Lg g3 att d850 the features it don't have that the t-mobile lg g3 version do - G3 General

1. Cloud settings in both music & galley apps to allow your dropbox account to sync with your apps.
2. Camera apps doesn't allow tap to shoot
3. The status bar doesn't have brightness & volume controls.
4. The bootlooder isn't unlocked. This one is a giving because all att phones comes locked down.
5. The keyboard doesn't allow adjustment unless you go in the keyboard settings to do it.
Anyone have anything else to add to the list?

The camera does allow tap to shoot. Just remove the on screen buttons first.

I assume you don't have WiFi calling but that's more of a carrier limitation than the phone.

Thank you didn't know that.

I've actually had the brightness and volume sliders show up in the notification pull down a couple of times. It goes on and off. I think it's a bug.

seems that way from what i have been hearing. i know the tmobile version will work on att...just does not have ALL of the LTE bands. I'm hoping for a bootloader unlock pretty soon since the tmobile one already is...may be easier

The sliders show up when u play music or in a call or in a game.

My friend's T-Mo G3 doesn't have the ability to download more fonts or download/change themes. Not sure if that is really a plus or not for the AT&T device since you're limited to the LG Smart World for these, but for a UI that was advertised as being more customizable that is a pretty glaring omission. Wonder what is up with that.

i'm pretty glad the att version doesn't have the volume and brightness sliders (i'm assuming they're always there on the tmo?) as the quick settings ribbon takes enough space on its own.
tmo bootloader being unlocked doesn't necessarily mean att one will be easy, look at the samsung devices

I don't mind it either now that I have seen how they work. They are there when playing music (volume only) or watching a video.

yea, it's a decent implementation, even though i'd rather it be gone entirely since i personally don't see the point when there's hardware buttons to control volume and auto brightness. but it's not as bad as the g2 and all samsung devices are

Sounds like you're talking about the pop-up ones, those are completely different, that's part of base Android. The sliders in the notification shade are the ones we're talking about, the AT&T model doesn't have them, T-Mobile model does, but they can be disabled.

Thoughts on possible Honeycomb enhancement

Has anyone else found it a bit cumbersome on the Xoom to change the audio volume all the time with the manual buttons or even use the hard buttons to trigger the volume slider to appear? I think it would be a huge perk if a volume slider would be included on the music app and even in the settings popup in the corner like the brightness? Thoughts / opinions from others? I wanted to see if others would see value in this to take it to google for an potential future enhancement.

i agree! i'm using the motorola cover and changing the volume sucks. if it could be used as a slider in the notifications bar that would be awesome.
They should make it to where you can pick what shows up on the notification pop up. I would like to see toggles for bluetooth, wifi added a volume slide just like the display settings. If you could pick which settings showed there that would be a huge +1 And the ability to resize the widgets with out needing a new launcher installed (LP+ ADW).
There is a solution to the Volume issue mentioned in the OP.
There's an app for that!™
It appears you can also put it in the task bar.
I'm so used to having skins on top of android (sense, touchwiz) that I kind of feel the need of having one on top of honeycomb. I admit that HC the way it is looks so frigging naked. The media player is dull, and the widgets are boring. IMO.

OTA Annoyances

Not sure whether I'm the only one but there are a few things that really bugging me with the OTA:
1) Auto-brightness now just always keeps me at the lowest brightness. I prefer the auto but not if its going to make my screen always dark.
2) The camera actually seems to take not as good pictures for some reason. Everything looks more washed out, especially in low light cases.
3) The default black background worked with all programs, and the white just doesn't. For example FPSE: when you are picking from a list of roms if the list doesn't go all the way to the bottom then where there are things to pick from its black and below it its white. Titanium Backup has the same thing below the list of schedules. It is frekin ugly and just doesn't look right like it did before.
4) The top bar icons just don't look as nice as the old ones.
5) Talking over the phone everyone sounds quiter and grainer

I've noticed that low light pictures suck now.
I'm not having the same low light picture issues.
Also, if some apps look bad because of the new theme, those app makers should fix their apps. If just one app inherits the new color-schemes, all apps can. Some programmers are not using "best practice" techniques in this case.
For example, they manually set the background color and font color, rather than inherit from the colors from the system. Should be a simple fix for them, if they care.

For those that don't mind using Bluetooth, I highly recommended the Motorola H720.
This headset isn't that expensive, and IMHO it greatly enhances the call quality on ALL of my Android phones.

Daneren, I agree the new color theme is horrible. The color and symbols on the notification bar really bad.

This is why I think Motorola should have put the new exposure setting onscreen instead of in the menu settings. That setting makes a huge difference in picture quality, and I have to adjust it way too much for it to be in menu setting.
I am disapointed with a few things also. Low light pics seem effected, I cant tether anymore, my quadrant standard score is 300-800 lower consistantly now, there is an annoying lag when I unlock with the slider, and I prefer the top bar icons with 2.2.2.

If you're rooted wifi tether for root seems to work fine for me.
I'd rather do that than manually dig around sql files and possibly bork something (as per the mod in the dev section).
As a formed N1 user I miss my vanilla android sometimes
To add to that
-home screen seems to be less responsive
- battery indicator inaccurate
Haven't tested a lot. Will take time to test all the options and features.
However the new keyboard seems to be an improvement though.

thx doesn't work, over to winamp.
Would prefer stock (lockscreen features, less bloat/ram)
Car dock became atrocious. You now can only add 4 apps to it, the rest is either close button (two of that), and stupid music player functionalities (music player, internet radio, podcast player) or voice search.
I also have ran into the issue with the battery indicator.

[Q] Verizon LG G2

Hello! I am curious on a feater of the LG G2 im heartset on it and my only concern is that you cannot get the brightness toggle in your notification bar? I am aware that the ATT version and international have it out of the box and was curious if there is an option anywhere in the phone to activate it on the verizon G2?
Thanks in advance!
I have not seen a mod for it yet. I also like having the slider on the notification bar or status display but it's because I never use the auto brightness on other phones.
The G2 has an adjustable auto brightness. I set the auto brightness to the level I like and I have not messed with it since. The adjustable auto brightness is a rarely talked about but very useful feature of the G2 for me. It is a little bit slow making it's adjustments but that doesn't bother me. Overall, it does an excellent job of keeping the brightness at a level I would pick if I were adjusting it myself.
Mine has it...
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app
Mine has the toggle too, but since the other carriers have the slider and Verizon doesn't, I was guessing the question was about that.
Yeah after reading your post I became confused about what the question was. It wouldn't let me edit my post though.

Verizon has it. Its not on the bar by default, IIRC, but you can edit the bar contents and enable the button, along with a whole slew of others. You can take off things like QuickRemote, QSlide, etc. as well, which some people have said they don't want.
There are so many settings and tuning methods for this phone, I haven't needed any mods at all yet. The only one I'm thinking of doing is the nav bar mods to hide when not needed or change button combinations.
Thanks!
thanks for the help guys

Pulling down notification bar problem!!!

Hi you all!
I'm so disappointed that after months there's still no stand-alone app which is able to pull down the notification bar and the quick settings of my device since the Lolliflop upgrade. I've downgraded once (was forced to upgrade again), contacted developers, today Samsung's customer support. What's left to do? Do I really need to downgrade once again? Is it really that hard to write an app like this?! Where are the developers?! Please help!
Many greetings

This is good because space isn't wasted when for example u r using navigation...
But it would be good to be able to get notification bar down from the edge so that location can be turned on quickly when using navigation...
Thought this app would do it... but only works in portrait.

Feedback Thread: Tell Honor What You Want in Future Software Updates!

Feedback Thread: Tell Honor What You Want in Future Software Updates!
How is everyone enjoying their Honor 8? I was curious about what everyone wanted to see in future updates or maybe the next version of the phone.
Some things I'd like to see
Android 7.0
App Drawer
More Theme Options
Power plan scheduler as said by @Droiderr at http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/power-plan-scheduler-t3482030
App drawer,
Good reflective design aesthetics,
Better RAM Management without closing more recently used apps,
Default VoLTE support and support for all LTE bands in that region.
I would like to see android 7.0 for sure
And I know it may just be me but I would like the phone on just standard android not emui.
My only other gripe is ram management and the way it handles closing recent apps.
To use smart keys for home, back or app switch
1. Better screen calibration by default.
2. Double tap the screen to wake.
3. Extend the functionality of the smart key. Eg. -While the screen is on, tapping on the fingerprint will function as back key. This is usefull for app that use full screen such as browser.
-Tap and hold to turn off the screen. This is a feature that is available on meizu device which is very useful. No need to press, just tap and hold the fingerprint and boom the screen turn off.
4. Performance and smart powerplan shortcut on the shortcuts tab. Might as well add 720p(rog mode) toggle.
5. Better camera interface. The current interface seriously need some redesign! Why the hdr is seperated from auto mode? The pro/manual mode uses ring adjustments which is annoying. Why not a simpler like a straight horizontal line for focus, exposure time,wb,iso adjustment?
6. Fix the damn camera settings! Whenever I open up the pro mode, the auxiliary light always turned on. It doesnt save my setting! Same goes to the image adjustment.
1080p stabilization without losing so much quality of the video. It looks worse than a normal 720p video.. and ability to zoom in the videos with using all the 12mp sensor, not just 'software zoom'
7.0
Better ram management
Better notifications! Quick reply from notification shade, not just in heads up.
Lockscreen improvements, reply from lockscreen
Update themes from theme app. So I don't have to go download the updates themes and put them in theme folder
I would like to see Android 7.0.1 as soon as possible.
Need to be able to change the notification volume independently of the ring volume, just like on my old Galaxy S5. Notifications should be on the volume list with its own slider!
center clock mod.
ambient display and double tap to wake.
