[Q] Tab 4 8 inch model SM-T330NU vs SM-T330NYKAXAR. - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After doing a bit of Googling earlier I am a tad confused. Every time I looked for the Tab 4 8 inch model number SM-T330NU most of the results only showed me pages for the SM-T330NYKAXAR model.
Is there any difference between the two? Is it only regional?

As far as I know KAXAR means color black. But also there some specific regions in each tab like mine says as XAR Region, ND I'm from the US.

Awful battery since 4.2.2 update

Hey guys.
Not sure if I'm posting in the right place but I've got to find out if it's just me!
Updated about 2 weeks ago to 4.2.2 via OTA and my battery life has dropped drastically.
The one thing I've always loved about the note series is the massive battery and the note 3 didn't disappoint until recently.
The phone used to last anything upto 20 hours with fair usage but since the update I get no longer than about 3-4 hours!
I'm not rooted and I've even performed a factory reset on my device and not installed any apps.
I've even turned cellular data off and left the phone in my pocket without even unlocking it yet still only 2 - 3 hours life.
Anyone else having the same issue or know of any solution?
I appreciate that downgrading back to 4.2.2 isn't possible but surely there must be something else I can do?
any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Note my screen shot of firmware version for you guys to compare.

Are you serious, from 20 hour to 3-4 hours? That is very strange. I am still on 4.3 but waiting for 4.4.2 for my region, what region version are you using?
Yeah can't believe it either. I've had to use a second phone just for work purposes.
I'm in the UK with an unlocked handset. Just received the update OTA.

Im having the very same problem. There are various posts on the net about it on various forums but there seems to be no definitive fix. Very Odd because it definately is affecting a large number of people - but here on xda - dev there dont seem to be too many?

[Q] Different variants

I live in Australia and there is a couple of different models being sold by different retailers here namely SM-G900X and SM-G900I. With all my previous Galaxy phones I used to flash them to Polish ROMs as they got firmware updates well in advance of Australia but the Polish ROM is SM-G900F. Is there any issue still doing this does anyone know? I cant even find a 900I ROM to reflash with if something goes wrong and I don't want to brick my phone the second day I have it.
Anyone have any idea? Also the Australian 900I version has its dock icons locked which is annoying.

im in the same boat as you maye so frustrating
There must be someone game enough to try this out. There all isn't a 900I ROM available anywhere.

Ok I gave up waiting for an answer and went and saw a friend in retail with stock and we tried it on his demo unit. You CAN NOT flash a 900F from onto a 900I it errors out before it begins saying the model is different.
Seems like we are stuck with the handicaps imposed on our model as Samsung has chosen to make regional models.

Same thing with the Aus S4. You can unlock the dock but you'd have to root the phone first.

The S4 I just flashed mine to a UK or Polish ROM and had no issues and got updates earlier.

[Q] How can I bypass Sprint activation on Samsung Galaxy 4 7" tab 3G/LTE?

I have a chance to get a Samsung Galaxy 4 7" 3G/LTE tab at a fantastic price, but I only need (for now, anyway) wifi connectivity. How can I bypass activation? I've read about the trick, but that is over 3 years old and I'm sure it won't work with this model. Anyone know? Thanks.

Note 4 910C 5.0.1 doesn't have the option to view screen on time

Hi Guys,
After updating my wife's note 4 to lollipop. I noticed in settings - power saving - where you get the battery usage stats. I dont get to see the screen on time. That option has completely disappeared. By the way this is stock samsung lollipop. My note 4 has screen on time option. But not hers. I hope you guys could shed some insight on this predicament of mine.
Please refer to attachment.
Thanks in advance
Scroll down, if you see the screen option, tap that and it'll show you SOT.

I did. I have been using Samsung devices for the past 5 years and I am well versed with it. Have flashed rooted installed custom ROMS etc. But like I said above we both have Note 4's and I have the option right at the top. But my wife's phone doesn't have it in the entire list. This is after using the phone to about 70%. Therefore it should ideally account for the balance 30% and show the screen on time. I am really bummed by this.
Sometimes it doesn't show for a while in my list.

If it also had a memory leak fix that would be awesome but somehow I doubt it since it's still 5.0.1
Its definitly 5.0.1 but it does have some fixes i can guarentee
What fixes have you noticed? It's not OTA and Kies isn't coming up with it. That's about all I know of it.

I think it takes less RAM.
I've been running it for 3 hours. Not much difference. Maybe a little snappier. Memory is about the same. My keyboard hadn't FC'd yet, so that's good. The only issue, and this may be a coincidence, is my SD card of 6 years either blew or is not recognized anymore. I'm traveling but will figure it out later.

You probably need a read write fix made for that new base!
Seems to be it. SD card works in a tablet.
EDIT : the card blew. An old card worked fine. 6 years for a PNY ain't too bad!

You can also use Samsung Smart Switch (The Kies replacement) to update your Note 4.
http://www.samsung.com/us/smart-switch/
If Smart Switch does not list the new update. Unplug your phone and choose, "emergency software recovery and initialization". Use SM-N910T as the model name and enter your serial number.
You'll have to put the phone in recovery mode, which is explained in the program.
RAM usage is down and issues with lag seem to be gone in most places.
