I've been falling behind in android workings in the last couple of years. There seems to be many different ways to flash rom these days and now that KNOX has become such an nuisance for thousands of samsung users, I'm really lost at this time.
Since introducing towelroot, me and many others have been able to root successfully note 3 android 4.4.2, so the question arise in my head that is there a way to flash custom rom without tripping knox? If so and there are more than one way, what are the easiest ways?
Mobile Odin Pro may be an option for this.
As long as you do not flash custom kernel or recovery in any way (be aware of ROMs that may do it), you shouldn't trip KNOX. Emphasis on "shouldn't", I can't give any guarantees.
I have been having the same question... Not that I care so much about the knox portion but in general it seems that roms aren't working on the 4.4.2 update, with NC4 anyway. I have my phone rooted and safestrap going which is about where I'm stuck till I get an answer.

Damn... so I cannot flash any custom kernel without tripping knox? I read before about not being able to flash custom recovery, but I was hoping to be able to change at least the kernel for something that supports overclocking now that I have root access.
This knox seems to be the biggest decease of the mobile world right now. I pay few hundred euros for basically pocket sized computer and I cannot choose myself what software to run on it?

Check This thread to see if you can root without mesing with KNOX
It doesn't matter what Samsung software is on the device when you exchange via the JUMP programme from what I am aware, so long as it's original Samsung TouchWiz
There's loads of ROMS for 4.3 and 4.4 - however the 4.3 are not updated so much now if at all - AllianceROM currently still support 4.3 and is a very good ROM - There is plenty now for 4.4 - and I mean plenty, @civato does some great kernels also and his ROM FlexKat is pretty great. - XNOTE is another big ROM for 4.4 as is Omega and SweetROM all of which are just great. You have to try them to get a feel of which you prefer though
Kernel flashing/Custom recovery flashing will indeed trip your KNOX. There is(was?) a method in the General section about how to do it safely via Mobile Odin PRO. but you'd have to read up on that.
As for the T-Mo counter, I cannot comment on that as I do not have an N900T however you can look @ the T-Mo forum for more answers which is HERE
Root De Late Vega will allow you to root without tripping Knox, provided that you do not update the phone.
After rooting you can use mobile Odin to flash 4.3 version MJ7 but you cannot update to KitKatt if you wish to keep both root and Knox 0x0. KitKatt has a new bootloader which is patched against the Vega exploit.
Sammobile.com is the place to find sock firmware. To Vega it you'll need the stock BMI7 firmware for your device to begin.
You must not flash any custom recoveries or kernels if you wish to keep Knox intact either.

Hello everyone. ive been searching these forums for quite a while and can safely conclude that theres no way for me (ATM) to root my note 3 without tripping knox.
i have a N9005 running the NC2 firmware, on 4.4.2
now i want to know is, if i flash a custom recovery and firmware ONLY, without flashing a custom ROM, can i still use KNOX (the app) ?
all i really want is root access, im quite happy with the ROM and performance ATM.

Any attempt to modify/temper the phone should render the Knox invalid thus Knox 0x1 as a flag that no Knox security warranty can be established on such devices.
Rooting is considered an attempt to modify the system.
So simple answer is No....
You root you can't use Knox app...
Hi, i think a lot of n900 users which are gonna be extremely happy if they can root their N900 without using CF-Root (No offense to Chainfire, he is one the best dev) since it will trip that stupid KNOX warranty bull**** (i would love to use custom kernels and don't even bother to trip the knox, but hey the parts for this phone aint cheap ).
I was thinking of downgrading to an earlier version of kitkat built before June. Then using towelroot to obtain root. Any ideas if it will work?
And yes i've searched the entire web for a way and this is the only possible way i can think of. The N9005 is rooted with the same approach, except instead of downgrading the whole phone, they downgrade the FW, root it using towelroot, and then upgrade to the stock FW.
Since i'm a noob in extracting the FW, on behalf of N900 users, we hope a dev can help. Btw i know most dev's out there need some coffee or beer (willing to donate)

I've had a fair amount of experience with android devices (starting with a G1) and with flashing roms, general tinkering, etc. At this point I'm on a T-Mo S5 and I've rooted/installed xposed on stock 4.4.2 (mostly to remove the small annoyances of TW and for the benefits of greenify/amplify) and this seems to be the extent of what I can do without tripping KNOX. I'd like to hear the opinions of others. Why do you believe it's worth it to go a step further from where I'm at now?

So recently, I've encountered the same Issue I've been having for a long time with any sort of Samsung device - performance. I find my device annoyingly slow. A factory reset fixes this but then the phone bogs down.
I've decided to look into potentially flashing a custom rom to see if they're far more optimised than the stock rom. The problem is, I'm a warranty freak. I like to keep my warranty intact and modify the device later on once the warranty has gone. Obviously, the Knox flag is a thing and I don't want to trip it.
When I had my One Plus 3, I had none of this and rooting/custom roms didn't bother me as it was covered in the warranty - this is a big no no with Samsung.
I'm not so much wanting to change the kernel or the bootloader or use TWRP - just install a new custom rom to hopefully get some performance gains and maybe root too.
TL;DR Is there a viable method to installing a custom rom without tripping Knox?

If you have a exynos version then its impossible this moment to have a custom rom without having twrp, which in turn will trip Knox and may effect warranty depending what currently in

Yep, the kind-of exploit is only on SD variant.
Although, it can be said that the exploit isn't that good as well, since you will be unable to flash custom ROM (only debloats etc IIRC).
So, they are unable to flash cutom kernel etc.
hi , what about installing custom rom with heimdall? no need for root, no need for twrp. will this triggger knox as well? does exynos/snapdragon matter in this scenario?
