So let's get started:
ROOT:
download a app called framaroot which is a one click root process...
The app will be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/framaroot/root-framaroot-one-click-apk-to-root-t2130276
The procedure and the app will be provided
Reboot your device..
FLASHING A CUSTOM RECOVERY :
Step 1 :
once you have got root access download mobile uncle tools
Here is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697236
Step 2 :
Pls download the specified recovery you want to flash . it should be compatible with your device... (you might want to download es file Explorer for managing your files easily)
Step 3:
Now open mobile uncle tools and go to recovery update and then choose it recovery. img
Step 4:
it will tell you to reboot your phone and then you are done with flashing the recovery... U can also flash it using so flash tools using the computer..
Step 5:
Now after rebooting your phone just power it off and press and hold volume up and power button(different for different devices for my xolo q700i this Is the procedure)
Step 6:
U will now boot into recovery mode.... And it specific recovery will be displayed..... Just reboot ur phone using recovery mode (I hope u can do that atleast)
HOW TO FLASH CUSTOM ROMS:

Now follow the instructions told to you by the person who added the rom for your device(usually it is wipe dalvik cache and factory reset) then just go to select zip option..

**its cognition...my mistake
Start at the beginning by reading the instructions on the roms pages they are on post one .
You require a rooted phone with CWM as the easiest method .
But as you give no indication of current firmware all i can say is install root and CWM from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Use OXA KG2 from post 4 .
Instructions - ODIN
- Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
- Unzip the attached CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.zip
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start ODIN
- Click the PDA button, and select CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.tar
- Put your phone in download mode
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure repartition is NOT checked
- Click the START button
- Wait for the phone to reboot
FOLLOW that by the instructions from Cognition post ,
Installation Instructions:
I highly recommend flashing the full rom! (updates can be unpredictable)
(If you have problems with the update version, flash the full rom instead)
BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!
Download the rom zip from below (don't rename it!)
Put the downloaded zip file on your internal sdcard
Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery (don't do this from rom manager, it won't work)
Select Install zip from sdcard
Select Browse for zip on sdcard
Select the zip file you put on your sdcard above
(Let it flash)
Reboot, WAIT Enjoy!
Ignore yellow rom warning triangle at boot .
Best to source a USB jig to remove this .
jje
That was very nice of you, JJEgan.
what do u mean by that "Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery (don't do this from rom manager, it won't work)"?
what is it and where i do that?
ty so much for your help
Turn off the phone, hold <vol up> <power> and <home> buttons at the same time to boot into ClockworkMod Recovery.
Make sure your phone is rooted first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
plz man i'm stuck in the last step....how i install the cognition 1.31 via ClockworkMod Recovery ?
If you try and carry out a task without knowing how then all you will get is trouble . If you cannot read then you will be in even deeper trouble .
You dont seem to be able to follow the roms instructions nor the instructions i posted .
Read my post again i can do no more than tell you how i cannot do it for you .

[GUIDE]Fix unknown serial ROOT stock ics w/o binary incr/cfw flash guide !

hi guys this is my first post i'd expect you all to go easy on me if i make any mistakes, but i have tested it on my international s2 and this method works fine ! this will give you root access and allow you to install all sorts tweaks and custom roms without triggering the binary count !! yep that's right !!
WHAT THIS GUIDE IS GOOD FOR :
*Clean install of ICS.
*Gaining root access with custom kernel flash or increase binary count. NO YELLOW TRIANGLE !
*FIX FOR UNKNOWN SERIAL NUMBER.
*Sorta detailed guide for installing cm9 or any other custom rom.
here's what you need :
*odin 1.85 [link attached]
*check fus downloader . [link attached]
*official stock samsung i9100 ics firmware for your country/region[ in my case it was i9100xwlp7_tml_blabla] get it using check fus downloader.
*cwm.zip [attached]
*your kernel of choice that supports both sammy and aosp/aokp [my preferred is siyah 3.3.2 if you need cwm manager ]
*cwm flashable rom/addon zip.
l
*20 minutes at max.
before you proceed here's a how-to to download stock ics firmware using check fus downloader.
launch the application.on the standard tab on the right side select android from the drop down menu.select gt-i9100 from the devices list and finally the region where you live.then on the left side click check firmware. it will take a few moment and finally a download button will appear in the bottom. press it and wait patiently as it finishes downloading.usually takes about 20-25 mins depending on your connection.
once downloading is finished or if you already have it downloaded, read on:
1. boot into download mode to flash stock firmware if you are not running official samsung ics. if you're running stock firmware then skip step 1. this also fixes the cm9 no serial number issue.
2.flash with odin the official firmware.
3.wait for the phone to boot up automatically.set up and connect the phone again to your PC.
4.after getting detected switch phone to mass storage mode.copy the attached cwm.zip to your external SD card. Also copy your desired cfw like cm9 rc1 in my case and gapps if needed.
5.now disconnect and turn your phone off.reboot into default android recovery using vol up+home+power button combo. let go off the power button once you see the Samsung gt i9100 boot logo.
6.once you successfully manage to get into android 3e recovery, select apply update from external storage and flash the cwm.zip.immidietly your phone will reboot into cwm recovery. this will give you temporary recovery access to flash your phone. if you reboot from this step you will loose your cwm and you will have to repeat the step 3-4 to get it back.
7.once into cwm,choose wipe data/factory reset.
8.then wipe cache partition.
9.go to mounts and storage and format system and data and cache. [this is necessary for a fresh cfw install, it will also ensure your cfw will function correctly.]
10.go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache, wipe battery stats to ensure your battery gauge is reading correctly and there are no previous kernel remnants.
10.then press power button to come back to main menu and select install zip from sd card.
11.choose your rom from sd card and wait till it finishes flashing.
12.reboot your phone once done.
if your rom comes with gapps then your flashing process ends here.if not or if you want flash modem or a different kernel then read on.replace gapps mentioned below with your desired package and the rest of the process are the same.
13.set up your rom.
14.press and hold the power button and select recovery from the reboot sub menu.
15.once back into cwm flash gapps/kernel/modem/add on package.
16.once finished go to advanced and select fix permissions. [necessary in case of gapps, other wise not needed]
17.reboot and you're done
Enjoy your newly rooted and flashed phone with no binary increase ! :highfive:
just to make sure there is no binary count increase, turn off your phone.press vol down+power+menu and get into download mode.you will see it reads binary as official samsung.
Hope this guide helps.please follow the steps i mentioned. i will not be held responsible for any damage caused to your phone but i believe there won't be any as I tried and tested it myself on my i9100 after a faulty flashable zip messed my phone up.please press the like button if i could help you.
please leave a comment if you need further help. I will not be attending pms at the moment.thanks !
disclaimer : i did not make the cwm package nor any of the packages i mentioned above.credit goes to the respective devs.thanks to chainfire, codeworkx and teamhacksung for their wonderful contribution.
zip files include work of other respective devs.please donate and give thanks to them for their work.
press thanks for this guide if this helped you
Think i have seen a post pretty much like this before but there isnt many posts about rooting and installing cwm for ics s2 other than cf root. Very handy for the newbies

I actually don't understand why these junior members want to do nothing but just start a new thread
As mentioned there are already guides for root ect within this section. Having numerous amount of these threads only adds clutter to the forums and such threads are marked as duplicates. For this reason i'm closing the thread.

(ROOT) (CUSTOM RECOVERY) FOR MOTO G 1st GEN

Hello, guys this is my first post but i am quite sure that my methods work.If there any problems then u can surely ask in the section below. This thread will be a GUIDE TO ROOT AND INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY FOR MOTO G 1st Gen users.
Some prerequisites are:
1. Motorola drives (https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481)
2.Fastboot and recovery files (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9jf2va51ffg0pzq/AAAxDT-ETf7AESIcHGnfEgv7a?dl=0)
[ Let these files be downloaded and kept in Cdrive of ur pc and and place them on the desktop.. Please name this folder MOTO FILES]
3. SuperSu files https://download.chainfire.eu/696/supersu/ and[/url] paste it in ur phones internal memory and please do this after unlocking the bootloader cause bootloader unlocking will delete everything so its better to do it after unlocking bootloader
Download these files and ur done... Now lets continue to the fun part
This process involves three very simple steps :
1. Unlocking the Bootloader:-
This process is infact very easy to do. There are several guides on the internet regarding this process but the one that i suggest is by High On Android/ Max Lee . Follow his method and u can very easily unlock ur bootlader. Copy this url and see it for urself fellow guys...http://highonandroid.com/android-smartphones/how-to-unlock-bootloader-on-motorola-android-smartphone
2. Erasing ur previous recovery and installing a new one and rooting ur phone all in one process
Some users have been reporting that even after installing custom recovery , whenever they go into recovery they enter into stock recovery. The actual problem is that the stock rom of the Moto G rewrites over the new custom recovery installed.
So we have to install the recovery actually twice but it only takes a few minutes
i) Firstly be sure to have lots of juice in your phone
ii) Boot ur phone into the bootloader by power offing ur device and then pressing the volume down and power button together for 10 seconds and then leaving both of them together.
iii) Now connect ur device to ur pc/laptop
iv) Now open a cmd and enter the following commands(press enter after every command)
- cd Desktop
-cd MOTO FILES
-fastboot flash recovery Recovery2.img
-fastboot reboot-bootloader
[MAKE SURE NOT TO REBOOT UR DEVICE ]
v) Now ur phone has custom recovery installed in it and u shud now enter into recovery mode by choosing the option from the bootloader, by pressing volume down and then volume up while in bootloader mode.
vi) This will open the Philz recovery that i have provided with. I prefer the philz recovery over the cwm one. Now go on and install the SuperSu update zip file. And BOOM ur Device is now rooted !!!!.
vii) Now reboot ur phone and u must install
-ROOT CHECKER (to check root)
- and most importantly ROOT EXPLORER
viii) After following step (vii), now if u try to go into recovery, u will be booted to stock recovery. So to prevent that use the ROOT EXPLORER app and go to the root \system\etc and delete the file named install-recovery.sh .
ix) After deleting the file u will once again have to follow step (iv) and install custom recovery this will ensure u having custom recovery even after rebooting ur device and u will have ROOT access as well
On which android version , were you on before rooting . 5.01 or 5.1 .
This method works for both 5.1 and 5.01

if u want to install twrp recovery and u have its file then i will suggest u to use my method that i have given above and instead writing the command
fastboot flash recovery Recovery2.img u can change it to fastboot flash recovery [name of the recovery file, dont forget the .img at the end]. Thats all u have to do. I saw that video prior to installing custom recovery in my phone too and noticed that his link was broken thats how i figured out my method of installing custom recovery. Its very easy. just follow the steps. :good::good::good:

Once i finished steps all, When i open SuperSU, popup window says, "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install in it. This is the Problem!
If you just upgraded to android 5.0, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device!
Plz help me on this....
if i check with root checker,
Sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device
Works but could be simplified
Thanks for this useful post. I've just followed the instructions to root my XT1032 Stock Lollipop 5.1, and they work. However, I have a few comments:
[1] I had already installed Motorola Device Manager on my (Windows 7) PC, plus 'Minimal ADB and Fastboot'. This was sufficient – I didn't need to download the files in your prerequisite 2.
[2] You can use any compatible recovery image. I prefer TWRP, so downloaded openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-xt1032.img.
[3] The SuperSu zip file you've linked to is out of date. The current one is version 2.46 (for Lollipop).
[4] After flashing SuperSu it's advisable to wipe the cache and Dalvik cache.
[5] Root Checker showed that BusyBox wasn't installed, so I downloaded Stephen Erickson's BusyBox installer from the Play Store. This is an essential step, as most programs requiring root won't work without BusyBox. Perhaps it could be added to the OP?
[6] You don't need to use Root Explorer – any root-compatible file manager will do. I prefer Total Commander.
[7] Having deleted (or in my case renamed) install-recovery.sh and then rebooted, I didn't need to go back to step iv and reinstall the custom recovery; in my case TWRP was still there. I think your step ix is unnecessary; at least it's worth checking which recovery you have.
I hope these points are useful and not too nit-picking!

How to root and flash recoveries!
Its just easy mate, first of all youll need a PC, Odin3, and a USB Cable. Download SuperSU zip file on the chainfire website in youre phone, download TWRP or CWM recovery tar file on a specific thread, install Odin3 on any website (You need working one), so after downloading those youll need to turn off and put your phone in Download Mode or Odin mode which is for Samsung. Connect the phone into the PC and open Odin3, after opening youll see buttons which includes AP or PDA. Select it and choose the tar file and turn off any settings if told on instructions of installation, after setting those flash and once its done and shows "PASS!" remove battery for 10 secs if told and set your phone on recovery. Select install zip and choose the SuperSU zip file on the download location and BOOM! Youre done mate.
