is there any difference in boost mobile moto g and EU/DE retail?

There is a Stock Firmware Image thread in Development:

I have tried to post in Firmware-Team's forum for this. Unfortunately, I can't even register. Clicking register from any page simply throws up a 403 with a 404 for the error pages. So it's not possible (for new users, anyway) to request firmware on the Firmware-Team forum. Aside from this issue, another user requested 4.4.4 for the Boost XT1031 (though they erroneously labeled the request as Blur version 175.44.1 instead of 210.12.57), but no one has responded. Is there anything anyone else could do at this point to resolve this? I also need the stock 4.4.4 update for Boost Mobile. Unfortunately, the ones that are floating around are not in the same format as the ones on the Firmware-Team site.

A team member has responded. The Firmware Image is not available at this time. There is often a delay of days / weeks between FOTA release and Firmware Image availability.

Hi guys.. I madre this post in order to track the KitKat upgrade.-
Here you can post any news about it.. Just like the XT926 post

THIS IS THE SOAK TEST FIRMWARE, THIS IS NOT THE FINAL RELEASE!

Hi again...
So I edited the updater-script in the OTA file to remove all checks...
There was also a "aboot" and "recovery" flash with an auto reboot in the middle of the script. I removed it.
the "aboot" is still flashed at the end of the file... the "recovery" can be flashed manually with fastboot after...
So here are the steps :
I DON'T TAKE ANY RESPONSABILITY OF ANY PROBLEM THAT COULD OCCUR ON YOUR PHONE, TRY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK !
YOU MUST HAVE AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER
- Flash original RTFR 4.1.2 with RSD Lite (it will wipe everything ! backup all your internal SDcard before doing this)
- Normal boot the phone and finish initial startup configuration
- Reboot in bootloader and flash this recovery : http://d-h.st/p6M ( fastboot flash recovery philz_touch_6.43.8-moto_msm8960.img )
- Reboot in recovery and flash the modified OTA ZIP : https://mega.co.nz/#!I5xxSKCT!D9waHBuunDa8K2sJHUF_wMxZMnOqwheAQ6K62BBWIuQ
- Reboot in bootloader with "Power options" of the recovery
- flash the special 4.4 recovery : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2747535 ( fastboot flash recovery xt926-KK-CWM-6048.img )
- Reboot and VOILA !

Hi,
I removed my link to the OTA modified ZIP...
There is wrong informations published somewere telling my modified OTA is the official OTA release...
I can't leave people think it is...
We know now this leaked OTA release is buggy (SMS) so I don't want users to believe they are flashing the official OTA.

Yes, we're all waiting for that. And indeed, no carrier here in Argentina would work on the update.
I'm not sure if the word has been spread here, but according to dhacker Motorola said they would release the code after all devices get the update, but I don't have a source for that.
But, I saw someone in their sourceforge saying that they will release the source in github "In a week or so", though. This was six days ago.
However, I can't verify if he is a legit motorola employee or not.

Rooting when updated to 5.0.1

Hi all. I am getting my new Moto G today (XT1068) and want to have lolipop but also need root. I was wondering how I would do this? Also if I do manage to get root while on 5.0.1 can I use OTA to 5.0.2 or would I need to un-root first? I am new to rooting so I'd like the easiest way possible, thanks for your time!
Hello,
I'd like to say hello to everyone and BIG thanks for the community as a whole. This place is pure awesomeness.
I've got similiar question to OP. Got the retaildsdsall xt1068, haven't unlocked or rooted before and I'm currently on 5.0.2, 22.21.28.titan_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03 reteu
I've been on retaildsdsall and upgraded using to newly captured OTA zip from SOAK for the xt1068, by copying it to the root of sd and upgrading using normal ota updater.
Everything went fine!
My question is, what is the most reliable way to root my device?
Is there any possibility to root without having to unlock? Will Chainfire's autoroot[dot]chainfire[dot]eu work for me? I read that there is a version which is ok for Lollipop, updated by Chainfire, but I can't seem to find it or confirm that it'll work.
Please shed some light on to that. Any experiences?
Hi @Reizoko & @Silent_Infiltrator
1. You have to unlock Bootloader to Root.
2. Install TWRP Recovery
3. Download and Flash latest BETA of SuperSU v2.44
Thats all
Note: You can't use OTA to update while rooted. You have to do a full unroot.

Right, seems easy enough. I guess I'll wait with stock unrooted until a bug-free version of 5.0 is out, will be good to make sure phone is all right aswell...

Well, the Brazil Soak Test version of Lollipop is really smooth and Bug Free, the Indian version.. Not so much! If you want to try Lollipop, I would recommend the Brazil Soak Test.
Hey
Just wanted to give quick heads-up on to the matter of rooting 5.0.2. Thanks for the tips, I did it as follows:
1. Got my European Moto G xt1068 (dual-sim version) updated to 5.0.2 using captured OTA zip here.
2. Unlocked my bootloader by following official Motorola guide.
3. Downloaded newest TWRP 2.8.4.0 from Original Development.
4. Used Fastboot to only boot TWRP by executing: fastboot boot twrp.img
5. Flashed newest SuperSU 2.44.
6. Enjoying root.
Thanks!

Krishna is not wrong as the XT1068 and 69 are pretty much the same. Only difference is the modems and radios I believe.

link doesn't work - btw, is this an update for someone running 22.21.28 to another build, or is is from another build TO 22.21.28? if so, what build?
Correct link
My guess is the original poster meant to post this link:

Based on the size, it looks to me like the OTA or flash image (from recovery) from 4.4.4 to 5.0.2 official/pure stock.
Link fixed.

Yes, I've gathered that much but what build was the device on that this was pulled from. Was is 21.11.17? that's important to note because the OTA files are specific to that build only. Otherwise if it IS 21.11.17 I have also uploaded the same OTA file - I suspect it is based on file size (412MB).

no worries! you just got me all excited at first - thought it might be the OTA I need to go to 22.21.25 to build 22.21.28 on my Consumer Cellular xt1064 (unlocked and reloaded with stock firmware). As always, thanks for taking the time to pull the file and upload it! I'd rather have it and not need it... and that sort of thing.

definitely going to - I should actually clarify that I am sim-unlocked, not bootloader. I've managed to get up to this point using all signed firmware and the right OTA file, but since I've severly burned my bridges over at moto's forum, there's no hope of me doing MFN.... so I'm going to be unlocking the bootloader shortly - I was kinda hoping an exploit-based root might come about, but no such luck! Definitely going to be checking out the CM12 builds, as well as using this phone as my first foray into tweaking , and eventually building roms. It was a little intimidating at first, but now I'm wondering what the heck I've been afraid of all these years.

Stagefeight Concerns

Hi everyone,
Is there anything we can do against the stagefright exploit on a stock moto G?
Using Google Messenger app for texting/MMS, not rooted, not blunlocked, full 5.1 Stock.
(Any solution OTHER than flashing CM12.1 would be appreciated )
Edit: Has Motorola said anything about it?

Disable auto-retrieve option for mms messages if there is any in your SMS/MMS app, use firefox (latest build 38), don't download any media files like mp4, etc. and wait for a patch/update.

OK say the official Motorola response is:
"All of our newly launched products (Moto X Style, Moto X Play, and Moto G 3rd Gen) will have the patch integrated in the software. We'll include it in the remaining planned Lollipop upgrades as soon as possible. We’re working with our partners to update phones that have already received the Lollipop upgrade.*We are still working through the feasibility to support older devices that are not getting Lollipop"
Am I correct in thinking we are in the 3rd group? The ones that have Lollipop? Therefore a true patch is coming?

I too received this update. A problem that I have with my Moto E is the very limited internal storage - which became even less after migrating to lollipop. With app updates coming frequently, the space gets less after each update. Is there anyway I can increase it? Can't I use a 32GB memory card and make it a part of internal storage or complement it either? What are the steps, if any? I'm a noob as far as rooting and all such stuff are concerned. I'm otherwise happy with the phone, but this low internal storage...
Thanks.
How to update?
Can anyone tell me how can I install the updates manually.

Lollipop is FAR smoother than kitkat, come on, and that is because of ART, the same that makes the apps takes more storage.
