A video that made me lol - there is better, faster, smoother than the G3 out there... - G3 General

There is a better, faster, smoother phone than the G3. I'm reconsidering my pre-order. What do you guys think?

Do it, but be faster, its limited edition :laugh:

Damn, the g3 got two pieced.

Mine is still somewhere in a box, but I will sum up in two words : physical buttons
It was one of the greatest phones ever made but playing extensive Snake sessions was deadly for these physical buttons

Do you own the phone? I do and it lags pretty bad, especially if you install a lot of apps. It feels pretty ok directly after a reset but soon it the S5 over again.

Sounds like you need to get that Nokia. Or you can switch over to the laggy s5. What phone does not have lag at one point or another? The m8 is the only phone I have ever had that never lags. I am looking at the phone purely because it has a huge screen and you can hang on to it with one hand. I couldn't do that with the note 3 and the m8 is just too big for such a small screen. It's just a phone it's not life. Some people here need to get one. A life that is.

Actually his video reviews of the G3 are quite good. He did a series of GTA3 San Andreas comparisons at maximum settings, the G3 blows everything else out of the water (S5, Z2, M8...)

People who possess nexus 4

For people who already have Nexus 4.....
1) How is the battery life. After reading a lot of reviews, it says that battery life is pretty bad.
2) How is the call quality?
3) Would you recommend upgrading from Galaxy Nexus (which one is better).
Thanks a lot in advance. I will be hitting 'thanks' button
Just Google it.
There's a 3 minute video when you register stating that you can just use the search function or just Google it.
Upgrading from GNexus is well worth it.
Call quality is decent.
It will get you through the day with mild use (Slight Gaming, Video, Browsing, Calling)
It IS a 2100 MaH, which the largest any Phone actually has, and you would be able to increase the battery life using a good Kernel and/or ROM.

Reviews dont give out all the information.
For example, someone got the device and posted on XDA on the 13th, said that the phones makes noises when you shake the phone.
He later found out that it is accelerometer that is making that sound. When went back to the store and checked all devices,
all of the phones made that same noice.

Wow I just tried shaking my Moto Backflip and Xperia Play, they both really do make noise when shaken! Yeah, this is totally a non-issue, as I never knew about this for the 2.5 years I've had the Backflip and the 1 year I've had the Play.

The phone is utterly fantastic.
Battery life is moderate.
Call quality is good
The experience of using the device, for any task, is a complete joy.
Ultimately it comes down to the price, and I say this reluctantly, because, since using it, the price seems almost like a secondary feature. Almost like "oh and this phone has NFC!"
But frankly for £279 it is so utterly beyond anything else out on the market today that I'd recommend it to any single person looking to get a smartphone.
When I got my galay s2 a fair while ago, I felt like it was exceptional value, for everything it offered and how much it was.
If the galaxy s2 was good value, then this phone is the epitome of value.
In every single way it screams valuable, that is in every way except the price. Buy It.

not sure 5 is exact but that how it was for nexus 7 but otg cable and root i can use 32gb flash, and i have a 16 and an 8 so get 16 use alot apps games and music. I had like 2 movies 200 songs and several large games in the 5 gig all about how you use it. I got the 8gb because i put 2 movies and few songs and maybe 1 or 2 big games i dont use alot of apps no issue for me. Plus I only had 300 dollars to spend anyway lol.
its 5.67 on the 8 gig model for users

Honestly, I don't see why people care about the "rattle." You have to shake the phone decently hard, and it's going to be inaudible when any other noise is present. It's not loud at all.

I must say, it certainly feels great in the hand! Premium feel like a certain fruity phonemaker's phones, not the cheap plastic of a certain Korean brand... The screen is gorgeously crisp, viewing angles are good, and the gaming and video playback is smoooooth
For those in singapore, there are 2 Z demo units at the Wisma Sonystyle.

It doesnt feel too big? I plan on getting this, instead of my iPhone 4. It's quite a jump from 3.5" to 5". Though I used to have an HD2, so it might just be a question of getting used to a much larger display.

I have a Nexus 4 which is a 4.7, the difference to a 5 will be minimal... most people I know that had iPhones and moved to larger Android devices had no complaints about it. Indeed quite the opposite...
The bets course of action is to go to a Sony store and see how it works for you.

Htc one first impressions/real world review thread

Ok so I FINALLY got my ONE today!! Happy to be one of the minority as not many people have this phone yet
After months of videos, articles, threads on xda and various articles the time is here.
These are my first impressions as I've had the phone for a good 12hours now. First time you take it out of the box is just WOW this thing is just quality...100% premium feeling and truly well crafted well done HTC. Its really light and it's quite tall (compared to my old desire hd).
When you turn it on you will be blown away/scared by how loud these speakers are, boomsound is not a joke people this is the real deal! Then listen to some music on this, it sounds awesome. There is even some bass in it which pleased me the most! Really, really loud I gurantee no need for dock or portable speakers.
The screen is mindblowing, especially when your coming from a device with 800x400 resolution like me. The difference is just incredible. Colours are vibrant and natural at the same time unlike the over saturated, way to contrast high colours on the AMOLED. Viewing angles are perfect and it's really bright, I had to turn it down because it stared burning my eyes :/ lol! Blacks are good and whites are good and not blue or yellow.
Sense 5 is just sexy as f***k <3 touchwiz has no comparison against this tbh! Everything looks sleek and very clean. No bloat and actually is better than stock...stock is just too plain imho. I don't like some things like the new way to move apps to your homescreen from the app drawer. The three dot menu but hopefully HTC fix that in an update, if not then I'm going to root this so that's cool. Blinkfeed is ok, I can see that it won't be liked by everyone. I'm already slightly bored of it! When HTC let us add sources I can see this being a success, I know I'd use it more if you liked the hundred plus widget selection of the past HTC sense versions then you may not like that a lot of the widgets are gone! I think this is a good thing I can see that HTC are trying to make you use blinkfeed as your homescreen and the app drawer as the traditional type home screen by alloowing you to make folders.
Regarding music, beats audio is classed as a gimmick and the headphones as overpriced. I agree on the second claim and used to think the same for beats audio before. But it seems as if they have actually made it good and optimised it. It makes the speakers and music played through headphones MUCH MUCH better.
The notification light has pleased me also. It bright and is seen very easily.
The phone has been lag free. A major step up from my single core desire hd super fast, can have like 20 apps open with no lag at all. Multitasking is soo good.
I've already got used to the button layout. Only messed up like twice hopefully the HTC logo thing becomes a real thing.
The phone came with like 45% battery, (5.00pm) after HEAVY HEAVY usage as I'm sure everyone does when they get a new toy it does on me at 1.30am. So 8hours of constant hammerage seems reallllyyy good so far!! Havent gone through a proper cycle of charged it fully yet so can't say anything else on the battery.
However, the phone does tend to get a bit warm every know and then. Not like ohh it's burning but just slightly warm which is expected with most of these quad core beasts.
I took a couple of random pics with the camera, looking good so far but that's on the phones screen and just random ish. Haven't tested front facing cam or video recording yet.
Last point for now (I know I'm forgetting a lot of things)... The phone is quite slippery seeing as I am the only numpty who would end up dropping his phone from ABOVE WAIST HEIGHT within a couple of hours of use. To my surprise not even a scratch, nothing to be seen on the phone. Almost had a mini heart attack but it proved that it's well built
Ohh and the power button is kinda flush so hard to find at times but I'm already getting used to it. The screen also seems to be very good at hiding fingerprints
That's all for now, time to fully charge this badboy and get some sleep myself.

Do a test on the video camera at 1080p and review it on a pc.. Every review that has actually done a video test has looked like the FPS still drops in the low 20's which has been pretty typical of every HTC phone I've seen, especially in low light.

Will get the phone myself as well but these stories (20 apps open, really, how DO you know?!) are so useless, with all due respect

At the time Note 2 was released, these were killer specs and its still a very functional and modern phone. Full HD display is a buzzword of this time and frankly speaking I dont care about it that much. Note 2's display is sharp enough. Full HD display takes its toll on battery and CPU/GPU too.
Larger battery? Boss this is the first Android phone that I have owned which works without charging for two days with quite heavy use. They way you are saying it, even if they had given 5000 mah battery you would have been saying....bah! Only 5000 mah, it should have been 8000 mah at least
I know the more the better but there has to be an appropriate limit. Note 2 is arguably one of the best phones of its time and it still rocks. Sucks is a word you cannot use in its context.
No offence by the way buddy

Odd that he complaint slow exit app when he isn't closing an app. That's not the way to exit. That's just minimizing the app. The proper way is the back key which is common in all Android devices and even in Nokia Symbian phones.

The weight is perfect so it doesn't feel like a brick (LG Pro), speed is fast so it doesn't get the lag (S4), big without being too big with bezels (Sony Xperia Z Ultra), OS is complete butter so it is fast (Moto X), while it lacks the external speakers (HTC One) it makes up for it with better sound quality when using head phones. Camera is excellent and video doesn't have focus issues (LG G2). Hope that explains it a little better and compares it with every new phone out right now. I have owned all the phones and didn't mention the Lumia 1020 (great camera, terrible battery and OS missing apps), Xperia Z (love the waterproof but camera terrible, Xperia ZL, same as Z, S4 Active had excellent screen and all around better than the Sony Z line for me. iPhone 5s was same as 5 for me even tho I did like the fingerprint unlock and faster burst mode camera (but not worth the upgrade IMO). Have a good day.

I am. I've been watching people in the international N3 post what an "incremental" upgrade the N3 is over the N2. It's night and day. The look, feel, updated Samsung apps, the fluidity. I'm pretty happy. I haven't gotten it all set up yet and will post something more detailed once I do. I'm coming from an international N2 and was terrified what AT&T would do to their version. All of their apps can be disabled except for the Mobile Hotspot app which I'll need anyway. And I haven't found anything missing yet except the ability to disable the Mobile Data connection. So far so good.
Where are you guys getting the phone from? AT&T says I have to wait until tomorrow.

I pre-ordered. It was delivered FedEx about 1:00PM today.
we got our stock and demos in last night.. im in love. considering selling my s4 for this badboy now.
it definitely feels super nice in my hand, compared to the note 2. my first thought was, it felt like the original galaxy s2, the squarish feel. didnt like it right away but it has grown on me.
how does that plastic leather feel in your hand? Looks so cheesy in pictures..

i love this phone! also. i had it since OCT 2nd. and the pleather really does feel leathery . atleast ont he black version
This phone is most certainly an awesome upgrade. Just picked mine up last night in black. It's definitely more premium feeling as well, even though it's still plastic. Samsung did a great job with this device and i cant wait to start rooting and ROMing this phone out

Well. So far so good. It's a whole new world for me. I left Sprint for At&T after being with them for years. I'm on my first real Samsung phone after having every HTC since the Hero. I'm liking this phone a lot so far...but I do hope root access is gained eventually. There is a lot of carrier bloatware crap on this phone I'd like to ditch.
Happy new phone day everyone! Woohoo, am I psyched to play with my new phone. Now if work would just stop getting in the way of me having fun....and there was a custom recovery and root access...that'll come in time though, I'm sure.

I was amazed how light it is for the size, and the screen really pops. I look back at all the hand wringing about the PenTile display and realize how silly it was. Looks incredible.
