How to add apps to multi window? - Galaxy Tab 3 Themes and Apps

I did a little bit of research before asking but I don't see how for the Galaxy Tab 3. I'm using the ported 4.4 rom from the T211 on the T210. I thought I actually figured it out by going into data>data>com.sec.android.app.FlashBarService. When I opened it up I saw in the folder it had a document that had the app names like com.sec.android.gallery3d when I opened it as a text document. I forgot exactly how it looked but it was something like <Int>"com.sec.android.gallery3d"</1>. It had 6 apps on it, like how it shows the 6 apps when you turn multi window on and slide right. I replaced one with the kik name kik-android in it with the number and that stuff in it. I rebooted and it changed nothing. Then I set permissions to rw-r-r and then it made FlashBarService force close when you slide right and when I looked back into the folder I noticed everything in the folder was gone. I initially deleted the whole folder because I saw to do that but that didn't help. I might re-flash my rom just to play with that folder again if no one has any solutions to add apps to multi window. Oh and also it works again when I set the permissions back to how they were but still no files in the folder

After messing around with a lot of stuff I did something to make it work but ultimately I think these are the steps:
1) Download Xposed Installer
2) Download Wanam Xposed
3) Open up Xposed Installer
4) Go to Modules and check Wanam Xposed
5) Open up Wanam Xposed and open System
6) Scroll down to where you see Multi Window and select the apps you want to add
7) Reboot your device (should work on every device with the Multi Window feature)
8) Open up settings and go to display and check Multi Window (barring you haven't already)
9) Swipe to the very right of your screen
10) Touch the thing with two lines, select edit, and you should see the app(s) you added
11) Place those multi window apps however you want

If your rooted, you could also try multi window app manager by aeon time on the party store. It worked for me

original settings.apk

I add original apk from android 2.1 to my nook, but i doesn't work. I now can't enter to setting page, wifi atc... Please if some one would be angel, and send me the true original settings.apk from Nook touch. Thanks.
Go to the B&N webpage for the 1.1.2 update: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/Software-Updates-NOOK-Simple-Touch/379003175/
Download nook_1_1_2_update.zip.
It is a signed ZIP file, you can open it with 7zip, http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
(Windows can't open this directly without stripping the signature.)
Get whatever you like out of /system/app
If you aren't up to 1.1.2 yet, just do the manual update and it will fix things.
(Except that you may have to re-root.)
Thank. I try this before, but this signed zip archive get me
Install 7zip, thak to CrossOver (MAC). Extracted settings.apk. And everything work perfect. Thank you Renate!
Thread moved to general, based on the fact it's not a : mod/kernel/rom.
I write it works, but only procedure to get apk from update to phone. Settings app dont work, I can't see a icon in menu (but don't know there must to be), anyway i run setting from B&N bottom bar, nothing run. I can't event add widgets because context menu don't show. Please has some one any idea?
If you are running 1.1.2 and you put the Settings.apk out of nook_1_1_2_update.zip in, then it's the right one.
Settings.apk 971,804 bytes
Did you put it in the right place? Does it have the right permissions?
Did you kill SettingsProvider.apk too?
What does logcat say when it bombs? Give us a hint.
Yes, I have same size Settings.apk. I put it to /system/app/, permission set to rw-r--r-- .
I touch only setting.apk -SettingsProvider.apk is the same.
When I click on top bar (wifi/battery icon) restart nook, when I click on bottom B&N bar nothing shows.
Sorry i dont have terminal, and wifi home, at this time. I don't know what try...
When you click on the top bar you start: com.android.settings/.Settings_Quick
Have you tried Settings in the app drawer?
When you click on the settings icon in the app drawer you start: com.android.settings/.Settings_Root
Does everything else work?
Top bar -Quick setting (restart) -not work
Bott.bar -B&N settings button (nothing) - not work
Add widgets (nothing)-not work
NookColor Tools -All settings (No applications can perform this action)-not work
App drawer (No settings icon) - not work
Activity picker (no settings option) - not work
I try this posible accesses with and without setting.apk in /SYSTEM/APP but same result. -there is no diference if I have app or if not. I try install app "clasical" way, but I got -this app replace another existing app, after I move next app failed to install.
Why I get message (this app replace another existing app) if I don't have in my system nothing touches settings.apk?

[Q] AllianceRom Build1.1 Theme's GONE! :( and phone doesn't reboot properly

Out of nowhere yesterday, my alliancerom themes disappeared, when i go into alliance manager to go to the themes all of the zip files are gone and i dont know where they went, i ended up doing a clean install of alliancerom build 1.1 and they still aren't there?! help! thanks much at this point i'm not sure what to do next. Second issue, when i go to reboot my phone it doesn't power off completely. the phone shuts down but the buttons stay lit and it doesn't completely power off, tried reinstalling the rom, and on a different rom-slot and nothing has fixed it. Not sure exactly what this means honestly.
Did you install on stock slot? If not that's one of your problems.
http://bit.ly/1brshoa
Fail
Yes i have. And it doesn't do any good. I've moved the stock rom on and off the stock slot it didnt fix it.
Solved theme missing error
FIGURED IT OUT! after going thru the dev page and a bunch of time spent, i realized i was overthinking it. it's super easy all you have to do is go into a file explorer find the alliance folder, rename it, exit open alliance manager and it recreates and automatically extracts the themes from the zip file for you. problem. solved.! winning.

ok, use es file explorer or the default one to find the alliance folder, change the name from alliance to whatever you wish ( i named it allianceno lol) exit out so the new name is applied, then open the alliance manager go to choose theme, and voila the theme zip files have re-extracted and appear.

[GUIDE] FIX Theme Engine Bug on N9 (Alternative Method) [SystemUI not Themed]

First of all, this guide uses elements of another method, originally posted on G+ and YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW1UsCyOidY) but for some reason, on the Nexus 9, this method does not always work. The below method will work 100% of the time on the Nexus 9.
Go into the Theme Engine, and apply the SYSTEM DEFAULT THEME
Open Play Store, and purchase and download SQLite Editor (paid app, have not found a free version that actually works with Root access) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor&hl=en
Open SQLite editor.
In the APP list (selected by default) tap on the Settings Storage entry that says com.android.providers.settings underneath it
Tap on settings.db
Tap on secure
Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list, and long press on themeConfig entry
Tap on DELETE ENTRY
Exit SQLite Editor and go into Settings
Select Apps, and then All
Find the Theme Engine, and tap on it
Select FORCE CLOSE and then CLEAR DATA and clear the Theme Engine's data
Reboot your Nexus 9
Apply whatever theme you would like, and enjoy everything being themed, that was not themed before
Prosper
Please let me know if this method did, or did not work for you. I have tried it on three different N9s that were all experiencing the Theme Engine bug, and it worked on all three.
Thanks for reading.

[stock] Cm launcher with auto-rotation - no computer needed

Need root. Tested on Z1c with stock deodexed rom.
1) Flash this port, (not my work) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/themes-apps/app-cm12-1-trebuchet-rom-t3145576 Now you can use Trebuchet on stock rom.
2) Install apktool for Android here - http://onhax.net/tag/apktool-for-android-5-2-0-apk Choose the right version for your phone. I'm using Z1c, so I installed 'arm7'. After installed, go to settings and check 'device has root', then close the app, and reopen to grant root access.
3) Using a root browser, make a directory in storage somewhere called 'apktool', {or something}, and copy the following to it: /system/framework/framework-res.apk, /system/framework/SemcGenericUxpRes/SemcGenericUxpRes.apk, and Trebuchet.apk, (from the zip you flashed).
4) Open apktool, go to apktool directory, and import all 3 files as framework, by tapping them and choosing the option. Now you can decompile Trebuchet, and you should get a folder called Trebuchet-src.
For auto-rotation - go to /res/values/bools.xml and change 'false' to 'true' in the 'allow rotation' line.
For other tweaks - poke around and figure some stuff out. I was trying to change the background in the app drawer, since I don't like the white, and you can see in screenshots that I changed the background behind the background, but the white is still there around the apps. I did it by changing a color value in 'colors', then adding a line in 'apps_customize_pane', but I haven't figured out the other layer. I think it might be in smali somewhere. I also changed the background in Trebuchet settings.
After saving changes, open apktool app and tap on the Trebuchet-src folder and choose 'recompile'. You should get a new apk called 'Trebuchet-src.apk'. Then tap on that, and choose 'sign', which will create a new apk called 'Trebuchet-src-sign.apk', which you can install normally. Note that you might get an error message on recompile about default translation. Don't worry about it; as long as there is a new apk created, it should be fine.
{Mods: I know I'm not a dev, and I was going to just post in Z1c general, but it seems like it may apply to 'cross-device', so I figured I'd give it a shot. Please judge as you will}
Found a couple more layers...
Got it, (kind of - it's a hack)...
This was an old post so not sure it still applies..found it while searching.
Might be a stupid question..but
Does CM Launcher not work in landscape mode? It's not rotating and no setting for it. Can't imagine it doesn't in 2018..
What am I missing here?

[GUIDE]Utilizing free system space to Install Apps

Introduction:
This is a long but detailed guide to move user apps to system and to make them survive OTA so they will get restored on flashing every OTA(any rom?). This is lengthy but has to be done only once.
Things needed:
Unlocked and rooted device with TWRP installed and on any custom rom like Lineage which supports addon.d (NOT MIUI)
60-apps.sh
Link2sd
Titanium backup
A PC with any good notepad editor (I use notepad++)
Directory Printer
A USB Cable
Some free space (2GB) in internal/external sd card) temporarly
Little time and presence of mind (can't give link, sorry)
See Screenshots (folder) if it gets confusing, they are numbered 1 to 40 so it will be easy to understand.
Instructions:
1. Install you favorite rom and set it up. Install all the apps you use(do set the apps, just install for now). Once done, Install link2sd and titanium backup too.
2. Open link2sd and grand root permissions.
i. Tap menu and then Storage Info to check how much space do you have in System
ii. Tap back and set sorting mode to apk+dex+lib size and filter to User apps (both buttons are next to menu, you can't miss them)
iii. Now tap and hold on any application name you want to move to system, ideal apps would be like Greenify, Instadic, Truecaller etc. (apps you want to let run in background), apps you always keep in your phone or apps which are big in size. I used Kernel Adiutor-Mod here to demonstrate.
Move all the required apps and keep checking system space, leave 100-200mb free.
3. Once done, Reboot to TWRP
i. Tap Mount and put a tick before System
ii. Go back and Tap Advance--->File manager
iii. Scroll to find system, open it and find priv-app, open it too (you are here- /system/priv-app)
iv. Tap menu button and copy folder, scroll to find sdcard/sdcard1, again tap menu botton and swipe to copy. (i used Alarms folder in /sdcard)
4. Once done, Connect the phone to PC.
i. Make a folder (name it sysapps) and copy this priv-app folder in sysapps folder. (delete from sdcard)
ii. Download 60-apps.sh from here and place it in sysapps folder too.
iii. Open priv-app folder and delete everything except the apps you moved. Tip-Default system apps should have proper names like Settings. SystemUI, Velvet(gapps too) etc.
iv. Run Directory Printer and click save to disk. Set everything as shown here and navigate to \sysapps\priv-app folder.
v. Click Save to disk and again navigate to sysapps folder, name the file as my.txt and save it.
5. Run Notepad++ and open my.txt in it.
i. Press ctrl+h to open replace, write everything written before priv-app in find what column and delete everything written in replace with column. Click repalce all. (we are removing everything written before priv-app in every line)
ii. Again write \ in find what column and / in replace with column. Click replace all.
6. Open 60-apps.sh in notepad++
i. Look for addon.d/60-apps.sh under list_files() {
ii. Select and copy everything from my.txt and paste it between addon.d/60-apps.sh and EOF (there is a blank line there, check and delete if any blank line remains after pasting)
iii. Once done, save it and exit notepad++.
7. Now copy/move this 60-apps.sh to sdcard and disconnect the phone
i. As done above to copy priv-app from system to sdcard, copy 60-apps.sh from sdcard to /system/addon.d
ii. Navigate to /system/addon.d and tap 60-apps.sh. Tap chmod 755. Swipe to confirm.
iii. Reboot your phone.
8. Use your phone as you do and flash any ota without wiping system. If changing rom, try deleting everything except priv-app and addon.d folder in system, instead of wiping system partition completely.
Moving updated apps to system:
Occasionally apps will get updated and they will start to acquire space in data. To move them back to system do this.
1. Open titanium backup, tap Backup/Restore, tap click to edit filters and under Filter by type tap User and Uninst. to leave just System enabled. Tap green Check above right to set.
2. Tap Order by app name (click to change) and tap last update time.
3. Backup all updated apps temporarily and close titanium backup.
4. Open link2sd and set filter to Updated
5. Tap and hold on app's name and tap Integrate update into system
6. Once done, reboot.
7. Open titanium backup again and restore data only for the apps you backed up.

You think it can be done however? In TWRP there's an option for repartition. But obviously I guess it isn't that simple :silly:
Does it require developer-level skills?
Thanks for the guide, BTW!!:good::good:
