[Q] Install sview-Cover Support as Mod - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
is there any mod for the magnetic sensor in the S4, that i can install in any custom rom? The S4 Google Edition rom is the only one, where its working.
There is an app in the playstor (sview lite) but it only uses the light sensor to determine if the cover is closed.
Greetings
Smuddy

In the actual PAC-Black Edition nightly it works very well (the phone goes off if I close the cover, it shows the content in the view and it turns on if I open it)

Hiho,
thanks fou your answer, but this is not exactly, what I'm looking for. Currently I'm using the Slimcat rom, because its really fast (faster than the S4 Google Edition) and has a nice dark theme.
All I need es the magnetsensor support.
Greetings

Instagram Video Bug

well as a vine nut you can imagine how thrilled i was instagram announced its new update would allow video.
well i have tested 12 roms so far and only found 2 roms that work with the camera. i will list my own findings and hope others will so i can find the best rom for me.
all roms based on 4.1.2 seem fine. all roms based on 4.2.2 seem to have a generic rear video recording problem
1. neatrom - works fine but looks too much like stock rom for my liking
2. resurection remix 3.1.3 official- works fine but crashed on me 3 times in an hour so gave up on it
3. slimbean - works but the screen flickers green so you cant see what your recording but the output is fine
4. avatar rom - works but the screen flickers green so you cant see what your recording but the output is fine
5. thinkbridge - works but the screen flickers green so you cant see what your recording but the output is fine
6. paranoid android official 3.40 - wont record at all
7. paranoid android unnoficial 3.60 - wont record at all
8. wanamlite - wont record at all
9. revolt - rom wouldnt said setup stopped responding. tried twice and wiped dalvik and fixed permissions still same so gave up
10. xenonhd - wont record at all
*edit*
11. P.A.C True All in 1 ROM[14/06][V23] - the usual green screen again
12. Resurrection Remix ROM V4.0.2 NEW SEASON - the usual green screen
13. GT-I9100 Vanilla RootBox [27/06][v4.1] - usual green screen
cant remember other 2 as i got rid of the files. by far my favourite 2 roms where
1. slimbean - loved the dpi - amount of icons per page - halo. everything was great except camera lol
2. thinkbridge - halo - 4.2.2
so if anyone knows of a camera fix or a way to alter the built in camera or a rom based on 4.2.2 with halo that is known to work with instagram video i would be eternaly grateful
lol dear oh dear. i finaly got it sorted with
[APP] [FIXED] S4 Google Edition 4.3 Camera and Gallery (with working photosphere)
this replaced my stock camera and low and behold it worked with instagram. also the photosphere worked good time
UNTIL
i find that there is now a bug in vine that i dont think will be sorted aarrgghhhh!!!!!
Hey guys,
I am the Android engineer responsible for the video playback and recording components on the Vine for Android app. We noticed that there is a bug on a rooted 4.2.2 ROM (mostly S2, prob CM related) that it did not implement one of the camera method (specifically, onPreviewFrame, the data returns null when using image buffering) that we are relying on to work properly. Just want to let you guys know what the problem is.
Best,

i dont think cm team will change itself for the sake of 1 app and i dont think vine will update itself what it considers a small user base. oh well i really am stuck on 4.1.2 lol
oh well happy hunting

its as i feared. its both their faults.
Problem is:
Video recorded on high resolution of 768xsome thing...
but video preview streaming is in 640x480 window! > APP BUG!
so video with higher resolution cant be displayed correctly.
now WHY it's working with JB STOCK kernel???
simple! it's recording on 640x480 as ROM/Kernel not allow higher...
our drivers and ROM code allow, but APP cant show the record streaming.
So when APP Dev will correct the preview streaming window to higher resolution.
problem will be solved!
i cant fix that, sorry.

instagram doesnt support a modified higher resolution and is unlikely to add the resolution as the hacked user base is too small
CM10 could add support by either an option to reduce resolution during install etc but is unlikely to as its a lot of work for a single app
as a workaround [APP] [FIXED] S4 Google Edition 4.3 Camera and Gallery (with working photosphere) works for instagram but vine wont work untill CM10.1 changes. i dont think thats going to happen and most 4.2.2 custom roms use CM10.1 as its core base

exactly like me ... the CM is very beautiful and fast, but these bugs really make me stick to NeatROM Lite. I also have bugs with the Spotify app (online music). And most of all: the stock keyboard from 4.1.2 is muuuuuuuuch better than AOSP.

[Q] Maps: Black text on black background

I'm having some minor problem with google maps. Some of the text it displays is rendered black with a black background (which is unreadable). See the attached screenshot. Does anyone know how to fix this?
This has been happening on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 WiFi (n8013). I've installed Paranoid Androids Full Stock package. I posted a comment to the gapps thread, and they believed it to be a theme problem. But as I understand it, OmniRom is themeless, correct?
Otherwise, I have to say I am extremely happy with the rom. I had stopped using my tablet because it was slow and laggy with Samsung's stock android. Now it is so much better... Thanks to all the developers!

[Q] Open/close of cover on Cyanogen Based roms.

[Q] As above peeps. Im currently running a Samsung based rom and the open close of the cover kills the screen....but not on the AOSP based roms....is there an app for this or is there some functionality in the aosp rom that I can use to switch this on - if I can then id rather go the aosp route.
Cheers to anyone that chips in.
I'm using cm11 snapshot m11, device turn on/off works fine with s-view cover. You can also install hal monitor if you want more features..

CM12 and S-view cover

Hi guys.
Do any of you have an idea how to get the sview cover to work on CM12, or if it's even possible to get it to work?
From what I've googled, people say it requires Samsung framework, but there are (as far as I can see) apps that support CM11 and others.
CM12 runs fantastic on my 9005, but I really miss the sview functionality.

I tried the Lite version of this before and tried it again. Still, nothing. (I assume I would be wasting my money on the PRO version if the lite version doesn't work)..
Did you do anything in particular to make it work? (I mean, other than starting the service in the app)
Thanks. For me, the s-view is an important thing... keeps me on a stock rom.
Problem is that original sview cover uses magnetic sensor and 3rd party are proximity, so the apps on playstore just turns off the screen.

Flash in camera app doesn't work properly

Hi all,
I recently installed the GCam port on my Axon 7 (rooted, running Magisk), works fine, except for one problem. Flash just doesn't work properly.
- The first problem is that it's finicky on when it decides to use the flash, even if I set it to "On" in the on screen menu. I have to be in a dark environment for it to go off.
- Second, the camera won't take a correct picture when flash is active. It will work, but the final image doesn't have any flash on it.
Here is a video showing both problems: https://youtu.be/8isBucEs6WI (Somehow I even had the first problem in a very dark room)
If you guys know anything I can do to fix this, that would be great. Thank you.

Good to know its not just me then... does anyone know where I can find a ZTE Camera apk in the meantime?

Found it, seems to be honestly better quality than any of the Gcam ports I've found... :scratchhead:
