[Q] Sim Card Removed Error apparently after updating to 4.4.4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Since I've updated my nexus 4 to 4.4.4, I'm having this issue too frequently. After every 4-5 hours I get this error (image below) When this error arises, all my phone signals would go down and I need to restart my phone at least twice to get back the signals ! Can anyone help me solving out this issue ? is it related to hardware or software the new update ?

Pretty unlikely to be software, try another SIM in your phone, if it works fine ask your network for a replacement SIM. If it doesn't it could be your SIM reader is damaged.

Was just wondering why it starts working once I restart the phone ! If there was some hardware related issue, it shouldn't be working.?

Mine also happens after battery drops certain level like 40% and in few min phone switch off and battery dies.
After restart you see same battery level or reduce drastically?

[Q] Is there a GPS Hardware fix for spica?

So i read the 'CORRECT Hardware GPS Fix' for samsung SGS, and i thought: This should be possible for the spica as well..
The SGS contact:

}
Considering that the gps contact on SGS looks the same as on the spica, it should work just bending it.. I've tried gently bending it up just a bit, with no progress. I'm thinking of opening up the spica bad boy again and bend it up some more.
Has anyone else tried this? Does anyone know if this is possible?
Unfortunately GPS behaviour on Spica is related with baseband and rild libs (mostly libsec-ril.so), for some combos of baseband and libsec-ril GPS works fine, for some it barely works.
I didn't try hardware fixes, but XXIL2 baseband with XXJF2 libsec-ril.so makes GPS working fine (up to 8 sattelites fixed, fix time under 1 minute without clear sky)
Thanks gen_scheisskopf,
So basically, i should re-flash my phone to XXIL2 baseband and use the libsec-ril.so (which u put in system\lib, right?)
EDIT: Ah ok i noticed there's a zip file which u install in recovery mode after you've flashed the phone to the correct baseband version.
thx,

I can't say if xxil2 baseband will work for you for sure, be prepared to experiment with others also.

I tried it and it's working!

Phone reboots/shuts down

Hello you all peeps
I noticed some weired things happening to my phone. Sometimes when I want to use my phone I need to put in my PIN, never realised what it was.
10 minutes ago I received a text message, i read it and ploooops, my phone was rebooting out of nothing. After that my phone is working again, but watch this:

}
There's just a part gone, I know it was there before the reboot. Now i realize that i already had this issue a few times before.
Does anybody know where this strange thing come from?
Oh, I am running Litening rom with CF kernel, not sure if i had this issue before flashing the rom.
I had exactly the same thing on KE7. My phone rebooted itself at least once a day. I tried uninstalling and disabling all the apps I could think of but nothing resolved it.
Eventually, I performed a factory reset which has resolved the issue - it's now been running for 3 days without a reboot.
I had a spontaneous reboot only once - phone was overheating due to well, me messing around :-D
Check if heat is not a problem du to a runaway process
The heat is not a issue since it rebooted too when i didn't use the phone.
I deleted some Samsung bloatware too, perhaps that is the problem. Will do a factory reset, but not for now.
Good(?) to hear I'm not the only one with this problem
Same problem here, but i think it's related with the known bug of "suspend" and events/0 process and there is nothing to do but waiting for a fix :/

Black screen of death since 5.1.1

Ok guys it started since I migrate to 5.1.1 ROM, flashed clean DN 0.3 note 5 port, and the phone would just go black at least once per day, nothing seems to work even a hard restart (volume up + power button for 20 sec) only a battery pull would restart the phone. So I figured it must be the ROM ( noone in DN 0.3 thread seems to have this problem) . So I flashed the original 5.1 firmware for my country, rooted it and used it for a day to find out it does the same! I'm really not sure what seems to be the culprit. I couldn't find a conclusive pattern on the bsod however last time I noticed it happened right before I was disconnected from public wifi, perhaps it is the modem? Maybe it's root and bootloader conflict with 5.1 firmwares? (the phone boots up, so it cannot be bootloader? Or I don't understand something about what bootloader does?) Any one has encountered the same problem? Any clues on how to fix it?
Just happened again while wifi connection was weak and I think it happens right before it got disconnected or switched to other connection mode or different wifi
Read around the forums that people are having bsod in combination with Tasker and secure settings to switch off secure keyguard, I never use this option, just use Tasker to automate sync processes, Uninstalled it nevertheless. Will see if it helps
Happened again... Noticed that the battery percentage drops quote significantly after the battery pool, here is the screenshot

galaxy s5 rare charging problem

hey guys,
i have the wiredest problem.
i've phurched a new galaxy s5 and when i connect it to the charger, a charging icon appears but the battery % dosent go up, only down.
i've downloaded many battery analysing app and theey all seem to think that everything is fine, that the current flows and all, but the % dosent go up!
i switched a battery and a cable and its definitly a phone problem (i can charge the battery in another phone)
some suggested that i sould replace the charging port but it looks completly new and fine, and also cost quite a lot of money to replace.
is there any other soultion?
thanks!!
Sorry I encountered the same problem on my old s3. I finnaly solved the probleme by changing the micro hdmi port. Sorry I know you won't here this but i search everything. I replace myself it's not so hard. I do it because my s3 was in ending life.
It does sound like the charger port.....
The replacement parts aren't that expensive (under £10 off eBay).
Just make sure you get the right one....
Look at the pictures......

These parts are device variant specific......
It would probably be a good idea to match 'rev' versions too.....that was certainly the case with the S2....If the wrong rev version board was put in, it led to signal problems etc......

S4 fix for "sim not present please restart your device" FIX!

I've seen several posts here & there regarding this issue but I haven't seen a good detailed post explaining how to resolve it.
Please be aware this won't fix sim errors associated with flashing different ROMS etc. Nor will it fix any hardware issues connected to not reading your sim card. But what it can do is offer a fix for us S4 owners who get tired of the pop up dialogue box problem stating there is no sim card present when there actually is.
This as far as I have read is down to some improper elemental mix in the material manufacturing process at some Samsung production sites.
Well whatever it is it's just about one of the biggest pains in the a$$ when using your phone. So this may not work for all but I myself buy, sell & repair phones & I've had many come through my hands with this problem. Even my own S4 started doing it but this fixed it for me. Some of my customers had written off their device until I showed them this. But like I said it may or may not work for you so you can at least try it. It ain't complicated in anyway so just follow the pics below.
Hopefully it will help anyone who has this issue. :good:
