here is the link of all the features of xperia z3
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/09/12/new-software-features-from-the-xperia-z3-series-detailed/
If its possible then its a request from all developers please port Video Pause and resume ability from Z3 to Z2 also
this feature is in Xperia Z3 Camera, when we recording videos from its camera app its can pause and resume them.
@lagalaga. @Riyal. @olokos. @xperiaz2. @Rizal Lovins

This is probably the one thing I want from the Z3. I've wanted video pause-ability since forever.

yes i am asking for this feature also from Sony from almost one year.

I dont see why features such as this and low light ISO 12800 recording cannot be added to the Z2 line. Reverse engineered apk? if it were only that easy..

The worst thing? We had pause back on Sony Ericsson's like the w810i, at least I think that's what it was it was a long time ago haha

Pausing
that would be useful video pausing. I want that for my Z2

I come from a note 3 to the z2, very disapointing the lack of some features like this, in the note y can do that why the z2 can't

I came from the Note 2 to the Z2, and I can't say the same. I hardly miss the SPen. But Sony's UI is more polished and way less cartoony. It feels and looks premium. The UI is also way more fluid than my Note 2, but I'll have to wait and see future updates to be able to same about the Z2. But my Note 2 was unusable after the latest update. Very VERY laggy. So, I decided to jump to another device and I can't say I miss anything from the Note 2 but maybe MAYBE the extra screen real estate.

wtf? Z2 doesn't has pause?!
i'm new to sony (planning to buy one)
eww i'm surprised..

And Qualcom announced S808 and 810 CPU based on 64 bit architecture.
Z1 is great, Z2 is awesome...
We could only imagine what will Sony present with Z3 or Z4 (or whatever they named them).
Sony will rule in Android world.
If they add navigation bar control through settings UI - I could leave without root on something like Z3/Z4.

Don't know why you quoted me.
What I said was referring only to Xperia.
Z1, Z2 then next, device that will come this or next year.
I'm saying Z1 has best camera...
And last part... See .that... Sony will rule - so, really don't know where did you found that.

If you read their assessment the tests are done to compare overall camera performance and not just image quality of the photos, they also include video performance as well. The Z2 and the pureview have the same score in image quality but the Z2 trumps the pureview in aspects such as exposure and autofocus, which are all accounted for in the final score. I'm no camera expert but DxOMark are supposedly one of the best in camera reviews, the Z2 is looking even more promising then ever
Highly impressive that it best the pureview. Does waterproofing a camera effect it's performance? If so, then it's even more impressive.
I tend to agree that camera performance should include some measure of accessibility. If a camera can only take great shots in manual mode after fiddling with 17 settings in perfect light on days you got lucky with the old lady and a promotion at work it isn't as useful day to day as one where you can just press the button and get a lesser but decent shot to me.

4k Recording Sound

I absolutely love this phone but tonight I recorded my wife's Band with 4k video and the sound is awful, I did loads of videos on my Xperia S and the sound was great. Feeling gutted about this hope it's just a software problem.

the z2 has a lousy mic, as simple as that lol...it's as bad as my galaxy s1 4 years ago.
It's awful, I think Sony know this hence the smt10 they have brought out, I hope that makes a difference.

it's also the wrong way to do things...the mic should be there to enhance the sound quality, not to make up for subpar standards. so they come up with something ****ty and earn more from it at the same time? i mean..the rest of the phone is great, no doubt about that. but this is really not right =(
Exactly, coming from the xperia s I expected this to be even better feel really deflated. Other than the sound issues the phone is awesome. Hopefully a software update can enhance the mic.

It most likely won't happen. System apps by oems usually rely on the framework which makes it really hard to port. Is there something u liked on the Xperia z2 camera?

I hope the xperia in porting the app, but I'd settle for an app very similar

Hmm how come lenovo camera and lg camera are possible?
timeshift function... could someone explain why is it that important to use? I highly doubt that anyone would be constantly using it after couple of times of shooting vids with it.
First of all is a new feature in smartphones that allows you to make beautiful and funny videos.
Second, it's good that it is a vital function, but if there why not use it?
And third, if the hardware is pretty much the same because they can not have a similar software?
I personally used it several times, although I'm not very happy with the effect it has in low light circumstances and the quality is too low in my opinion.
After searching and searching por an application to, for example do the thing I like in timeshift ( Slow down only part of a video) I found, Android Studio. Of course is not the same but I least I can do that. It will be great to have Timeshift directly, but in the meantime I'm using that. I hope you guys can check it out

1st impressions of this fantastic phone

Hello all just thought that I'd share my opinion of this model and beg Sony/Google to do something about root.
I've had this for 24hrs now and coming from the Xperia Z I'm very happy.
The fingerprint works flawlessly every time and is in a very convenient position.
I feel that the volume button should have been above the power button.
The size compared to the Xperia Z is very similar. Everything is smooth and feels very nice in the hand.
Some ui changes to other Xperia lollipop versions.
The side bar in app drawer is gone. The notification bar is also auto hidden in the app drawer. Oh and where is the rotation option in the home settings.. Very annoying!
Root is very much needed as I feel Android is getting more like iOS everyday.
Battery life is impressive not had chance to test to its full potential just yet though.
I hope they continue in the mobile market as I don't think I'd want anything else.
I have the z4 tablet also and the ui changes I've mentioned here are present in the tablet ? I've loved the Xperia home in the past and also look for ports for other devices my family has. These changes however are making me think about moving to another launcher.
Anyway thanks for reading ?

How is the audio quality through headphones? I had the Z3 and the quality/clarity was good but the volume was not loud enough.
Impressive quality on you tube link posted from jimi83 imo, seriously thinking to sell my LG G3 and buy Z5
So Z5 non compact is out?

Really? I had a few niggles with my Z3 I used to own and checked them at a Sony training event earlier this week and they are still present.
Namely,
The audio output is quiet. I tested with my headphones and compared to my LG G4 and HTC M9. Both louder than the Z5
Ringtones/notifications are quiet and only come out the bottom speaker. Still the same behaviour in the Z5.
The bezels. Still huge. Can make my peace with it but the G4 by comparison has a waaay better screen to body ratio.
I hope they sort out how quick they are compared to other brands when it comes to android updates...
Those aside it seems to be a great handset and I definitely miss the battery performance that I got out of the Z3.
The waterproofing was nice to have too.
The fingerprint reader is my favourite implementation of any handset on the market currently. Camera seems a vast improvement but the few dark shots I took were kinda noisy. I'm probably going to pick one up soon. I rather like the green one.
I'm a little disappointed in the camera - the centre of the picture is fine but as you get to the outer edges everything is really blurry/out of focus.

This is what I was looking for. I met quite a few people online with exactly the same problem but they had the Z5 Compact just like me. I was hoping that the Z5 would not have this issue since this is really annoying.

Another QC problem. Sony needs to know this, every time the first few batches of their phones have problems. The Z3 phones had some purplish tint on the middle of the photos, some Z3+ also had lens misalignment.
can you please update us on the battery life ,I had the Z3 and it was great but the battery life on the Z3+ wasn't as good .

I took quite a few pictures with the Z5C and compared them with my Redmi Note 2 and my Vivo Xshot. You can clearly see that the Z5C is only able to focus the middle of the picture. The corners are mostly darker, out of focus and blurry.
Take a look at my album https://goo.gl/photos/t8yMJ1wF7pwf3cPVA
The last two pictures are the most obvious ones.
Edit:
In terms of battery life.... I can not compare it to a Z3, Z3C or a Z3+ since I have never had a Sony phone before. From what I have heard that the Z3C has an amazing up to 3 days battery life I could not manage to get this much time out of the Z5C. I mostly had to charge it every day on normal usage.
One thing that bugs me even more is that if you want to view a picture it takes up to two seconds until the pic gets crisp. This is crazy. I used another picture viewer app as well. Same problem. I tried it with another Z5C in another store which had the same problem. It is really annoying if you want to view pics on your phone or on your TV and you always have to wait 1-2 seconds until the photo gets clear.
I do not think that the reason for this is the 2GB of ram. Can someone confirm this? Does this happen on the Z5 as well?

I disagree abut the audio being quiet I tested the same song on my Z3 vs the Z5 compact and the compact is alot louder and clearer. I have never tested the G4 but I do agree it is not as loud as the M8/9 but not many phones are.
Thanks for the feedback. I had an M9 and that rocked through headphones. I was hoping they improved volume over Z3 and it sounds like they did. I didn't expect it to track M9 levels, which to be honest, couldn't be played all the way open because it was so loud. Nice to have that option though
I cant wait till I receive this phone. I ordered the Made For Bond version and coming from a s6 I am not expecting super results. I am just tired of Touchwhiz and want to try something new. I hope this phone does it for me.

Z5 returned for a defect...and for good :(

Ok, here we go. I've been (and still am) a HUGE fan of Sony mobile products. You obviously see from my sig that I own the Z3 Compact Tablet and Smartwatch 3, both products that I simply LOVE and believe are the best among the competition. I've also owned three Xperia phones previously (ZL, Z1, Z3). The Z5, killed it for me. KILLED IT. First of all, I really wanted to believe the hype about the new camera and finally say that my Sony phone is as good as my wife's iPhone 6 camera or my friends' other Android phone cameras. Sadly, that is not the case. The sensor might be awesome and new, but unfortunately Sony still can't properly process the images. I read the reviews and watched the videos before buying mine, and I wanted so badly for them to be wrong. However, after playing with the Z5 for 5 days, I came to the conclusion that the new sensor hasn't changed anything. Pictures still come out grainy and soft and fail miserably in comparison to the competition. The new sensor is also fast, as fast as Sony claims, BUT for some reason there is a lag when you press the shutter button that leads to slightly blurred images.
I also have to admit that for some reason or another, the Z5 lost it's sexiness when compared to the Z3. I can go on and mention some of the other little things, but in all honesty, the camera and the way the phone looks did it in.
With that said, I've returned the phone as I was originally planning on doing anyway because of the light bleed issue, but I'm actually ordering the international version of the white Galaxy S6 instead. I use the phone at work daily for mobile app design testing and it is the best phone Sammy has ever released, not to mention one of the best cameras out there. I guess I was hoping that the Z5 would be just that, a S6 with Sony styling and no touchwiz, but I guess I'll settle for the S6 until Sony addresses the real issue behind their weak camera.
This is by no means intended to change anyone's opinion about the Z5, just sharing my observations and reasons. Who knows, maybe next year like now the Z6 will finally be the phone with the camera that everyone will drool over. Until then, I'll still be a loyal Sony guy with my X3C Tablet and SmartWatch 3 (fingers crossed for a SW4 soon).
Did you adjust your position to account for Z5's wide FoV before taking shots for comparison? I have a Z5, Z3+, S6 & they all take cleaner low-light indoor shots than my sister's IP6+ (with OIS)! I'm not a blind Sony fan either. I'd rather get shot than pick a Sony TV (my second favorite) over a Panasonic (Plasma) TV lol
I'm currently a Sony hardcore fan, but i highly recommend you Samsung Galaxy K Zoom for your photography enthusiasm on phone .
For other great feature/design + waterproof phone, get Xperia Z series.

I'd probably go with something like QX100/30 as they work on both android & iOS. They also stay with you even if you decide to ditch the 'phone'
Not trying to insult you, spielnicht, but you know it's a two-stage shutter button?
I feel like the camera is way better than the Z3s. And that's good enough for me.
Design is preference. I personally find the green one that I have, sexy.
The only gripe that I have worth mentioning is the speakers. They are pretty weak compared to my HTC One M8.
There is no other phone out there that combines what Sony has done with the Z5.
-Pocketable
-Great camera. (works well enough)
-Likeable design (preference)
-Water resistant
-Front firing speakers
-And most of all. The most comfortable fingerprint scanner on the market.
-"premium materials and build"

Heh. Yeah I'm aware of that. Regardless of whether you use the physical shutter button or tap the screen, there is a .5sec delay until the picture is snapped and thus leads to blurry images unless you are a robot and don't move the phone at all in that .5sec.
Like I said, no one here needs to convince me that Sony's hardware is TOPS and the design is timeless and of the highest quality. However, you get to a point when you ask yourself whether not being able to take nice pics of your kids is worth living with it. For me, it's not. I am finally willing to try out Samsung since it's going to get me more of the things that I need daily. For my Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet, a camera is irrelevant, so I'm more than thrilled to own that over any other brand.
I just read Sony is building a dedicated mobile factory in Thailand, so fingers crossed that they are putting more R&D efforts and actually work on the shortcomings of the Xperia line. Until then, you'll find me at the Z3 Compact Tablet forum
Sony definitely has work to do on the camera app; I have faith in the new sensor technology but software wise... This planned camera app update in November should hopefully do the trick.
My own observations:
- Holding the camera button to wake the camera (from screen off or even standby) is not reliable. Sometimes requires a second long-press of the camera button. Sometimes this leads to a photo being taken the second the camera app opens.
- Activating the camera can sometimes be practically instant (half a second) or sometimes 2 or 3 seconds - no consistency here at all.
- Accessing your camera roll can sometimes be maddeningly slow.
Hi guys, I switched to Z5 from Z3 and since I have not been able to sell my old phone yet, I have also had some doubts if the upgrade is worth it. If I had the option to return the Z5 I might also go for it, but that's not possible here. However, I think that the Z5 has great hardware and design, and at the moment what is holding it back is the software. After all we are still on the initial release for the device and it's only fare to give a chance to the next software version. Also, the device was released at a time when sony was probably already developing their version of Android 6, and might not have put too much work in the already "outdated" version that the z5 has out of the box. Anyway, I hope the update to Marshmallow brings improvements and I'd really like to see the concept for android software on the Z5.

I went from a Z3 to the Z5. To justify the price difference, you would need to consider what the Z5 offers that the Z3 doesn't and see if that matters to you.
What initially helped me justify the move:
Fingerprint Scanner
Normal USB Port
Supposedly Better Camera
What quickly killed the excitement:
Disappointing camera performance during everyday use
Bland design (in comparison to the Z3 at least)
Phone feels thicker
LCD light bleed issues (the final straw for me)
Sony have always had **** camera performance in the Xperia line even though apple etc use Sony sensors and their pics are amazing!!

Thank you very much indeed, after reading the above, honestly, i think i will just upgrade to the Z3 and save some money, not too interested in the Fingerprint scanner, but it does sound good, maybe a bit gimmicky for myself, as for the others you have mentioned, again, quite happy with the way the Z3C is laid out.
Could i justify a price a difference of around £150 for a Fingerprint Scanner, and a normal USB port, i really dont think i could.
Z3 it is then, Thanks very much indeed.
Considering any Z1+ mobile produces way better photos than any Iphone in all light conditions (assuming DRM keys are intact and lens cover is not scratched) you probably better off buying a potato and slapping instagram filters on the photo and calling it a day. However SA dark/night mode seems wonky for the Z5 and probably will be updated.
