I have no idea what aspect you hope to change. You really didn't describe it enough to narrow it down. Nor did you draw an arrow or something on your screen shot to point out what you are alluding to.
Also, not every nuance or sub feature on a phone will be in the phone settings. If Samsung tried ro do that, we'd have thousands of settings to wade through.
Anyway, the home screen page animation is called a transition effect. See if you like one of the alternates. Or do a search to see if a Themer has made some new ones more to your taste.
long press on an empty area of the home screen > Home screen settings > Transition effects

I think he's talking about the glowing over scroll effect where it bounces with a blue glow when you reach the end of a page. I think its baked into android itself but I could be wrong.
Tapped It!

If so, good luck to him. There is no option to disable that relected light effect. And it could take a lot of searching through decompiled packages to even locate, never mind change it.

Yes you're right. It will no doubt be buried deep inside the SystemUI.apk (pretty sure I saw the PNGs for it on an earlier android version when unpacking systemui), which requires that you're rooted and that you know what the hell you're doing. If you do decide to mess around with SystemUI then ALWAYS KEEP A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL!
The other problem is that I'm not sure Kitkat SystemUI.apk can be (easily) unpacked yet, let alone re-packed, due the the different Framework-res layout which changed drastically in the 4.4 kitkat update thus rendering programs like apktool useless. I might be wrong, they might have fixed it by now.
I guess if you're not changing any code in the systemui.apk you could always just try unzipping it using 7zip, search for the overscroll highlight png (probably in res folder) and replace it with a blank/transparent png of the same size/dimensions by dragging the new blank png into the ORIGINAL, "packed" systemui.apk opened up in 7zip.
Unless the PNG in question is 9-patched in which case you're screwed.....
....or just learn about 9 patching! Yay fun!
Agh confusing.

Might not even be an image. Watching the effect, the .png may only establish the page edge. The actual "scrolling" light reflection is a very simple effect e.g. fixed intensity, width, area on one axis. So it could be efficently rendered as a simplistic recursive shading equation if the programmer felt like doing it that way.

You're probably right as the last SystemUI I unpacked was Jellybean but even since then things have moved on leaps and bounds. But, the overscroll highlight PNGs definitely used to reside in SystemUI in earlier android versions.
I don't however doubt what you're saying, as the android Status Bar used to be made up of PNGs in systemui, that all changed in ICS and is now just lines of code.
Things used to be so easy to muck around with.

Overscroll PNGs are and always have been in framework res. You can change the color simply by replacing the 2 PNGs. Overscroll glow and overscroll edge. No decompiling needed. As mentioned above just drag and drop with 7zip. Dragging transparent versions in would effectively disable the effect

Nice one, sorry it's been a while since I've ventured into the depths of framework-res and systemui apks. Knew I'd seen them somewhere.

[REQ] Clear Windows Taskbar ?

I am curious if this would be possible. I doubt that it is, otherwise someone would have likely done this by now, but is it possible to have the windows taskbar (as well as the bar with the softkeys on the bottom) be clear so that you can see the full image in TF3D, with the icons and writing over top of it just like the slider and icons?
I understand that even if this is possible, it could run in to a few problems once you are no longer in TF3D, because from what i understand you can't have the taskbar be different colours depending on what the phone is doing.
Anyways, is it possible, yay or nay?
Nay.
Yay, with wisbar advance.
can??? haw?
Thanks kraize,I have never used wisbar advance, can you actually make it clear or would I have to skin it with the photo?

Not sure about that one. I know that one person skinned it with a photo to make it look clear. I know you can make it very close using transparency. But don't know if it'd be completely clear.
It is possible, there is a program out there called "PMC TodayShrink", im sorry i don't have a link for it, i used it on my kaiser to see the full today screen ( i had a nice rl today theme) but with the kaiser i had enough buttons to simulate the hidden softkeys, but with the diamond this will be something else......
Edit: i think i misunderstood you here, did you mean transparent?
Yeah, transparent. I don't want to remove the taskbar and softkeys, i just want to make the black bars transparent or rather, completely remove any colour so that it just looks like the softkey writing is on the background picture. Exactly like with the no curtains .cab, where the date and the service provider writing now just looks like it is on the background picture.
And i checked out wisbar advance 3.0 and that could potentially work by just creating a skin for it that will just continue the background picture, but it also changes / adds a lot that i don't want.
Bumping this thread....Is it now possible to make the black bars that house the taskbar and softkeys transparent when using TF3D2?
A transparent bar would be awesome, but I realize this isn't as simple.
What I would like to know is how to change the colour of the bars?
I know is is possible, because I've seen WM6.1 themes that has the taskbar coloured.
I would just like to make the bar something a little more exciting than plain black.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found a little program here on XDA that changes the taskbar colour along with some text colours, as well. Really awesome program! It can be found here.

There are a bizillion ways to accomplish this... editors galore... but the simplest way IMO is to use a .tsk file. They're all over, but I have collected several - both shiny bars and flat matte. I've posted my screen to show one shade of purple (I have two)... Just apply your TF3D theme and choose a complimentary tsk file... It will change all of the windows colors (ie, menus, scrollbars, taskbars, etc.), but not those of TF3D. It is my experience that those colors remain true to the theme. However, there are several "focus" cabs around that will change the TF3D selected items colors.
I have several colors in both styles (and a few focus colors)... if there is something in particular you have in mind, let me know and I'll upload it if I have it.

Thanks a lot for the help offer, I must probably have just found the solution when you replied.
Just about anything concerning manila I already have covered and have an extensively modified theme for manila, I'm just waiting for a particular slider that will complete my TF3D theme. Slider
A coloured taskbar was the next step and now I have that covered, as well :-D
I've attached a screenie of my today screen. The clock I made myself; it was supposed to look like carbon, but I failed, sadly. I like your clock, though, but it won't fit with my theme.
Thanks again. I appreciate it a lot and just might call on your help one day :-D
EDIT: Okay, seems I needed your help earlier than I expected :-D
How did you get your "start" text to show "Maureen"? I followed the steps posted at PPCGeeks by Tsowen (don't have the link with me now), but I can't find the string they're referring to in my shellres.192.dll :/
Oh, and how did you get the "alarm" text to go away, as well? As you can see, mine still shows "6:00 AM" for my alarm and I'm not sure which text to remove from the manila file to hide that, as well.

Sorry I wasn't any more help. I seem to remember having to try, try again with the Start text, though. See if you have better luck using the file I've indicated above. Here are the instructions as I saved them:
Change Start Text
1. Unsign your shellres.dll.0409.mui
2. Open it in one of these three Reshack / PE Explorer / Restoratorand go to string value 321 and change the name from Start to whatever you want.
3. Save your modified file
4. Open MssignerorMultiple file Signer
· click Start sign Process (for MFS follow directions in the link)
· a window will pop-up with "Process finished!"
· You will see a that a text file has been create for your shellres on your desktop
· Open the text file, if you see "Warning: This file is signed, but not timestamped, Succeeded" you know the file was signed.
5. Transfer the modified file to your SD card
6. Open TC and navigate to the /Windows and rename your old file to "shellres.dll.0409.mui.bak"
7. Move your modified file from your SD card into the /Windows
8. Soft Reset updated 12/09/08
(From THE Custom Taskbar thread on PPCGeeks by TSOwen)
If you're still having problems, PM me and I'll see if I can help you further. xoxo

Your search has ended...
I found these searching around... the first zip contains two shades of purple shiny bars, the wm_purple contains flat bars. I am also attaching a purple WMP (the original, just purple) skin which matches 75769.tsk... portrait and landscape (PURPORIG.zip). Just unzip and copy the files into Windows (after you make a back up of the originals, of course).
I hope this helps... xoxo

Would be cool if you/someone could make a taskbar.tsk which is black gloss, the htc black is just total black so it's a bit ugly Also I need to ask, I can't seem to put my Diamond in portrait mode in WMP even tho I have a skin for it. What's wrong? :E

Have you tried opening WMP while already in landscape mode? I have a touch pro and mine won't go landscape until I slide out the keyboard. Do a search for apps that address the g sensor/accelerometer (I thnk...LOL).
Below is a cab for "glossy black bars"... I've never tried it. I also have a tsk file with shiny gray bars... might be a good contrast to your theme.

modifications for Manila/TF3D 2 "Landscape" on X1

Hi, in this thread we discuss modifications of the landscape version of manila. Why a new thread? Well, to avoid confusion which manila the modifications will work on.
And the word at the moment is that the old manila editors don't work properly with TF3D-L. We're all still learning what TF3D-L can and can't do though. I only found out today that I can hide the large digits in portrait, but not in landscape.
One change I would be interested in is changing the green highlighting for blue. Any thoughts as to where to start with that?
Yup, I also use the no curtains cab that removed the top and bottom curtains. It works on the new TF3D 2, but it only removes the bottom curtain.
I would like one that removes both.
It's all about picking the files apart seperately.
Having a working file editor would indeed make that much easier. I expect a working version very soon, as the filetypes are similar. It'd only be a matter of adding the new files to the file list, no?
I can definitely verify that manila editor doesn't not work but CFC GUI does. I used it to create my theme.
It can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470798
I just tried that and it's an awesome app, thanks for the heads-up! How is it on Manila 2?
It works well.. Of course i'm running into landscape issues. There is an image that is used for the landscape background i believe its 299eblahblah and no matter how i try and extend this image it doesn't cover the whole background in landscape. I'm going to try some more when i get home but i tried for like 2hrs last night with no success
Alrighty, I'll be looking into this myself too then, will let you know if I find something useful.
How about HEX editing, as any of that required for the landscape BG?
I didn't do any hex editing.... Then again my landscape image doesn't work right either lol..
Hmm. I'm trying to get my TF3D 1 skin working, but TF3D 2 keeps hanging on me. Some parts just don't seem to load and I don't know what's causing it.
Did you get that to work?
Where is it hanging? It might just be a tf3d 2 bug. Some files that are in tf3d 1 aren't in tf3d 2 as well. I'm still not sure if you can copy and paste them in the windows folder. I've cooked these files into the rom but i believe there is a setting in CFC that asks you if u are doing a copy paste.
I'm using SOTI Pocket controller to replace the files in my windows folder. After that I reboot. It then hangs upon startup. It shows the screen as if I'm sliding the slider to select another tab, "selecting" the home tab. I cannot control anything TF3D does from there, but most of the skin is visible.
I can imagine Pama's transparent sliders don't work on this ROM, so I've tried without those, but even tweaks to my background seem to mess it up.
Going to try with some other files now. (resetting takes a lot of time though. )
Yea i think there is something out how the files are either compressed or decompressed. CFC says something about padding vs trimming.
So... how do you suppose I can fix this? It's kind-of required to commence further testing.
EDIT: I'm eliminating the different possible causes for it not to work. Have narrowed it down to either the background or the curtains.
EDIT2: The good old background image fix doesn't work.
EDIT3: Surprise, surprise, the top and bottom curtains don't work either! I'm guessing that is the part where it's going to get tricky.
Gonna work on the new icons first though, hoping for one of the brighter minds (read: more experienced with TF3D) to come up with an awesome solution!
EDIT4: Can't get the BG or curtains to work -yet. The previously working HEX fix did no wonders this time.
Although I suspect the curtains are just fine as they are, since they seem to be semi-transparant.
P.S. Didn't you already get the background working, Bxsteez?
oh, I missed that... so I'll repost all things already posted around by me:
1- Analog + small flip clock, already ported to new tflo3d http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=479929
2- background files (see attachment), inspect and try to have idea on how works (4 files, 2 for portrait and 2 for landscape... what a mess )
3- I usually get rid of top bar with a transparent 18c460d8_manila. Doesn't work anymore
4- no lines in tabs with transparent 74ddfccb_manila still works
5- graphic files for flip clock customization are ok
6- bottom bar transparency still works with a transparent 1864da05_manila
@mod: please stick this customization thread and let float away the previous one... tnx

Ok here is what i did to get it work via copy and paste.
I used CFC tool and when i was finished replacing files i went to tools and clicked finish up. I chose it to be uncompressed and then trim. This worked perfect for me. I'm not sure about that curtian cause i still can't get that to change.
I get the top curtain working again only in home cutting away the qtc reference snip in manila file with m9editor (search for "HomeTab" and you'll see) but it doesn't sounds like a great solution. Should be better to find the file invoked and make it trasparent like before

Editing softkeybar .png images....

I just tried to modify my softkeybar by changing some colours around, saved the file as a .png with the same dimensions and such like, copied it back to the device and when I restarted the softkey bar was all kind of fragmented and multicolured.
Could anyone tell me what I've done wrong......
I know its something stupid but I'm having one of those days.
Thanks
did you save it as an interlaced .png? if so turn that off and the issue should go away.
hmm i cant find any option relating to that. will the bit depth affect it?

[Q] Create Custom Framework-res.apk (Colors)?

Hey Developers,
I'm currently really busy with Android and everything around it. now I want to start and create my own theme. So far I know I have to pull (or get it from my current ROM) framework-res.apk and take the res map out (or icons) and then when I'm done I have to open it with 7zip and but the files I've edited back and then I can push it (not 100% sure how I have to do that but I'll find that out later)
Now the problem I'm having is changing the colors. I want to set the color of everything (buttons, radio buttons, numbers) and stuff to Purple instead of the normal Green.
I'm currently doing this by opening every file with Photoshop edit it and save it.
Is there any other way to do this or am I using the right way?
Hope someone can help me out!
Thanks in Advance,
SterAllures
You can do it this way with no problems.
If you want have all animations on notifications bar available at the moment you can use my framework-res if you want, it also have com.htc.resources.apk for espresso launcher theme, I based my work on other framework do it here with all animations on notifications enabled because I can't do it well without problems.

Framework with espresso carbono [30-09-2010]: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OIAQDS5E
GPS movement on conection
Rotate sync icon
SCB "I" do it by NeoPhyTe for me and added later for http://circle.glx.nl
All notification icons replaced and colored
"Herotizado" window style
And some others that I don't remember at the moment
Well I want to start by editing the colour and after that change the colors. but thanks a lot for the frameworks! I'll download them and look at it!
but I still want to know if by editing them with Photoshop is the best way to do it? or is there an easier/better way?

You can look at my small tutorial in my signature
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
After a long fight with my framework-res.apk I must warn you: if you push the new apk back on the phone via adb you are likely to get a lot of errors on boot from alle the HTC apps launching at startup. You're way better off if you create a update.zip and flash it - no errors at all. In Fightspit's tutorial is a link to the utils for such an update.zip (the tutorial is great and a life saver btw).
And do not forget to decompile framework (not unzip) before editing images, or u will have problems with .9.png (they must have 1px border around)
Edit: and yes u have to edit images one at the time with photoshop

Hope I can create a professional looking theme!

I haven't used the Black Infinitium theme in a long time, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't change the stock icon shape, it just changes the the color... well... to white.
Unless you're referring to the default battery icon it comes with, which is definitely un-stock-like (is that even a word? ). However, that can easily be fixed. Assuming you're using the ROM you have listed in your signature...

... You should have the ability to switch the battery style. I can't test this, as I don't own a Nexus 4 and have never used CrDroid, but according to the ROM's OP, it has the ability to switch the battery style to percentage text and battery icon... So I'll assume it does. Thus, if that's truly the case, all you got to do is apply the Black Infinitium theme, go into your settings, change your battery style to battery icon (or experiment with whatever other battery style options CrDroid offers) until you find the stock-like white battery icon. I know when I rocked AOKP and the Black Infitium theme, I could do just that. Hopefully your ROM can do the same. :good:
Anyways, let me know how it goes. Hopefully you get what you're looking for.

Thanks but it changes more than the status bar icons e.g. volume seeker and gives the phone a more darker look leaving it stock background colour
I got the white status bar icons needed but cant make a theme
Seriously, I have searched high and low for a LONG time, back to when I was running CM 9 and 10 on my Nexus S 4G for a theme that ONLY changes the status bar icons to white and have still came up with nothing. I feel like that'd be something in high demand and easy to find but I guess not. I mean, even changing the overscroll glow and highlighting would be nice. I've considered learning how to theme just do make one lol. If anyone could help us out, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, it's the media folder. The exact path is /system/media.
@fahadsul3man; Be sure the animation .zip is called bootanimation.zip and has the following permissions: rw-r--r--. Reboot your phone and you should be good to go. A suggestion, be sure to make a backup of your original bootanimation.zip in case you ever wish to revert back; this can be done by adding the extension .bak to the end of the bootanimation.zip.
