Wifi not turning on i9505 after flashing custom rom - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, after I flashed a custom rom my phone went into a bootloop. I decided to flash stock , via odin. After I flashed the stock rom for my region (open european) I got many FC messages , the phone was unusable.
I started digging and flashing roms. Now I have i9505xxugng8 which is a nordic country rom.
When I try to open wifi , the button gets green for one second but then it stays deactivated.
1. Tried to remove battery
2.Tried to delete the wpa_supplicant.conf file from /data/misc/wifi or /system/etc/wifi
3.Tried the non-hos bin.
Nothing worked. I'm desperate.

Try this steps
1. Rooted ! Open root explorer > System > Build.prop change this in the build.prop:
ro.securestorage.support=true TO ro.securestorage.support=false Save , Reboot
2. Either flash a diff kernel.
Have a nice day.

Hello repulsa, i Tried your method but it didn't work
It may be a hardware problem? But I've never dropped it

Tried hard reset?

Yes I tried.
Problem solved , I flshed a cm11 based rom with a custom kernel and everything works

I think you should fully wipe in the custom recovery before flashing the stock rom with Odin.

i might try this however.. im having trouble with the bluetooth and not on the wifi toggle/module. are you using the M9 build or the nightlies?

The Wi-Fi problem is knox related , I don t think switching go cm11 would solve the Bluetooth problem.
Now I'm using the latest version of miui and works well.

I also have this problem. Went from CM11 to stock (GF was supposed to use the phone and preferred stock...).
And now, no wifi, tried most things, checked build.prop, deleted wpa_supplicant, pulled battery, cleared cache.
Nothing works.
I'd be ok with going back to CM11, but the S-View cover won't work with it.
Any more ideas?

I don't think this is your problem, but just to put this out there in case other people stumble upon the thread....
This can be caused by using a custom kernel in a CM11 based ROM that was built after about August 3rd (give or take a few days)
CM changed the way the Wifi and data are managed by the kernel. So older customer kernels aren't compatible.

Solved my issue...
Booted to recovery, wiped data and cache, booted straight to Download mode, flashed stock rom, booted straight to recovery, wiped data and cache again, booted, profit.

1) Flash Wifi fix/NON-HLOS from this post. See here how to flash a modem.
2) Solved those FC / Bootloops problem flashing that KT-SGS4 Kernel.

[Q] Wifi broken, can't seem to fix it

Hiya,
Using the international i9505 LTE, I tried flashing faux's kernel today, and everything appeared to be working. I also then flashed the xposed framework/some modules. Afterwards, I realised my wifi wasn't working anymore, and disabling the xposed framework didn't help. I also tried flashing the ausdim kernel which didn't work, as well as flashing my modem file, and the apparent wifi fix files multiple times, none of which solved the problem.
I have a nandroid backup, but would rather not restore it atm as it was made a while ago and I don't want to restore all the apps and stuff, so does anyone have any idea how to go about solving this problem?

Basically yesterday I had the same problem, flash after flash didn't help. Can tell you exactly, what I did:
Found factory version of my firmware in my region (SEB Baltics for me, MGA). Then I reinstalled TWRP recovery through ODIN, wiped everything I could, after that flashed stock firmware 2 times consecutively (no reboot in odin, reboot manually after first flash and flash again).
After that everything went fine, and Wi-Fi started working again. MH1 custom ROM right now, going ok.
Googling seems to suggest having to reflash stuff multiple times (I've seen someone say they flashed their stock rom 11 times wtf), and there doesn't seem to be any set procedure that gets the flash to work... Did you also flash multiple times before this last run worked? Perhaps you just got lucky and it worked the last time? (I assume no one tries to bork their wifi and test if their last routine works again for them).
I'm asking mainly because I don't want to go through the hassle of reflashing the entire rom again; would it be correct to say that wifi is just contained in the modem/radio file, and I should try spam flashing that?
No. WiFi drivers are in the kernel, not the modem. If you were going to flash anything, you'd flash a kernel/rom.

I suggest you use titanium backup to bakup your apps, it's not a tough job as you thought. that might be the easiest way, although some data can't be backup.

Welp, bluetooth had no problems whatsoever. It was only the wifi, which didn't want to turn on. Now everything is ok.
Well, finally got around to reflashing stock as Gh0stR1pp3r suggested, which worked. Thanks
Nandroid, kernel flashing, and modem flashing all didn't work. No clue why. I flashed the ausdim kernel again and it worked this time around, so it's just weird I guess? :S
And unfortunately I seem to have messed up the titanium backup somehow, I can't seem to find any of the stuff I thought I backed up Oh well

I9505 No Sound, Cant Make Calls Or Receive

Hi.
I have a problem with my device.
Recently i try-d to flash miui v5 from:
miuiandroid_jfltexx_jb-3.9.13.zip md5sum: 7c097742b0f84b1ea5ab39acd5b56dc3
After i made wipe data, syste, preload flash failed, so i made another one and it succeeded.
After reboot i saw only greenish android logo which went nowhere.
So i tried third time with philz recovery and it booted up.
And then there was no sound at all.
Then i wiped data and flashed back stock firmware:
I9505XXUAMDM
After that no sound, no wifi and no calling.
Well then i tried older firmware-s.
And now i just tried latest cm10.2 21.09.2013
Well wifi started to work again, but no sound.
Tried calling, but app just freezes and i cant heare anything.
I am just wondering that how wifi just started working again?
Maybe sound and calling can be fixed somehow similar way.
Kristjan
Pls help, i have same problem, tried several rom not ok, when make call then phone freezes.

somehow i managed to get emergency download before boot up.
intructions said to start up kies and start recovery from there.
well did that, entered model and s/n and it flashed newest firmware and now its fully working again
got same problem yesterday after updating to latest omega... no sound at all, tried doing restore, tried again full wipe, tried changing kernels, after that tried different roms - no success, sound is lost somehow.
problem was resolved only after flashing through Odin 3.09 NEE firmware I9505XXUBMGA_I9505OXXBMG3_I9505XXUBMGA_HOME.
Omega rom killed my sounds!

I will try one last time to install Omega v12 before I revert to stock that you mentioned....very disapointed...S4 is such a buggy crap bag
Still love omega rom and everyones effort tho...
OK sound is back after flashing thru odin 3.04 - I9505XXUDMH8_I9505OXXDMHA_I9505XXUDMH8_HOME.tar.....but I am now going to try flashing omega v12 with cwm recovery instead of twrp and see if that makes any diff or just breaks again!
OK!!!! I flashed via odin - CWM recovery 6.0.3.2 and then flashed the omega v12 zip without wiping in CWM but allowing aroma to do the work for me. And I HAVE SOUND and CALLS and no crashes thus far...Hope this helps anyone out there.

[Q] [AOSP] Broken telephone feature

Guys, everytime I flashed an AOSP based Rom like Carbon on my hltexx, nobody can call me and I also can't call someone else. If I dial a number, the connection seems to break instantly but my mom told me, she got my calls but didn't hear anything. I'm also unable to change or view the access points.
Stock based Roms like Omega work correctly.
WTF am I doing wrong? :crying:
Additional Infos:

>3G because my provider (Drei, Austria) is retarded.
>Android 4.4.2
>restoring an old EFS backup didn't solve the problem

Yes, I updated from 4.3 to 4.4.2 via odin and used the stock images for my provider. Everything worked as it should, only aosp roms had problems.
A few days ago I installed PAC again after flashing the newest stock .tar.md5 and tried the whole evening many different configurations in apn and other connection related settings. Nothing worked and i restored them all. On the next day I got a call. I couldn't explain it, but i was able to start phone calls too. With just one problem: When I call someone I lose the control over the whole Touchscreen and the buttons, so the only way to end a conversation is a hard reset via holding the power button.
I'm not sure, but I have the theory that the RIL file isn't compatible to the modem. Where can I find some RILs?
Another strange fact is, that everytime I flashed an AOSP, i formated the device via TWRP to erase all the bloatware and then made a full wipe. But last week I forgot to format the storage. Guys, was I really everytime this stupid and simply wiped the RIL partition away?
Model number?
Firmware you have upgraded to (4.4.2)?
Tried changing recovery, Wipe System, wipe cache, data, then flash the ROM fresh. boot into it, head to Settings > about and check if you have lost Baseband and/or Serial Number/IMEI - then we'll figure it out for you

Sorry for answering so late. Changing every password after heartbleed took much time.
My model number is SM-9005
Even with a CWM based recovery and after a wipe with a complete reinstall I get the same problem.
IMEI and Baseband (N9005XXUENB1) are still here.

Marshmallow ROMs freeze and crash = Hardware Problem?

Hello everyone!
I have been experiencing a strange issue with almost all the Marshmallow ROMs currently in the development section. The Phone boots, Setup Wizard runs, and in between, the screen freezes/hangs and after 5-10 seconds the phone reboots. Again the setup wizard runs and even if i'm able to complete the wizard, the phone frequently hangs and then reboots.
I had been running Paranoid Android 5.1 ROM before flashing the Marshmallow ROM and this strange issue suddenly started. I have tried to flash stock rom and then flash twrp, then flash the ROM, even wiped everything several times. Still the same issue persists. This is really getting annoying as i have tried 3-4 different ROMs and 2 GApps and still the screen freezes and then phone reboots.
And this happens only on Marshmallow ROMs as i again have currently installed Chroma 5.1.1 ROM and its running smoothly. I am beginning to think of it to be a hardware issue. Can anyone help me solve this?

I have done factory reset several times. Even flashed stock via fastboot multiple times. Done the exact same steps you mentioned. Its not only with Frank ROM actually, i tried another Marshmallow ROM and the same thing happened again.
How is it that Lollipop ROMs are running smooth and Marshmallow ROMs are crashing?

seems like it's Gapps/ ROM problem (with setup wizard)
this my only suggestions:
1. try to flash Frank's M without Gapps > reboot normaly
if this worked, then it's related to Gapps issue...
if it still remains, then
2. Flash ROM, Gapps, wipe, etc.
after that back to home of TWRP > Mount > Mount system > back > Advanced > File manager > go to /system/priv-app
search for folder name related to Setup wizard/ Google setup wizard (NOT GooglePartnerSetup) > delete it > reboot
3. fingercrossed it will bring you to home screen without any problem...
good luck then :fingers-crossed:

Thanks i'll try this out when i get back home. Although i did try flashing just the ROM to see if GApps were causing the issue. Without GApps, the phone booted to the homescreen, but then after 5-10 mins would reboot itself. I don't know may be it has got something to do with temperature? Because i've noticed that the phone becomes very hot when it first boots up on a new ROM(i know its normal for it to get hot). But when i used the phone on a Marshmallow ROM when the phone was NOT hot, it went on pretty well for 20-30 mins and then again rebooted.

Here's another update. I tried the new Chroma Marshmallow ROM and it too had the same issue. The phone hangs/freezes randomly and then reboots. After trying so many ROMs, i think the issue is with hardware itself. None other has reported this issue, nor could i find it anywhere else. I guess i can say that my(and only my) nexus 4 is not compatible with Marshmallow officially and unofficially.
I don't know what kernel Frank's uses but you could always try to flash an alternate kernel. I haven't taken the jump to Marshmallow yet, but it seems TaUrUs and hellsCore support M (I currently use hellsCore with stock L).

Probably lacked boot the system before you install GApps.

The FC of Setup Wizard is discussed in the ROM thread of Chroma.
You can try this because it is advised by the Dev of Chroma and supported by many others and I have succeeded with this.
Flash stock L and boot up.
Boot into TWRP (make sure you have the latest) and factory reset.
Flash Chroma 1/11/2015 and Bank's Gapps without boot/reboot in between and no wipe afterwards.
Reboot.

At least for Chroma, that is a wrong approach. No boot between ROM and Gapps flash.
Make sure you have permissions granted to all of the apps. I had similar issues, and had to do with Location and apps making calls to GPS. Would cause a reboot, and not just a force close. Try amending the Location settings as well. All else fails, capture a logcat.
Everyone thanks for your time!
I found the solution. bjb2's suggestion did the trick. I flashed TaUrUs-Mallow Kernel after Frank Marshmallow ROM and everything seems fine now. Have been running Marshmallow since a day without any issues. Still it's curious why the stock kernel gave such errors.
Thanks everyone again for your suggestions and help
