Is Unlocked now? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Called sprint today and asked to sim unlock the s4. they sent some request to my phone UICC unlock. followed instructions and it says its unlocked. i want to use it outside USA on GSM. is that it? it s unlocked?

Sounds like it. You can pop Inna T-Mobile or ATT Sim and if you DONT get "Sim card error" popup then you are unlock internationally.

AT&T locked phone asking for unlock code on AT&T sim card

I got an 8525 locked to AT&T (I believe) network. When I put in my AT&T sim card, it gives me this message:
SimLock
Network is locked. Please input unlock code.
Do I need to unlock the phone or does it refer to something else?
this is amazing

I guess it's a weird problem, I'm sure the phone was locked to AT&T, maybe my 4yo sim card was the problem (first twas ATT, then Cingular, then ATT again).
Anyway, doesn't matter now as Pof's unlocker http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665 worked like a charm!

Unlocking ATT Atrix 4G question.

I called ATT and gave me my unlock code for my Motorola Atrix. I used a Tmobile sim card, entered the code. And it said Network unlocked successful. So do I need to enter the code every time I use a non-ATT sim or it is unlocked forever?
And if I do an update, would it still be unlocked, or would I need to re-enter the code.
Thanks.
It is permanently unlocked.
Your good to go

Samsung s7 edge 935T t-mobile phone unlocked but at&t network or sim card issue?

I have an edge that is unlocked by tmobile.. in the app, permanent unlock (tmobile unlock app), it says.. "unlock failed" but below says permanently unlocked, unlock approved.. my understanding is this is a normal message.
When i went to the ATT store to test a sim.. they use their live sim, put it in, try to make a phone call but simply said it didnt work, isnt unlocked, which i dont think is right.. issue is i didnt see what if any error message there was.
Is there some step that the att rep should have done to get this on the att network besides putting it in the phone?
Thanks in advance for any info
edit: appears a special sim is needed, at least according to an online rep.. i was told to have them look up the IMEI with the MyCSP tool in the store to determine which sim.

How to unlock without the device unlock app?

Hi All - I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 from someone else. It worked fine when I was with T-mobile but when I moved to another network and popped in a new SIM, it asked me to "Enter network unlock code". I figured it must be locked to T-mobile so I reached out to them. They said my account met all the unlock criteria and said they'll send me instructions via email. I got the email two days later saying I need to use the "Device Unlock App". However, there's no such app on phone and there's no way to install it either (its not in the Play Store). I went back to T-mobile and they said since the device wasn't purchased through T-mobile, its not be a T-mobile "branded" phone. My questions are:
1. If its not a T-mobile branded phone, why does it only work on the T-mobile network? I checked its not rooted. It doesn't have any T-mobile apps and doesn't show any splash screen with the T-mobile logo.
2. Someone said that Samsung GS8 locks to the network of the first SIM you put into an unlocked phone. Is that true?
3. T-mobile says they've "whitelisted" my IMEI, so if I can somehow get the Device Unlock app I may be able to unlock it. Any idea how I can do that? Do I need to flash the firmware and install the T-mobile version or is there another way.
Thanks!
If you need to app, you can try here: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-14011
However, as your phone is asking for the unlock code, the app might work but not unlock your phone.
You really need to do a network check and see which network is your phone actually locked. If your phone needs unlocking code, you might need factory level codes.
I think you should visit :

930A Flashed with 930U Unlock Question

I have a ATT 930A that I successfully flashed with 930U and it works great. I was thinking of making sure it was SIM unlocked in case later I wanted to sell it, so I made a request of ATT for the unlock code but when I try it it tells me the unlock was unsuccessful. Do I need to go back to 930A to make the code work?
Probably yes
I don't think so. Just put in a non AT&T SIM and it's gonna ask for an unlock code

I did but the code att gave me didn't work.
So did the phone prompt for a SIM unlock code and you typed it in, got an error? What is the error? SIM lock should not change when you flash different ROMs yo the phone.

Yes, after entering the code it says "incorrect network unlock code entered"
I had this problem with my S7. I had paid off my contract however every time I tried input my IMEI number to the AT&T unlock device website it would tell my my IMEI is invalid. i contacted AT&T customer service directly and gave them my informatio. They had to put the case in for the unlock code themselves. Reason was since i didn't finish the 2 years even though i paid off my contract it got lost in the system hope this helps
