[ROM][OFFICIAL][4.4.4]OnePlus Stock Android (AOSP / GPE / "100% pure Android feel")
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/rom-official-4-4-4-oneplus-stock-android.65482/
just letting you guys know, oneplus just announced an official stock android rom. it does require you to unlock your bootloader and install a custom recovery to flash. flashing this does not void your warranty unless you screw up and brick the phone.
Download: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712458500 (17/8/2014)
Source: https://github.com/OnePlusTech/android_kernel_oneplus_one
Gapps: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358544845
Changelog
17/8/2014:
- Added a ton of new languages
- Added navbar switch - go to Settings -> Display -> Software buttons to enable them
- Added support for 4K video
- Bumped camera resolution to 13MP
Known issues
Gyroscope and encryption should work as of 17/08 build.

That's really good, it's always great to see some extra goodies.

Great!!!

Help
Ok, I think I have messed up big time. Here is it.... I have has some experience with rooting and roms, but I think I am just a bit sleepy right now. What I did was download the aosp file, but when it download is was in the form of a folder. and I transferred it to my phone. Now I have wiped my phone and don't know what to do. I am on a mac. So i download the file again and right clicked and clicked compress. then pushed that on to the /sdcard/. but when i try to install the zip file it says install failed. When can I do?
Edit: following this fixes the issue.
can't post the link but just search "Jumping from ColorOS to CM11S" and it should be a link at one plus's website.

Generally you don't need to have root in your OS when you flash it.
Unlocking bootloader and putting on a recovery doesn't need root access.

you dont need root. but if you do want root without tripping apps off, you can try rootcloack. http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-rootcloak-completely-hide-root-t2574647

You need to use the latest TWRP 2.7.1.0 to flash 100%. It's the only recovery that works.

n00b here...
Then what is the point of rooting?
I want to get 4.3. :crying:
You will be able to install root access apps and certain mods. I personally don't find if useful at the moment, so I'll be waiting for a bootloader unlock. (Which is what is actually needed for flashing ROMS).

With Root (and a locked bootloader) you can do TONS of stuff.
- Install and use TiBu
- Change framework for unlocking many neat customizations
- Remove/disable bloatware
- Allow for wifi tethering
- Disable ads
- Change startup/shutdown/system sounds
- Change bootup animations
- etc..
Just because you have a locked bootloader does not mean you have no use for root.

You can install the Xposed Framework and add a multitude of various mods to your setup. I used it when waiting for the original boot loader work around. Its quite nice actually. The amount of options have only expanded since that time. Check it out.

Use the search function and search the forums for "sysscope" or "custom" or visually search for threads that have that subject in the title. You should find tons of information about it within the first page or two of the "general" and "Q&A" sub forums.

There are several threads about it here on XDA. It's the Samsung screen notice that you've changed their OS. Sort of like the old triangle on the S2 when you trip the rom-flash counter.
I was able to eliminate the unlocked lock symbol using Chainfire's Triangle away (might be on XDA, but I bought it on Play).
Read the caveats and decide if you want to use it. . . worked for me on my i337 running SHOstock2.1!
Good Luck!

If you're on the mf3 firmware you can't install twrp. And don't try as you will probably brick your phone. Do you know what firmware you're on?

Root without having to unlock bootloader

I successfully rooted my shield without unlocking bootloader using towelroot. When you install the apk and run it it says it will reboot in 15 seconds, but it will take a little longer than that for some reason so just let it sit for a while. After it reboot I had the SuperSU from chainfire's website downloaded. Use root explorer to open the zip. Go to common folder and install the apk. Worked for me.towelroot.com. download.chainfire.eu/447/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r4.zip.

Me too. But it is very easy to unroot through the SuperSU app. I would just make sure you undo anything you change system wise before unrooting like uninstalling busybox.

I believe Geohot said it should work on any phone with a kernel date before June 3. Shouldn't hurt to give it a try. It will either root or it won't. I think the Motorola community has been able to unlock some bootloaders after using this root method. Check the forums for you particular device.

Hey having a bit of problems hoping someone can help? Like a previous user mentioned Towelroot hangs after clicking 'make it rain'. A few minutes go by and I get a 'not responding' prompt. If I click 'wait', a few Kore minutes go by then same thing again. If I click 'close' the device reboots without root.
I'm at a loss for what to do next.. Is it recommended doing this in safe mode? 4.4.2.
Cheers

It works with systemless root and TWRP installed. I use it with the stock ROM/kernel but i have root, busybox and TWRP. I don't think there's a way to use it with s custom ROM yet but now that xposed is out there might be way
You also need to be stock DPI. It fails if Xposed is installed, but I may play around with some of the modules and see if there is a way to get it working. Hate missing out on Xposed just for Android pay.

I am using android pay with the systemless root and an unlocked bootloader... no problems here. Bought something the other day from best buy. It and the fingerprint reader work fine. I even have adaway and have changed the fonts on the system and it still works fine.
I can confirm that unlocking so you can flash factory images still allows Android Pay to work. I unlocked and flashed the latest security update, left the phone unlocked (since I don't want to wait for OTAs) and have used Android Pay with no problems.

How To Root easily without any kind of Tools and installing OTAs - beginner's Guide.

Hello,
my aim here is to sort out things easily for beginner's, hence I made a detailed video on How To Root and Unlock Bootloader using TWRP and Magisk with the help of ADB drivers and Magisk.
which is,
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery xxx.img
flash the TWRP and Magisk, you have a rooted device.
I have made a detailed Video, check it out,
Links are provided in the description and I will be updating it.
TWRP Credits to @eng.stk
Magisk Credits to @topjohnwu
while updating your ROM,
Flash the FULL ROM ZIP
Wipe Dalvik Cache and Cache
Flash Masgik
to be on the safer side, reboot.
backup stock kernel
flash the custom kernel
you will continue to get the OTAs but in FULL ZIPs, not in Incremental Updates.

yes, I have already updated, although I wouldn't suggest to flash now.
it has issues with Data Restore, stay on Unofficial for now.
Uh, ADB and Fastboot are tools. I'm betting more than 3/4 of first time flashers have most of their problems with drivers for ADB and Fastboot.
Just sayin.....

yes, they are tools but it's an universal tool. there is no need of tools like AIO One Click Tool.

I'll be getting the OP5 T next month, so i'll be checking out your video then. As I definitely want to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP straight away
Nice video. Perhaps the phone portions could zoom in a little more, but you mention in the video links but I didn't see them. It would be helpful in your first post to have the links to adb/fb, recommended twrp, and magisk. That will save N00b from hunting around for the drivers and packages. Also when I make videos I tend to stay away from version numbers because they are always changing, that is why it's easier to update in the post, unless you expect to keep updating the video. HTH
How do u backup stock kernel?
