Do Android Wear devices interfere with car BT? - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have seen, in a couple of reviews, that Android Wear devices paired with a phone can prevent bluetooth in a car from working. The result being that the device has to be disconnected before the car BT can connect to the phone
Has anyone else heard of this or is it an urban legend?
Thanks

I have heard this as well, but I should have my Moto 360 on Wednesday and will report back.

HTC One M7, Samsung gear live and VW GTD MK7 - no issues at all

no issues with note 3 lg g watch and visor clip bluetooth (jabra freeway)

Moto 360 connected to galaxy note 3 and GMC intelilink in my truck. No issues at all

hello
hi

Reporting back, moto 360 on Stock Galaxy S4. Alternating between aftermarket Pioneer stereo in the car, and some LG Tones (Bluetooth headphones), no issues at all. Love the watch.

No issues w/ Nexus 4 + Moto 360.

I have suffered this issue with my samsung gear 2 neo, it was so bad I had to keep the watch turned off while driving. as soon as I got into the car, the car would constantly connect and disconnect from the phone, and the watch was insisting it take all incoming calls, which was a complete disaster. I tried everything and eventually gave up
Now I have the moto 360 paired with my HTC one, and the car is a 2013 hyundai genesis coupe . when I first get into the car, I still have to turn off the watch, turn the car on and let the phone connect to the car. Once that is done, I can at least now turn the watch back on, and everything is fine for the duration of the drive.
I just have to remember to turn the watch off getting in the car, and turn it back on after the phone and car are synced..,..
big pain in the ass.

No problems with LG G Watch, Nexus 4 and Skoda Yeti 2011

moto 360 + Honda Civic 2013 + Nexus 5 .. all good here.

Moto 360 + GS5 (MOAR 2.1) + Lexus RX 350, causes buzzing when the watch receives notifications..so I guess some interference?

At first i had no issues with my bluetooth visor clip (jabra freeway) and my note 3 and lg g watch, recently in the past few days i have been having disconnect issues with the watch disconnecting from the phone. restarting the phone fixes it but i do find that very strange that it just randomly started happening like this.

LG G3, G Watch and Citroen C4 factory bluetooth kit here, no issues at all over last 6-7 weeks since new.

my issues have since resolved themselves, after the moto 360 patch for bluetooth it is now working no problems at all

No issues using BT headset with Wear.

I have a VS980 connect to LG G Watch version 5.0.1, and a Lexus RX350, I have to restart my G Watch first( disconnect bluetooth), and connect to my car can success. it is rather frustrating.

[Q] Bluetooth, Car stereo, track names not appearing

Hi,
I have recently switched from an S4 with 4.4.2 installed to the new note 4. When connecting to my car stereo with the S4 via bluetooth the track names of songs playing in the music app and pandora would show up on the deck.
On the Note 4 i have no issues connecting to the deck but now theres no track names.
Is this to do with android 4.4.4?
Any ways to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Seems to be so many variables in getting this to work. Always had problems with my Note 2... Works perfectly with Note 4 and Ford Mytouch Sync.
Try deleting the pairing on both sides and recreate it.
I thought i tried that but ill give it another go.
No one else have this issue or can say it definitely works with pioneer car stereos?

my pioneer head unit was the same, also i couldn't control it with the head unit.
I ended up updating the firmware on the head unit and it solved the problem, check to see if there is a firmware update for your headunit.

The problem is actually with the car stereo. It probably still runs Bluetooth 1.2 or something. I have the same problem in my 2012 Mazda 3. It has a dated Bluetooth. All I see is BT Audio, however it works fine on Ford sync and cars with more recent BT versions.
I have... inconsistent performance with this. If I am using the Play Music radio functionality, everything seems to work well. If I'm playing through an album though, it seems to get "stuck" on the first track played. The track duration updates but the track name does not. Pausing and resuming will get it to update.
With the same car and my Nexus 5 running the same Play Music version I do not run into this issue.
I've got a 2012 Honda Civic EX with the factory iMid (not navigation) system.
Was using an HTC Evo 4g LTE with a custom 4.4.3 ROM and was able to get track names and control music from steering wheel and connected via bluetooth.
Got Note 4 and lost abilty to see track names / artist info. I can still control the phone via steering wheel.
Unfortunately, Honda issues no updates for my factory stereo. If I go 3rd party unit, I loose steering wheel and bluetooth integration with the onboard mic, etc.
I am hoping that Lollipop will correct some of these things or that Samsung will issue a fix. I've seen a lot of posts around the web where people are having the same issue: prior phone worked fine. New note 4 phone lost track names. This was affecting lots of car manufacturers, factory stereos, 3rd party stereos, etc. Hard to narrow it down to one issue, other than all new notes having a new BT stack.
Just throwing my experience in the mix.
Dannon
dlitwin,
Take your car to Honda, some Civics/Accords/CR-V, etc have an update for the Handsfreelink module.

Well, a quick update here. My T-Mobile Note 4 received a system update yesterday, and after that the Bluetooth works as expected with my car.

Not really a stereo problem if the thing that changed was the phone. It should be backwards compatible.
Hopefully theres an update in the works to make it come back. Its illegal here to touch your phone while driving and showing the track names on the deck helps with not having to touch it.
Might have to look at using NFC on my cradle to make the screen stay on, turn on bluetooth and connect the music app.

Awesome! In australia we get updates late usually so maybe by the time you have lollipop ill get that update
Still nothing. I got an update but it didnt work. pandora has updated and no good.
Anyone found a fix?
First off I apologize for bringing up an old thread. I recently purchased the Pioneer DEH-4800BT head unit so that I could leverage the Bluetooth capabilities. Everything works great, with the exception of the unit reading my music library via Bluetooth. If I restart my Note 4 and then connect it via Bluetooth to the Pioneer head unit, it reads the library and allows me to browse my music as it should. However, if I turn off my vehicle thus disconnecting the Bluetooth connection, the unit will not read my library without me having to restart my Note 4. Has anyone ever encountered this? I have a feeling there is something on my Note 4 preventing the unit from reading the library a second time without restarting. Unfortunately hours of Google searches on this subject have left me with no solutions. What can I do to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Bluetooth changes from B20 to B27? Bluetooth remote stopped working

http://m.banggood.com/BT-005-12M-Bluetooth-Media-Button-Support-IOS-Bluetooth-3_0-Android-OS-4_0-p-1017379.html
I have a cheap Bluetooth remote called the BT-005. Mounted to my steering wheel it allows me to change music tracks while following local driving laws (can't touch a phone while driving). It worked perfectly when my Axon 7 was stock: A2017U with B20. I could turn on Bluetooth on the Axon, press one front button on the remote to turn on, and then it would work.
Recently I updated from B20 to B27. Now the remote functions differently: I have to press the tiny pairing button on the back of the remote to connect. This is after already successfully pairing the remote and phone. Each time I come back to my car I have to again press this tiny button, which requires dismounting of the remote from the steering wheel and a tiny tool to press the button. I'm not re-pairing the devices (pressing the remote pairing button for 5 seconds), just reconnecting them when returning to my car.
Anyone know if there were changes in the Bluetooth protocol/software from B20 to B27? Know of a fix for this issue?
(Remote still functions fine with my old Nexus 5)
Thanks
dont know but my bluetooth in car doesnt display tracks anymore after update
Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk
I have the latest update 029 on my new Axon 7 Limited Edition and I'm not getting any metadata displayed on the head unit any more. It works fine with my old Samsung Galaxy Note 2 from 2012. ZTE has Bluetooth issues and if the upcoming Jan Nougat update doesn't fix them, I'm getting rid of this phone. I "upgraded" to get a better Android Phone experience, not a worse one!
When streaming bluetooth audio in my Nissan Qashqai 2016 on the factory head unit, there is a delayed response when skipping track forward and back. The problems is intermittent with delays sometimes being a few seconds after pressing track forward, to minutes to several songs later.
Most recent firmware update to XTE AX7 2/may/2017 did nothing to fix the issue.

I experience similar issues with the song info...on multiple devices, ranging from each major Android version since KitKat (I use my Evo 4G LTE from time to time). That's more of a Honda issue, honestly.

GS7 Edge was working fine though. Both on marshmallow and 7.0. Either there's something up with this phone or it's 7.1.1. My dad's iPhone 3gs works in my car fine as well.
Call choppiness on Nissan Maxima 2014.
No sound quality issues so far. Connecting to a previously paired device did not work a couple times but that has always been an issue for me on Android versions. Once I unpair and reconnect, it works.
In my car, I am connecting to an Mpow Bluetooth dongle plugged into my AUX jack and the sounds seems much better separated than my Nexus 6p when it is on Bluetooth. U11 is also clearer.
Kia Sorento SX 2013, streaming BT audio and GPS navigation flawlessly without problem.
On my Honda Prelude 2000 SE with custom Kenwood deck, HTC U11 also streams BT audio beautifully.
i have no problem what so ever, music, phone, massages, song info,email,etc... ,everything is fine

Hello
I have also these connecting problems with my Mercedes GLA and HTU 11, It will never reconnect when I start my car. I have to search always on my phone for Bluetooth devices and then connect manually. Before I had with the same car with Galaxy S8, LG G6, OnePlus 3, LG G5, Huawei P9 and all of them were working fine.
I think it's the well known Android 7.1.1 issue and hope an update will coming soon...

Seat Ateca infotainment doesn't import contacts from HTC U11 via Bluetooth
I have Seat Ateca 2017 (May) and when I first connecting (paired) my old HTC One M9 (Android 7.0) with car infotainment (IT) everything (Phone) works fine, contacts were imported, details of contacts were imported too (names& fotos of contacts) etc etc.
Now I have new HTC U11 with Android 7.1.1 (Android security patch level August 1, 2017 - software number 1.27.401.5) and car infotainment can not import contacts when it is connected with HTC U11 via Bluetooth. I can use car IT for talking, dial number but can't see name of contact and messages.
Anything similar?
I have trouble getting my U11 on 7.1.1 to connect to my bluetooth work headset. Never had an issue on my HTC 10. Sometimes even turning BT off and on again won't fix it and it will be stuck forever attempting to pair with the headset. Restarting fixes it.
Seems to be working fine for me. I connect it to my Pioneer 8890BT head unit.

I found the same the u11 just works perfectly whereas the 10 had weird micro skipping/cut issues, even started using my old Nexus 7 (2013) in the car to stop it from bugging me. So happy I upgraded to the u11 even though i still have to pay for the 10 till May lol.
I have a Motorola Bluetooth adapter because my older car has no Bluetooth and I can have the phone, and only this phone within inches of each other and get the Bluetooth stutter and cut outs. No connection troubles tho.

I have an aftermarket Sony car stereo and works great with Smart connect and the Sony app. Absolutely no issues with bluetooth for me. Works great on my PC and my JBL Charge 3. I don't think it is the phone or the Android version. Unless it is Androids job to make it work perfectly with your device that you are having trouble with? I don't know, just glad I am having such a great experience. Bluetooth works much better on my U11 than it did on my HTC 10.

Sony XAV-AX100 Bluetooth Issues

Just doesn't pair. Finds the device, I try pairing on my phone and it does it forever til it times out. On the other hand my friends phone connects instantly with no wait! Anyone else had issues with connecting to a headunit? Before that I had a Pioneer one with no issues but when I upgraded to a Sony one Bluetooth will not pair on the OnePlus 5.
Think I'm gunna get rid of this head unit and pay £60 more for a Kenwood one.

I just went halfords and swapped it for a kenwood one. Had to pay £50 more. I haven't got around to setting it up yet so will test later to see if bluetooth works.
I've noticed Bluetooth issues with my car's head unit. It is a stock unit from Subaru. It paired just fine but I have to manually connect every time... And sometimes I have to click connect multiple times before it actually connects.
No problems with other phones on that head unit, and also no issues with other BT devices.

My previous head unit by pioneer worked okay, paired instantly and automatically connected as soon as I turned the car on. Let's hope I got more luck with the Kenwood. Finish work in 40 mins so will test then.
Well the Kenwood works great and as it should. I didn't even have to setup Bluetooth android auto did all of that for me looks. Like it's Sony's fault rather than OP

I also can't connect to my car stereo. But my OP5 (OOS 4.5.6, rooted SuperSU) just won't see my MEX-XB100BT. My OP2 (CM14) had no issues seeing and connecting to it.
UPDATE: I managed to pair the phone via NFC. Worked like a charm from the first try.

For what it's worth, I ALWAYS had issues connecting Android devices to the OEM stereos in my 2011 STI and 2015 WRX. I've since switched to an Audi and those connectivity issues are gone (with both Google Pixel and Galaxy S8). The Subaru OEM stereo is known to be garbage. I highly recommend doing yourself a favor and upgrading it. It will improve the sound quality of your OEM speakers while also improving bluetooth connectivity. It's something I never did but in retrospect, I should have.

I've been considering upgrading since day one, but as long as my phone connected fine it didn't bother me too much. This might be a good enough excuse...
I got my 6t to pair with the radio by connecting the phone to the radio with the usb for Android Auto. Before connecting using USB I could not find the radio under available devices to pair with. After connecting to the radio the with the USB I was able to see the radio and my phone was trying to connect, kept giving an error 'wrong pin' at this point I just unplugged the USB and the the radio ask for permission to use the contacts in my phone which I granted. Radio is now paired and auto connects.

LG G6 and Android Auto

I wonder if someone can help. I got Android auto working on my car bit just for a while. On a second journey car radio started intermittently disconnecting the phone. I cannot get it working since the Skoda Octavia radio head unit shows up now that mobile is not compatible. Car is 2016 and I have latest AA installed on G6.
I tried resetting the mobile to factory settings and managed to get it working again, but after a while phone got disconnected again and there is no way to reconnecting. Resetting the MIB2 Bolero on. Skoda doesnt doesn't help either. Anyone with similar experience or possible fix?

What is are you on? And what phone model is it?
Do you mean OS? Latest, stock. It's International LG G6 H780.
Hi sebek_d,
I was in the same situation as you with my LG G6 and AA would disconnect or freeze and a red error message would appear on my phone.
I'm happy to say that i have fixed my issue, after buy multiple USB cables i was sceptic that it was the reason it was not working, i have since purchased the Duracell Sync & Charge USB 3.0 Type C cable and the problem is now fixed, Part number is USB5031A. I purchased my cable from Duracelldirect Australia. Hope this helps rectify your issue like it did mine.
Brand new Opel (Vauxhall) Astra with intellilink 4.0 and a brand new LG G6... AA works rarely and for unpredictable time. Usually I have to "Forget all the cars" in AA to make it work, but even that is 50-50% chance
Nexus 6p didn't have any issues with Astra before. Also I've tried Samsung J5 and it works flawlessly - with the SAME original LG USB-C cable! This is really frustrating and I hope someone has a solution...
Did anybody else manage to find some solution (Duracell is not available in my country... maybe some other cable?)
Cheers!
