Gaana+ on moto E - Moto E General

Hi,
I have a moto E and have been using Gaana+ on this. While the app was moved to SD card, all the download is still having on the internal storate, this is taking hit on the internal storage.
Can anyone tell me a way around this, i.e., to move this data to SD card and still enjoy the music?
I have a non-rooted device. Thanks

Marshmallow and SD cards

It's going to interesting when we get Marshmallow and the option for internal memory to be extended by the (normally slower) SD card. How does this work - anyone using Marshmallow on another phone?
Does storage in the SD card act as an 'overflow' for internal memory? When content/apps end up there, it presumably can slow down access to the apps/content?
What happens if the SD card is removed and some (or even some part?!) of an app happens to reside of the SD card? Does it crash the phone?
This might explain it a bit
Thanks. The bit I (still) don't understand, then, is how you determine where apps, app data, and user data wind up in future.
So I install an SD card as internal memory extension... install a new app... when the app wind up? Where does its data wind up?
You don't determine anything, the choice is taken out of your hands and everything goes on to what is now the internal storage.
Yea

Not able to move music/Photos to SD (formatted as internal)

Hi i got my Moto x style (32gb) yesterday. I bought a new 32gb SanDisk ultra (uhs-1) SD card and formatted as internal as soon as it is inserted for the first time. I am running marshmallow.
1. I am not able to move my music to SD card. Everytime when I move music from Pendrive (via otg) to /sdcard/Music using ES explorer, it always fills the phone internal memory rather than SD card (formatted as internal).
2. Similarly in the camera app, I don't even see an option (from options ring) to chose the destination (SD card).
Due to this, my music, videos and pics are all in internal memory though I am able to move apps from internal memory to SD card by going to settings->storage & usb option.
Can anyone pls help me? Thanks

Alright. I tried the other option by formatting the SD card to portable instead of internal this time and now, I can move pics, videos and music from internal to portable SD card and vice versa however apps can't be moved to SD card.
Is this how moto x style behave? Either you can use your SD card (as portable sd) for storing videos, music and pictures but not for installing apps or the other way around by using only for apps (as internal) and not for videos/pics/music.
Can anyone confirm? Is there anyway SD card can be used for apps and as well as video/pics/music?
Thanks for going through this thread. Appreciate if someone can provide inputs.

Internal SD Space

I just reflashed stock MM on my Moto X Play, and I am wondering wether I can somehow move my apps and folders reliably on my SD card, since the internal space is really small. I've tried Apps2SD, but couldn't format my SD card right as my Moto would not accept my SD card after creating the Partitions. Does someone have another solution for moving apps/folders to the SD or did someone manage to get Apps2SD working on stock 6.0.1 MM ?
P.S.: I do not want to format my SD as internal.

LG Leon H345 T-Mobie Androd 5.1.1. Install apps to SD Card?

My wife's phone is out of space for apps and I want to know if there is a way to have it use the SD card to install apps? I know on my Moto E 2015 with Cyanogenmod the SD card can be used as internal memory for app storage. Can the same be done to this phone?

One query about adoptable storage in Nougat

Guyz one small help. 2day i formatted my sd card as internal storage on my g4+ then I had to copy all the files that were present before formatting sd as internal (i had taken backup before formatting) but when I connected my ph to pc after formatting I was able to see only phone storage so I copied everything in it having no other optionz then in ph storage settings I kept those files to be moved to sd card so it's been around more than 20 minutes moving is stuck at 27% ! What should I do now?? Ow crap i can't even post the screenshot as the system is detecting the storage is busy

When you format it as internal, it will not show your SD card because it's considered as internal storage itself.
That's literally what the function does.
For eg you have 32GB as phone internal storage and if you formatted your 16GB card as internal you would have 32+16 GB as your total storage.
And yes it would show you as Internal Storage as the SD card is now considered part of it.

If you don't have a high quality sdcard with U3 (not just high read but also high write speeds) then it make take a long time. I've just done this with my wife's Moto G4 and I gave up. It started moving but hung. I ordered a PNY Elite sdcard with 90Mb/s write speed. That worked much better and it moved stuff to the internal formatted sdcard.
One thing that is important is that it takes some time before it reports the entire internal storage that includes both phone plus sdcard storage. A reboot will help as well to have the sdcard be recognized by running apps.
That is just my experience. Your problem may be different.
The usual junk speed (or even normal speed) cards won't cut it as adapted storage. You need a card with minimum "UHS-I Speed Class 3". That's usually 90MB/s read and 80MB/s write average speeds. See the attached table.
The internal memory on the phones is much more performant than the average SD, that's why is more expensive when buy it in the phone (like when switching from 16 to 32 to 64GB internal, if everything else would stay equal).
PS: Some of the cheap chinese cards that are sold on eBay are really bad fakes, or just plain rejected cards from real manufacturers (meant to be destroyed but stolen and re-sold) and that storage will fail almost immediately.
I had this same issue. I sent my old SHIELD tablet back for RMA and got a new one. I got a new official samsung SD card, popped it in and formatted it to internal. So when I did that, it didn't combine the SD card with internal storage like it was supposed to. It just disappeared. 7.0 gives you the option to format it back to portable storage. So I did that and the SD card is usable again, but as separate storage :-/
something is definitely wrong.
