Will the note 4 have led notifications? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm starting to lean towards this after the botched apple iphone 6 announcement, and not that I was expecting to be overwhelmed. I'm starting to really appreciate finger print authentication as I use this on my samsung galaxy tab s. I'm using an LG G3 as my phone by the way and the only other feature I would want on the Note 4 is the knock on knock off.

yup it does

I said the same thing when the s4 came out and just decided to wait for the Note 3.
I had the Note 2 and the s4 was just too small for my liking. Cant go back to "small" screens.
s5 will more than likely have more/better features than Note 3 (no s-pen or those features though) but if you're going to wait for the s5, why note wait a couple months and get the Note 4?
Its all down to preference and what'd you'd like out of your phone.
Do you want a note size device or S sized device? I can't see them making the S much bigger or it could canabilize Note sales. Also specs will be better on the S5.
I think you'll always be waiting.. because when the S5 come out the Note 4 will be around the corner and whatever else HTC or LG device that might come out
If size isn't a issue you have no problem get the Note 3..The s5 won't come out in January if you listening to that rumor

There is always something better right around the corner. Larger screen and device or smaller screen and device? That should answer your question.
Honestly, The Note 3 is damn near everything you Could want. It's excellent, I'd get it. It'll still be great this time next year.
sEnt from thE noTe 3
Every time you wait, there will always be something newer/better on the horizon. The St will not have the S-pen so if you want that you need something from the Note line... but as long as you're waiting, I'm sure there will be a Note 4 next year.

[Q] Worth update from galaxy note 1 n7000?

Hi,
I'm just wondering if anybody here come from a galaxy note 1, and if yes, if thinks the update was worth it or not.
Thanks!
I came from a note 3.
Will not really. My wife has a note 3 and I had to help her get it setup and I couldn't wait to not have to mess with it any longer. ?
This is a refresh for a Samsung user. Give it a try for a week, you'll love it.

I went from i717 (ATT Note 1) and the G2 is much faster, battery life is much better.
The screen is more narrow, but almost the same height. I moved everything from my Note to the G2 and found some things were a bit squished or had to remove a column on the G2 but day to day use it's fine, and probably a little easier to use.
The buttons are really dumb, but the G2's "knock" on feature (tap twice on the screen to wake it) works good and I never use the power button. I've rarely messed with volume buttons, I let Tasker manage that for me.
Camera is much better, although I am having problems with any kind of close up being out of focus and if using flash, the picture being blown out. But that might be strictly an AOSP camera issue, and I'm talking 4-5 inches from the camera, normal distances are fine.
As as I mentioned, battery life is insanely better. I've gotten 60 hours off the charger at home on wifi with about 70 minutes screen-on time and yesterday at work at noon instead of the Note being around 65% at lunch time the G2 was at 92%.
It's a massive upgrade spec-wise and it's cheap if you have an upgrade available. Otherwise, you might look at the Nexus 5, it's very similar.
I think that if you are happy whit your phone it doesn´t whorth it.
But if you want to change hell yeah.
People are changing their Note 3 for this and fell happy about it, i suppose with the Note it will be even better.
At this point I would wait to see what's about to drop in the next couple points

Former Galaxy / Note lover....
I have used almost every generation Samsung device.
- Epic 4G
- Galaxy 2
- Galaxy 3
- Galaxy Note 2
- Galaxy Note 3
I finally got sick of touchwiz and a bunch of other stuff not worth mentioning and leaped for the LG G2 (T-Mobile)
I believe this phone is far more superior than the Note 3 in every way. AMAZING battery life, beautiful IPS display, the slim design for being a 5" screen, 13MP Cam w/ OIS, and for those camera enthusiasts.... MANUAL FOCUS !
When I found out this camera had a Manual Focus option, I was blown away.......
Get this phone, you won't regret it.

Move from nexus 5 to Note 3

Ok, a little background. Been moving phones like crazy in the last 4 years. Djeez XDA and big boy toys, you're all to blame
I now have a Nexus 5 32GB next to my Note 1 which I just have to flash roms (yes, I am that crazy)
To be honest I love the form factor of the Note and I am very disappointed in the Nexus 5. How can you make a phone that has a bad speaker to start with, a seriously bad video stabilization in my eyes, rattling buttons, hardware gps connection issues, yellowish display ....
Are there any people here that switched from a Nexus 5 to a Note 3 and do you want to share your opinion about it?
Or are there people that dislike the Note 3 after a while?
Go for it....u will love it...go for n9005.
Wish u good luck.

Hi mate I did the exact same swap from nexus 5 to note 3. Love nexus devices but was massively disappointed in the 5. Everyone goes on about vanilla android but I love touchwiz.
Software and hardware wise the note 3 is a clear winner in my eyes. Battery is alot better than the nexus which is expected due to the size I guess
I love the big screen both for size and quality. Also the advantage of having the memory card option for storage.
I think it is a good move, I am bit of an android/samsung fan boy but I reckon the facts speak for themselves regardless of opinion.

I made the switch from a nexus 5. After years with Android I was really hankering after a pure Android experience. I loved the Nexus 5 when I first got it but I have to admit I found vanilla android a bit boring after a while. Build quality was an issue too for me. Love the note 3. Battery life. Performance. Screen size. S pen, which I do use a lot. Touchwhiz is lookin old though, would really like it if we got the new look on the s5. Knowing Samsung like I do I'll be surprised if we do. Anytime this year anyway. And you see that takes us back to the Nexus 5. Updates! You choose which is more important to you.

I tried LG G2 and after few days I returned it because of bad quality of body, speaker and mic. Note is much more better.

Seems like exactly the same reasons why I would move to the Note 3.
Now that I modified my car radio so I can finally play music over Bluetooth so the 32GB - OS - APPS doesn't cut it anymore. Especially when travelling in remote countries.
I've never had an issue with my S1 S2 S3 or note 1 except for the GPS in the S1 which was a hardware contact design issue.
All my HTC devices have gone in for warranty with a lot of (insert not so nice word here). So no more HTC.
I thought going to the Nexus 5 was going to give me the joys of a vanilla latest rom but I am disappointed in the lack of stuff that google build into it and especially the top specs hardware which just don't seem to be top in the real world.
So probably will have to sell the N5 to fund the Note 3. .... now what will I tell my wife ... again. :silly:
I've had an S2, S3, S4, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, also iphone 4s and 5. I'm now on the note 3 and I can safely say I think it is the best of the bunch by far.
I know it is easy to say because I have the device but you can also see that I have experienced a number of recent devices. I had to buy my Mrs A note 3 when I got mine

That's what makes it dangerous I think
For the price you really can't beat the nexus 5. In almost all other aspects the Note 3 (I can only speak for the N9005 which I own) is the better phone.
I briefly switched over to the nexus 5 and did enjoy aspects of the vanilla software as well as the development scene. However after a few days I began to miss certain features of the Note 3 software and really missed the screen, pen and battery life. Speaker is much better too.

Agree nexus 5's are good for the price, Nexus phones generally nearly always are. However I wasn't happy with the speaker, screen, camera or build quality which has really put me off the nexus brand.

Which phone after Note 3

Hi Everyone
Had my SN9005 since launch. Feel it's now time for a new phone.
Been waiting for the LG G4 battery reviews and they are not very promising. Though it still seems the best of the bunch at the moment. Would love a Droid Maxx but no signs of anything similar being released in the UK.
Wanting to move away from Samsung because of KNOX.
So what's the options pls.
TIA
Wait for the new Nexus or the new OnePlus
I still don't see why everyone is so obsessed with KNOX... The EU laws render the KNOX flag irrelevant. (So unless you lot all vote 'leave' in 2017, those apply to you as well.)
At any rate, maybe the Nexus 6? Or the newly expected Nexus 5 2015?
Personally I'm waiting to see what the Note 5 will be.
probably the note 5 it will be a huge upgrade over note 3 and even note 4 i will tell you why:
1- cpu = it will have a 64 bit fully unlocked out of the box
2- ram = it maybe 4 giga as its first note and 64 bit samsung may not remanufactures note 4 so it will be 4 giga ram to feed real 64 bit cpu
3- software = newer touchwiz with lollipop 64 bit fully support out of the box
4-display = 2k or even 4k i think it will be 4k and it maybe 5.9
about the edge it may not came with edge it may come with fully foldable display very limted like note edge did in 2014
If this is indeed the Note 5, then I would be first in queue for it. My only problem is that Samsung seems to be heading towards closed off devices and I'm not a fan of them.
If this is the case, I'll be going to the G4. I've loved my Note 3 since I've had it. I don't think I can go for a smaller sized phone anymore. 5.1 just seems too small now.
Note 3 camera and casing really let me down. Kinda material (casing) with kinda price tag really dissapointed. No more Samsung after Note 3.
Any suggestion?
Unfortunately with Samsung they are not updating they bring out the best phones but leave customers hanging I've not even seen lollipop and m is being released and puts me off getting Samsung again to be left out in the cold after 12 months so that's why I'm going nexus I get the updates soon as they come out and no that in 3 yes time they will still be releasing current updates
what do you guys think of the upcoming chinese phones like xiaomi or meizu ? (i heared the last xiaomi mi note pro had massive overheating problems)
Note 5
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
I think that the best option is waiting for note 5 or new nexus or other new. At now don't have worthy successor note 3 in my opionion. If you must change note 3 for other phone i suggest Note Edge because is different from phones in the market but have KNOX. For example i like have phone which is uncommon .
Note 5 or next nexus.
I personally think that note 5 will be the best choice. It should have many improvements over note 3
I wonder why Note 3 still rock us.
I think may be Note 5 (Edge) or S6 Edge (Plus).:good:
I like the phone with many good custom ROMs.
Atm it's not worth changing it with another phone, even the s6 wouldn't be a decent upgrade.
I'm keeping this for another year (bought it last summer) and will most likely get the note 5 after it gets a bit cheaper.
Nexus 6 is garbage (just like all the nexus devices), note 4 is not worth it, s6 is not worth it, g4 is not worth it, basically all current Gen phones are simply not worth it, as they aren't a huge upgrade.
And Sony is absolute trash, stay away from it! I've had their z3 tablet and it was the worst flagship device I ever owned, in my life.
i upgrade my note 3 every now and again with new casing and glass screen protector.
am using it till it dies.
the thing is so future proof. the only thing its missing is a finger print scanner

+1. Absolutely true. Got a new battery and updated rom. Maybe it won't die?
I have to agree with most persons that indicated the note 5 as being a viable option, but the concern I have is with Samsung Tizen OS. If the note 5 comes with Android M, I'm sure that will be a great device, otherwise seek the LG G4.

It's just such a shame that the Spen is a Samsung exclusive...
I can't go without it. If I'm not writing or drawing, I'm using it for games or the delightful little feature that is Penwindow. A regular stylus would not suffice, it's the Wacom tech that makes it what it is.
Regular stylusses are like trying to fingerpaint a Picasso.

Note 7 Users

I know their some chatter buried in threads, but for those of you who were Note 7 users I'd love to know how you compare the s8+ to last years note.
It has widely been said that apart from it's one obvious flaw, the Note 7 was the best phone ever, so where does that put the s8+?
I'm still undecided to be honest. I'm still getting used to the fingerprint location, but the screen is amazing!
My Battery life is at about 90% of what I was getting out of my note and obviously no S-pen.
What do Ya'll think?

I have a Note 7 on my hand. Gotta love it. Shoot this might ticks off some sensitive folks here and be *****ing at me. Y am I still keeping it? Anyhow, let's get back to the point. There's not much difference between Note 7 vs s8+. Everything pretty much identical from physical stand's point to software. Note 7 is a bit shorter than s8+. If you put those 2 phone side by side you can't tell the difference. I'll get you some pics if you desire. Note 7 fits PERFECTLY inside the s8+'s phone case. They are pretty much same thickness, same curves, same symmetrical glass front/back, same width, EXCEPT s8+ is a bit taller. Now from the software, S8+'s is exactly identical to Note 7's. So obviously, whom ever still have Note 7 you aren't missing anything except loosing the screen real estate.
Nothing to date can compare, not even close, to my Note 7. It was a pocket PC.
I own the S8+ BUT if the Note 8 is anything like the Note 7 I will be changing.

Care to elaborate? Other than the pen, I can't really think of any major difference between the 2 phones. How is s8+ "not even close" to note 7?

With respect you write "Other than the pen".....Its the Pen that makes the Note range the Note range.:good:
In past Note series the pen was 'just' a writing implement but on the Note 7 that pen became more or less a mouse making the Note 7 a sort of pocket PC.
Its all subjective, I just fell head over heels for the Note 7, I thought it was a genuine marvel of micro technology. For me the S8+, though a truly spectacular mobile, does not serve my own needs as well as that Note 7. I guess one could write that the Note series is similar to the S range with the addition of the S-pen and is more expensive. :highfive:
Different consumers will enjoy different mobiles thank goodness, its our choices that keep the various brands striving to perfect their products so we purchase them.

Software is different - Note 7 shipped with 6.0 and the S8+ with 7.0.
They may not look too different but it's not the same software release...
My note 7 battery lasted a little longer and I do miss the aod screen write but other than a few software changes and the two things listed above they feel about the same. S8 might be a little snappier

Correct. Only if you r nick picking. Obviously newer releases comes with newer OS. Other than that, It's pretty much the same.
I was a light to moderate S-pen user, so losing it doesn't hurt me too bad.
I'm one of the few who held on for a long time and then just switched in december and didn't fight it anymore. The only reason I was okay doing that is because Samsung gave me to free s7edges for my trouble. I didn't lose a cent in the whole deal, gained 2 s7edges and 2 256gb Memory cards. The s7e was very lacking, but I'm very pleased with the s8+ compared to the note.
S8 plus is on par with the note 7. If there was an spen it would be an note 8.
It runs butter smooth and has a few of the things the note 7 had
I still have my Note 7.
My S8+ is snappier and battery life is a lot, lot better. Front facing camera of Note 7 is really bad compared to the S8+.
And of course, there's the bezel. The I put my S8+ beside my Note 7, the Note 7 already looks outdated.
For me, the less bezel, the better. I've pre-ordered the Xiaomi Mi Mix when it was announced because of that. I cancelled my order when I noticed that the shipping date kept being posponed.
When I look at the iPhone 7 for instance, it looks to me it's from 2010.
I'll be ordering the Note 8 the second it will be available for pre-order. I got the S8+ because my Note 7's IMEI was blocked, it's the only reason why I got the S8+. Otherwise I would have jumped from the Note 7 straight to the Note 8.
Overall, I far prefer my S8+ to my Note7. It's noticeably faster, it's prettier with the narrow bezels, and the fingerprint sensor works much better--yes, the placement is weird, but I'm used to it. I had given up on using the Note7's sensor, as it failed to read my fingerprint half the time. I also like the non-physical home key better.
The screen edges are slightly less curved on the S8+, and that seems to have solved the over-sensitivity that caused problems while typing on SwiftKey while grasping my Note7.

It was way worse on the S7E. The curve on the side was so much steeper. It drove me bonkers.
Does anyone know how to backup the notes taken with the S Pen on the lockscreen (when the screen is off and you take the S Pen out)?
Smart Switch told me it couldn't backup those notes. I'd really like to have them back when I'll get the Note 8. I might return my Note 7 tonight and don't want to lose them forever.
At the time, the Note7 was easily the best phone on the market. When I had to stop using it (the Canadian carriers blocked it), nothing else could compare. I had to settle for the S7 edge, which felt like a big step down.
Now that I have the S8+, I feel mostly satiated. On the S8+, I'm not a fan of the fingerprint reader location, I miss the S-Pen a bit, and I prefer the aesthetic of the more squared corners of the Note7 (when looking at it from the front). However, the feel in the hand is the same and I prefer the larger screen and on-screen buttons of the S8+. I really dislike capacitive and physical buttons.
If the Note8 is the S8+ with an S-Pen, more squared corners, and a fingerprint reader built into the screen, then it would probably be the perfect phone. I can't think of anything else I would change.
My note 7 had horrible battery life in comparison to the S8+. The fingerprint reader on the N7 was placed better but the accuracy was garbage and had this clicky cheap feeling. The Iris scanner is more accurate on the S8+ in my opinion. The N7 was laggy in some situations and I had redraws when exiting apps. The S8+ is blazing fast, no stutters no redraws. The pen I actually never used on the N7. Gimmick in my eyes.

I used Smart Switch to transfer from my Note7 to the S8+. All of the hand-written, screen-off notes were transferred and available in Samsung Notes on the S8+. I don't know if it matters, but I used the external storage transfer method (placing the backup on the SD card, which I then transferred to the other phone.)
Argh. It didn't work for me. I kept having that message saying it couldn't save them. All permissions were granted to Smart Switch, I don't understand why it wouldn't save them.
I just handed back my Note 7 ten minutes ago, at Costco. RIP

S8+ is a little snappier and looks better. Camera seems better. I will switch to note 8 when it comes out. But this s8 is sure a huge step up from the v20 I had after note 7. The v20 looked decent on paper but after owning it I was really underwhelmed. I do miss the ir blaster though.
