Android l - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the developer preview of Android l is available. Does this mean the Cyanogenmod team have it and will "hopefully" release CM12 or whatever number we're on?

No, because the source code has not been released. You need to wait until the autumn.

So....since this has now been ported to a variety of other different devices including one of the hardest devices to port things to (HTC One M7) is this actually a possibility for us Note 3 users??

Someone tried and reported that it is near impossible without a bootloader update from Samsung.
Anything is possible, but you should ask, if anyone wants to spend countless hours porting a preview ROM instead of the final ROM.

It looks nice !!
I too am really interested in seeing Flyme OS on our Nexus 4. I had contacted a developer that had worked on Flyme OS and he explained that we would have to wait for a Android 4.2 version of Flyme OS.
Flyme OS was already ported to the Galaxy S2... Too bad I moved on. hehe. I doubt it'll be very complicated to do once a 4.2 version is out...
Aw, i want it to much! Dreaming about Flyme on my Nexus 4 after using MX2. Hope, it will be ported some day...
I hope someday to have a rом or port for us too

Without them releasing the kernel source so devs can get things working I doubt you will see it ported.

I ported it to Nexus 5 actually.
It booted and everything except Wi-Fi, Camera and sound was working.
So once those issues are fixed, someone should be able to use it as a base for Nexus 4 port.

HTC might Release AOSP Rom for current HTC One users

Nothing confirmed yet, but the future holds a very bright and good ending. Besides, i don't see any reasons why HTC wouldn't do this...considering they would only release 50k units of the HTC ONE Nexus.
This is definitely a win-win for both consumers and HTC.
Here's the article i just read: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_might_release_aosp_rom_for_current_htc_one_owners-news-6132.php
I would love it as I would never root my phone.

It's not entirely a win-win. I read that in order for HTC to release such an update (providing AOSP to all normal HTC One owners), they have to go trough every carrier and other legal stuff. I don't remember where I read it and I don't remember exactly what the article said, but the conclusion I remember: it would cost HTC time & money (and stress, probably) to release an AOSP rom for current HTC One owners.
I hope they do it though. Would be awesome!
edit: Ah, I think I just remembered something. They have to go through every carrier because otherwise the AOSP Rom (update) would not be able to legally use the mobile networks of the carriers or something...
hopefully they'd be able to release an aosp rom for carrier unlocked phones without any legal ramifications.
do you think this will pave the way for future android phones to be released with stock android and the specific manufacturer apps (zoe, sense, touchwiz, etc) to be added as separate apps? this would surely cure the 'fragmentation' of android that iPhone users are always complaining about.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
It will not be an ota. It will prolly be an ruu, available for developer edition and maybe unlocked international versions. No carrier approval needed
When we have s-off anyone(gsm, anyway) should be able to flash it.
It's kind of neat, but not that big of a deal. You can always run cm if you want AOSP.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat

What do you think about the new android version. In my opinion, it's great , with better UI( if the leaked photos are true) , less RAM usage and new kernel. What do you think about the S2? Will Samsung update our phone ? In my opinion Samsung will not update the S2 or the Galaxy Ace or Mini...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No they will not update our phone. And im also not too sure about new kernel. We do have dorimanx kernel which is light years ahead of most kernels... We have 3.12.rc1 while the Nexus have 3.4?
I don't thing Samsung will just think about updating the S2
It's an old device, it still an amazing device though
But updating it will not benefit Samsung
So no updates

4.2.2 and 4.3 are full of bloatware...that's why our s2 can't run it....in fact 4.4 will be slimmer...Most of the sites, say that android 4.4 will be released in October 14, which in my case is tomorrow....

Huh I find no issue with 4.2.2, its the best thing yet! We have spent so much time optimzing 4.2.2 that it is so stable and usable. Fast forward to 4.3 which is much newer we have spent much less time on it so for sure it is not as good. However I dont understand which part of either these versions, 4.2.2 or 4.3 is bloated care explaining? Even if Android 4.4 has so called less RAM usage and kernel improvements it would not really matter to us. Take kernel changes for example. We can't just port AOSP code and use it for our devices correct? Remember the time when we only had official 4.0 and 4.1 was released by Google. Everybody wanted Project butter. Due to Sammy not giving us official 4.1 and its source code on time (thank god they actually gave the source code..) we would never have gotten close to full project butter experience which we still lack fully. So if Sammy does not give us what we need then we can use 4.4 without its so called perks like "less RAM usage"
Yeah 4.4 should have lower hardware requirements. However, it doesn't matter because our exynos device still lacks proper drivers. That's worsen by the fact that we currently have no Galaxy S2 devs left working on CM to port new android versions to our device

TouchWiz is horrible
This phone, the screen, battery and cpu are WOW, but TouchWiz is horrible. The Pull down menu... 1/3rd of it is taken up by the time, settings buttons, toggle buttons, brightness and what WiFi I'm connected to.. the other 2/3rds? Taken up by 1 e-mail. Of course Samsung realizes people with a powerful business phone like this only get 1 message at a time so they make it nice and easy to read. So then the gallery... every time I'm in the gallery there is a yellow flower icon in the top left. Why? Samsung knows $700 top of the line pocket computer owners like bright flowers. The blank faces in messaging and contacts are downright ugly, seriously who approved that? Luckily I have Samsung Apps, Samsung Link, Samsung Hub and Samsung InApp Purchase to keep all this NFC S-Beam fist bumping super assistant S-Voice Jedi hand waving air command motion hover pen magic in order!
Everyday I check XDA in hopes of any news....
My Order:
1. MIUI
2. AOSP/CM
3. Sony
4. LG ?
5. HTC
6. Samsung
