Can I Flash this ROM?? - PAC Q&A

I'm new to flashing Roms and would like to know if the Pacman ROM would work on my phone. I have the Moto X Developer Edition. I have unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP, and rooted the phone. I'm running Android 4.4.4. My kernel version is 3.4.42. If I can't flash it, what else do I need to do? I apologize for my ignorance.

Go here, read everything first, ask questions second, to see if your specific phone is supported.

[Q] Can a ROM intended for SafeStrap be used on a Developer Edition phone?

If this has been answered, I have not found that answer, and it's not for lack of trying. So apologies in advance. I HAVE searched and pored through threads and pursued all other reasonable means to find the answer to this question.
I have a Verizon Developer Edition S5. I just upgraded from a Galaxy Nexus that I unlocked, rooted and flashed many times over.
On my S5 I installed TWRP and rooted it with no difficulty thanks to the good instructions in this thread:
[GUIDE] Installing a Custom Recovery and Rooting the Developer Edition Galaxy S5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2746586
I'm not really familiar with Safe Strap since I came from a phone with an unlocked bootloader.
I see plenty of ROMs for the VZW S5, but most of them talk about installing with SafeStrap.
So here's my question:
Is any ROM for the VZW S5 suitable for installation through BOTH SS and flashing through TWRP? Are there any restrictions or limitations regarding flasing one of these ROMs directly through TWRP on an unlocked-bootloader phone?
Thank you in advance.
Retail S5 owners can flash only TouchWiz based ROMS using Safestrap. A Dev S5 owner can flash touchwiz or AOSP AND other ROMS. Normally the developer will specify whether a ROM can be flashed with Safestrap or not. Dev S5s can flash almost any ROM using a custom recovery like TWRP.

To clarify my thread, a retail owner can flash only TouchWiz based ROMs with Safestrap. A Dev owner can flash any ROM ( a ROM developed for their carrier specific device most often) using a custom recovery like TWRP.

Again, thanks. That really sums it up well.
OK, let me ask a related question: can Safestrap be used on the developer edition phone without problems? I understand it's not necessary because the DE phone has an unlocked bootloader, but Safestrap looks convenient. And will Safestrap work with a non-Touchwiz-based ROM?
Thank you

[Q] Confused about kltevzw ROMs

Hi, I'd like something cleared up. I have a Verizon Galaxy S5 running Kitkat 4.4.4 which I have rooted. I was wanting to flash this Liquidsmooth ROM on it. It says it supports it, right? But how do you install this ROM if the locked bootloader keeps you from installing TWRP or CWM Recovery? Can it only be installed on the developer edition? I can't seem to find a definitive answer.
Thanks in advance.

It says in the OP the ROM is AOSP based, which means you cannot flash it on the retail Verizon version. It can only be flashed on the Developer Edition Verizon variant.
Ok, that's what I was thinking, but wasn't sure. Thanks for your help!

I was wondering exactly the same thing. I'm a total noob, I've never flashed a ROM. I rooted Verizon Galaxy S5, w KitKat 4.4.4. I wondered: if Lollipop kills Safestrap, how am I supposed to recover from a inappropriate Lollipop ROM? I was so frustrated by this question, I just bought (a cheap, mint) Developer Edition Samsung Galaxy S5. Now what? I would like to flash ROMS on my new phone , have found threads to do so, but the general question remains: what ROMS are right? Can the Developer Edition (DE) take any ROM that a non-Developer Edition can take? Can the DE S5 take ANY AOSP ROM? Such as CM 12.1? And to phrase the question for those with the non-DE S5 - how does one recover from a bad Lollipop ROM, if one cannot install recovery on a locked bootloader Verizon S5? -- and if one cannot use Safestrap (because I thought Safestrap was broken in Lollipop). Does one have to downgrade to KitKat to fix an incorrect ROM situation? Lots of questions, I'll research, but these still remain. Thank you!

A developer edition cannot run Roms for the retail edition. You will lock your device. You can backup your phone or flash something else by using Odin to flash a kernel of an earlier build such as nk2. This will bring safestrap back up.

I wouldn't suggest installing roms based off retail firmware for the de version as it'll probably lock your bootloader. Developer editions can take any aosp rom made for the kltevzw, and any rom that isn't based off of retail firmware, for that matter. Safestrap doesn't work on lollipop, but if you want it to run all you have to do is flash a kitkat kernel on odin and safestrap will work again, ths system will not, however, unless you install a lollipop kernel.

Are there any AOSP ROMS based on CM12.1 that are semi-stable? I saw the one by albinoman887 , but that one does not yet seem stable, and since I am a n00b, might not be a good idea to flash it.... Are there any other ROMS for Samsung GS5 kltevzw phones with unlocked bootloaders that you know of?
thank you!

Does the Verizon version have a locked bootloader? If it does, the phone cannot be flashed with a cm rom.

Noob question. New to X Pure. lollipop & marshmallow rom

Hey everyone. Forgive me with the noob question.
I recently got my hands on a friends Moto x Pure. I received it with unlocked bootloader and with rooted stock LOLLIPOP and TWRP.
I would like to start flashing roms but it looks like all roms have been updated to 6.0 or 6.0.1. How can I go about getting my MM roms flashed since I am still on 5.1.1. Can I flash like normal or is there modems that need to bee updated. If anyone could give me some help with it I would appreciated it
Again sorry for the noobness and I'm usually pretty good at all this but I wanted to ask since my device is pretty much ready to go and I haven't read and researched enough about this phone yet. Thanks!
Flash the mm pure modem from here

Flash the latest twrp and you're good.
Thanks a bunch dude!

Just Bought a Sprint HTC 10 HELP (ROMS)!

Finally upgraded to a 10 from M8. Glad I did. Right now I have it s-off and bootloader unlocked. Do I have to relock bootloader to flash RUU like the M8? Right now I am running Stock Sprint ROM. My question is how do I remove bloat and gain root? I have always been using SuperSU but now I want to try Magisk. My plan is to flash TWRP first and then Magisk on my Sprint ROM and manually remove bloat myself. I wonder if I flash the WWE_deoxed or Dev version would I mess up my radio and LTE bands/prl update ability? My goal is to have a Stock rooted sense rom with Magisk that works with my carrier Sprint. Also, I want to have the ability to have OTA updates from HTC directly if possible. If I have to flash the WWE or Dev version that's cool but I don't know if I have to change my CID or not. I just want a pure sense rom that works with Sprint and able to take updates? Btw what are the differences between WWE or Dev since my bootloader is already unlocked? will I be able to flash magisk on these two roms? I have read over the forums but there are too much information someone guide me in the right path please. thanks and god bless!

Rooting this device is no different than the M8, for the most part. Before you flash any sort of custom ROM I highly suggest making a backup of your current ROM, to include the system image, as this will help you take OTA updates in the future. Second, if you check OMJ's threads in the Sprint development forum you will find stock rooted ROM's for the 10. I believe he also has Magisk versions that you can install, if you so desire. As far as relocking the bootloader to run a RUU, that's not necessary now. If you plan on using a custom Nougat ROM you will need the latest TWRP recovery, which can be found in Captain Throwback's TWRP thread in the main HTC 10 development forum. I can't really help you with the rest of your questions, as I have a Sprint 10 and run ROM's that work for the device that don't require any sort of modification to the device outside of having an unlocked bootloader with S-off and TWRP.

Thanks for the reply. I am glad I don't have to relock and unlock bootloader again for RUU. Many thanks to Captain Throwback who has been providing stock roms since M8 days. Is there any ways to remove Sprint bloat? I wanted to go to the HTC 10 forum and flash Sprint_WWE rom but i don't know if it will mess up my modem or radio. Any ideas?
I saw that the BadBoyz Modded Rom have Magisk Flash option. What about Stock rooted rom Badboyz posted? I dont see an option to flash Magisk zip onto it. Do I grab a Magisk file from Generic HTC 10 topjohnwu's forum and flash it with Badboyz sprint stock rooted rom? will it be compatible and do I need TWRP to do the steps above? thanks!
