[Q] How to use Google now launcher on CM11? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone able to use Google now launcher on CM11? I'm getting a clear defaults notification, but there aren't any defaults set.

What procedure did you follow? I installed it from the play store, and the notification appears. I'm talking about the Defy+ on CM11.
This is what the notification says - "Trebuchet is currently your default launcher. To try the Google Now Launcher, clear defaults in settings and press the home button". Only problem is that no default is set, so there is no way to try the launcher.

Even I installed from play store on Defy+ on CM11...
After installing, I pressed home button and selected it as default launcher...
Also u can change the default launcher under Settings>Personalisation>Home

i installed the application twice. and one time also faced such problem. i realized the reason in the order of installation "google now" and "google search". first must be installed "google search", and then "google now."

This might now the pure solution but I installed Google now launcher along with Google search app and i enable Google now features on Trebuchet Cynogenmod default launcher
Just click option button on the home screen that pop out setting for launcher (Trebuchet) enable this two option
1 Search Bar Set to ON
2 Search Panel Set to Google Now

Go to 'Apps- Trebuchet Launcher' and clear its default. Install Google now launcher and Google app from play store. Then on pressing the home button, the system will ask you to choose a new launcher. I did this in CM 13.

[Q] Lockscreen rotation fully working?

Has anybody got lockscreen fully working? I'm using wanam mod to enable rotation. but sometimes when it rotates back to portrait, phone crashes and reboots. Also in landscape mode the screen only shows half of the wallpaper, the right half of the screen is black. I remember there was a fix for this problem back in note 1/note 2 days, but I just can't find it anymore. Any suggestion?

Alright, I solved the problem by installing gravitybox and set lockscreen wallpaper from there. and yes, before anyone asks, gravity box works for note 3.

I did a few things before everything worked.
1. Disable unlock effects in system settings.
2. Set wallpaper for both home and lock screen using system settings.
3. Disable any mod that allows multiple widgets on lockscreen and use the option in system settings only.
Try these first and see whether they work for you.

I had a module causing conflict. I disabled "samsung multiple widgets" module and everything was working fine.

[GUIDE] Launching the Multi-Control Panel with a single gesture WITHOUT Root!

For HTC One with firmware 4.2.2 or above, there is a very handy multi-control panel with can allow users enable and disable many features like Wifi, Data, Auto-rotation etc.

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
However, the stupid Google UI design has made it very slow and complicated to launch the panel with 2 fingers simultaneously or swipe the notification bar down first and press the button to launch Control Panel.
Finally, I figured out a way to launch the Multi-control Panel instantly using one finer
It does NOT require root.
Here are the steps:
1. Download two apps at Google Play: "Nova Launcher" and "Swiping Home Button"
(The second app is a paid app, so you know it...)
2. Launch "Swiping Home Button and click "Binding"
3. You can customize your gesture here and personally I prefer to launch Control Panel by swiping up right (the one with Chinese word)
4. Click on the gesture you like and assign a shortcut to it. We are going to choose "App shortcut" here.
5. Choose "Nova Launcher"
6. Finally, choose "Extended Quick Settings"
You are DONE ! Enjoy the Multi-Control Panel instantly with one finger !

Hey Mate,
Does it mean that Nova Launcher has to be running at the background all times?
I really not sure. But I don't recognize any negative effect in terms of the phone's performance caused by this trick.

Yes. Also, Nova Launcher has gestures as well so I don't get the use of this.

Well, if you use this, then you can still use the Sense Launcher!

[Q] Press home button shows choose default screen touch wiz

Surprisingly enough I could not find this issue when using the search function. (maybe it is my search capabilities )
Just started using my S5 last week. Now when I touch the home button I get the message to use touchwiz-start.
When I press always (picture says "altijd") it looks like it does not safe this default.

It works for an hour or so, and then it is reset so I get this message again when I press the home button.
Searching for this it looks like a lot of people have this issue, but I do not see a working resolution.

Give this a try
Settings > Applications > Application Manager scroll across the screen to All, then scroll down to Touchwiz, you will see Touchwiz Home Easy and Touchwiz Home, check in both apps and if the options are not grayed out tap clear Cache and Clear Defaults, don’t clear Data as that will wipe home screen shortcuts and set up.
Press the back button to get to your Settings > Application screen and tap Default Applications then tap Home and Select Touchwiz Home, once selected press the back button twice to get to the Settings > Application screen then press and hold the Power button and select Restart.
If its cleared all the default data and reset it then your phone should boot into the default Touchwiz home screen, this should work, if it doesn’t then you have an app or something that is causing it so look at what you have updated or installed recently.

Well actually this triggered me to analyse some recent updates I did, and then I saw one app where somebody reported that it was trying to install itself as a touchwizz app. I deinstalled it et voila, problem solved.
I notified the creator of the app that the recent update he delivered is causing this problem.
So thanks for your input, it triggered me to look a bit deeper into the installed apps and solve this problem.

Want to delete Google Now and add pane to left of Home Screen.

Hi, I've read the manual but haven't found what I needed.
I'm trying to delete the Google Now screen that's left of the Home screen and then add something else. I can disable Google Now in APPS and get rid of the Google Now pane, but I can't seem to delete it. Without deleting Google Now I can't add my own pane to the left of the Home screen.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
I'm pretty sure that is a feature of the Xperia Launcher that comes with the phone. If you want your home screen to behave differently I'd recommend getting a different launcher from the play store. I personally use Nova Launcher, but there are tons of good ones out there.
UPDATE: Check post after mine for answer.

Then you'll need to downgrade your xperia launcher to one without that feature. Apk mirror under Sony mobile communications they have all Sony's stock apps listed

You can turn the Google now pane off by long pressing on the home screen, then settings bottom right, then turn the relevant slider off. (You can't do it via the regular settings, only the settings that you get to from long pressing the home screen!)
