New and think I messed up my alliance rom - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, lurker here and new to rooting and custom roms.
I was having problems with my alliance rom and ended up going into safestrap recovery and had read that if I reset to factory it wold fix my problem.
Sooo my phone turns back on and I'm missing all of my root/rom mods and most of my applications return a Google play store errors. I've fixed a couple by getting into my data/data folders.
I previously installed alliance rom on my note 3 and all was working well until I did the stated above. Now when I restart it loads alliance rom but I have no control on the theme or controls on the mod. (Alliance rom crashes when options for it are clicked)
So I guess what is my question is, how can I just restart and start fresh? Because it seems I have bits and pieces of the rom but not others. I can boot into recovery with safestrap but I don't have a cess to a desktop for about a week. So this would have to be done on my phone only.
Thanks

Stock Everything

What I want to do is install a stock non rooted rom, kernel, and recovery. I am not sure how to change recovery to stock either is it like flashing a rom? Please give me some links for these I can't seem to find them, besides the stock kernel I found that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------The reason I want the above is bellow, if it matters.-----------------------------------------------------
My phone is about 95% broken.
Before, every rom/kernel combination would randomly restart, it was my phone it self I believe.
I went to a stock rooted rom, but then it restarted, and my lock screen worked, yet my home screen was black all i could do was slide my status bar down.
After that i restarted my self and then it got stock forever on the screen where it says Samsung galaxy s4.
The 5% working part is my recovery, for the most part.
I keep having to do a full wipe, not just system wipe otherwise it says error unable to mount preload or i/o or a few other things, I have to system wipe before every rom attempt.
I tried several popular roms such as sacs and triforce and a few other roms and all the kernels also.
The phone will turn on, work for a little normally, then crash again and go into the infinite loading screen where is simply says galaxy s4.
This phone is only 3 months old, so I want to take it back to sprint being completely stock so they give me a new phone.
I need links to files I need, and if i am forgetting to change anything back to stock please let me know. Thank you.
I replied to you in the newbie thread, but to return to complete stock download the latest firmware from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and install it with odin. Do a factory reset before and after install to make sure you have cleared out what ever is causing your problems. After this process you will be completely stock and unrooted. If you are still having problems after this it is probably hardware related.

Slimbean 4.2.2 Build - media issues

Hi all,
I recently installed the newest build of Slimbean. I am having a few issues: I am unable to play any media... Music, videos (youtube). My phone app does not work. I cannot receive nor send any calls. And my phone produces no sounds at all.
I tried installing build 7 to see if it was an issue with the build I was using... didn't help.
Internet and wifi work without any problems.
Galaxy S4 i337m
Baseband: I337MUMUAMDL
Version: Slim-4.2.2.build.7-OFFICIAL
Build #: slim_jfltecan-userdebug 4.2.2 JDQ39E eng.blk_jack.20130706.15730 test-keys
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Update: Any ROM I install... Phone and sounds do not work.

I'd Odin back to stock and see if you still have the issue. If you do it's a hardware issue.

I did just that... But it's a bit of a story.
I had just fixed another problem I was having yesterday. Was getting stuck at the S4 splash screen right after powering on the phone. The problem was caused by TWRP 2.6 and formatting /data partition. Long story short, I installed CWM and used it to do a full wipe/format of partitions and then was able to install ROMs, restore backups without issue.
So today, since everything was working, I decided to flash a new custom ROM (which I installed) and the MG1 radio. Wasn't having any luck with the radio. Finally, I was able to flash a radio via mobile odin, but then I soft bricked my phone. Got stuck at the S4 splash screen (same issue I had yesterday, but this time, a different cause). So was troubleshooting it all day. Tried to go back to stock, no luck. Tried to restore the stock backup I had, no luck. Only thing I could do was install custom ROMs at this point to get into my phone (i.e. Slimbean, FoxHound, etc...). But, at this point, although I could boot into Android, I had no sound at all and couldn't play video. So after hours of trial and error, I installed CWM again (replacing TWRP 2.5.0.2), did a full wipe/format and tried to install a stock ROM. No luck. Still was hanging at the S4 splash screen. Then I tried to install this ROM again which I had luck with in the past; |ROM| |★VLUAMG1★| |CANADIAN||i337M||STOCK||ROOTED||July.26.13|. But his instructions said to install a wifi fix or fear soft bricking my phone. So I installed the wifi fix, but selected the wrong file (I know, stupid. Done a lot of stupid **** in the past couple days with this phone). Now, after the phone rebooted, I would see the S4 splash screen for a split second, and it would auto load into download (odin) mode. Couldn't get into recovery at all. So then I decided to flash one of the stock ROMs I tried earlier that didn't work, but this time, SUCCESS!!!!! Phone was booting and all sounds worked. I could make/receive phone calls as well... Everything seems to be working fine now. I find it funny that flashing a wifi fix that I shouldn't have seems to have fixed my issue in a sense. Since it allowed me to successfully flash a stock ROM. So I am making a backup of the stock ROM and will decide what I'm going to do from here.
Holy goalie!!! It's been a very vexing couple of days.
Nice that you got it all worked out, I've found out that if your "status" is custom, it will sometimes give you problems when flashing a "stock" rom via odin.
So what I always do when reverting back to the stock rom, I use triangle away to clear the flash count and make my phone back to "Official". If you want the steps to do this, let me know, it's not hard, but there are crucial steps to get this right!

[Q] From stock to CM - Old folders still there

Hi there. First of all let me say my experience with custom ROM is all about the Galaxy S i9000.
After switching the official ROMs on my Find 5, which can be done just with the zip and no rooting, I decided to install the latest CM Nightly.
Here's what I did, in order:
- installed Framaroot and used the Gandalf method -> success, got SU and rooting
- installed the "Recovery Tools - Flash" or something like that from the Play Store
- installed CWM from the app, which is the latest touch version
- connected the Find 5 to my pc and put the CM and Gapps zips in the root folder
- rebooted to recovery, wiped Dalvik and factory reset then installed CM then Gapps zip
- wiped dalvik + factory reset again
- turned on the phone
Now, the ROM works BUT here's my problem: every folder created by the applications while I had color ROM, and the apps themselves, are still there! I still have the pictures, the 2-3 apps I left on the phone and everything else.
So my question is:
HOW DO YOU CLEAN EVERYTHING ON THE PHONE TO START COMPLETELY FROM SCRATCH while installing a new ROM?
I'm a fan of fresh installations, I don't even use backup software since I keep few core apps on my phone.
Back on the Galaxy S I just connected it, phisically deleted every single folder on the phone from the pc and put the CM + Gapps zips on it cause the S i9000 recreated the basic folders on itself.
I didn't do a wipe sdcard from the CWM because I red somewhere that on the Find 5 it deletes core system components to so you'll have to unstuck your phone loading the base recovery and an Oppo firmware from your computer...the fact is this way I don't have a fresh installation.
So what, and when, should I do to clean EVERYTHING like I did with my Galaxy S to be sure when I first boot a new ROM I only have the very basic folders Android and the ROM needs to be loaded?
I'll have a work meeting tomorrow so I didn't try the sdcard wipe to avoid staying without a working phone but I installed the very core apps only here so if I need to re-flash everything or wipe something I'm ok with that, I already backed up manually the old contents of the ColorROM(pictures and stuff) so I have nothing but the basics and WhatsApp on the phone right now.
No one? I know it may take a while but I'm kinda stalling to get my phone back to work completely cause I'll probably have to wipe something again to delete everything :/

[Q] Systemui keeps crashing on custom roms

Need some expert assistance. The problem is my phone keeps crashing with systemui errors when using custom roms. It always happens after a reboot and usually within 1-3 days, depends on WHEN I reboot the phone. Let me give you a little backstory.
A little over a month ago, I was running AICP on my phone, but decided to try SimpleAOSP and Hells doctor.. So I created a backup in TWRP, then flashed SimpleAOSP and HD. The next day day I started getting the errors. At the time, I thought it was the kernel or a Titanium Backup glitch.
So I wiped and reflashed SimpleAOSP without HD and without restoring from TB. But the next day, systemui failed to start. I thought it might be a rom issue so I restored AICP from my TWRP backup. And I couldn't believe it when the same systemui errors happened. So I restored the backup again. Again it was okay for a few days, then error.
After that I copied everything from my phone to the PC and wiped internal storage. Then installed the same rom version from AICP that I had been using for weeks prior to all this. Same error after a few days.
So next I tried wiping internal storage again and flashing stock 4.4.4. I used that for over a week with no system errors. So I did a TWRP backup of Google stock rom, Then installed AICP again but this time without modifying any systemui type settings, I left the rom as stock as it could come. Didn't even restore apps or anything. I then the rebooted the phone a couple of times to test and the error came back. This was the same day I installed it.
So I restored the stock backup and have been running fine all week. I want to get back on a custom rom though. Any suggestions?
Am I getting no replies because I'm missing something really obvious?
Or can no one think of anything that I haven't already tried?
By the way, right after posting the OP I installed the L preview and it's been working fine so far. I figured if I had to run stock android it may as well be the latest thing.

I don't have any answer to your question but I was wondering if this happens without installing a custom kernel on CM11 and AOSP custom ROMs.
Thanks for replying.
When I tried SimpleAOSP, it was with and then without an additional kernel. I saw no difference as far as the error is concerned. I have not tried a CM11 based ROM since this all started.
Maybe I should try a custom rom that doesn't have heavy modifications like AICP has.

Are you flashing a Gapps package? A couple weeks ago when I was trying different ROMs I was getting system crashes after flashing PA Gapps and they updated. I never narrowed it down, but after uninstalling a bunch of them (News/Weather, Talkback, Keep, Newsstand, some others) so they wouldn't update, I stopped getting system crashes.
Idk why I have the feeling your theme/icon pack has something to do with it. I run pa and whenever I try to use click ui icon pack it happens to me but if I just run veu I don't have a problem. Try not using themes for a bit to see what happens
Sorry, I missed your responses, I had kinda given up on the whole thing. Android L is running good for an unfinished product.
Getting back to the original issue, no theme or icon pack was installed.
Yes, I was using PA gapps mini from 9-23. Maybe that was it.
But that would be weird because I don't remember my first ROM running PA gapps, not 100% sure... that was a month ago.
I'll try to install without any gapps package and report back. Thanks.

from my past history, I'm facing issues when I did 3 things :
1. if I just dirty flash or factory reset only before flashing new rom.
2. Did restore backup from TB (which from your explanation above, you don't have any problem TB)
Nowdays I always use wipe dalvik, system, data, cache. Because someone once told me if you changing roms, if not it's possible that the system setting from old rom will crash with the new ones. and for the wipe system part (some roms included that command in their roms zip file and some didn't).

Black screen and "System UI has stopped working" error with XCover 2

So, I'm a total noob with the android phones. Just bought my Xcover 2 after using my old C7 for 3-years. I got curious about the rooting and decided to go on with it. Installed CWM just fine and rooted the phone successfully. Then I decided to try flashing the S4 Accuweather widget right away (I didn't like the stock one at all and I had a trend plus for few weeks which had the S4 widget).
That didn't go so well... I got the "System UI has stopped working error" popping up all the time. Decided to go back to recovery and try another S4 widget install. Didn't work either. Then I decided that doing a "data wipe" would be a good idea. But nope instead I get the same "System UI has stopped working" and a black screen with no apps and no way to access the apps. I was really idiotic to not make backup of my current ROM state before starting to install anything. I just thought that "it's just one small app".
Now I'm currently downloading the stock ROM from Samsung Updates and trying to flash it through Odin. Will that restore my phone back the the original state or am I just simply ******? Gosh, I wish I had never done the rooting, I was fine with the original....
Hi
Yes, Flashing the proper stock firmware should get you back in business.
Some tips going forward...
Don't install or flash anything not made for your exact device, unless you find confirmation that it will work. You could have many issues, including bricking your device.
And, a factory reset won't fix system issues, it will only wipe your cache and data partitions. So system changes, like what you attempted will not be fixed.
And other issues or questions for your device can be asked here,

Good luck!
