Restricted User Profile on Nexus 7 (flo) Problem - General Paranoid Android Discussion

Hello,
Since I use PA ROM on my Nexus 4 (mako), I decided to flash my Nexus 7 (flo) too. However, when I needed to add a restricted user profile for my 4 year old son, it didn't work. When I try to open his profile for the first time, a message pops saying "The setup wizard has stopped" and the screen stays blank. Both top bars open and I am able to lock the tablet again to go back to my profile. I already tried everything which I found in the forums. I've got this issue with both pa_flo-4.43-20140715.zip and pa_flo-4.5-ALPHA1-20140715.zip. Everything else seems to work fine. Please help. Thanks!

Screen Timeout.

Hi All,
I am experiencing this issue with the screen timeout since last week. The screen does not time out even if the screen timeout is set to 30 seconds. What actually happens is whenever something like this happens i go into the display settings-->Screen Timeout to check and find that no value is selected. The I choose the 30 seconds option and then it starts working.
Another issue is the location update on the Genie Weather widget. It worked fine till recently. Now the location is updated only if I enter a my Home Wifi Network.
Has anybody experienced any of the above issues. A solution will be much appreciated.
Note: Am on stock 2.3.1 and not rooted or installed a custome rom.
Cheers
Sam
Sounds like you need to factory reset
I did that a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to get rid of the lookout app. And since then am experiencing this.

Why does my nexus 7 hate Wifi?

Ok, i have been having this problem for a few months now and i have finally got fed up with it.
Whenever i try to connect to one of the many wifi spots on my campus or the one at my home, or pretty much any wifi spot, a few minuets later it will just drop, for no reason (and sometimes the wi-fi itself will just turn off for no reason after an hour or so.). And then when i go to the wifi options and ask it to re-connect, it just sits there and does nothing, no matter how much i tap it will not do nothing unless i turn wifi on and off, and even then the chance of reconnecting is slim, and when it does re-connect it usually just drops again.
I tried using the Wifi fixer app but it does not seem to help, and the log file i had it create cannot be opened for some reason either or is corrupted.
What im wondering is why does it do this, what is causing it? Is there some kind of log file or console where i can see what exactly is going on when it tries to connect to wi-fi so i can pinpoint the problem? anyone else have this problem and found a fix?
My nexus 7 is the 16GB version Wi-fi only. It has never been rooted or hacked in any way.
Same problem here. I've done research and apparently it seems like a common problem? It's driving me nuts especially when I'm trying to watch Netflix. My Nexus 4 has no issues...
Well if there is a kernel or ROM out there that fixes this i am just going to go ahead and root, because i have a feeling that google wont release a fix until android key-lime pie, if that even makes it to the nexus 7

[Q] I337M, KitKat and Bluetooth

I know that this question belong in the relevant development forums, but I'm too new to post there.
Bell Canada S4 and after running TW 4.2.2 decided that I wanted to try Kitkat.
Started with the "Gummy" rom and install was fine. Worked well as a daily driver except for Bluetooth with my car (a 2012 Golf TDI). Every 5 minutes or so I will see the car display telling me the phone has been disconnected and then a minute later it reconnects. It would also disconnect mid-call. After some random time of doing this, the Bluetooth will "lock" in the turning on stage. By that I mean that if you go to the Bluetooth settings, it will say Bluetooth is turning on, and never go anywhere or connect. The only way to reset it was to restart the phone. If I was sitting in the car and working with it when it disconnected, I would see a message "Bluetooth Share has stopped" on the phone
Similar experience with Dandriod. Except that instead of locking up trying to turn on Bluetooth, the phone will reboot.
Anybody have any suggestions on where to look? And yes I clean flashed the ROMs, with a wipe cache/davlik after install. I'm liking 4.4 overall, but I need Bluetooth working consistently. The fine for driving with a phone in your hand is something I don't want to pay for.

Tap and Go doesn't work right

So my wife's nexus 5 is having an issue where the phone randomly shuts off and I've determined it's a hardware problem so it's about to be sent into squaretrade. In the meantime I thought I might set up the Nexus 4 for her to use. I used tap and go to set it up and it didn't copy over a single app. What did I do wrong?

An error has occurred while updating the device software (2018)

It's very frustrating because I need this tablet working in order to take notes in my college classes. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks.
I was having the same problem, but i figured it out last night. Without OTG cable, Odin, SideSync, Realtek, or a PC. I'd been messing with it for 3 days, so Im not 100% sure of what everything said and i'm definitely not going to relock it to try an duplicate it, but if you've been all over youtube then you've seen methods that require a wifi connection, (I found it easiest to use my phone's wifi hotspot) you disconnect your hotspot or unplug your router immediately when it says checking for software update, which appears after clicking accept on the privacy policy. (Again it's easier to just turn off the hotspot than to unplug your router" When done correctly it souls say "couldn't sign in" and then the next screen will either ask you to set up time and date or it asks you to add a name to the tablet (can't remember which is first) then asks to set up a screen lock passcode or pattern (set up either one), after doing all this 100 times I noticed it asked me if i wanted to set up a IMAP/POP3 account to use within the Gmail app (which I'd been skipping) but for some reason it didn't give me this option every time. You have to be connected to the internet for the next part so if you haven't already go ahead and turn your hotspot back on or router and add any email address other than a Gmail (I used my yahoo account) then follow through with the setup into it takes you back to the very first screen you see when you turned on the tablet. Now just turn the tablet screen off and back on (just the screen, do not power down the tablet) put in your lockscreen password and now In the top right corner there should be a little yellow icon which lets you switch users (if you see this, you've got it beat) now create a new user signing into your Gmail and Samsung accounts (if you don't have one, create a new account) once you're done with that it will take you to the home screen, pull down the notification bar and go into settings (notice since you're on an added user you can't factory reset the device) find "Users", and then switch back to the owner profile, it then tells you that you still need to set up the tablet to continue. Once i clicked okay it now let me pull down the notification bar to access settings, but this time you're on the owners account so you can factory reset it, go to "Back up and Reset" and then go ahead and factory reset it again. If done correctly the FRP will no longer be on the tablet. I know this probably sounds extremely complex so if you have any questions feel free to message me and Ill give you my email and phone number and ill help walk you through it
