Haykuro 6.0r1 Network icons

Does anyone know what the new icons mean?
I am now getting H and R, even though in the same place I used to get a 3G connection.
H is fine I can do everything, but when I am on R I get no internet.

H is HSPDA and R is roaming i believe. HSPDA is the 7mbps speed, so its equivilant to wifi speeds assuming you have an 8+mb line.
I've only encountered those speeds once when I was at the Atlanta airport waiting for my connection to Florida.
Thats what I was thinking.
So I should assume that HSDPA is my 3G connection.
I should have thought of that roaming.
In Aus with telstra I should be hitting 7mbps no probs in the cities with Telstra. Strange about roaming though I have never needed to roam before on anyphone before this update.

If you have no data connection while roaming go into your Setting>Wireless Controls >Mobile Networks then enable Data Roaming ONLY if you dont get charged for it. In the US, T-Mobile doesn't charge for data roaming as long as you're inside the country.
wow this question has been answered millions of times, I guess you didnt use the search button!

Wow thanks for even remotely offering help to him. How about instead of being an ass about it you can offer some help and mention to search next time?
(SEARCH) top right 3rd to last, has white letters and a white arrow pointing down, has brown background surroundings and it is spelled S.e.a.r.c.h
Ok, then, now what's the million dollar question? CAN WE SWITCH THE H ICON TO 3G?
Where is it located?

Thanks guys but it did use both the search buttom and also manually reading through the last few pages of threads in all 4 sub forums.
So next time F** off, if you want to be like that.
itt was mentioned in the 4million page thread of haykuros previous builds. H means same as 3G in this case- HTC just use H instead of 3G. and yes sometimes the search fxn sux. maybe not a new thread for it but ask in the thread about the actual build.
to replace you need to open update with 7zip, replace the H icons with 3G icons from another build (H icons i think are in system-framework-htcresources.apk if i remember correctly- from old haykuro build- i dont have new one). make sure the 3G icons have same name as wht the H ones did. close update, resign zip and you are right to go and flash it.

Thanks for that mate, it ok I dont mind it being a H as long as I know it is running on the 3G connection.
Hummm... you can do that but you guys are forgetting something. The H build shows G (GPRS), E (EDGE), 3G (UMTS), and H (HSPDA/HSUPA) icons. You could just copy the icons from system/framework/com.htc.rescources.apk/res/drawable and replace the ones in system/framework/framework.res.apk/res/drawable but they would be inaccurate. It would display a H icon where you might actually have UMTS connection. I wish I knew what else should be replaced (probably an extra script or lib file would be also be needed to include all 4 icons from H build.

Network Icon

Hi guys,
Sorry this might be a stupid question, but here we goes.
This morning i found that there was no internet available on my lovely SuperHD2 Android ROM, and yet once i changed into WinMo i had almost full H signal and internet working fine... I noticed on this android build i cant see if i am only on GPRS, 3G or HSDPA ... am i missing something or is there a way i can force icons to always be there ?
Cheers

[Q] CM7 nightly HSPA icon no longer appears?

Hi all,
Would post this in the dev forum but don't have the post count as yet.
I've been running CM7 nightlies since #12 or so on my G2.
I noticed starting with nightly #21 that my signal icon is now always showing 3G when previously it was showing H. Status reports that mobile network type is UMTS. However, I'm showing consistent download speeds of 4-6 Mbps, so I'm assuming I am in reality enjoying HSPA+.
I tried wiping everything and installing the nightly from scratch to no avail. Has anyone seen similar behavior?
not really what you clould try is dailing *#*#4636#*#* - telephone information - dropdown list selecting wcdma only. And have a look if it changes to H
Technically, HSPA+ doesn't kick in until 7.2mbps+, but I get what you mean. I am currently on nightly 23, but I still have the H icon. Maybe it's something on the network side and not the ROM/phone.
Thanks for the WCDMA Only tip -- since 3G is still WCDMA, it didn't make a difference, as best as I can tell.
I ended up wiping and flashing back to RC2, where my H icon promptly returned. Interestingly, upload and download speeds are about the same as (actually a bit less than) what they were when the icon was stuck at 3G in nightly 23.
I'll wait a couple nightlies and try again and see if the issue recurs.
Thanks to both of you guys for your help!
Are you running the AUS radio or stock?
(Also, questions aren't meant for the dev forum =p)

I had the same issue when I started using CM7 nightlies. reflashing my radio fixed it for me, looks like rom flash got it for you, but if you run into the issue again in the future, you might give reflashing your radio (or a different radio if you want to experiment) a shot.
could have just been a glitch, it sounds to me like even though it says 3g you really are on HSDA

ACS 4G issues

Please help! I'm on ACS Frozen rom with ec05 modem and I love the rom but and my 4g signal keeps cutting off. Sometimes it says 4g disconnected at the notification bar and sometimes the 4g signal has 2 or 3 bars but i still cant connect to the internet. Other times just it goes idle even when I'm using the web. I have to toggle the 4g on and off and it starts working again for about 10 or 15 minutes. It doesnt matter how strong the signal is, I still drop connection. My 3g speeds have also dropped down to about .25 mbps DN (used to get about 1.3 mbps average). I am not sure what it is that's causing these issues. Bad modem (hardware)? issues with the rom?
I went back to stock ec05 for a few days and the issue was still there but happened less often. Is there something wrong with the phone itself? MysteryEmotionz if you are reading this and you can help I would greatly appreciate it. I use the web a lot on my epic an dropping connection every 10 minutes is really annoying. Can someone help please?
And happy 4th of july to all
Also running SRF, had minor problems with speeds, but not connectivity. I flashed EE03 and have had very good luck with it, including connections where I previously got no signal at all.
Also there is a thread here about changing settings on WiMax to allow connection to lower signals and less delay I'm reconnecting. You need the MSL, but that helped too.
Good luck with whatever you end up doing.
Please excuse any erors or typos as this massage was sent from my mobil device.

[Q] SM-G900F weak 3g signal

I have problems getting internet on my phone while i`m indoors. My network signal is full and yet i can`t open any pages. I can see the upload signal (the two arrows pointing up and down) but the download signal is gray most of the time. The settings are ok and i know that because the moment i get out on open space, i get internet and it works as it should.
I recently installed Phoenix rom and also Alliance rom hoping that it will solve the problem..but the problem is still there. Any thoughts?
Thank you
Bump !
Make sure the 3G signal is strong in your area?
