[SOUND MOD] HTC BoomSound - Test Release - Nexus 5 Themes and Apps

Heres another audio mod for the nexus 5. tested on c-rom 7.1, seems to be a bit louder and bassier but would like feedback from others willing to try it, preferably on roms without other sound mods. I found it works well with viper
ps im using some cheap Philips earphones & noticed a small improvement but it could be a placebo effect

i will try it out but the problem with any audio mod is that there is not a 'on' and 'off' option so some people can't hear diference. but thanks

oops sorry, no restore function at the moment
a nandroid or backup is recommended. alternatively if u have rootexplorer or the like, backup or rename the system/libs/soundfx folder and system/etc/audio_effects.conf prior to install

updated with v2. would like some feedback to see if its working for others or whether its just placebo

@ dead0, OK I will give it a shot. Didn't notice anything changing with first build.
A few things to consider. I am always looking for good sound filters. I currently rate viperaudio fx newest with altering the audio.XML file in etc folder the best. (Volumeboost.zip in screenshot is by Audigod of SOKP Rom), Followed by Noozy player with Dolby Mobile and Noozoxide Pro and Beats Audio mod.
The filters are a mod and boosting sound volume values inside system seem to be the best way to go.
What does this mod of yours consist of?
Just filters or a updater script also to actually boost audio? Thanks!

its more of a filter with a slight boost. works best with faux sound mod in kernel and viperfx. unless my hearing is off, did notice a small boost with deeper bass

Works on Stock 4.4.4?

looking forward to more updates

[Q] Music volume is so low!!! Help?

So from November 2012 when I got my phone I have tried any thing came to my mind to solve this problem but nothing worked for me!!!
I'm very sensitive about music quality and I really can't stand this anymore!!! My volume is very low even when I crank it to the max!!! I mostly use my Dr Dre Studio headphones and sometimes my Beats Tours... I've tried several other headphones and didn't get any result
When I connect my Studio headphones to my laptop and I listen to the same track that I have on my phone it's super load like if I turn up the volume to the max I really go deaf!!! So I'm pretty sure it's not from my headphones... I know that the phone's amplifier is not as powerful as my laptop but still ... I think it is not normal, I also notice some other people have the same problem as me!!!
So these are the things I have tried already:
1. Using other mp3 player apps such as PlayerPro, PowerAMP, Winamp and .... none of them made any difference and the equalizer simply just mess up the quality of the track...
2. I have used all the mods like Beats Xlouder and such and they also just lowered the quality
3. All of my tracks are MP3 320kbps/flac audio format... still I tried to increase the audio using Audacity by amplifying the dB... It helped but not really noticeable.
Currently I don't have root access but if something can really help I'd be willing to root my device... like kernel or something! Please help
You'll need an HTC phone with Beats Audio to go along with your Beats headphones.

Please tell me you're being sarcastic...
Well...
A ) There's something wrong with your ear.
or
B ) You have a defective unit. My headphones are waaaayyyy too loud even at half volume. If it's really that bad, ask for an exchange unit. If you're adventurous, root and custom rom it. Might see a change.

Google Nexus 4 Volume low you can probably see people having the same problem I you think I'm lying
If you think you can help please give me a solution to my problem...
Imma be as descriptive as possible with my fix.
ROOT YOUR PHONE!
1. Install Trinity kernel. (Its the only kernel I've gotten this to work with)
2. Flash Misledz audio mod, keep up with the latest ones as in my opinion she really knows what she's doing and the quality gets better and better.
3. Once the mod is installed Titanium Backup / Rom Toolbox remove the 4 system apps installed by Misledz audio mod.
-Awesome beats, -Noozy Player, -Noozxoide, -Dolby Digital App.
4. Reboot wipe cache / dalvik in recovery, reboot.
5. Go to the market and download the latest Noozxoide, set up to your musical preference.
Now you can omit some parts such as keeping 3 of the apps, but I find awesome beats not to work at all, the libs in the mod does though. That's why I remove the apps. I listen to a lot of bass heavy music (rap / old school hip-hop). This method is a night and day difference in loudness and audio quality.
I genuinely hope this helps everyone.:good:
dude Awesome beats is the worst ... plus I'm not rooted any more
but I heard there is a kernel that increases the volume
Not awesome beats. Misleadz audio mod. Trinity kernel makes your audio louder naturally. With the audio mod trust me you'd give me an e-hug in gratitude (no homo). I had the same problem. This method I posted works.
I give it try thanks a lot

try lower impedence headphones?
and/ or a small headphone amp, eg. the fiio?

- Sensitive to music quality.
- Uses Beats.
- Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

Haha told ya!
What type of earphones or headphones do you use anyway? I'm using the V-Moda LP2's and they sound fantastic. They do need an amp to get the total feel but with Poweramp's equalizer, I have been pretty impressed.

Increase volume?

Is there anything that can increase the volume?
I have tried "Volume+" and other apps but they don't work.

Not only does the FX app have the ability to increase onboard speaker volume it is also an excellent audio tweaking app with equaliser etc.

Yea, it just installs as an app and when you open it, it installs the drivers itself. Being able to increase onboard speaker volume is a big plus for me too.
Oh awesome. I never was able to get it working before because of how complicated the mod was. If it is that easy now then I will be switching to it.

I installed it on my phone and it was saying that I didn't have Busybox installed, but I did. I got round it by installing the previous version of Busybox. Don't know what that was about but just a heads up for you.
Nice find! Thanks.
I've tried a few eq apps and mods and the improvements were marginal or worse. I'll give this a shot.
Unfortunately I do not see an option to enhance the speaker output after installing the Xhifi version (only for Headset and Bluetooth). So it looks like I am back to King BeatZ since I mainly use the speakers for things.
You need to install the FX version, not the xhifi one. Xhifi is only for headphones and hands-free device.
After installing the FX audio mod make sure to set it to compatibility mode if you don't notice any difference, at first.
Hope this helps!
Ya but I dont want the FX. That is mainly for as it says, FX on the audio. It does not try to restore lost audio quality from compression and such.

Just install Power Amp or similar and play with the equaliser. You'll find it eventually but, in looking, I'm sure you'll find settings that sound far better (unless you're tone deaf of course).
Can anyone assist? Any luck with installing bass beats on LG G2 from package or running system, instead of having it installed with system ?
Any news here ?
If you are rooted the best sound mod I have personally seen is Viper4Android... Amazing software that gives you the ability to adjust just as you want ....
If you aren't rooted then the only option you have is to install another app like Poweramp or another music player with built in good equalizer

this.
in the audio world, Bose stands for Buy Other Sound Equipment. They make high quality, proprietary audio equipment that's not compatible with other systems, and that is extremely overpriced. Their headphones and speakers are quality products, but you pay way too much for them.
Monster Cable makes overpriced audio cables. They are quality cables, but often needlessly so. there's absolutely no reason to buy a $100 hdmi cable. ever.
Beats by Dre is a combination of the two. Their headphones and speakers are of medium quality, tuned for deafening bass and terrible mids and highs, and sold at Bose prices. Their HTC Boom Sound software crap adjusts your phone's sound profile to match their ****ty headphones.
I would consider going deaf before using any Beats products.

Regarding viper 4 sound, I have no experience. however if the software requires root you may need to ensure the app is approved for root access in SuperUser or SuperSU. otherwise it will not have root access and will not be able to make any changes to the android system (ie it won't work)

I don't have that option. When I install V4A and Beats the standard music player on LG G2 with 4.4.2 activates it and it works.
Power Amp on LG G2 does not. I guess this is how I should start this thread but I just realised now. When I was using power amp on HTC with beats I had a button for Beats and SRS. No such thing in kit Kat for LG...
Is there a file or option in Android that I could modify and add power amp as a player ? The system must know when to activate sound processing when a music or movie player starts, but power amp does not activate it/is not on that list I guess...
Viper4android is actually a universal sound mod
So if it is activated any sound coming out of the phone will be altered by it , be it music or youtube video or anything else for that matter..
But since poweramp has its own equalizer you'll have to disable that and select viper4a in MusicFX in Tone/vol section
Btw which rom are you on? Because it worked for me on stock and cloudyflex but not on mahdi (viper4a doesnt affect poweramp)

Pure Nexus. Working perfectly.
I can't stand sound mods that involve more than one app. Just the other week I found something that looked promising, installed it, and then I had viper/Dolby/some Sony eq app/ and some terminal commands. I hated it. I don't see the point in it. Unless you have a few hundred dollars in any type of sound system, and even then most of the tuning can be done from amps/eq
The most Ill go is viper4android ALONE. and even when I do that, I have to modify my goto interactive governor tweaks to eliminate clipping and distortion when the screen turns off.

Try Arise. You will only need to set up V4A, nothing else. If you experience crackling with it, try sonophilo's setprop instead of the default one (instructions in the thread), it usually eliminates all distortions for me. And the quality on the "Numbers" release is hands down much superior to basic V4A installation (i am using also the optional Atmos add-on, i use it instead of v4a equalizer and it's better imo) .
the ARISE sound mod is working for me... it work mm like stock and pa and also works on android nougat
Arise numbers is the best I've used so far. Much better sound quality than just using V4A or ViperAtmos.

Installed the latest (Non systemless one) pretty sure it was version 7.9 or something.
And yeah the difference in what you can change, if you know what you are doing, it can sound amazing
Well they're not bad
Quite good
Can get more bass out of the stock player
And i noticed the sound also doesnt go over the normal volume limit which is nice
Do we have to use the stock music app to see some changes or it works with every music app (I've Soundcloud in mind) ?
Mwa, using 10 different audiomods is overkill. This is just a combination of 4 equalizers, 5 bass boosters, 6 sound enhancers and so on. It's true that a good sound mod can improve your sound a lot, but only if you use it in a clever way.
I used this for a while, but I removed these mods because this just doesn't work. It does give you a lot of extra bass and treble, but it also amplifies noise. Not just a little bit, but a lot. If you just stick to one mod (like Viper4Android) it's much better for your sound and you have more control.
I used to use this soundmod back on the Xperia Z2 that enhances bass and clarity, however it also became one of these "Supermods". Too many audio engines running would kill your battery (as to what I've read) and most of them overlapping would just give you a placebo effect. Good share though. I have been tempted to flash one of these supermods again, I guess I'll be holding back for now.
