[GUIDE]Remove baseband restrictions - ONE General

EDIT:
@devilsshadow has done a more useful guide in this thread based on the discussion here so this thread will be closed!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-unlock-aditional-bands-qualcomm-t2877031
Hi all,
seems that some guys where able to remove software based baseband restrictions from SnapDragon modem chips so it is possible that you use your phone in every band that is supported by your hardware. In that post a driver for OnePlus is linked too For worldwide travellers this seems to be quite comfortable.
In the quoted post you'll find the necessary drivers for our OPO and in the first post you'll find the whole procedure.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55395908&postcount=153
BE CAREFUL!
BRICKING OF DEVICE IS POSSIBLE!

So, what bands are available after doing this? Are there any unmentioned bands?

Just take a look at the first post in the thread. Some bands are restricted through software. There is a screenshot before & after unlocking. There are a lot of LTE frequencies which are unlocked etc. It depends on the modem of your phone.

I believe this is only worthwhile for the Chinese OPO to unlock the worldwide LTE bands to be able to use it in the US.

Possible, I can't prove that because I've got the international version. But as far as I know many here in the forum are using the chinese version of the OPO so perhaps it could be useful.

Did anybody succeed enabling 800 MHz LTE for Europe?

Thanks for posting this I travel all over the world and this will be very helpful to me. I will try this out after work and see what bands I am able to access.

This doesn't matter for OnePlus One , we don't have restrictions in the baseband. You can use it worldwide without doing this thing.

If you have the Chinese OPO, you do have restrictions (aka those who bought the phone without a invite)

how do you get into the relevant diagnostic/debugging mode with the 1+1 .
Download mode is easy, +vol and power with usb connected, or +/- with usb connected but not diagnostic, the process described doesn't work in download mode.

*#*#4636#*#*

That's not diagnostic mode though is it ? That's just the test app.

But would this allow to have the extra LTE channels? Some say it doesn't have the antennas for it but not sure and it might be licensing stuff.

From what I've read diagnostic mode is ROM dependent. Can anyone with a stock CM11 S try the following from phone:
*#*#8778#*#*
On my crdroid variant this magix sequence does not work. Regarding orgingal thread the phone should just go off screen without any error after typing this numbers.

Seems to do nothing on my CM11s.

None of the existing short codes work. We have download mode by pressing both vol buttons while the device is powered off and connected. This mode is close but it's not quite the same.
Which is why I asked, I've tried all the other published ones. Someone in the other thread said they'd got the devices showing up in device manager, but not how.

Yeah, I can't get past the 3rd step either. And step 3.5 is a bit confusing as I don't understand what I'm supposed to use to enable the diagnostics port. Any help would be appreciated.

i'm very new to android, so can anyone help me rooting the M250L
Since you're in Korea with a phone i'm assuming you know enough Korean to navigate and sign up for this site.
http://matpclub.com/s/p3
Search for your model number: M250L
There's only been one firmware dump (the original) to my knowledge since this particular model isn't very popular. Use an insecure kernel to root first then flash the original kernel back when you've finished rooting.
You can find the original kernel on matpclub and an insecure kernel either here or on matpclub. Check the 'Development' subforum for more information.

Yea, i also need to know on how to root. I checked this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399, but seem like the info pertain to non-Korean SGS2. I am not sure what is K2/K7 is? Couldn't find that in the phone info menu.
Any help?
You guys really need to learn how to navigate matpclub. All the required files are there. Just plug in your model number into the search bar and most likely there'll be stock firmwares, modified and stock kernels, among other things.
I've uploaded the files for the SHW-M250K here. Files for the M250K and M250L you can find on matpclub. I'll upload them somewhere when I get back home.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068307
This will work for ALL versions:
Flash a rooting kernel; secure, insecure, results-in-a-boot-loop, it won't matter as long as you can get Superoneclick to successfully root your phone.
Once you've done that, flash the stock samsung kernel for your model of phone and the same firmware number. If your firmware doesn't have a separate kernel released then you can flash an older one, it'll work but i'm not sure what side-effects it'll have.
Keep in mind this is a very basic root only method. They've got other things going on at matpclub but I haven't gotten around to reading through it all yet.
BTW that kernel (same with all i9100 kernels) will most likely result in your phone going into a boot loop. To fix it you have to flash the kernel meant for your specific model; S, K or L.
thanks for the help Sticks02, but i can't read Korean so that site is no good for me

If you're not actually in Korea then having the Korean version isn't really a good idea. All it has over the EU version is T-DMB and NFC. And a free battery?
Having said that Australia's 3G networks are UMTS 850/900/2100 so i'm happy with just keeping mine, i'll have a slightly different awesome version to show off when I visit home.

Is it in Aircraft mode, is there a PIN for the simcard, check with another simcard, if all else failed, what about trying another baseband.

What carrier are you on to begin with? You havnt mentioned it and noone can guess as we dont know where you live either

What carrier is it? the US streak doesnt support 900mhz for 3g
carrier is Mobilink
If I were you I would flash the stock recovery (not using the tool... I've seen that do more harm than good because it allows for getting things out of sync) the latest retail is 360 so go with that and then flash the stock Tom manually and see if that helps

Hey, Honor 5X (KIW L24) Gets the Mashmellow Update in the US

Starting today, we are pleased to begin rolling out the highly anticipated Marshmallow update in the US. As part of this update, Honor 5X will also be receiving EMUI 4.0.
Is there anyway to force update it? Update is not showing up when I manually check in settings.
Super pumped to take marshmallow for a spin
I haven't been able to update either... I guess we just have to wait.
Update does not appear here too!
More: http://www.hihonor.com/us/blogs/honor-5x-gets-the-marshmallow-update/130547/
Forced update dial code *#*#2846579158#*#* does not work, fyi...
Between here, Honors' .com site and their US Facebook,
I don't see a Single user reporting the update.
Edit: I see one on Facebook, lol
If anyone gets the update or finds a download link please post here.
In the Facebook thread there's a guy named Mario who got it. The only confirmed one to get it so far if you guys want to try and teach him how to capture the OTA.

ok champ before you get all wired,
1. I know the phone does not come with an NFC chip in it.
2. I know this thread is for the MM update that Honor USA is lying about releasing.
3. I have already search about this in other threads, obviously to no avail.
4. Do you have input/ or are looking to bust somebodies chops on the internet.

Let me answer your question about the NFC Sim, probably not. Probably not for all the tea in China. And this thread is about capturing the MM update which did come out because people on FB are confirming they got it.

"adb logcat" on a computer while checking for the update on the phone. It will always list the update URL. It's a pretty big patch -- 376 MB. Boot and recovery are modified but no separate fastboot. So either that's been added into the normal partition commands, or it's still going to be an OTA to enable bootloader unlocking.
Can't wait to hear from the brave souls who update first have to say. I'm goign to keep my root/twrp for now

Security patch level at September 1, 'Backup account' no longer greyed out, tweeked signal strength indicator, audio no longer drops out when starting camera and probably a host of other tweeks under the hood.

Telstra Australia Launched SM-G977B S10 5G

I haven't seen this listed anywhere since a search for this model number brings up nothing.
The Australian stock is the model SM-G977B
Its an Exynos version with the old UFS and the model given as part of the free upgrade promo (when you preordered the s10 plus), is a 512GB black variant.
I can't see much development being done for this since obviously no one has this model, but I'd love to be able to root it.
Hopefully more people will get this phone, and some dev can start. If there's anything I can do to get the ball rolling, let me know!
Root
Hey mate, I have already achieved root day one of receiving my device from this offer , I am by no means an advanced developer but technology is my passion. The process was simple due to it being the same process as topjohnwu already published. This is the official page for the instructions by topjohnwu which do work: topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#samsung-system-as-root. If you struggle at any point feel free to reply. I will be posting this in the development threat for others so there aware.
As for TWRP, thats a different story, I have tried flashing TWRP from the s10+ and hoping it would work but it did not which was to be expected. So I am attempting my own build of TWRP by modifying the s10+ TWRP to match the s10 5G. Mind you I have never compiled TWRP or Android. I have mainly tinkered with iOS on apples hardware so no promises I'll figure it out nor that it will be bug-free but if I do manage to find it I'll post it for another developer to maybe check and fix.
But root is definitely possible as of now,
Happy rooting!.
Hwy thanks for that.
Do you still get updates? I've never rooted without a custom rom before?
Also, do you use exposed? Edexposed or virtual exposed? It's the main reason I want to root
Lastly where did u get the boot image from?
Thanks
Hey mate, over the air updates I believe do not work. To update you'd need to download the latest firmware and repatch the ap file. But I haven't done this. There is a forum post somewhere outlining the process though so I'll try and dig that up.
As for the exposed framework I haven't tested that out nor have I used it before but it is something I wanna dive into. The last time I tinkered with Android was years ago where exposed wasn't a big thing. But I have seen users state they've got it running from edxposed or something like that from the magisk add on panel. So I'll give it a try now and report back to you.
As for the firmware I cannot upload any links as I'm a new user. But if you shoot me an email [email protected] I'll be happy to send you the link I personally used.
