Installing AW on a HP Veer - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got a Veer laying around doing nothing, but since its pretty small I was thinking about installing AW on it. There were a couple android builds for it an it ran wheel but the small screen made it a pain to use. The problem here is getting AW to work on it.

It has a snapdragon S2 MSM7230 and 512MB of RAM which is not that far from the Gwatch, maybe I could use a build from that one?. Problem could be the screen which is 320 x 400 pixels, while all the other AW watches have a 1:1 ratio with resolutions of 280x280 or 320x320.
I don't expect the qwerty keyboard to work but I would like the mic and speaker so I can write messages and stuff. I think it had NFC but I don't know if that and cameras are supported by AW yet.
Anyone got a Veer too? you can pick one for next to nothing.

I'd be interested on Android Wear on the HP Veer too!

I love my veer from the first sight and If there would be a whatsapp messenger, I would use it forever.
So please, let it happen!!!

http://forums.webosnation.com/hp-veer/328606-android-veer-rooted-play-store-etc.html
It appears work has been done to put Android on the Veer. Now, the real question is, how recent a build can we load? 4.4 full only asked for 512MB of RAM, apparently, so the possibility of running Wear is more than likely, given even now, most of the popular Wear watches still use 512 (with only the ones with a mobile radio asking for 768MB).
This is also noting some existing ROMs. There was Quattrimus CyanogenMod 9 which basically got ICS to work on a variety of low-end LG devices, with only 256MB of RAM. So if you can get a source of AW and just work with some of the drivers on the Veer, it should be possible to patch things up and get most everything working.
A few curiosities though...
Does AW require Bluetooth 4.0 LE? Would it be able to use the wi-fi for Cloud Sync? Would AW be able to run low energy enough for the Veer? Is the chipset efficient enough to do it?

Blackstone, here comes Firestone!

Hey fellas, considered getting an aussie Blackstone.then my evil side says checkout pdadb,up pops the Firestone 100!! says it will replace T8282.600mhz CPU w/1000 max overclock.10/09 release.crap, it isnt even spring!!! evil says 50 usd from wife to hidin spot.that aussie Black still looks good though!
i didn't even understand your post sorry.
As far as i can tell, the only major upgrade is the 8mp camera, other than that, the screen is downgraded. The processor is faster by about 80 Mhz but again, who cares. If they don't provide the drivers then it's wasted potential anyways.
Knowing the camera off the HD, i don't think anyone will care about the 8mp camera on the Firestone.
I have a HD and absolutely agree with Post # 2 above. Personally I will wait till WM 6.5 is out and I have seen actual user reviews and also compatibility of my existing programs with 6.5. By that time I am sure HTC would have come up with a model which I can call a real upgrade to the HD. Just my views
I'm really hoping for a Tegra successor to the Blackstone with the same screen size (I believe Blackstone hit the sweet spot, Toshiba TG01 is waaaay too big).
Before that arrives, I think I'm good with what I have.
The OP didn't make any sense.
But just FYI the Chip used is a SnapDragon clocked @ 600Mhz.
is this the firestone

It is a WiMaX handset... nothing special about it
Processor -- Qualcomm ESM7206A clocked at 528MHz
Memory -- 288MB of RAM, 256MB ROM, and 8GB of flash storage
Display -- 3.6-inch touchscreen display with 800 x 480 resolution
Cameras -- 5 megapixel main camera with secondary VGA-resolution camera for videoconferencing
Wireless:
WAN -- Tri-band (900/1800/1900MHz) GSM/GPRS/EDGE and Yota Mobile WiMAX (2.5 to 2.7GHz)
WLAN -- 802.11b/g
PAN -- Bluetooth 2.0
GPS
FM receiver
Other I/O:
3.5mm headphone jack
miniUSB port
Video output (connector unspecified, but likely uses special dongle attaching to USB port)
Dimensions -- 4.46 x 2.48 x 0.54 inches (113.5 x 63.1 x 13.9mm)
Weight, with battery -- (151g)
HTC are shipping out to many phones to close to each other with no great improvement between them all.
Personally I would wait till WM 6.5 is released, let some cook do his thing then flash it onto your Blackstone. Why waste money on a new phone which isn't any better than the one you have!
Think I'll wait a while until something really special is released, until then I'm gonna sit on the blackstone!

720p Video recording

hey guys, i was reading this and dont understand. is it possible to get 720p video recording with a driver update? take a look at this and look at the first two lines of the last paragraph:
http://pocketnow.com/thought/will-720p-hd-recording-make-it-to-htc-windows-mobile-2010
Now that would surely be a nice to have patch!
720p? They haven't even got the 240 to a decent quality yet and probably never will!

read this article again. slowly.
That first one on the link looks like little more than a HD2 with a keypad photoshopped on the bottom.

@pagnell - that is a real HTC phone. Due for release sometime in the first half of 2010.
As per GTRoberts' post above...
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/news5295.html
I'm well aware of that. Hence the use of the words 'looks like'.
If the bravo can do 720P recording then in theory so should the HD2. I doubt its a hardware issue, more of a software issue. Whether its a fault of windows mobile, or the camera software im not sure.
Ive certainly tried all manor of things to get 720P recording on the HD2, but nothing has worked yet.

I'm betting that it's a WM6.x thing and it won't be enabled until WM7. Qualcomm seems to have it working on WM7 :

Yes, Symbian phones are most often positioned as multimedia/consumer devices. Thus, the manufacturers put decent cameras into them (which also means thicker phones, e.g. the Satio is 17mm thick because you can't put that 12mpix camera + Xenon flash in a 11mm phone!). And they use all the multimedia features of the hardware.
WM devices are typically positioned as business devices. I'm sure they could develop the drivers to use the hardware, but they don't because they save costs on something that they consider unnecessary for a business device. WM itself should be able to use the hardware with the appropriate software.
The Snapdragon chipset should easily be able to play and record 720p video, but as long as we don't have the software, we can not use it.

Tbh, that's not bad! It's just a shame there's no mention of other details, like how much storage there is and if it does support SDHC-cards. One can also see what looks like S-Pen, but I do not know if it's just for the looks or if it is actually functional.
I know several people who could actually use this phone just fine.
I can't even imagine how much of a headache it would be going phone shopping in China. We should all have that problem.
the samesung fauxlaxy clnotned?
Samesung, Nukia, and Motorolo.
Salute China.

Edit: Upon closer inspection, the first picture in the link does NOT have an S-Pen. The third seems to show one. Either way... no thanks.
Also, the flash is different between the first picture and the third... If it's more like the third then I want that back-piece!
yes, but there are two different versions, one is 5.3 the other is 5.0

Would be cool but, can't find any for this size device. I had one for my prior phones...
Here is what I do for my various devices... I use the RAM mounting system. I have a couple of different length arms, and bases for truck, boat, golf cart, etc. I have cradles for my, Nexus 7, Garmin, and iPhone, but for my Nexus 4 I am using the new XGrip universal which I quite like (since getting it, it is the only cradle I use anymore).
If you use this system you can get a threaded 1 inch ball with standard (1/4-20) threads for a couple of bucks and screw it to any standard tripod.
Any update on this? i really wanted a simply (pretty cheap) mount that i could use with the groillapod tripod. don't wanna spend a lot of money since i would only be using it for golf practice every once in while. Thanks!
Does anyone know a way to go about making a cheap tripod for a N4? I have a photography project due in 2 days and I need to produce some good photospheres and panoramas..
I just need a way to keep this thing sturdy while retaining movement. Holding it in my hand just doesn't cut it anymore.

There's this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150967108817 but the axis of rotation is the centre of the phone, not the centre of the lens, might not produce seamless photospheres ...
Mount it upside down in one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002L4QCVE might not be so far off-centre

Hi
I like the look of the x grip.. I watched the youtube video linekd to and it looks great.
I know almost nothing about tripods.
The user "solutions et" mentions something about a one inch threaded ball. I have no idea what this is.. Where to get it?
What budget tripods can I get that will support the Xgrip?
Do I need to get 3 items.. The tripod, something in between, and an Xgrip?
I want to make sure they're all compatible and I don't know how.
Would appreciate any advice on that.
Thanks
You actually need 4 parts... the X-grip, a one inch ball with 1/4-20 thread to mount to the tripod's screw, an arm to interconnect the ball on the tripod to the ball on the X-grip, and of course a tripod.
Arms are available in lengths from 2.5 inches to about 5 inches. Check out gpscity.com for all of the various RAM mount parts.
