[ROM BACKUP] [US/VirginMobile] - Desire 816 General

Hello guys I have been struggling for a couple days after my phone was soft bricked and I was searching for a nandroid backup of the US version Virgin mobile backup. I have finally found one, thanks to a friend whos name I really dont know...
If you have time to Read through my whole post then go ahead otherwise I will post the backup link below...
So it it all started when I got my HTC Desire 816 from virgin mobile, and the day I got it I was so impressed by the phone... snappy processor and excellent display as well as the speakers.. I then went on rooting the device and installed a custom recovery CWM, and started experimenting from there. What came around and bit me in the butt is the fact that I have been using an iPhone (5s 64GB) for Virgin Mobile and completely forgot about the whole android backup/restore system that was designed in the custom recovery... I have gone back and forth between apple and android devices but i have always found myself back using android and my experience with it has been remarkable.. I have bricked many devices before but not once have I ever bricked and one of my devices ( Galaxy S2, Galaxy s3, Volt, ) to a point where it became a expensive paperweight. In other words every bricked device I had i found a solution to unbrick it. This was the case with the HTC desire 816 as well. My original intent was to get the Galaxy s5 from Virgin Mobile but the same day I found out that Virgin Mobile released a new phone the HTC desire 816 and for half the price of the s5. I know it was destiny and the same day I bought the htc desire 816. I bragged to my friends that this is a new phone that just came into the us and only Virgin mobile has this phone. The negative part to having a phone that was just released into US are the fact that there are no accessories for this phone in any stores in the US, and everything needs to be bought online, and the second part is that no online forums have yet to talk about the US version of this phone.
I am now beggining to get to the part of my adventure with the HTC Desire 816. If you have read everything so far, i can only say that this will be over soon.,,, lol So after rooting the HTC desire 816, I looked through many forums looking for information about tweaks and apps for this phone. Since i have been using an iphone ffor the last couple months I forgot all the tweaks and apps I used to use for my previous androids, and because of this i also forgot to create a nandroid backup of my device. This is when I came into trouble when i was removing bloatware from my device installed by virgin mobile, and I installed Titanium backup and I started freezing (Disabling) apps that i though i wouldnt need and that would cause my device to run slower. So here I am sitting at work messing around with my phone and deleting system apps. I ran into this app called HTC Blinkfeed and I thought that this app was like the others and just caused my device to run slower. Little that i knew that this following action would cause a snowball affect and screw me over. So right after I disabled HTC Blinkfeed I tried to go to my home page but i was greeted with a simple black screen. At this point my whole life would have been made easier if I just went back into the setiings and unfroze the app. But no i then restarted my phone and I was stuck on the HTC boot logo screen... I was so scared thinking that i bricked my device after only a week... I tried to enter recovery mode several times but I failed to, and the reason was that fastboot was on and the only way to turn off fastboot was to disable that in the settings... At that point I knew that my phone was bricked and I am screwed... thank goodness that htc has a built in feature where that if the bootloader is tampered with and the usb cable is connected to a computer then it automatically goes into recovery mode. At that point I started to looking through threads about HTC Blinkfeed being disabled and what should i do next. After no success in the HTC Desire 816 forum I went onto looking to the HTC one m8 (Sprint) forum because i knew that these phone are closely alike. No success there either and I started thinking of other alrternatives... I though that if i found a flashable zip of htc blinkfeed that flashing that through recovery would fix this problem. But unfortunately it did not. I was very disappointing about this phone, and the only help i could find was about indian and chinese versions of this phone. I contacted HTC and asked them if they had a backup or RUU for this phone and VM version but no luck there. I then found a nandroid backup of this device... but it was a thailand version and i decided that I might as well of just install that and use it as a tablet with wifi.... That worked well and the phone was restored and working... but now i had no service and running in a foreign language. I started looking and messaging members who posted on xda about having problems with the hTC desire 816 VM variant. I couldnt find any help there and I went to anther forum in search for help. I searched through youtube videos and messages members there asking for their help... not a single person responded and I was stuck using a fancy wifi tablet phone. then I started searching for this phone on Craigslist hoping that someone was selling this phone in my local area hoping that it was rooted and that they could help me out. I only found 1 post of this phone in craigslist for virgin mobile and he lived about 200-300 miles away. I started text messaging him asking about the phone and he said that it was not rooted.... I knew that my luck ran out and that was my last straw and I should wait untill this phone came out of sprint and then i would surely find a backup. I started texting this person and it came out that he is also well versed in the art of the root... lol he knew about rooting and recovery and ruus... I started asking him if he could create a backup of the device and after a very long conversation he said that he would give it a shot. I thought that this was a typical excuse to get me off him. So i deicded to keep on searching for other ways to fix this issue. I found a post of the RUU for europe and thought that I could install it and maybe this version would work. I then talked to some staff on a different forum and they told me that I should not under any circumstances install a ruu for a different version of this device and that it could fry my phone. I then thought that perhaps running a Thailand backup would fry my sim card and then i was left hopeless of every having this phone workingt again.
Then I receive a message from my CL friend saying that he rooted the device and he is creating a backup... that was the best news i have heard and i knew that this could revive my phone. The worst thing about it was that my friend had 100 kb/s upload speed and the backup was 2GB.... It took several hours and his computer froze... So i had to wait another couple hours after that before his backup was uploaded.
I am proud to say that my faith in humanity is restored and I have a working HTC Desire 816! I dont know this persons name but I am very happy that there are people on this planet that would go out of there way to help another person. I have learned alot through this experience and I hope that this backup of the US version will help you too! Link will be posted below.

I am so glad that you found someone to help you. I got the same phone from Virgin Mobile. Let us help each other.

Glad you guys have the VM version too. I had made a backup when I first rooted, but deleted it on accident, I still have a backup and my phones working, but I'm still downloading this to have a safe stock backup. Thanks for the upload!

I have yet to try it but as far as I know, this is what we have right now.

I don't think this comes directly from a VM variant but I know the CWM posted there worked for our phones. The stock recovery is probably the same for all 816's.
Again, this is just an assumption so please take it as it is.

Is it working with a5dug?

any other download mirrors for nandroid backup?
Just wondering if there's another site to get this nandroid backup. Every time I try to grab it, google tells me there have been too many downloads and I need to come back. Only when I do, I just get the same message again. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

larysius, Try again. I just tried the link in the first post and it worked fine.

Link Down?
Sorry folks is the link down or just temporarily locked due high traffic? I've been unable to download the NandroidBackup for the past 3 days?
Edit: Scratch that......tried the link 4 times in a row and it failed. On the 5th time it allowed me to download. Seems to be fickle?

Ill re-upload it and get back with a new link

When trying to download it, webpage just died and i refreshed it then it downloaded, the original nandroid backup was not on my google drive, i just re uploaded it to my Google drive ad i will update the link

I can't thank you enough for the stock restore. I had no working Wi-Fi until I got this up and running.

[HELP] IMEI is missing after flashing rom

Hi All,
After flashing new ROM, my first time, the device couldn't connect to the network due to missing IMEI.
I don't know how and why it was deleted.
I have tryied to revert back to the Stock ROM and the same.
I have no support from my service provider because the device is hacked...
Any solutions?
same case happened to me
hi there, just the same thing happened to me when I newly bought samsung galaxy S2, I did many trials to find a solution and a lot of internet research but I could not find any, and a lot of new flashes.
At the end, I re- installed again a stock ROM and went to the service shop where it is still under guaranty, the guys there did not know how to fix it back although they have contacted the VENDER (samsung firm), and at the end they replace it with BRAND New one, I was lucky.
However, when you get a new one, you have to back up a directory called "efs" using root explorer application (have to buy it from market),while u must be rooted, they folder includes the imei data needed, and if you have it already back it up some time back, try to restore it and may be you will have your imei back, (i could not dare to try this after i got the replacement).
My cousin had this problem when he flashed lite'ning rom 6.1 on his new galaxy s 2. I flashed it back to stock XXKH3 and imei and baseband returned. Tried flashing back to 6.1 and again went off so back to stock and everything working fine.
Try restore IMEI technqiues (part of my reserches atthat time):

Using the root explorer method I'm not sure you will be able to restore the IMEI if you corrupt the /efs folder. Have a look at this!
Dude, read the f**king rules!

If your /efs directory got erased due to a flash.. Short answer: Without a backup you cannot restore it. A support request from samsung maybe, but unlikely due to the modified nature of the device.

If only. It's funny how people lose their efs folder then come complaining and researching afterwards. All they have to do is simply back it up.
Return the phone to samsung under warranty and hope for the best OP.

for me, after installing Lite... Rom 6.1, i miss my IMEI, but after installing first rom(with three files!) of middle east, its back to me!!!
Lost IMEI
Are you sure the IMEI is realy lost? sometimes when the modem ****s up or compatibility issues.
I think maybe you should download only the modem which corasponds to the rom you are using, ie, use KH3 modem if KH3 ROM etc.
Give that a try my friend...dont forget to read the instructions in the other threads about the use of odin, I know this is not the appropriate place for this thread but there is no need to be agresive towards people who are learning the ropes
indeed try to flash back to stock rom and then root Backup your efs folder then try flashing a rom again.
i got this also that my Imei was gone flashed back to stock and it was back again.
Someone knows how to reproduce this?
I already have an efs backup but want to try to get a new sgs2 (yellow tint prob).
Cheers
Same here, have had Litening Rom 6.1 (for a couple of months already) and IMEI gone since this morning. The phone can't find the network anymore. It also has problems booting up sometimes. In some cases I need to pull the battery and boot it 5 times in a row before it boots past the first screen.
I guess I need to downgrade as well. (Or upgrade to the latest Litening version, but I'll first downgrade to the original firmware.)
on newer phones they have made it harder to fff up your imei the efs directory no longer exists and the data is saved in a private partition instead..
that is the way it is on my wifes galaxy s gio that i just setup..
just info for thought.

Pink screen - doesnt show any drive on PC

Hi!
I got my phone from service as a result of being bricked. Now its fixed and besides poor assembly, my phone works.
When I press Power+Vol up+Vol down, the pink screen shows, but on PC, there is no drive, from which I could switch recovery.img and install custom ROM.
The phone has now stock 2.3.5. Any solutions for this matter, because I am now stuck at the stock Huawei ROM.
Thank you!
I think it is because they installed 2.3.5 final and it has locked bootloader, so you dont have acess to files. My suggestion would be to downgrade to 2.2, then upgrade to 2.3 beta 2, it works for me without problem and bootloader is unlocked. Or maybe someone knows easier way to do it?
I totaly forgot about that option! I will try it ASAP. Thank you!
BTW, you work at TUSMOBIL (provider)? The guys at TUSMOBIL are great, I cannot say the same as the guys at TELERAY (service) did not assembled my phone right, the panel above the volume up, isnt attached well and it sticks out. I am really mad, I was so careful, bought the silicone case, protective screen cover, really cared for my phone and now it looks like I dropped it, defective.
edit: Can I ask you to upload the froyo(or post link), you used for reverting? If you have u8800 and not samsung i5500, ofcourse.
I found another way to do it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415352 . Maybe it will be easier. And no I dont work with Tusmobil. I dont have link to froyo as I found it here on forum and did not remember where, sorry.
Thank you!

Hey, that is my solution. You will buy me a beer. I will be Ljubljana in May.
But I am a muslim, i don't drink beer.
No problem I will buy beer or coffe to both of you! Send me a PM, when you arrive.
And so that you know, I am now able to flash custom ROMs again. One problem persists with my backups, youtube crashes everytime after selecting a video. I am currently in a process of reflashing it with the newest CM7, and then again for safety measures. So far, the ROM does not recognize the battery and SIM card. The phone works with battery, but it shows a question mark (?) where the percentage should be. Neither it asks me for a PIN, flight mode doesnt do anything.
edit:
No worryies tho, I tried your method and I didnt want to bother with root, so I installed stock B138 and CWM, restored my backup, which didnt work quite well.

How did you went back from 2.3 to 2.2?
And about the problems: The .35 kernel ROMs only work when you have official 2.3.5 instlled and then flash them from there, otherwise they perform like you described. You can use oxygen, older MIUI and older CM7 if you dont want to upgrade to official 2.3. And did you rooted 2.2 before restoring/flashing or did you just changed the recovery.img?
btw I am from Slovenia too so you can buy me a beer (just kidding I am under age anyway...)
Hey!
Nice to already see two from Slovenia!
If you want and if you are from Ljubljana, I can pick you up, go for a coffe and debate this then, I have an appointment with a doctor within an hour, cause I am sick for the two weeks. Or if you do not want;
I Googled (I mean really Googled) for B138 stock ROM, uploaded it to my SD card and flashed it, then replaced recovery.img, uploaded my titanium backups and restored. Looked perfect, only the youtube app was crashing, as it is now on the official 2.3.5 ROM, I am really dissapointed. Phone was off to repairs for a whole week and now it is not functioning properly. And to top it out, the guys at the Teleray really screwed my case, so the plastic sticks out.
edit:
I installed the xda app, so hopefully I'll see new posts faster.
Second edit:
I can't drink and drive so coffee would be good
You just flashed B138 over the official 2.3.5? Thats funny because I bricked mine by doing this... but the great guys at teleray fixed it under warranty (they were great for me ). On tuesday at 14:00 I bringed them my phone and just said that I was doing an update and in the middle it said "update failed" and from then it didnt power on. Next day (wednesday) at 11:00 I already got an SMS that they fixed (changed motherboard) it and is now waiting for me so it was less than a day for a service.
So actually it is quicker if you carry the phone to teleray and not to tusmobil? It took 8 days for me and 24h for you
Sent from my U8800 using XDA App
yep It takes them 0,5 hour to change a motherboard (thats how its written on a service paper). The rest of time phone was probably just waiting to be shipped back to tusmobil office...
Nevermind
Sent from my U8800 using XDA App
Thanks, but I am not from Ljubljana... I am from Domžale (cca.20km away) And I have school and all that stuff so I probably wouldnt even have time...
P.S. Dont you think this is going a bit off-topic

[Q] I9505 Rooted & Unlocked - Boot Loop

Hey,
I just got my galaxy. Rooted it yesterday to delete bloatware.
I tried being really careful with what I delete but I must have delete something essential, my phone won't go past the samsung logo.
I'm actually really freaked out. I rooted using Odin but didn't quite get to anything else.
I tried battery pull, didn't work. Same as for wiping data in recovery mode. Don't know if it means something but when I tried wiping cache, it gave me a little dead android pic and restarted.
Right now I'm waiting for a stock firmware to download (BTW, I9505 isn't officially sold in my country, so I downloaded a UK version. I hope that's alright).
After it downloads I'll try to flash it using a guide from XDA.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
I could really use your help...
Thank you!
Edit:
Flashed it. Turns out I downloaded a German version (What my phone originally came with).
I just want to ask - Is there anything wrong or worse with being with this firmware? What are the differences between UK and German firmwares for an unlocked device?
Thank you

Okay thank you very much!
Is there anything different I should do next time? (Besides let the bloatware live)
I read about rooting with recovery (CWM?). Can someone please explain a bit about it (How to do it and why isn't it the regular root)?
Btw, I saw that there are a few other rooting tools besides Odin. How are they different?
And what's BusyBox? I'm really sorry about all the noob questions. Every guide I find keeps referring to other terms that I don't understand
Thank you!

1st time flash ROM - What a blast!

Hello all;
I thought I would share my root/flash ROM experience with others, not necessarily those who are pros, more folks like me, technically literate but this process is new.
I picked up my One the first day it was available, I had it pre-ordered from [email protected] and have been a long time iPhone user. I was tired of waiting for the jb and once I saw the specs on the One I was sold.
I was fine with Apex launcher and Widget locker for quite awhile, but then the mod bug started. I followed qbking77's vid's to perform the unlock and root. I made sure to backup everything with Helium and I also did a copy of my Android drive to my Mac just to make sure I had everything. I used Helium to Google Drive and that worked very well. I had to make sure to load Google Drive after the wipe and log into it before I was able to restore my data.
So I sat at root for awhile, but it was a matter of time until I flashed my 1st ROM, SinLessROM GE v3.6.2. After reading everything on here I could find, I decided on the SinLess Rom. I always say, never start something technical late, but I did not heed my own advice. I used Titanium to do my backup, along with Helium again. Then the moment of truth, TWRP and wipe. I go to install in recovery and find the zip and bam, error number 1!!! Well it turns out I had Safari on expand after download and did not have the .zip. I get a little freaked out. I turned on the phone and it started working through the normal HTC One load (remember that), I finally am able to move the correct .zip to the phone. Then I install it, it works!! Yeah! The phone starts up but just sits and sits at the google screen. I then realize I started the phone after I did the wipe and did not re-wipe it. So, I re-wipe it, re-install and Sweet!!! It works like a charm!!! I had to get the new SuperSU for root, then I was able to install Xposed.
Used both Titanium and Helium to download what I needed, and its been rolling great all day and I'm loving it.
I do have 1 question, when the new version of the ROM comes out, I don't have to wipe the phone again do I? I would think I can do a dirty install.
So, hopefully if your on the fence, you will take the jump. Backup, backup and backup!
Have fun!
If it's a small update, or the same ROM, you tend not to have to wipe again (e.g. you can just flash over the top)
But if you're going to a different rom, or a major version change, then it's recommended to wipe typically.
Personally, I like to wipe between updates just as an opportunity to get rid of loads of stuff I've installed but not used

Thanks for the response!
So how do you manage all your apps and data if you wipe between updates? When I wiped my data and all, I lost all my apps and data that goes with them. While I was able to being everything back, it took a few hours. Am I missing an easy way to restore? The update seems like a small update, its a 3.6.1 to 3.6.2 update.

Welcome to the community!
Titanium Backup (TB) is invaluable at the point that you are at. It is well worth the price for the license on the Play Store. With TB you can backup apps, and the associated data. Just be warned though, if you ever decide to go to another ROM, you can not use the backups from the previous ROM.
Basically, going from X-ROM 1.2 to X-ROM 1.3 is fine, but if you try to restore backups from X-ROM to A-ROM, you will run into major headaches.
Hope this helps!
Hello Liskrig thanks for your hello. I read so many good things about titanium backup I bought it a while ago. It helped me when I rooted my phone. Thanks for the good advice
I went ahead and wiped the cache and then the devlic (sp) cache and then did the install. It worked with no issue and seems fine.

Now I finally find this invaluable info after all the flashing I have tried and it finally makes since. I have recently tried a few ARHD Roms and they come out so fast, I was never sure if I need to fullwipe, backup and restore or what. It's nice not to have to re-download everything.
Thanks for the heads up.
Welcome to the addiction! You'll find yourself scouring the XDA forums for rom updates and kernels in a very obsessive manner soon enough!
I do dirty flashes all the time if the changes are minor like 4.1.1 to 4.1.2...but from 4.1 to 4.3 i did a clean install
Too late...the bug has hit me back when I got the first Samsung vibrant. Now I'm looking for a killer Rom to beat the ARHD...it's stable but not the fastest. And I love the stock items...blink feed and sense makes me happy.

Hello dahmmy;
If your question is for me regarding what guide I used to unlock and root, just search qbking77 and root htc one. I did update SuperSU to the newest version but really followed that guide to the letter. I made one concession, I used a Win7 machine instead of my Mac.
I do have a question for you all flash masters, so do I need s-off in order to update my kernels when available? I kind of get lost understanding; when the official 4.3 HTC rom comes out and its incorporated into the ROM I have loaded, when that ROM is updated, will it also upgrade my radio and all? I still have the 1.44 HBOOT so understand I can s-off. Thanks for any feedback and I will keep reading.

Hi
You don't need to s-off to load a new kernel. If you update your device with an official RUU or a zip containing a Hboot, radio or framework then those partitions will be updated. You can only make that uograde if your CID is accepted by the update (or you ar supercid and s-off). If you on the other hand flash a custom ROM the above mentioned partitions are in I think all cases removed from the ZIP.
It's hard to advice you to s-off or not, but I did it while I hade the opportunity so I could supercid the device and reset the tampered flag.

I advise to s-off now if you have a comfortable feel with adb and cmd prompt. Its pretty straightforward, and the chances of a fatal error is extremely thin. While others will say warranty doesn't really check for unlocked and tampered stays flags, I like to be able to make it look 100% stock in case I have to send it in.
Other pros are ability to upgrade and downgrade ruus, hboots and firmwares without a hitch. You'll pretty much always have root and some other customizations are possible through an s-off device.
But as always, if you don't feel comfortable with it, the HTC one can pretty much do any average modding without s-off so its not 100% necessary.
Anyone need help with anything I'm always down through pm and I've given my phone number on a couple occasions. Happy modding

Great and appreciated feedback. I did try using revone to s-off, I was using the terminal on the phone method and consistently get error = 1. I'm running hboot 1.44, but have the SinLess ROM running, I think thats the issue, I researched and it looks like cause its the GE and not Sense. I'm not sure I want to drop back and reload the stock, then reload SinLess, its so sweet I have it perfectly setup for me.
You know I have to say thanks to everyone who has read and especially commented, being this is a more technical forum then most others, I read a lot of threads that are tough on noobs like me. I've been an IT developer for the last 35 years (yeach I feel old), I was an iPhone person for years and would always jb to get my phone useful to me. When I saw the One, I was sold and never looked back. I think I've read most of the posts about the One and rooting, etc. But, still have questions of course. So I thank you all again for your feedback and great advice. Starting to feel a bit more comfortable in here.
If I can help anyone else looking to root I would happy to, just PM me. I'm so not an expert, but sometimes you just need another set of eyes to see when you don't.

I love Titanium backup. It's saved my butt more then a few times! Same with cerberus!
Hey all, thought I would provide an update about s-off and post ROM flash. I tried a few times with revone to get s-off but no dice. After doing my research it seems due to the rom I have it won't work. I have a GE based rom. So I would say if you go through the root process you might as well do the s-off process before you flash the ROM.

I too am coming from 6 years of iOS usage and was a die-hard Cydia users to add tweaks and themes.
But the android rooting scene is too Geeky for me. lots of places to go wrong. have been going through a ton of tutorials lately. But scared of rooting simply because i will lose my Warranty. HTC is not quite a reliable brand as i have come to know..especially with One and the famous camera tint issue. (i got a replacement for the same issue). So a bit scared.
So is there anyway we can root and keep it all stock. I mean even if unroot and lock the bootloader, it will show Relocked instead of Locked. Will the service centre people let it pass. I am dying to install ViperOne Rom for the amazing customisation it allows.

We share similar history, I always liked the openness of Android, but I never found a device that was as well built as an iPhone until the One. I was tempted with the nexus 4, but not sold.
I fortunately did not have any issues with my One, sorry you did
Not please remember I'm not an expert, but I understand you can go all the way back to stock, if you s-off.
Research revone. Or moonshine tools to s-off. As long as you do a nandroid backup you can always go back to how you were. Grab titanium backup and backup all your data and take your time. But you can root and leave it 100% stock and just take advantage of root only goodies.
I'm sold on Sinless GE 4.3 ROM, it's fantastic and the dev who maintains it is great. So go unlock and root it, backup backup and backup. Good luck and have fun

Hey jack more than build quality i liked the way OS is optimised for the hardware. Anyway leaving iOS out of the moment.
But i dont think you can get the Bootloader to have "locked" written again. It will still come as "Re-locked" which is a giveaway i believe. Anyway i have my exams and i will be caught up with them till November. So after that maybe i will join the Flashing-wagon.

Note 2 - 4.3 Update coming soon:

Well instead of me writing, here is the link:

I hope someone can leak out the final built for the n7105 section... I live in Australia, if America is getting it in a couple of weeks it means I'm getting it in a couple of years so we would appreciate the leak once it's released.

im the same live in brissy been trying the at&t version seanz rom everything works but dont have wifi due to bootloader issues be sweet once that is sorted the rom is butter smooth but no wifi is the killer as vodafone data sucks nuts on 4g where i am
This is the update schedule for American carriers. Does that mean that unlocked phones will get it sooner? I hope so. I only just bought the note 2 (Best decision ever) and would love it to be running on 4.3 ASAP.

I live in Brizzy too and I'll second or third that if its the only way we can get it? Sorry for the possibly stupid question, but is it true that if you have rooted and installed a custom rom, then you won't get the push update from your carrier anyway?... so.... the only way to get 4.3 on my (and I assume your rooted phone) is via custom rom download?

or if you go back to stock.
have issues with the ota updater as soon as i root my device. The moment i do that i get the message that my device has been changed and i cannot use the updater then. if i flash stock withouth root i don't have this issue.
reckon its best to make a backup of your apps with TB or any similar program when the official update is available, then flash back stock (no root) and update, afterwards simply restore your normal (non-system) apps and your ready
I'm in Aus too, but the official story (courtesy of Telstra) is that there won't be any updates as of JB 4.1.2, unless there's sufficient backlash ...

To answer you and the gentleman above... Australia will probably be the last country on earth to get the update as usual. So we might have to reside to getting it of some kind developer who uploads it here somewhere.
If you do wish to get updates you should go back to stock firmware (probably the first backup you made for your telstra 4.1.2) doesn't matter if it's rooted. Connect your phone to the PC and have KIES installed. Click update firmware and update (done, it will automatically unroot your phone and put back the stock recovery). You can easily update after that.
If anyone finds any android 4.3 working please update us here as soon as you can with a link to the page. If I find a working ROM for the official android 4.3 TW ROM I'll post it here too.
I don't think Aussie tel companies will well I don't have high hopes when it comes to Samsung I've always had HTC and Samsung and it's always the same get f all. I'm using 4.3.1 carbon I use GMD spen features for spen control and gestures don't use stock Sammy apps anyway.. just the 4.3 would be good because it's smooth as

Well now...I've been holding off playing with rooting my phone (as I'm new to 'droid and have an awful lot to learn, but have come a LONG way in 2 weeks) as I was expecting Telstra to release an update. Since that appears NOT to be forthcoming, Ill consider the various root options, none of which are particularly appealing at the moment mainly as it seems no-one has a stock ROM for this phone online and I can't backup mine without root. Catch 22 it seems. Information on locked bootloaders, Telstra ROM mods, rooting the 7105 "T" version is VERY limited
So...if anyone happens to have a link for a ROM copy please let me know.
(Or info on a rooting technique that works)
Ultimately every one on xda will be using the custom 4.3 rom for the note 3 goodies because Samsung will not be releasing those features in it's official release

Okay I will explain what I done for you...
When I first rooted my Galaxy Note 2 in May, I was a new-comer to android, I had an iPhone for a long time. What I done was root my phone, I Odin installed TWRP after rooting because I really don't like CWM (those are the names of the 'recoveries' available), they will replace the default Samsung recovery. Just make sure you get TWRP. I think it's up to TWRP 2.6.3
Well yeah let's get back to the topic, as soon as I rooted I used TWRP to make a backup of my default Telstra ROM (completely with EFS, MODEM, basically tick everything you can possibly backup).
I took that backup and put it on my laptop and on my PC and I kept a copy on my external card the whole time. That was the best idea, any time I ever had any problems with my phone I went back to that backup. I even soft bricked my phone once and after hours of panicking I realised I can just Re-install the default backup, and it fixed my phone.
Oh and I just recently un-rooted my phone to check for updates. All I done was use SuperSU to do an UNROOT. Then went into recover, restored the original backup I made of the Telstra ROM. Plugged my phone into the PC, and used Samsung KIES to check for firmware update. It just restarted my phone, removed TWRP recovery, re-installed the samsung one, and it removed the root completely and I'm basically went back to my original telstra ROM. I can go into settings and check for updates and everything. (I can confirm there is no update as of yet).
AS for your other QUESTION.
ALL THE ROMS in the N7105 Section will WORK with your N7105T Model. It's the same thing. JUST WATCH OUT and make sure you never install N7100 ROMS (They will soft-brick and could hard-brick your phone).
Thanks for the input.
I've been considering between 3, namely CF AutoRoot, Galaxy Note Toolkit And (exploit based) Framaroot, with a bias towards Toolkit so far ( as it specifies the 7105 "T" variant).
But if you've actually ODINed a GT-7105T (Telstra) with CWP without issues, I'll certainly consider that.
Any one else care to chime in on this (if you've done the same phone/telco only though !)
I've come far enough to understand rooting, boot processes, CWM/TWRP, exploits AND the importance of picking the exact model !
I'll take the plunge when I get enough input to decide.

It's not that hard really, you can't really mess it up if you follow the instructions... Hey root it whichever way you see fit, whatever you think is easier for you, don't listen to me. But I do highly recommend you get TWRP for backing up and formatting and installing your ROMS. Also I recommend PAC-MAN it's a good ROM, but it's not very stable at the moment (kind of).

Don't take offense at my asking for multiple inputs. I just don't want to brick at $600 phone needlessly
I've now sourced a ROM from Sammobile and downloaded it last night.
I'm backing up settings and stuff tonight and will run with Galaxy Note 2 Toolkit tomorrow (I went PRO) and go for option 3 - THE LOT !
Hopefully it'll all go ok.
