[Help] My phone can log in to bootloader but can't start. - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Few days ago, while charging I found my phone can't load any app. I tried to restart and it stuck at Nexus logo screen. I think I've got boot loop situation, so I rebooted in to bootloader mode and tried to flash it's stock rom following efrant's guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/how-to-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2010312 but it failed.

Has anyone faced the same problem and know how to fix it? I'm afraid the main board has crashed but I can still boot in to bootloader so I really confused.

Recovery to a stock ROM may cause your phone lock again, please ensure you phone is in unlock status first (you may see an unlocked padlock at the bottom of the screen after power on), and try flash the recovery again.

Try to unlock it again,Install CWM and flash the original ROM into the machine.

Having and unlocked bootloader and not being able to flash the stock factory images is a bad sign. Usually it means a corrupted emmc chip. Can you send it to RMA?

So you've tried this unbrick method?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2072732&highlight=unbrick
If that doesn't work, you're in the line of people with similar problems, looking for a way to restore bootloader with nvFlash.

Sounds like you may have to reflash a complete stock factory image, including your bootloader. Those threads should be of help.

You should start over completely and make sure you have the right factory image and that all partitions are formatted etc. Start getting it to boot with stock image and locked bootloader, and take it from there.

After some serch i think it's bricked....only Jtag can fix it
Don't think its bricked. Try type "fastboot devices" in a command prompt in your fastboot folder. If it shows up under listed devices its not bricked. I've had this happen where just the file that makes the screen light up didn't get installed. Just have to reinstall the bootloader. No big deal.
Scratch that!
I'll buy it from you for $5

1)Already tryed that and the adb devices...no luck
2)Nothing is displayed on my n4 screen,absolutly black,but it's still on
3)my pc dose a sound when i connect/disconnect the phone
I found something
"Seems that while flashing that ROM you have managed to destroy parts of the Bootloader, wich finaly results in the device doing nothing. (Black Screen etc)
Partitialy you are right yes "QHS-USB Mode" means your device is hard bricked an in the so called QHS-USB Download Mode
but this mode is meant for vendors to flash bootloaders etc on the devices.
To access the device in a propper way u need some "non-public" tools wich QCOM usaly only supplies to vendors not to endusers!
Without thoose programs u will be not able to access the device in any way, even with thoose tools without the expierience and knowledge and files u need, i guess u will not be able to recover it yourself.
I do not want to risk some trouble with QCom at all so i do not can point u to the propper tools to use but i'm sure when using google u will be able to find out what tools i'm talking about.
In my mind the best way for you to recover that device is a JTAG
So my suggestion is to search for a JTAG in your region a JTAG in europe usaly is arround 30 euro but price can differ in your country"
So.....no luck till now,the phone is hardbricked.I'll send it monday to warranty, maybe they will fix it for free if not....then this is an excuse to buy N5

"fastboot" is part of the phone.
The only thing that matters is if it is unlocked or locked.
As people said, all you need is a RAW firmware and flash it.
It's very simple.
Here it is a RAW Firmware and use this tool to restore it.
Once you do that, you're good to send your phone to Asus.

Hi.
Your phone is now back to original state.
As you can see, sometimes it appears
Code:
(bootloader) secure device
There's no why to worry about "FAILED" on erase spare.
And, you can't remove droidboot, it's part of the phone.
Your phone is now ready to be sent to Asus.
Thanks.

As I said, droidboot is part of your phone, you can't simply remove it.
Your phone comes with that when you buy it.
What RMA checks is if it is unlocked or locked, and as you restored the RAW file, it is locked, which is the original state.
You can send your phone to ASUS without any worries.

Boot Up Question

Hi, I picked up this phone through a private sale and, while it works fine, I noticed a couple of things during boot up. This first flashed on the screen:

Then it went away and the following flashed on the screen:
Then it went to the main screen. Does this mean that something has been loaded onto the phone? What should I do to get it back to factory?
Thanks in advance.

The first screen indicates the bootloader is unlocked.
The second means you are not stock but running a custom ROM.
Back to stock -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/essential-phone/development/stock-7-1-1-nmj20d-t3701681
Thank you for the link. I checked it but I am not sure which file to download. Sorry, I am not very familiar with all of this and I am nervous about bricking my phone.

Plug your phone into your PC using a good USB 3.0 cable after you reboot into the bootloader (do this by holding down volume down and power button at once. Also, use a type a to c cable, the essential phone stock USB c to c cable doesn't work that well for flashing stuff).
Then install the drivers for this phone from here on a windows system: https://storage.googleapis.com/essential-static/Essential-PH1-WindowsDrivers.exe
Then install minimal adb and fastboot from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120698566
Then, download the latest back to stock zip from here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120698566
Unzip into the folder you installed minimal adb and fastboot into, and then open minimal adb and fastboot. In the command window that pops up, type "flash-all.bat && fastboot -w" and then hit enter. This will reflash all the stock partitions and wipe all data.
After you get the stock essential phone firmware booting, you can reboot into the bootloader and run "fastboot -w" and then "fastboot flashing lock" to relock the boatloader if you plan on keeping the stock unmodified firmware.
Credit goes to @aer0zer0 for the dump of the latest firmware.
Thank you so much. I followed the instructions and, while there were some nervous moments, managed to get it back to stock.
I can't believe the previous owner was such a jerk. I always return phones to full stock and relock the bootloader if I plan to sell a phone.

Hey no problem, always glad to help, especially since the situation you were in was caused by the previous owner not caring to flash stock and relock the bootloader before he sold you the phone. Seems like a careless thing to do, especially since he could've sold the phone to someone who wouldn't be tech savvy enough to restore stock.
The seller was really nice so I have a hard time calling him a jerk, but yeah, it was a careless thing to do. If it wasn't for this community I would probably have been screwed.
Thanks again everybody.

My LeEco Le Pro 3 restarts after 20 seconds.

I can enter in the fastboot but the usb debugging mode is not enabled so I can' t do anything.
Please, what is the solution ?

You can try to do a hard reset I hope does it but it could be hardware issue.
Sent from my SM-A730F using xda premium
The hard reset doesn't work because the phone reboots when I enter to the recovery mode.
Someone told me it may be because I let the phone go to 0%. Do you think it's possible? If that's right, what do you think I can do now?
Thank you

In that case leave it plugged in for a day and then retry reseting. You calibration could be out of whack.
If you are using the Leeco supplied usb C cable, replace it with a higher quality cable.
