Android 5.0 and I did root for it and used region unlock app and still I face the same issue, please help me

[Q] Note 3 N900W8 Not letting me choose network

I've been trying to fix since installing the new update at 2pm (PST) today. Finally decided to post a question here hoping someone more knowledgeable can help me fix it.
I bought the phone and it was locked to Bell so I bought a code and was using it on Fido. I flashed the Telcel 4.4.2 update and after I flashed all the files it worked (I tried not flashing modem). When it started I got a screen that said "Network Lock" with only a dismiss button (i.e. nowhere to put re-input my unlock code). If I click it 3 times it lets me into device. In the status bar it says "Invalid SIM card" "Network locked SIM card inserted". When I try to make a call I get "Not registered on network"
I've also tried flashing my old modem.bin via ODIN but that just cause the phone to boot and vibrate a bunch. I was able to get into settings but no option for Network Operator or APN.
The network doesn't work but WiFi and everything else does. So I rooted using the new N9005 root. Added APN settings, and of course, looked for network operators. Fido doesn't show up but all other carriers do (except Chatr).
I'm in the same situation as you are but which new N9005 root are you talking about? I'm on Rogers so if I can use that to get my signal back, that would be awesome.

I got the autoroot installed and working fine. It says invalid SIM.
Previously, I had installed the firmware without flashing the CSC and I don't remember having sim lock issues then (as the Telcel specific files are not flashed) however you have to deal with the Samsung keyboard repeatedly crashing, so you have to find a way around it.
So my suggestion is reflash without the CSC file and brainstorm a way to put another keyboard on it without needing to input anything first (so Google Play is a no-go), probably side load a keyboard apk through ADB or something. Going to give it a shot.
---
The keyboard idea worked fine. Unfortunately I did still get the region/sim lock stuff because everywhere outside of Canada seems to have it turned on and the ROM defaults to tmobile without the CSC apparently. I've decided to bite the bullet and just pay for an unlock as I was planning to do so anyways.
---
And that worked until I rebooted and it asked for a SIM unlock code... well... damn. I'm just going to try to flash a rom with region/sim locking removed. Ugh.
Looks like we can fix this by downgrading or creating our own Rogers files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608178&page=54
I have the CSC and modem.bin. Tested and working (remember, I flashed PIT as said here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49512809)

I rolled my own too. Working fine.

[Q] G900F Network registration problem after flashing

Hi I have international version of S5 G900F. I flashed the phone with UK BTU stock rom. Now the problem is I cannot connect to the Network.
I tried going to Settings->More Networks -> Network Operators -> Select automatically . It took 5-10 mins to search but cannot connect.
Sim is not locked as it was working before I flashed the stock rom. also I read somewhere in internet that once the phone is region unlocked, it is permanently unlocked to use any other country sim. I don't know the original region of my phone but I bought it in Uk from 3rd party dealer not from any carrier.
I can think of two thing at the moment. It should be either regional locked again, but it does not prompt any thing to activate or enter pin or anything like that. or it should be wrong modem.
Is there a way to find if the phone is region locked ?
and is there a way to find correct region of the phone ?
the label on the box was removed so I cannot find from the box as well.
Thanks in advance.
I still haven't fixed this problem. Could someone suggest how to fix?
I've attached some screenshots with my phone info.
first image shows NETWORK:UNBLOCKED and IMEI Certi: PASS
-> I think this means, the phone is not blocked by network, and IMEI certificate has passed so it's not stolen or lost claimed phone.
another screenshot is the Firmware and CSC code/country information,
-> this means, this phone is build to sell in UK, so UK sim should unlock the regional lock.
Also the phone was working fine before I installed stock rom which I dowloaded from sammobile.
in the sceenshot, one of the network is connected but it says emergency call only because it cannot register to the network.
It is not sim lock also, because when I put T-mobile sim it does not ask for pin to unlock also.
what is wrong here. any idea guys? xda supposed to be the biggest android forum and samsung s5 is one of the most popular phone at the moment, isn't there anyone who have similar problem and solved? or atleast give some reason this cannot be fixed at all.
does the TMobile sim work? does it register with the network? If yes, then call the provider (of the other sim) and ask what's going on. Maybe you have a broken sim?

I've tried with Orange sim, and it still cannot register to the network. When I put the orange sim, it pop up a dialogbox asking to choose a network provider, there was two options, T-mobile and orange. So it is detecting the sim, but it cannot register.
And also, I tried my sim in another phone, and my sim works in another phone without any problem.
Did you try to flash the firmware again, and then after that restore factory defaults?

Yes I did, still it didn't work. I emailed samsung customer service with the problem, and they asked me to restore factory defaults.
I did that again but didn't work.
I tried one custom ROM as well. same problem in that rom.
You're rooted? If yes then there might be problem with the modem part of the ROM, can you install the official one part ROM and try with that?

I've installed stock rom several times, and several different versions( from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SM-G900F&pcode=0 ). Rooted several times, installed modem.bin files several times from many custom rom/ stock rom. None of them worked. I tried installing modem.bin when not rooted as well. And all the attempt failed.
I did everything I could possibly think of , Then I posted the question in the forum.
You have the IMEI ??!? Or it is lost?? Then only per efs-backup…
Or sim is broken…

Sorry i end up selling the phone as is..

My g900f has no mobile services sims fine
I have the same problem.
Cannot connect to network after flashing new ROM. Since then I tried about 10 different original roms and couple custom roms. Number of different MODEMs and BOOTLOADERs but with no joy. SIM card works fine in different phone.
Also I tried to load different CERT files and QCN with Z3X Box but that didn't help either.
I've tried *#0011# command here are results:
with LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto-connect:
imgur.com/i69HCBM
with WCDMA only:
imgur.com/QPbvKHG
and GSM only:

It seems that GSM is not working at all.
At this stage I run out of ideas and probably gonna get rid of the phone as it is or use it as pimped-out ipod touch
(sorry for messed up links but I can't post to outside sites yet)

Note 3 N9005 LTE 4G Doesn't Work, Do I need CSC change?

I've searched the forums and no one seems to have an exact FIX for my issue. So I have a Galaxy Note 3 N9005 32GB black version, the phone works well in 3G, never had an issue with it but now my network provider recently upgraded their plan and offers 4G internet but my phone doesn't want to connect. The provider offers 4G through BAND 1 2100MHz and Note 3 N9005 does have that band but it doesn't want to connect. It only works on 3G and when I enable Mobile Data it says H+! Not once has it connected to 4G!
I wanna mention that my friend has the exact same N9005 phone and his phone works on 4G all the time. Both of us have the same contract with the same network provider!
The only difference between our phones is the CSC region, we have different CSC. MY SIM card works in 4G on his Note 3 and his sim card doesn't work on 4G on my phone. (we exchanged the SIM cards for testing). So the problem is from my phone not from the SIM card. My phone is also original, its not a Chinese clone! Its confirmed with "Samsung Phone Info" app from Play Store.
Here's a few things I already did that some of you may be inclined to recommend to me:
1 - My APN is correctly set
2 - I am on official stock Android Lollipop 5.0 latest version and the phone is not rooted
3 - I already did a factory reset + wipe cache partition
4 - I saw others suggesting that people may not be in the range of a 4G tower! Not the case! Like I said, I switched the SIM cards with my friend on a public bench, out in the open, not even behind walls. Of course and his phone connects to 4G with his SIM card and also with MY SIM card while my phone doesn't connect to 4G with neither of these SIM cards.
5 - In Mobile Networks > Network Mode, my phone is of course already set on 4G/3G/2G (auto connect) and by the way, my friend's Note 3 says LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) instead of 4G/3G/2G with the same language set on both phones. Why?? I know its the same thing and I know 4G stands for LTE and 3G for WCDMA but why does it appear differently on these phones?
6 - I already went to Service Mode via *#0011# and manually selected BAND 1 LTE, it says "no service" or "emergency calls only" if I do that so I switched back to "Automatic"
So what the heck is going on? This phone is giving me headaches! I'm close to smashing my phone! After this I sweared to my self this is the last Samsung phone I ever buy. Probably I will be switching to Asus or Lenovo in the future. Or any other phone that does NOT have this CSC BS! This CSC thing is a complete rip-off!
Im thinking that the problem could be my CSC perhaps?? My friend's Note 3 N9005 has a COA CSC (Cosmote Romania) and I have a XEF CSC (Unbranded France). Both phones are factory unlocked and work in all networks. They are not branded by any phone maker! His COA CSC is unbranded. Yes it belongs to a phone retailer but that retailer doesn't brand their phones, no bloatware, no SIM lock. If you buy a phone from Cosmote (with COA CSC) it works in all networks, unlike Vodafone or Orange who lock their phones and brand them.
What should I do? Should I attempt to change my CSC? If so, how? My phone warranty has expired a long time ago, so I shouldn't care that much about triggering Knox though not triggering it would be preferred.
Which path should I pursue? Should I simply use ODIN and flash a STOCK COA CSC (Cosmote Romania) or STOCK ROM CSC (Unbranded Romania) from SamMobile.com with the latest version of Lollipop? Would this trigger Knox? Will it affect my all networks unlocked status? I mean, I won't have to unlock it after that, right???
OR should I ROOT my phone, change CSC, then UNROOT? If so do you know of any method to root Lollipop 5.0 without triggering Knox?
What do you guys think? Whats the problem with my phone? Why doesn't it work on 4G? Because of CSC? Or is it something else?
Thanks!

What do you mean? Can you be more specific? I already told you my model number, its N9005!! Do you want a screenshot?
Dear OP, have you tried the other Samsung secret code? *#2263# then program it to accept LTE only.
That's the only foolproof way to get the Note to connect to LTE. In my country I only get 2-3 of the 5 LTE bars, so the Note wouldn't automatically connect to LTE or immediately stoop down to 3G through the settings. That specific secret code and setting is LITERALLY THE ONLY WAY TO GET MY NOTE 3 TO CONNECT TO LTE IN MY EXPERIENCE.
If that still doesn't get your phone to run LTE, either your carrier is whack or your phone is, and no amount of Cyanogenmod can fix it because your hardware modem inside the phone might be whack and you can't really do anything if that's the case...

I have already explained that there is nothing wrong with my carrier because I switched my SIM card with my friend's phone who has exactly the same N9005 model and it perfectly works on 4G on his phone. The only difference I could find in our phones is the CSC.
As for the other suggestion you sent me, I already said that I've been to SERVICE MODE. The code you've given me does nothing on my phone but as I can see from your screenshots, it gets you to SERVICE MODE. I've already been there through *#0011# switched to LTE/GSM only or LTE/WCMA only and I've explained that it still doesn't do anything.
Can someone please answer me this? Would it help if I change the CSC? Could this be the problem I'm having???

I just tried it on my Note 2 and S4 and it works. Maybe the phone is not running a multi-csc stock ROM?
I don't have a note 3 to try.

Perhaps the code you gave me only works on older version of Android such as KitKat or whatever you have on Note 2... anyway Im using Samsung Phone Info app from Play Store and my CSC is XEF and under Available CSC Codes there is a bunch of CSC codes. Here I've made a sccreenshot:
From as far as I know there are only 2 ways to change the CSC: root or flash a different stock ROM
Yes, the note 2 has kit kat but the s4 is running stock lollipop.

Well unfortunately the code doesn't work on my phone. Anyway if you know for a fact, could you tell me this? Is it safe to reflash another STOCK rom from sammobile? Will it affect my phone in any way?
Thanks
Yes, it is safe to flash stock ROMs from sammobile.com.
I just flashed a local stock ROM and guess what, when I go to Phone Info app it still shows the same CSC! I still have XEF CSC, how can this be? Why hasn't the CSC change?
After flashing the stock rom, did you try the csc code I mentioned? Same thing happens when I flash a Rogers carrier rom over a Telus carrier rom. Once I select telus as the carrier from the csc menu, the Rogers app will disappear and the Telus app appears.
Ok after further researching I found a lot of interesting stuff so I'm gonna write it all down for other people who may need it in the future.
1 - If you have a multi-CSC phone and you flash a different CSC but which is in your "Available CSC" list but which you cannot choose or change without root, your CSC will NOT change. For example: I have flashed ROM CSC (Open Romania) on my XEF CSC (Open France) and guess what after the flash was successful and all, the CSC didn't change! It was still on XEF because ROM was in my "available list".
2 - If you try to flash a different CSC which is NOT in your list, then Odin will FAIL and softly brick your phone. For example: I got my phone bricked, trying to flash 2 CSCs which are not in my "available list": COA (Cosmote Romania) and DBT (Open Germany). In order to fix this issue all you have to do is to reflash YOUR OWN CSC, in my case it was XEF. Or you can even flash one of those CSC which are "available" or compatible so to say, such as "ROM" for example.
This is the firmware I currently have on my phone:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/61565/N9005XXUGBOK6_N9005OXXGBOJ2_XEF/
These are the two firmwares I tried to flash on my phone, hoping to replace XEF with:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/63441/N9005XXUGBOK6_N9005COAGBOK1_COA/
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/61464/N9005XXUGBOK6_N9005DBTGBOI1_DBT/
BOTH FAILED in Odin!
There are ONLY 2 ways to change the CSC on newer Samsung phones. Most guides online are based on KitKat 4.4 or older guides but for 5.0 Lollipop or even NEWER there are ONLY 2 ways to change your CSC:
1 - Root your phone and change the CSC. There are plenty of guides on how to do that online.
2 - You can avoid rooting your phone and use Odin instead, BUT accompanied by your stock firmware, you will also have to find and use a PIT file because Samsung as of 5.0 Lollipop uses different partitions for all the different regions. HOWEVER messing with PIT files is super risky and it can permanently brick your phone so its just better to root your phone instead! Dont waste your time trying to flash different regions/csc which is not in your available csc list, it won't work!
What can I say? Samsung is trying hard to block their users from changing their CSC... Why? They prefer their users buy new phones. Its pure greed yes but its what it is... For me, this was the last Samsung phone I ever buy. Im truly disappointed.

Flashing BTU CSC results in XEU

Hi all,
I have today received my S8 from EE and flashed the latest stock BTU firmware with Odin.
My phone is reporting that I have an XEU CSC. Is there any way without root to get the BTU CSC to register correctly?
Cheers
Edit: It also says that it's manually applying EVR if I boot into recovery. Odd..
XEU and BTU are the same. Also, all unlocked variants of the S8/S8+ in Europe share a common "merged" CSC, OXM, which will activate the proper CSC based on the first SIM card inserted (hence why it's important to insert a SIM before first boot). XEU is the new BTU, so just live with it.
The device also has its stock CSC code burned into it, so even though you can flash another CSC, it will always know what the original CSC was.

Latest BTU SM-G950F firmware from http://fw.updato.com
Updates should be fine and also released a lot sooner as there's no waiting for EE to release them. Wi-Fi calling is fine too.

No. Standard CSC file with a factory reset/cache clear.
I went the other way. Unlocked BTU to EE EVR to get Volte.
Considering going back to get timely updates. EE suck at updating.

They do. I don't make use of Volte personally. I'd sooner have updated software so long as my Wi-Fi calling works

Yeah, there are quite a few places on my daily travels that would not have any signal without Volte unfortunately. I am one of those in the minority that use their phone for calling
If I didn't I would have left it on BTU for sure. Unfortunately, county wide, EE seem to have the best coverage and speed.

Calling? What's calling? Haha.
What a pain that the necessary files aren't included with XEU EE are already an update behind at the moment.
I'm on vod thinking of flashing XEU as I don't like Vodafone adding and tinkering with touch wiz etc does secure folder still work etc.

Yeah secure folder is fine and I believe remains so, so long as you are flashing stock firmware correctly and don't do anything to trip Knox
Ok thankyou also did you have de bugging ticked and oem unlocked ticked in development options

No I flashed everything even before the first boot. I had everything ready before the phone arrived.
Might want to remove your Google and samsung account prior to flashing though.

Thankyou for info.
I decided to flash latest xeu and not sure about you but since i did the flash my touch wiz feels a lot smoother and faster than it did with Vodafone software on there.
Think i made the right choice.

Could well be! I didn't boot up before flashing lol
S8 security was changed so that CSC can only be changed with a supporting SIM card installed if you are not rooted.
