The IR cover is missing, where do I get a replacement? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) General

I just noticed that the IR cover is no longer on my Note. I don't know when or where it went but it's gone. Just a gaping hole there now about the same size as the micro-USB hole on the bottom.
Where would I find a replacement cover?

Aw man, don't even bother- I'm sure all the IR has leaked out by now
(SamsungParts.com is a good place to start, but I didn't see anything parts wise save service manuals.)

Turns out that the IR still works fine. I'm just worried that cruft will get in there and screw things up.
I sent an email to them and they've sent me a link to a page to order the part. There's no photo so I hope it's the right part. Costs $1.90 plus around $10.00 shipping. Takes 6 weeks but they charged my credit card immediately.

You know I was kidding, right? But good thing you were able to find the part, in any case.

I would cover the hole with a strip of sellotape until the part arrives to prevent dirt from entering.

Battery Cover Not Fitting (Quick "Fix")

I've had issues with the battery cover not being flush and having lips on both sides. Now you may think I'm crazy for posting this, but hell...I didn't think the solution I found would actually work.
Basically, I just took a post-it and folded it twice (maybe three, I forget) and placed it under the cover...perfectly flush now!
I figured it would just push the cover and create more lip, but instead I tried it and it make it fit perfect! All seriousness, I was considering using rubber cement to hold it...I'm glad I didn't.
Strange
Worked for me too! Who would have thought... Thanks for the advice.
Where did you place the post it? Dead center?

Dead center over the battery.
I also cut it in half, it was pushing the cover a bit too far out near the camera.
wow! i didn't even realize this bothered me until you pointed it out. super simple fix. you sir, are a genius. well done!
woah cool
10char
This bothered the hell out of me as well... for some reason it's only the right side (when the phone is facing down) that doesn't sit flush on the edges. The left side is perfectly fine.
Unfortunately your fix doesn't do much to help my situation but I'll play around with it a little more. Great idea though
I noticed this also but when I put the ext battery that i bought for the Hero in it went away.. You can always put a Innocase II on it and that takes care of the problem too

sorry i should be more clear..its just a 2000 ext hero battery that is the same size as original..its was $10 on ebay so i went ahead and just got it for kicks.
oh ok... yea those batterys are the same thing as the 1500....
Mine is also lipped on the right side if the phone is facing down. I'm trying all kinds of things right now to fix this.

Dude you are a genious! Such a simple solution LOL Works great my cover is perfectly flush now. Will have to find something of similiar thickness to permanently stick to the backside of the battery cover.
Thanks
Works for me, greatly appreciated! Seriously bugged the hell out of me. It's not perfect but it's so much better
The post-it mod rocks! That did kind of annoy me before.
Works almost perfectly for me, what pisses me off about it is that my cover was flush until I removed it to change out my sd card.
wtf made you think of this?
fixed one little annoyance i had with the phone. thanks!
Just be careful that you don't add too much insulation and keep the heat from escaping the battery...
I had to do this with both of my EVOs. Pretty terrible that HTC can't even make a battery cover fit properly on a 'flagship' phone.

Official Docks for Defy?

Anyone tried putting a magnet next to the back of their Defy?
I have this leather case for an old XDA I used to have, which has a magnet built in to clasp the strap closed.
When I put the defy in, it came up with a multimedia dock interface!
Also, putting the magnet at another point puts it into the car windscreen dock interface.
I looked on the Motorola website for the accessories, but they list the milestone multimedia/windscreen docks under the Defy accessories.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Milestone's usb port is in the wrong place to fit?
Yes, the milestone won't fit. I'm waiting for a desk-stand, too

Problem is, it'll switch into car mode every time you use that...
magnet polarity
Turn the polarity of magnet!
If you put the magnet same place like in the car mount (behind of the menu button), but with reversed polarity. The phone runs the media home instead of car home.
I understand that's how it works.
Thing is, how easy is to to get to the magnet?
Are you likely to end up ruining or breaking the dock whilst trying to remove and reinsert it?
If you don't want the magnet to work, can't you put the phone in upside down? Most of my apps work fine inverted. I realize that puts the usb on top...
I just bought a cheap mount from China on eBay now. No magnet

FP scanner replacement..

My FP scanner stopped working recently...figured it was software related so i went ahead and wiped the stats..restarted, installed new custom rom...no cigar.
I have dropped my phone in water so im assuming its water damage.
Anyone got any ideas where i can get a replacement and get it fixed?
Thanks!

If water has affected the hardware, i doubt that you can ever fix this problem( if i were you, i would dismantle the phone and try and clean-and completely dry any water off it- the FP scanner and see if it works....but i would not advise you to do such a thing if you are not comfortable with it).
If, however it's a software issue, Flashing a new ROM would have fixed this problem.
The good news here though is that you can use the traditional lock, which many Atrix users prefer over the FP scanner.
another option is too look for a bricked phone or one with a cracked screen for parts to replace the FP scanner.
funny thing about water damage....i dropped it in may...literally 3 months ago..and now its causing an issue...guess i have to live with no FP scanner..

Just got a replacement from them for about $30 with the back as well for good measure. Friend from the US shipped it up here to save.
my old one actually does work haven't determined why my sensor gives me issues (off balance so it records swipes that aren't happening - not sure what the cause is cause it just goes away after some adjustment). the point being you are in toronto so you can have mine for $10 and i would install it as well.

you might not need both, but to be safe spend the extra $5. I haven't used the one I bought since it appears to be working fine.
This phone is very easy to torn apart.
yeah its actually one of the easiest out there

you won't have to go beyond step 6 for this repair.
There is an onlilne outfit that supplies replacement parts for the Atrix, but doing so is not for the faint of heart.. The site is located at www.repairsuniverse.com
I considered going through them to replace my glass when it lost a battle with gravity and a concrete slab, and noticed at the time, they have just about any part that you could need, including the board that contains the FP scanner.

I bought it before I saw your post. You are right. The cover actually rests underneath the FP scanner itself.
In stead of buying the entire scanner, what I did was super glue the sticker back down. It's not exactly pretty, but the scanner still works flawlessly.

Anyone take the speaker out of an LG WCP-700 yet?

This is a picture of a circuit board from an LG WCP-700 Qi charger. It makes a very annoying beep, but I can't figure out what is making it. My best guess so far is the part labeled 331. Any help would be appreciated.

Might want to check this out. Someone stated that they took it out and it's dead.
I have the same question, I got the case open expecting this to be easy but I'm not 100% sure what to pull off the PCB. I think you are right that it has to be the part labeled 331. There is just not anything else that it could be.
That said I'm not willing to pull it without some confirmation. Maybe somebody here with more EE experience can tell us for sure.
I don't get my nexus 4 until tomorrow, maybe once I have it I can get the charger to beep and listen for where the sound is coming from.
Apologies for being slightly OT (although I'll be looking to do this when I get mine).
I'm struggling to find a supported voltage range in any specifications for this pad - I'm UK based and need either an adaptor or convertor depending on the range.
Could someone who has one let me know what the specs are please?

The 4 little rubber feet on the bottom pull out and there are 4 small Phillips screws underneath.
I had to use a small screw driver to pry up on the feet, it felt like they might rip but they all came out undamaged. Once those screws are out the top and bottom are still held together by a couple of snap-tabs in the middle of the long sides. I was able to get them apart with a little prying and again nothing broke even though it felt like it might. The PCB is held on by 4 obvious Phillips screws.
Sorry I don't have any pictures and can't take any until after I get home from work later.

I've tried putting my finger over different parts of the PCB and the letting it beep, including "331", and nothing I do lessens the volume. That's why I'm baffled on what part is the actual speaker.
The part labled 331 looks like an choke/inductor to me. I wouldn't remove it...
edit: do you have a picture of the other side of the PCB?

The only things on the back side of the PCB are the two LEDs at the top. I am beginning to think that the sound is coming from the coil itself, like it is performing double duty as a charging coil and as a speaker coil.
BTW, I got my phone today and can confirm (as has been said elsewhere) that this charger works perfectly for charging the nexus 4. Well... expect for the loud beeps.

Red 64 gig turbo!

my red battery cover showed up today. I love the ballistic nylon, but the fraying was sending my OCD into overdrive lol case anybody was wondering, as most would figure that fits the 64 gig version perfectly. With the black power and volume keys it actually looks better than the factory version I think. I'll post some pics later when I have a second camera available.
Nice! Did the adhesive make it difficult to remove the original back?
Where did you buy it?
I trust you're going to share a pic or two with us... Congrats!
Yes I would like to see some pictures. Was it hard to get the back off? Does it adhere to the back alright? Did it come with led's for the flash?

Lol ya. I got over excited. I'll post some tonight with my Wifes phone .
So about the adhesive. No its not to hard. The top corner clips are the hardest part. Its hard to get them to pop loss and I was worried about damaging the frame.
I ordered it from eBay. Google droid turbo battery cover, it should pop up in shopping. Mine was 25 but I saw one for 19 yesterday.
The fit is really tight and clean. I have to admit, I never looked at the mgf models because I wanted 64 gigs. But wow it feels great in the hand. I am so pleased with it! My only concern is how it holds up. The bn is pretty much scratch proof. The mfg model is basically Kevlar with a soft touch clear coat. But that's OK, I ordered another one as a backup. I also ordered a second bn back to experiment with. I want to try and remove the bn and try leather! But that's a another project.

If you talking about that black rubber pad in the teardown video. That's just a guard to protect the charging coil from the battery cover. In the tear down video the guy made it seem like you have to be very careful with that. It's just a piece of rubber. And I actually detact the side of it facing the back plate. So that it only stuck to the phone. I used lint lol
That's actually a good point. So, if you end up doing this. When you take the back plate off, That black piece of rubber that's protecting the coil. You're going to want to make sure that not sticky on the part facing the battery cover. Once you remove the back plate the adhesive strength of it is going to be weaker. So if you don't make it not sticky, when you put the phone back together everytime you touch that spot it could make a noise and be quite irritating. Plus I'm not sure if the curvature between the two battery covers is the exact same.

Not possible. There is no international red version, so therefore there is no red version without the Verizon logo. I don't know how hard it would be to remove. I think its laser etched. I was actually giving that a thought.. How I can remove it lol

I'd love to go to the red cover so I can use one of the magnetic car mounts. Are there instructions on taking the back off?
Edit: I picked up the red one for $19 on eBay. after I saw the teardown video. Seems stupidly easy to replace. Can't wait to get this so I can install a ProClip car mount for the Turbo. I love the BN back, but the fact very little works with it makes it useless IMO.
