Add languages into a 4.4.2 custom rom - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I'm from the g pro forum and I have some questions to the dev's from g2.
Well, I need to find where are the languages/config files from a European rom and how to implement that languages in a US custom rom with the objective to give the user's from all places having her native language available in the rom.
I already searched for all places and I can't identify that files or configs, because the g2 have the same base I'm remember asking here for help.
Thanks in advance

the phone languages are in the framework-res.apk located in system/framework; basically all the values folders are a language folder and you can add more languages to this by placing the new values folder with the abbreviation of language and the arrays/bools/plurals/strings.xml files and after recompiling going to system settings languages and there will be a new one there; pretty straight forward and if you want any assistance I would be glad to help

just to update on this a little late but here we go, the Portuguese values folder name is values-pl and the other folder is values-pl-rPL
the second framework you shared did not have the Portuguese values in it (the one which ended in vupmp)
so here are the modified frameworks which should include Portuguese language; let me know how it goes :fingers-crossed:

Hi @XxZombiePikachu
Can you add pt-PT on cloudyg3 1.3? I already request in in two cloudy threats but don't got any answer.
Sorry to bore you again this but the rom only have Portuguese from Brazil, it's similar but some things are very different and annoying for me.
Thank in advance
Edit: I will upload the framework-res.apk from D802 latter cause at the moment have some issue in my internet connection or xda servers.

sorry for late reply today has been a really busy day, here is zipped framework(not flashable) with Portuguese although I am not sure if it is also Brazilian based or just Portuguese; I can get you the files and you can actually translate the stuff to your liking but it can take a long time since there are many words that would need to be translated

Seems to be Portuguese of Portugal! Thanks a lot!

[A]Greek in stockwells ideos x5 MIUI ROM

My greek friend i have a twick for you to have greek in your rom the idea came when i was rerading the full post of stockwell and understood the first line of his post "Based on the Desire-Z MIUI.us release available. So i understood that desire z miui rom are compatible with ours. i went to MIUI's official forum and downloaded the greek pack for desire z. I copied all files except build.prop to the same folders .and after i edited my old build.prop in line that says"ro.product.locale.language=en
ro.product.locale.region=US" into ro.product.locale.language=el
ro.product.locale.region=GR" after that i reboot into recovery and flashed my dalvick-cash and everythink was done greek exsept miui search bar
i hope i was understood and someone make this into upgradable zip
ps.1compass and fm radio apk's doesnt work so you dont have to copie them but you can give them a try if you are developers.
ps2 thank you finn for your great work in transelation!!!!!!
ps3 i cannot post the the links sorry but it is easy google search
ok downloaded miuiGR_desirez_1.10.28
extracted app and framework to system.. changed the devices build.prop to el and GR ...
wiped dalvick cache..
and nothing it does not seems to work for me :/
maybe you forgot to mention a step for us ?
does it have greek on setting/system/language?if not try to install morelocales2 from market but that was not needed to me
ps i copied with android commander on the fly not from recovery
ps2 i also wiped cache not factory but i thought it was erelevant
yes there is greek in language settings...and is checked but no greek language in any menus.. also i get weird Force close after these copies.. i dont know maybe someting was not copied correctly
i did the copy with Root explorer.. will try the app you suggested and report back
thanks for the info
I would suggest copying the apps/framework from the Greek release into the original u8800 miui.us update.zip instead of trying to copy it on the fly as it causes issues (normally you'll lose your accounts and contacts).
You'll need to modify framework-res.apk for wifi and usb tethering to work though.
thank you stockwell for your precious information and your rom i will try your suggest on next rom update and if i manage it i will upload a greek rom if you dont have a problem ofcourse.

you do exactly the same steps i folowed for greek but in build.prop you change US to IT and en to it
all the steps made on the fly(this as stockwell metioned will erace your contacts, but i asume you you have them gmailed back up)
for the update language pack you have to follow stockwells way and change the same things in his rom. but i cannot give you now more info because it is my first device and i didnt give it a try yet after the new release maybe i try it.

[ROM][Desire HD/Inspire 4g] Xperia Kitkat

Hello to all DHD/I4G users,
I've been constantly looking for developer who can make changes to Aroma Installer from chinese to english one but so far non of them has replied me back.
So if anyone has a desire to make changes on this build...Please go on. I've found this ROM from chinese desire hd website so all credit goes to the that chinese dev(SARONI).
Feel free to make changes and re-upload to Desire HD Android Development section.
Pros:More than 1000s of download has been made since it made(4/4/14)
Cons:Chinese Aroma Installer
I hope some of chinese dev. or who knows how to make changes in order to make it english aroma installer. It looks like easy task for them, but not for me!
Thanks.

MIUI ROM has no menu button,It's like iOS style icon arrangement on MIUI. whereas Sony Xperia Series has it's own style of launcher.

As long as i know i've seen many custom made chinese roms for desire hd in all they uses their own custom made kernel.,so probably their made. I've no idea. until someone guides me to pass through aroma installer then only i can possibly answer your question.

You might want to take the link down, then. You can't post ROMs without kernel sources On XDA. Kernels are licensed under the GPL, requiring source to be distributed when the compiled code is distributed.

Add Multilanguage Support to a Stock Rom?

Hello Folkz,
i'm already reading in this community for months. Now i want to contribute.
I address my concern mainly to @STEVE_MARS and his Mates from TeamSpain!
How do you add Multilanguage Support to your Custom Roms. Is it via a App Like Morelocale2 or is there any other tool which helps easily translate the strings?
Please reply soon i want to contribute something
Thx in advance.

Hi,
You must insert strings in framework wih Jbart or similar tool, better under Linux. Decompile apk, insert and compile again. And same with systemUI and settings. And after that, check every menu if works properly.

There is multilanguage "packages", but in Setting options you must translate manually every menu. This is the reason that we have a OTA for spanish advanced translation.
