[Q] Note 3 North Am, version - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm actually in Tenerife Island, Canaria. This is a '' duty free'' area. A store ask 200 Euros for the Note 3 'North American version', new (8 gigs). It is 260$ US or 280 $ Ca.
I plan purchase one used when I'll return to Canada, middle October, but the best cost at home is 350 $ Ca, used .
The offer is tempting but how to be sure the phone is not a fake and if it really works in Canada ?
I plan go to the store, ask the seller to check myself in 'properties' and verify the processor (2.30GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800) but what are the other ways to check it rapidly?
Probably he don't want I check with Antutu benchmark because the phone is 'new in the box' ...
4 month ago,I buyed a Zopo 998 from China . Great phone (except for the GPS) but I can use it in Canada (IMEI incompatibility), I want be sure the new one will work and with the true Samsung.
Thank's

As far as I know there is no Note 3 8GB for North America, all NA versions are 32GB and the only smaller version that I know of is the 16GB HK version.

- If you can't install any app, you can refer to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2574886
- If you can install app, it's so easy. Install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, open the Menu --> 'Refurbishment Check'.
It will tell you if your phone is original or not.

Hi guys
Thank's a lot xclub_101 and vndnguyen .
Just coming back little but hot treck in the mountains (+29-30 C) , I read your answer on the computer...
I go out Canary island early Tuesday (07:00 am) but I'll try to return to the store and check it.
@T Xclub_101, I wrote 8 gb for the Note, because we where looking at a Samsung Note 3 in the store and most of the tourist are from Germany England or France. I speak a bad english but he clerk presume I was North American...
Anyway,if I don't purchase one Note 3 here, I'll buy one used when I return home in Quebec province, middle of October and the tricks you give here will be very precious to me...
:good:
Thank's

+1 note 3 doesn't have an 8 gig variant. Unless he lets you open it and check it I would run away like my hair is on fire. With the price difference your probably looking at a knock off

Cheap price in Vietnam

Hello, I'm about to do a trip in Vietnam in december, and I just found this website :
http://www.vatgia.com/home/quicksearch.php?keyword=galaxy+tab+10.1
The wifi only version is sold around 9,500,000.00 VND (450$) wich is really cheap for where I live (France).
I wonder if the unit sold in asia can be set in french or english language, and also if there is any internationnal warranty ??? ...
Thx !

They're pretty cheap in the US too. I actually got a deal on mine when it launches (yeah, go figure...). Paid $429 for a brand new 16GB.
To be honest I would not by it personally.
If your tab will get a fault (touch the wood), sending to Vietnam might be quite a problem...

in canada i bought mine with a sim card with a 3 yrs data plan.
the result : Tab 10.1 4G+wifi 16GB 349$ woot!!
In fact I was looking for a replacement of my galaxy tab 7.0 and I thought the new Samsung would be the best choice. I hadn't taken a look at the tablet market from the day I bought my old galaxy tab. It looks that there are plenty of choices with other brands for less cheaper ! The acer iconia 500 and the asus transformer are in my range of prices, so I'm currently deciding for one of them ...
I'd sooner buy local, theres been time I needed to take faulty items back.

Gtab 7.7 street price in Hong Kong

I have a friend coming over from HK next month & was thinking of asking him to get the wifi version Gtab 7.7 for me. He told me that Broadway sells it for HK$4088. Anyone here from HK know of somewhere to get it cheaper?
Thanks
Yrah, im interested in that too, just i need gsm version

The retail price for 3G version and wifi (16GB) should be $5,088 and $ 4,088 HKD.
3G version included a 16 GB micro sd card~~
A colleague came back from HK sporting one she picked up at the Airport Duty Free, apparently for a very good price (don't have details now). Might want to consider that. Said that it was the best impulse buy she'd made for a long time.

This is correct. I bought mine in HK 2 weeks ago and all major stores use the same price; I got mine at Fortress.
My cousin doesn't suggest buying from the grey market, and I echo that excellent advice.
I bought mine in NYC about a week after it was released and paid $750 or something.
I have just brought at new one, the price is
Tab 7.7 (3G) : HK$4680 with 16g SD card
Tab 7.7 (Wifi only) : 3680
Mine was 4200 RMB in Shanghai, 16 gig 3G
Check http://www.price.com.hk/product.php?p=134460&hw=h&ps=star . Address of the shops is usually at the bottom of each listing. You can just search on google maps using them. So the price is in general around 470 USD (including 1 year warranty).
you can buy a wifi version 7.7 @ HK$3500 @ a shop called
A Grade
Lower Ground, (near escalator)
Golden shopping center
Sham Shui Po , Kowloon , HK

In HK there as 2 ways of buying electronic goods. From authorised retailers where you generally pay rrp but get the benefit of full manufacturer warranty & the security of knowing the item is legitimate.
The 2nd way is from unauthorised resellers (the grey market) where the same item generally costs considerably less than rrp. The main negatives of this are no warranty except for the token one the reseller gives you, depending where the item was sourced it may not have menus in the language you require & most importantly legitimacy of the goods in that they may be factory seconds, stolen (rare), certain included accessories may have been taken out prior to sale, etc.
When I lived in HK a few years I bought 90% of technology items from grey market & only ever had one serious problem.
As you are not resident in HK I would go grey market you'll save a lot of $$$s and any warranty would only apply to HK only, but make sure you inspect THE actual tab you are getting making sure that everything supposed to be in the box is in there, turn on the tab making sure it works & inspecting it for any damage.
Best place to go for these sort of items in Kowloon side is Mongkok -Sin Dat Centre or Sham Shiu Po - Golden Centre. If you are nearer Hong Kong Island side then Wan Chai Computer Centre. I used spend hours in those places.

Thx again for your well explanation.
I found the places you mentioned above on Google Map but not Sin Dat Centre. I found Sin Tat Plaza. Is that it? I will be on Kowloon side on Canton street so I should be able to take a quick MTR to Mongkok. I love trying to find my ways around in Hong Kong.
Thx in advance
Canton Road is the main tourist area of HK. Lots of electronics shops around there that have the signs that say tax free but don't be tempted to buy there, big rip off, HK doesn't have sales tax.
One more thing before you seal the deal don't be shy to ask for freebies such as case & screen protector. If you do get a screen protector ask them to put it on for you. Don't know how they do it but it will be much better than you doing yourself. But if they don't do it in your presence make sure you make a note of the serial # before they take it away.

You guys are great here with all these awesome tips. So forget about Nathan street nearby right?
Thx in advance
Nathan Road is long...from where you will be nearer the the waterfront its the tourist part so no go. The further you walk up you get to the more local areas from Jordan - Yau Ma Tai - Mongkok - Prince Edward.
By the way the main authorised dealers would be Broadway, Fortress & Chuen Yuen. I think you'll find the rrp from these dealers is HK$4088 for the wifi version. Mine was bought from Fortress with free screen protector & a neoprene pouch. I have friends & relatives that come & go over regularly so if I ever need to use the warranty they can do it for me.
The cheapest my friend found for wifi version was HK$3680 but I heard they are as low as HK$3500.
When I was in Hong Kong in January I was told that there are 3 models:
1. International Wi-Fi
2. International Wi-Fi/3G/GSM phone
3. Hong Kong Wi-Fi/3G (Chinese language only)
Is this correct? For me English International Wi-Fi of course.
Thx in advance

[Q] Nexus 7 Indian users ,N7 highly overpriced ? Now what ?

Hey mates,
You all knows there are countries like India where nexus 7 has been overpriced like doubled than US price of N7 ,
So my question to you, what you decided to do now ? As i was wating for this tab from some months but now due to such overpricei am unable to understand what should i do .
I know i can ask anyone to ship from other country but I have no any relatives from other countries to ship from US or any other countries,
& If i ask to any international shipper then also it goes high price with customs duty & taxes.
My last dcsn will be to buy samsung tab 2 as i cant wait more time,
So tell me guys whats your plans to buy Nexus 7 32 GB + 3G model !!!!
It was completely expected wasn't it ? Anyhow my last hope is ebay !

It was always Expected that Nexus 7 would launch in that Range..Those who though otherwise probably dont know that the price in Other parts of the world doesn't matter...it will always be Expensive In India...and Tab2 doesn't even come close to the Nexus...That is what i would call a waste of money.
Is there any chances to get from other country like US ? Any way ? & is there any better option than N7?

Even with Express Shipping, Insurance, and Customs Duty you can pick up a 32 GB N 7 at less price than the MRP (before taxes) here. Bought a 32G N7 for a total cost of Rs 18669.25

Sign up with Borderlinx.com
Buy from either adorma.com or http://www.jr.com/
and have it shipped to your Borderlinx address. Have them forward it to you. The whole thing takes a week. You should have your N7 in 10 days.

I ordered from this Guy:-
http://www.ebay.in/itm/Asus-Google-...s_Tablets&hash=item2a25ca27ac#ht_46.99wt_1139
He shipped and delivered quite fast
Buddy i know galaxy tab 2 lacks quad core processor and i know that it will not get nexus like firmware update .but believe me its a great device.i own it.and it play hd games great.
And it is getting jelly bean soon.
So if you want to buy it go for it you will not regret.
Also your choice may depends on your needs.
Like if you want multimedia device get tab 2,want os updates as soon as released and extreme gaming choose nexus(tab 2 performs good in gaming but obviously nexus dominates due to quad core).

Yes Bro i even strongly agree for what you saying but some people saying there hardware is crappy it will be tough for HD stuff,I am just confuse whether it will get any newer future updates or not I heard its normally gets very late & this device going old day by day but seriosly awesome piece by samsung , I am getting Tab 2 with 18K new but just waiting for Nexus 3G model ,What i planned like buy 3g or wifi model of Nexus 7 ,if no voice calls then buy wifi model & use OGT cable for HDMI ,Dongle for internet & for storage capacity which same samsung tab 2 can do..your more experiance will be welcome, might be i am wrong in some aspect.

[Q] Where can I get ASAP I9505 LTE model+dutyfree

I need a I9505 Euro open S4 LTE model.
I frequently bought from UK phone store (Clove or handtec)
But, that sim-free provider all delayed until May 03 in UK. (thaty said that samsung UK make a delay)
I can't wait until may 03.
Could you let me know where is In stock of I9505 LTE device?
Seller must support intenational shipping and want to dutyfree or price not over $900 (inc, shipping cost)
Hi. As I know there is nowhere to be found the S4 I9505 until May 3. Also, without talking with a particular guy or something, will be impossible to get the duty declaration as "gift". I have looked every single website. Btw, why you want the I9505 when you guys have the Octa with even higher cpu frequency ? We are crying for Octa and you guys want Snapdragon LMAO

This link is why i hate korean galaxy variants model. even though that have exynos octa chipset.
All galaxy korean version has following problems.
1. All operator too many customizing ==> it will cause unstable, because all known that they request too many modify frameworks also.
2. Too many have bloat apps.(operator apps, avg 10 + apps exist, some apps are not support uninstall, yeah rooting will delete that apps, but it make an another error)
3. UMTS band are only 1900/2100 (official), previous galaxy have only UMTS 2100 (SKT/KT model only, LGU+ model using CDMA 1800(that frequncy only exist in korea over the world)
4. LTE band are only 850/1800. (SKT 850/1800 , KT 1800 / LG U+ 850)
5. Maybe Firmare not compatible with Global version (I930X / N710X )
6. you may not use USSD code (korean all operator doesn't support USSD code, so korean localizing version remove USSD function)
I lived in korea, but i don't use our korean galaxy models. This time I also ordered galaxy s4 on UK. Because UK model is always Europe open model and it has nearly Samsung reference model. (Doesn't have or 1~2 bloat app exist)
i'm very hate too many localizing. it will always phone make unstable.

I'm still between the i9500 and i9505. People having i9505 reports high temperature, probably because of the clock. Not sure what to choose.
I knew that Korean version have many limits, but I didn't know that was so horrible.
In your case, you will need to find somebody to buy and send the phone as gift in Korea, but the package can still be stopped in airport or border and if it's opened, they can still ask you for taxes (even if the chances are minimal). You may find somebody and talk to him to do it on a website like eBay, so you will pay him the money with PayPal, they will buy the phone and send to you. This way you have warranty that he will not steal your money and he will have the money to buy and ship it to you. Once I did something like this with a friend. Ebay have taxes, but depends on category and at least you have your money safe

Is better to buy in Europe, Korea or China?

Hi all
I would buy this phone and my friend is now in China and then will go to Korea.
Where better to buy? N9005 Snapdragon, Exynos or N900S N900? Chinese.
I hope that some of you advise me.
thanks
Do you know by any chance the price in different countries?

If you have LTE in your area I would recommend getting the N9005 in Korea. China doesn't offer either the N9005 or N900, they have their own variants which all lack google apps
in the shop
There's a good chance of network frequency incompatibilities if you're going to use an Asian model anywhere else in the world. Not to mention the Region lock, but both can in theory be solved by flashing and rooting.
As for EU prices:
Netherlands €672
Germany €649
Belgium €649
Switzerland 749CHF/€606
(no, I have no idea why the price in the Netherlands is so ridiculously high.
Actually yes I do: It's good old-fashioned Dutch Greed.)

Where better to buy? N9005 Snapdragon, Exynos or N900S N900? Chinese.
I hope that some of you advise me.
thanks
Do you know by any chance the price in different countries?

best thing to do always, buy the set where you live, mainly for warrantr purposes, I have taken to dealer 3 different sets in 6 years, If you get yours from china whom are you going to claim warranty if needed? think carefully, luck

Actually yes I do: It's good old-fashioned Dutch Greed.)

buy in HK or TW, there are both N9005 or N900 internatinoal version available, I paid for my N900 32gb black 468 € and I care less about warranty because the first thing when I went home is CF auto... and now very happy about the exynos version does not have region lock or knox trigger - best Galaxy till now

Ok, that's worse.
Good thing there's no import restrictions or costs in the EU, then. Even with shipping it's cheaper to order in another country.....
For you Americans complaining about having to pay $300, that's $1133.

Do NOT buy in China, as this will be the locked Chinese version with no play store, etc... Having said that, any phone market in China will also have the HK or international version as well (9005)... so if you're friend is smart enough to be able to identify the international version and make sure he/she doesn't buy the China version, this would be a good move. Prices for import phones in China are often quite keen, but then again this comes down to your friend's negotiating power...
I've always found Samsung stuff in Korea to be more expensive than elsewhere, and a Korean colleague of mine specifically bought his S4 in HK instead of in Korea due to this...
HK probably the best bet though. Note, reason is simply that HK has no sales tax, so is always going to be cheaper than somewhere that does... HOWEVER, some countries allow you to get tax back at the airport. For example, if you buy the phone in Germany, but you don't reside there, just show the tax receipt and the phone to the tax office at the airport and you'll get something around 15% of the price back. Note not all countries do this. China doesn't. Singapore does. HK doesn't need to. I think all of the EU does (as long as you're not an EU resident).
I personally bought my N3 in Australia a couple of weeks ago for AUD 880. I then got around 80 AUD back at the airport (have forgotten exact amount but around 80 AUD) so my actual price was 800 AUD which is 565 EUR / 773 USD. Seoul airport wanted over 1,000 USD for it. HK airport wanted around 900 USD, but note these are airport prices and this was days after launch.
never buy an android device in china, you will find that the google framework/service are all missing, btw i got my n900 in hk.
