Gf Deleted Google account from phone, anyway to recover? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got my gf a nexus 4 over a year ago and set up a Gmail account for her. She never used the Gmail account except for contacts. She saved contacts only to this Gmail account.
We were driving home today and she asked me how to add her work email to the phone. I told her settings, accounts, Google, add account. She added the account and it worked. Then, without telling me, because she has some ocd about erasing things from her phone, she deleted the original Gmail account.
About an hour ago, she tried to call her sister and her original contacts were erased. She told me what she did.
She does not remember the name of the Gmail account. I do not remember the name I created it as. Is there anywhere on the phone where just the name of the original Gmail addressed would be saved? That would get us started at guessing the password.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Eric

you can try login to gmail with google chrome (maybe there is some database where email was stored).
you can search a logcat for an email.

Another suggestion: check your own contacts. Maybe your girlfriends contact details include her gmail address.

Get a new girlfriend
Check to see if the email is logged in to any other devices if not well tough luck

Thanks guys. I used Google recovery website associated with her name and found the address. I got the password on the first try.
Thank you guys. I look really good right now

email problem - emails being sent multiple times.

I replied to a couple of emails yesterday from my phone [pop3 gmail account] and later in the evening I logged into the gmail account to find each had been sent twice.
today I did alot of replies to emails [different account - this one gmail imap] and by the afternoon I saw that each mail/reply was getting sent 3 times to each recipient [including back to myself].
Any idea how to find out why it is doing this and to fix it please?
I recently had a problem where if i replied to an email it got sent to me, so i deleted my email setup and re-enterd my details been fine since then,
Thanks. It would be nice to be able to fix it without deleting stuff - will see otherwise will try this.
Problem is that it seems to affect mutliple accounts so might have to delete all of them
More help appreciated:
I deleted ALL the email accounts and re-added them
I also checked to delete my own email address when I do a "reply all"
Today I did a "reply" to an email and just logged into my gmail account on the 'puter to see that it has been sent twice again!!
Problem applies to IMAP And pop3 accounts

Help with Gmail please....

Hi everyone,
I need help with my friends X10.
We set up a gmail address for her, when she got the phone --> [email protected] but she didn't like that address so she never used it. That address was registered with the phone by going to the mobile section of the googlemail site, and sending a text to the phone.
I have since deleted this account from her phone... the reason being she set up a new address -> [email protected] but it seems she played around with that a bit, trying to synch emails etc
This [email protected] account still appears on her phone because when I look for synchronisation, and look at google, I can see it in a panel. This phone is set up for [email protected].
She decided to set up a third address, yes, we are going to call that [email protected]
She has set up this address on the PC,. and sends her hotmail and other emails to it. We can see on the PC that emails have indeed been moved to the gmail account.
We do not seem to be able to synchronise the [email protected] mail, calendar and contacts with her X10. If I click on the account, I can check mail, calendar and contacts but despite seeing some activity with a synchronisation icon, nothing synchs!
I have also cleared the data from apps ->? google apps.
Any advice? I will meet her tomorrow and will ask her to show me her phone again.
I wonder whether we should delete all email accounts and reinstall.
I don't want to do a factory reset and start again.

What was wrong with the first and second email?, and have you cleared the Gmail app data too?

I think she didn't think the names through, so now she dislikes them. The number 3 address is the one she likes.
Yes, I did clear gmail app data but will see her again tomorrow, and repeat that procedure.

Email accounts

I've just 'lost' all my POP3 email accounts from my Galaxy S. It's the second time it's happened. When I click on the email app, it asks me to create a new one. Anyone know where they might be stored in my Titanium Backup? Restored email but that didn't help.
Don't want to have to set up my 5 accounts again if I don't have to.
TIA

which email client you use?
is it just email account that you lost? or there are some other casulty?
Was about to respond in detail when I noticed my accounts had suddenly come back! Really don't understand but at least it's working now.

Hotmail contact sync via exchange

I've done a lot of searching here and other places on the net, and haven't found a solid answer.
I've attempted to sync my hotmail/live contacts via exchange. I notice though, that the only fields available for my hotmail contacts, are things like first and last name. no phone number, email or any other information besides names. even when I try to add a contact, the only way to add things like number, email address, physical address is by syncing it with my Google account.
I don't use Google for much of anything. all my contacts and email are served through hotmail/live services.
How do I go about adding and syncing contacts with my hotmail/live exchange accounts?
thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

HMMM, not sure what to tell you but mine sync up just fine...
Try going to accounts and sync and erasing the data and then the email address, reboot the phone, and then add the address again...
just a suggestion though.... not a problem with android though because it works just fine for me....
you could also try going through the "email" client and setting up your email there instead of through "accounts and sync"
lemme clarify a bit.
I am able to sync my contacts, but if I want to edit or even add a new contact to my hotmail-exchange account, I can only add (in this order:
Name prefix
First Name
Middle Name
Last Name
Name suffiX
Phonetic given name
Phonetic middle name
Phonetic family name
there are no options available for e-mail, phone, address or any other fields that are normally available for a contact.
When I open the contact to view it though it will show me the information stored in hotmail/live information, but I CANNOT edit it. If I try to, I get the screen described above.....
So in order for me to have an updated address book, I have to add/edit contacts from the google account I have (which I don't use for anything, except to download from Market or whatever)
Are you able to add a new contact and save it to your contact book in hotmail/live?
I have tried things like removing my hotmail and live accounts and then readding them.
I think the difference between your account and mine is that you are syncing yours through your google account where as I am not... to be clear, I am not syncing my emails nor contacts nor calendar through my gmail account. I only have my hotmail account set up on the phone to sync. Except for on the phone, the two accounts don't know the other exists. IF you are syncing your hotmail contacts through your gmail account, then you are tied to the fields provided by your google account.
TO answer your question, yes, I can make any modification the phone allows to my hotmail contact and it is reflected in my hotmail account.
I just wanted to say thanks for the insight....
I had to unlink everything that was syncing, and then resynced accounts, starting with my Hotmail/live accounts....all fixed now.
thanks again.

Lemme get this straight. The issue is present only if two contact syncing services are enabled?
I tried. Setting Hotmail as the very first contact sync service and adding Google account without contacts sync does't work around the issue.

Contact backup?

Thanks to a dodgy 2.3.3 update Bell sent my DZ a few days ago my phone is completely bricked and on it's way to the shop for a 4-6 week repair. Very pissed off, but that is another story!
After the courier picked up my phone I was left wondering if I would be able to recover my contacts. I thought they were all automatically synced with my google account, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I also had HTCsense.com set up, but it never allows me to log in.
Do I have any chance of seeing them again or should I start the fun process of sending the FB messags around asking for numbers?
HTCSense if you had an account backed up your contacts. If you also had gmail your you needed to point to the GMAIL address book to have them synced.
In all honesty you should be ok with your HTCSense account.
Ok cool - thanks for you help. Definitely had an HTCsense account so hopefully it was working!

Welcome to Android. Everything is backed up to your main Gmail account unless for some reason you're only making phone-level contacts rather than google contacts.
