Hi, i have one piece galaxy tab and when i check it says:
Network lock = off
Network Subset lock = off
Sp Lock = off
Cp lock = off
Now when i insert sim card in device and make a call it says "not registered on network" please help, im completely a newbie in the world of galaxy tab.
the tab we are using doesnt have sim sooo
Does anyone have tab with sim card facility and answer my question?
I have a euro Tab with phone (and a sim) the first time i put the sim in, I also had to register at the network. I did it thru settings>wireless and network>mobile networks>network operator. Choose you operator. You can also look in the quick start manual that came with your device. I am a newbee myself, but this was very easy. Good luck.

My mobile networks option is greyed out, any ideas?
Have you checked your networkmodus? I dont know the word in English but netwerkmodus is the name on my dutch Tab. I can choose between gsm/WCDMA or auto. Both work in my case, try to shift between these settings. Perhaps that helps.

Have you registered your sim card with the carrier? You always have to register the sim with your carrier before you can use the gsm mode. You can do that thru the website of your carrier.

Straight Talk with Nexus 4

So have an AT&T SIM in my unlocked Nexus 4. I use all the default APN's and try to connect to the only mobile network available, "HOME" but it just tries to register on it forever without success. It doesn't work with the APN settings ST recommends on their web site. I haven't had a phone for a week and I could really use some help.
Thanks.

When you say "an AT&T SIM", do you mean an actual AT&T SIM card from AT&T, or a Straight Talk SIM card compatible with AT&T's network?
If it's the former, then you need to buy a new SIM card from Straight Talk that works on AT&T's network. Lucky for you, they just got back in stock.
If the latter, then I couldn't really help you. Make sure you are typing the correct APN in, try rebooting the phone, try dialing *#*#INFO#*#* and messing with the preferred network type under phone settings, make sure your SIM is fully activated and capable of bringing down data/voice/sms. That's really all I got.
It's a ST SIM compatible with AT&T's network.

JooshPole,
Are you using an old sim from a different straighttalk phone? If that is the case then you would probably need to use the old apn settings, if not then let me know and I'll try and help you out.

Verizon Note 3 is factory sim unlocked...does this mean no region lock?

The Verizon Note 3 is factory sim unlocked, I was able to put in a straight talk/tmo sim in and get calls, and use data after editing the APN. So does this mean that it is not region locked? I didn't see any sticker on the outside of my box mentioning region lock, but I bought it in store, so they might have removed it.
Its unlocked. I just tried my prepaid T-Mobile Sim card and after putting the correct APN setting I got G.
I can confirm that I switched the sim from my note 2 from att to my Verizon note 3 and it could make phone calls. But I wasn't able to get data. I tried to switch the app settings but that didn't work for me.

No. I'm not rooted. But the only downside is that there will always be a notification saying that a non Verizon Sim is inserted.

Where's the APN setting on the GN3v. I looked around in Setting but couldn't locate it.

The ones I used were the regular T-Mobile one. I don't have them memorized but a simple Google search will pull them up.
Sorry, I'm just looking for the settings area to make the change to. Like "mobile network/..."

[Q] Mobile Net Work Not Available

Pls help, i bought me verizon samsung galaxy note 3 from a guy on craigslist with a bad IMEI number.
i understand that with a bad IMEI number i cant use verizon services but i can use GSM ones. also verizon samsung galaxy note 3 comes factory unlocked so i should be able to use T-Mobile, but i cant. i went to mobile network and change the preferred net work to GSM/UMTS but i kêep getting Mobile Network Not Available.
PLS help.
I know that providers share information on bad imei and then they block it, essentially not allowing it to connect to a service provider. But It may be different on an unlocked phone. Either way try to change your APN settings to what ever provider you want to use.
Good luck.

[Q] Using Verizon Galaxy Note 3 International

Can someone Please help me figure out why I cannot get service on my Verizon Galaxy Note 3 when I'm traveling or specifically in India. I thought Verizon Note 3 is world unlocked out of the box!!! Am I wrong?
BACKGROUND:
I have successfully flashed my Verizon Note 3 to Boost Mobile so that means I used a Samsung Galaxy Prevail as my donor phone which means I changed the MEID # of my Note3. I have also successfully rooted the phone and have also installed Beanstown106 leaked version of KK 4.4.2 on the Phone with the latest Safestrap and it works fine as far as I can tell. I used the instructions from the following thread to flash my phone to Boost; just FYI:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060085
QUESTION:
I try to insert the GSM SIM card for Vodafone carrier and it's unable to connect to network even though I added the correct APN settings. So does this have anything to do with me changing the MEID# on my Note 3, is this why it's not connecting to a network?
I kept getting the error message that "This SIM card is from an unknown source" So I disable the setup wizard 1.0 using nobloat app and it got rid of that message. I'm still unable to connect to a network?
Can someone please tell me what I need to do to fix it or can tell me what the problem is?
Or if there's anyone that has used the Verizon Note 3 overseas successfully that can tell me what I'm doing wrong?
purchase a local SIM from Airtel with a 1GB 3G package and 200 minutes of talktime for about 700 rupees ($10 or so)!!
When adding the new SIM you will see message "Non-Verizon SIM detected" but apart from that voice should work just great. Go into the APN settings the + now active and add in the new APN settings for Airtel. After you do this the internet will start working and you will be able to get H/H+ speeds there.
So yes, Verizon 4G LTE phones are truly unlocked for oversees use and you can just pop in a foreign SIM and go no worries...

Yes it may very well have to do with a IMEI change. I didnt think it was possible to change the imei.

So why would the Airtel SIM work and Vodafone will not? I don't get it they are both GSM carriers so why would one work and other one wont? Even though I fixed the APN settings for the Vodafone SIM.

My mistake, I meant I changed the MEID# not the IMEI.
But apparently you can change the IMEI# of the device as well, allegedly according to the following thread. I never done it myself.

That could easily cause you issues if your carrier can't understand the identification information your phone is providing the tower.
To be safe keep a log of what you have changed that way if it is worse you can know how to go back or what you have played with otherwise as with myself once time passes I completely forget all the details.
