I just got my Kindle Fire HDX 7" and this is what I did to it ... - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" General

I rooted it and converted it into a full android tablet , I followed these steps:
* enable ADB & install apps from unknown locations
* install 1mobile market
http://market.1mobile.com
* install supersu from 1mobile market
* install towelroot
http://www.towelroot.com
* root with towelroot
* run supersu, update binaries
* reboot
* install safestrap
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2556677 => thor/7 safestrap thread, please use the correct version as stated there
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612772 => apollo/8.9 safestrap thread, please use the correct version as stated there
* configure safestrap into system
* reboot into safestrap => be extra-careful here!!!
* backup stock rom
(here you can: create a new rom slot, restore the stock backup, and set it to boot)
* reboot
* copy backup of stock rom to computer
* install xposed
http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer => I used the 2.6.1 stable version, I disabled automatic downloads in xposed
* install hdxsposed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618158
* configure xposed into system
* enable hdxsposed
* reboot
* install google account manager, google services framework, google play services, google play store
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787813 => here are the APKs
* reboot
* run google play store and configure account
* disable ota using the HDX ToolKit
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2665683 => toolkit thread
Some cool apps I found reading these forums:
* GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys (I bought it): it replaces the stock navigation bar (soft keys) with a configurable auto-hiding navigation bar, allowing the use of the whole screen. I set it up with the Android L theme and these buttons: Vol-, Vol+, Back/Previous, Home/Google, Task list/Close all tasks, Menu, Power
* GMD Gesture Controls (I bought it): I used gestures to replace the navigation bar. Now I only use the navigation bar when GMD-GC for some reason is not enabled at boot (see problem below)
* Power Toggles: has a toggle to disable the lock screen
Other good apps I installed:
* Backgrounds HD Wallpapers
* BetterBatteryStats
* BootManager: disable startup apps
* ES File Explorer & Helium Premium: it allowed me to backup apps from my Nexus 5 and send them via wifi to the Kindle
* Greenify
* GravityBox: I enabled "Clear all recent tasks" in "Miscellaneous tweaks"
Some problems I had:
* Kindle stock launcher did not show all apps, the solution was to changelanguage from "Español - Latinoamérica" to "Español - Estados Unidos"
* GMD-GC did not work at first, I had to enable the override multitouch device detection in advanced device setup with : synaptics_dsx_i2c & ICS_DEFAULT, then Restart Service. After some reboots I have to try this several times until it works.
* GMD-AHSK takes away the menu button in some apps. I think this is a bug that the developer is solving. I created a gesture in GMD-GC for the menu button
* Swiftkey keyboard: it was overlaps the stock navigation bar when in landscape, also sometimes in portrait it would not show up complete. Both problems solved since I installed GMD-AHSK
I hope this helps someone. Thanks to all that made this possible.
Regards

Thanks for putting it together for someone new to see... It's always nice to see reiteration when you're modding a device...
Sent from my XT907 using XDA Free mobile app

Cheers for the run down
Ive just bought the 7" for the missus for Christmas, cant decide whether to give it to her standard or do something like this. Still a lot of research to do and things to think about (she is not tech savvy for a start, not even close lol)
Any advice that come to mind would be great.
Your post has given me a great head start and things to look up though, thanks

this is good reading, just doing mine.
* backup stock rom / (here you can: create a new rom slot, restore the stock backup, and set it to boot)
what sizes did you use here?

Replace TNT Lite Settings Display

I really hate the TNT settings display. So I create an update to replace the Settings.apk and SettingsProvider.apk to change them back to stock Android 2.2. This is a post for anybody that wants to do the same.
Edit:
I have added a rollback update.
Instructions:
download to root of sdcard.
Start tablet while holding volume + and power.
"install zip from scard"
"choose zip from sdcard"
select .zip

Will this give us access to more settings than TnT? (I'd really like to be able to set a lock pin/pattern and a few other settings to adjust)
Yes. to all the settings. But lock pin/pattern does not seem to work in TNT. Going to research it some more. Also "Auto Brightness" does not work. But everything else seems to work.

I just want to do this to enable wifi location but I will switch back...I like their settings
Auto brightness is working on TnT settings for me, does this break that?
Read this first, please
I've tried to do this a few times -- but, from my experience, two things break:
- Brightness adjustment. Minor, as you can add an Market app or a widget to get around that. But....
- You can't add new widgets or shortcuts on your home screen. This is the one that kept me from changing the Settings apk in TnT Lite.
Not sure if this is fixed on the zip in this thread, as I haven't tested it.
Btw, you can add alternate keyboards if you use a stock Settings apk (ie. wiimote) -- so that's a plus.

I think it could be infinity useful if i can hook up to wpa then roll back to tnt settings. Don't get me wrong.
Just a warning "this will not allow you to put widgets on your screen" would be nice
Keep at it though, I am truly looking forward to a fully featured normal android settings wonder if the zpad settings apk would work?

Thanks to this, I can now use UltraKeyboard and SwiftKey on the gtablet running with TnT Lite 2.1.1.
Here's what I did:
* Install CWM recovery. Instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844088
* Reboot into CWM recovery
* Wipe everything
* Install TnT Lite 2.0 (the update.zip inside gtab_tnt_lite_v2.00.zip) and the 2.1.1 supplement (update.zip inside gtab_tnt_lite_v2.11_suppl.zip) from zip Instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842004
* Reboot into TnT Lite 2.1.1
* Install Titanium Backup by side loading from the official site (http://matrixrewriter.com/android/)
* Perform the market fix. Instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845175
* Install 3rd party keyboards in Market (I tried UltraKeyboard and SwiftKey)
* Note that you can't enable the 3rd party keyboards in Language & Keyboard
* Reboot into CWM recovery
* Install the stock Settings in the OP from zip (hhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9532446&postcount=1 Replace_TNT_Settings.zip)

* Reboot into CWM recovery
* Rollback back to the TnT settings from zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9532446&postcount=1 Rollback_TNT_Settings.zip)
I can now use the various keyboards (including the Tap 'n Tap Western keyboard) and switch between them by long-clicking in a text field and choosing Input Method.
If only this thing had a wider viewing angle I wouldn't have to return it. Sigh.
Yup going to use it tomorrow to try and set up wpa at work

Hey Roebeet not sure if you meant stock as TnT settings or not.
In case it didn't: Your system setting (from TnT Lite)also allow for wiimote and other alt keyboards. I have it installed both with instruction from here in XDA Gtablet. Just placing them on system/app changing permissions and installing them.

I had read in another forum of phones behaving in similar matter. FCs happening to applications, only by adb pulling and then pushing them back did the FCs go away. It was like a reset in the android OS. Like the settings, these were system apps.
My TNT Settings are still FCing after Removing and Reapplying the TNT. Is this working for anyone else?
The regular Android Settings didn't FC, maybe I'll use that as default and only revert to add widgets.

What's not working
- Nothing that I know of, let me know if you find one
Code:
This Rom has been tested by me several times on
my I9295 individually before release.
However I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.
YOU choose to make these modifications to your phone.
TIPS
The aim of this ROM is to keep it as close to the stock firmware and light as possible. Because this way the ROM is the most stable you can get, and also you don't have any apps that run in the background that can have an influence on the performance and/or battery life of the ROM.
.
See Post #2 for the Aroma Add-on Package, so that you can choose which Samsung Apps / functions you want back.
You can use this Aroma add-on package at any time (multiple times) after flashing this rom (So you can first use the rom bare-bone and look for yourself which app/feature you want to have back). DO NOT install apps that you do not use to save battery and improve performance
.
The 3 Animation settings have been defaulted in the ROM to 0.5 for much faster animations (and experience). In case you would like to change them you can do so as below:
- Enable the Developer Options (Settings -> About Device -> 8x tap the Build number)
- Go to the Developer Options (Settings -> Developer options)
- Scroll down, and change, Window animation scale, Transition animation scale & Animator duration scale to your preference
.
Restrict performance is enabled by default in power saving mode. For a faster experience & allshare to work disable it by
- Go to Settings-->Power Saving-->Power saving mode -->Turn it on
- Tap on Restrict performance-->turn it off
- Go back to power saving mode-->turn it off
.
All apps available on Google Play Store are NOT included in the ROM (or Aroma add-on package), you can download those by yourself in the Play Store.
.
Do not restore apps from older android version through titanium backup, install the apps from Play Store (so the version of apps installed are compatible with the ROM version of android) and only use Titanium backup to restore the app data.
.
I am not much of a fan of the Xposed Framework plugins and prefer to have these directly in the ROM and in case you think of any features you can send your suggestions with complete details so that I can look into it.

Requirements
1. works with 4.4.2 bootloader / firmware or OB4
2. Flash the OB4 modems (You can also flash OC3 / OD3 modems from my drive along with the respective kernel all available on my drive)
3. CWM 6.0.5.1 and above (previous versions are not compatible with android 5.0.1) - I have tested with Philz recovery
Click to expand...

Installation
Check your bootloader and modems, you may have to update to the latest one for your device (below XXXXNE5 - KitKat will have issues)
Backup your device, in case you want to revert back.
Delete all folders starting with a period ('.') along with the android folder on your internal sdcard (This is a must if upgrading from a kitkat or non TW ROM, these are files created by android system that can cause issues)
Factory reset (If using PhilZ recovery do not use 'Clean to Install a New ROM) Absolutely required as this is a S6 port
Flash the ROM
Reboot
If coming from any other ROM, select 'Setup as new device' and also unselect backup/restore app data while setting up the ROM. You can use Super Backup from playstore to backup & restore call log, contacts & SMS. Once the ROM is setup you can enable backup/restore.

Downloaded OK and flashed successfully according to CWM but only getting a blank screen on boot?? Not sure if it's because I was PacRom prior? I'll try reverting to stock TW via Odin and then reflashing to see what happens....

I have flashed this on my device at least a couple of times and have not encountered any issues.
Is you device I9295? as I am not aware of PacRom for S4 active international and have you flashed firmware for 4.4.2 on your phone before.
Edit: Just flashed once again and it booted without any issues. First boot takes about a minute and a half to two minutes
Yes its I9295. I've had various 4.4.4 firmwares running perfectly for a while. I've not flashed 4.4.2 TW Firmware before, because it wasn't available - but just found that a stock one is now available for the UK, so downloading that - I'll try flashing that through Odin first and then try this again.
Cheers

Yes that would be the issue, this is based on Netherlands 4.4.2 firmware that was released in April and it is working fine without any issues around the globe
Wifi problem
I don't have any problem to install this ROM but Wifi don't work. It will not turn on. Is there any fix for that?
Did you flash the ROM? Wifi is working fine here without any issues... look at the screenshots

What firmware are you on..could be an issue with the modem.. can you flash the netherlands firmware (link below) reboot, flash recovery and then try
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByY8uLVuRKD2NDZYYVBaamlrMkk/edit?usp=docslist_api
Edit: Alternatively if you do not want to flash entire firmware you can flash just the UCNE5 modem. You can get the link for the modem at post #693 at the below link and flashing instructions at post # 696

Hello. Installed over stocky rom. Style looks super (colours, etc), wifi also works. Will report later.
Sent from my GT-I9295 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hmm, well I finally have it up and running!
Odd though - I flashed the UK 4.4.2 firmware and then this and got the same issue - black screen on bootup. Tried all sorts of things, but nothing worked. I flashed the downloaded NL firmware and then this and bingo - maybe something to do with the LTE modem or phone that's different between NL and UK?? Do they have the same LTE bands - not had a chance to try the download speeds yet.
WiFi seems to work fine. It was doing weird things for a while when charging - every 10 seconds or so it would react as though the cable was unplugged and then plugged back in - with the pop up about waterproof plug etc. That may be related to the non-OEM battery though so I'll wait and see on that.
I'll try it out properly tomorrow and report back.
Thanks again though! Looks promising....

Very nice rom but I have problems with root access. (I wiped cache and data before installing the rom) SuperSU is installed right but when I install apps which need root access for example titanium backup and try to launch the app the root access pop-up wont come up and the app freezes.. Everything else works fine!

Hmm.. did you do a factory reset? Su binary is installed and does pop up on root access requests. I have installed the ROM several times and did not have this issue. Can you try with factory reset and opening file explorer and selecting root explorer in settings and see if it pops up.
Wonder if anyone else has this issue

I would recommend that you restart the phone once and check with File Explorer as well. In case the problem persists then you can download SuperSu from http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu and flash through CWM.

[TOOL][WINDOWS]Android Control Center 6! Newest ADBGUI for Windows

That's right folks! The newest ADBGUI is now here! Android Control Center 6! the newest version here has a new UI featuring some darker colors and amazing HD quality Interface Objects!
This version includes a new feature that requires an internet connection. This new feature allows you to connect to other users and help each other out via IRC. ACC can also now fully detect SuperUser and BusyBox. For the time being this version removes some advanced features as they were really buggy, but most of which will be added in the near future:
Backup and Restore was removed
App Manager was removed
Of course you can use ADB Shell quickly and easily with this application, which gives you full control over your device. You can easily do a Logcat on any device connected to the PC.
Options that will be added in the next few releases:
App Manager
Backup and Restore
File Manager (Hopefully!)
Music Library Sync
Process Manager
Application Launcher
build.prop Editor(Maybe- might not be added for liability reasons)
Boot Animation Changer
NANDroid (Different from Backup and Restore from google.)
OTA Detector and destroyer (Rooted Only - Might not be able to happen as of yet)
And so much more is planned!
So if you are interested in seeing how to use or maybe you just want to test it out:
DOWNLOAD
Make sure to choose ADB 6 NOT ADB X5.
Of course some Warnings:
This application, if used in the wrong way, can cause damage to your Android device. Please use caution when running commands or selecting options. This applicarion is provided as-is with no warranty whether implied or not. Again, please be careful when using this application.
https://urgero.org/adbgui6

differents between before backup and after restoring - using stock backup app

Honor 7: after a factory reset followed by recovering a backup(that was made by the original backup app), you have something to do to get the device status you have had before.
Attention: during the factory reset you lost all your data on SD0 (internal sd)!!!
what you have to do after recovering your backup :
* if you have installed the "nova launcher", you have to change the standard app for launcher in the setup
* you have to restore your widgets
* you have to set your fingerprints again
* you have to open your safe- file again (setup/security/safe)
* you have to enter and activate your security password again
* you have to delete unused apps and bloodware again
* you have to reselect your preferred design (HG pic & Buttons etc.)
* you have to authorize some app write-permission to SD1
* you have to freeze the apps you want to freeze again
* you have to change the data traffic authorization of every app again
* you have to select your smartkeys again
* If you have installed SuperSU, please check all app authorizations again
* you have to change the resolution of the camera app up to 20MP
* You have to create your Google account again!
what will be recovered with your backup:
* all apps
* autostart list of your installed apps
* energy settings of your apps
* app data
* call list
* all contacts
* all sms
* all pictures from SD0
* all links build by the 'QuickShortCutMaker app'
I have installed TBackup , and use it to recover some of the system settings too.
But this action doesn’t protect me against reinstalling the account!
interesting too:
after a factory reset the local time is set to Peking!:laugh: you will be able to change it with the 'QuickShortCutmaker' app if necessary. See my other tread here:->http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/general/honor-7-functionality-t3203977

[ROM][6.0.1][2.9 GB FREE][GUIDE] Debloat Script for Stock J2 Prime (SM-G532 F/G/M/MT)

Welcome! This guide is to help you debloat your Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime (G532 M/F/G/MT)!
But, before I begin, I should give a few warnings!
Background:
As us owners of the J2 Prime know, development for a custom ROM (either port or AOSP based) is not going anywhere soon. I think most recognized and experienced devs just see this phone, its specs and think "I'm not buying this thrash phone" lol
Not only are its specs thrash, the chipset has been known to be a pain to port ROMs over (Mediatek)
What's the next big thing? DEBLOATED ROMS!
Unfortunately, I don't have access to the software to create a flashable, fully debloated ROM (I do not have administrator rights, it is not my PC :v)
However, what I CAN create is a flashable zip to remove some annoying apps that you will most likely not need!
So, with that being said, let's get to the obligatory warnings
Warnings!:
* There are two flashable zips I am including. One that will factory reset your phone (100% recommended!) and one that will just eliminate your bloatware (not recommended, because some app information will still be stored in the /data partition)
* PLEASE CHECK THE LIST OF APPS REMOVED DOWN BELOW!!!!!
* I am removing apps that I don't need! Key word being "I". For example, I don't use Samsung's Gallery app because I use Google Photos, I have various devices and I need photos to be synced up between them (UPDATE: Since so many people use Samsung's Gallery, I've updated my scripts to keep Samsung Gallery and delete Google Photos. I'll just download it from Playstore). so by flashing this you are accepting my conditions. In other words, I get to choose what apps are being deleted. If you have a request of an app you don't want removed, you can easily search for the apk file on the internet or on Google Playstore. If you have a request of an app you want removed but is not included in my zip, and enough people request it, I can update my file (or you can update it yourself, if you want) to delete extra apps
* Since there are a lot of apps that I am removing, there's a big possibility that I may break something like a feature YOU may be interested in. Be warned that you may experience sudden FC or a feature you want not to work. Please report if anything that YOU use is not working so I can add it to the not working list. So far, of what I've used I have not encountered any FC or any bugs, but there is always a possibility that it can happen
* I can't stress this out enough, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE, YOU ARE FLASHING THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK!
Apps that are being deleted:

IF I ELIMINATE AN APP YOU USE PERSONALLY, I WILL BE ADDING A ZIP FILE IN POST #2 TO FLASH VIA TWRP. IF YOU HAVE AN APP YOU WANT ME TO ADD THAT YOU PERSONALLY USE, PLEASE COMMENT SO I CAN GIVE YOU THE APP TO DOWNLOAD
I WILL NO LONGER ADD ZIP FILES TO ADD APPS BACK DUE TO NONE OF THEM WORKING ON DIFFERENT FIRMWARES (THEY SEEM TO BE FIRMWARE SPECIFIC). IF YOU WANT TO ADD AN APP I DELETED, PLEASE SEARCH ON GOOGLE HOW TO ADD IT BACK
As the developers here would say it:
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/* *
Your warranty is now void. *
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about flashing this zip file
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. HARD!
* */
With that out of the way, let's finally get started!
What you need:
1. A PC
2. The will to use the SEARCH function or search in Google when you run into a problem that may or may not be listed in this guide
3. Debloat_J2_Prime zip file (link below)
4. TWRP (link below)
5. Ashyx's file to remove decryption (highly recommended, link below)
6. The Super SU zip file (link below)(not necessary, you can also root with Magisk)
7. Your stock ROM already downloaded from Updato or Sammobile (not necessary but just in case anything goes wrong)
Downloads:
1. Samsung USB Drivers
2. Download the latest version of Odin
3. The latest firmware of your phone (Use google to search for it, recommended sites are Updato and Sammobile)
4. Debloated ROM (Script that will factory reset)
5. Debloat script ONLY (not recommended, but can still clear up some space!)
6. Download TWRP from the TWRP thread
7. Download ashy's "no-verity-no-encrypt_ashyx" file from TWRP thread
8. Download the SuperSU "SR5-SuperSU-v2.82-SR5-20171001224502.zip" file from this thread
STEP-BY-STEP:
(Make sure you have OEM Unlocked before trying this procedure out. To do this, you need to activate developer options by tapping on "Build number" 7 times located under Settings>About Device>Software Info. Then, go to Settings>Developer Options and make sure OEM Unlock is enabled)
0. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, read the warnings!
1. First you should flash TWRP. It's as simple as flashing via Odin the file containing TWRP. If you need extra steps and explanations of how to install TWRP, follow this thread: TWRP thread
2. Once you have TWRP installed, boot into recovery
3. If you get a prompt upon starting up TWRP to allow modifications, you should swipe to allow modifications. If you don't get any message, ignore this step
4. Flash the "DEBLOAT_J2_Prime_FactoryReset" file
5. Root via the method you want (flash SuperSU zip) or you can use Magisk
6. Flash the no-verity zip
7. You now have a fully debloated J2 Prime!
Let the phone boot, set it up and you should now be done!
You now have a much lighter J2 Prime with aprox. 2.9 GB of free storage! Even after the apps update!
Special thanks to:
@ashyx for porting TWRP to our crappy device xd
@tx_dbs_tx for compiling this great list , which I based my script on
Screenshots
(Attached)
Eliminated apps
Update:
For now, these do not work. Flashing these apps will cause them to FC. These are firmware specific, so they will most likely not work on other firmwares
I am trying my best to find out a way to have them universal, but for now please google search how to install the app you might want returned that I have removed
This debloat script eliminates a few system apps you might personally use and I don't. I will upload requested apk files in this post. If you have a request, to remove or to add to the debloat script, please let me know
Attached apk (flash via TWRP):
Samsung Gallery
SMusic Picker
SoundAlive_41
Reported problems:
Cannot edit/draw on screenshots
Changelog:
24/01/18: Updated tutorial. I now have 2 scripts. One that will completely factory reset your phone and one that will only eliminate bloatware (no factory reset)
22/01/18: Updated tutorial. It is no longer needed to flash stock via Odin

This script works for any Samsung device in theory, but some of the apps listed here may come in different names on other devices and may not eliminate them from other devices. I recommend a device backup before trying it
i stock at step 12

Sure, you don't have to flash SuperSU, you can replace it with Magisk
I am currently working on a flashable debloated stock ROM. Now that you bring up that you personally use Magisk, I will not include SuperSU on the flashable ROM
I don't know when I'll have it ready, I'm still trying to figure out what goes where but right now I have a 60% advance on it

I can't seem to be able to get it running again. I will eliminate Samsung Gallery from the script. You'll have to re-flash stock via Odin to get it back, unfortunately :/
Sorry for that, I will still try my best to get it to work again

Sorry to disappoint but I don't think I will be able to create a debloated zip ROM.
I thought it would be as easy as making a script unpack everything in /system, but it turns out that you need to give permissions to a lot of folders and apps located in /system.
For beginners like me, it's an absolute pain to give permissions to every single file located in /system.
There are programs to make this easier like ASSAYYED's kitchen
But my PC detects it as malware and I can't deactivate this PC's anti-virus because it is not mine
Sorry, all I can do is modify this script I guess, it's my best attempt to debloat our device

Don't worry bro, with your scrip it's already done the job that we all need.
thanks for your hard work and keep this device alive!.
BTW, i mess with the system with (titanium backup) and now i can't activate the "max" option of battery saver in device maintenance. do you have the apk so i can reinstall it?
because in internet it's only avaible for nougat or higher (sammobile or apkmirror).
thanks in advance for your help.

Do you need the device maintenance apk? Would you happen to know what it's called in system/app or system/priv-app?
I can't find it lol
