UPDATE PhotoSphere works after clearing data (One does not have a gyroscope?) - ONE General

UPDATE!! PhotoShpere is working after install if you delete data from apps menu and reboot! Still not sure on why the Gyroscope is not showing up on Sensor Kinetics. BUT IT WORKS!
Admin, could you change the title of the post? Thanks
Steps to get working
Swipe down from top right of phone
Click Settings
Scroll down and click Apps
Find Camera and click it.
Click Clear data
Reboot
Once the phone has restarted relaunch Camera and swipe from the right. PhotoSphere is there now.
----------
Tested Google Camera and discovered the photo sphere feature is missing. Did some digging and it turns out Google Camera use the gyroscope for this feature and possibly the pano feature as well.
I checked the sensors and we are indeed missing a gyroscope.

This does not mean the One is a terrible phone. It simply means this is one area that was more than likely left out to help keep price down.
I will update as I find more information.

If anyone can shed some light on this. Does it have one and its not being picked up or is it simply missing and using some other method?
Thanks

Wow I can't believe that this would miss. Got the Moto G without gyroscope and sometimes I missed that feature so my next phone should have that. Can you please ask about it in the OPO forum? I would love to know this now.

gsm arena has listed it here

Thanks I'm Sputnik24 from the OP-Forum
Unfortunately, the features can be gone after a next reboot, so you have to do this again. Quite annoying, but a software issue. So there should be a bug fix.

It does have a gyroscope according to cpu-z

That's strange. Although, on this page, it shows that OPO does have a gyroscope. http://oneplus.net/one#specifications

There was some debate on this in the OP forums...
A detailed view indicates there is a 'Gravity' sensor and a Geomagnetic Rotation Vector. Basically, Gravity sensor tells it where down is and the other one gives info on any offset motion from 'down'. So it essentially knows any position it is in, making it a gyro. I think the function is there but they're pulling data from 2 different sensors and neither reports it is a gyroscope. Just guessing here...

Install the latest update OTA and the gyroscope is visible also the Google camera photosphere option is working now.

Compass recalibration trick

Hey .. maybe I found something new.
As far as I know you can't force compass recalibration. I only saw the screen first time I run the compass app. Even magnets close to my HD2 wont show the screen.
And it seems it would be needed. My compass very often shows clearly wrong heading.
And now the trick .. the recalibration works all the time, even without the screen ! Simply do the 8 move .. and the compass will start to show correct heading !
I'm running 1.43 rom btw.
When doing 8move, do you keep phone in vertical or horizontal position? Or does it matter at all?
It's easier to show then to describe:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP3d00Hr14o
Though I do it a bit slower.
Now I found there are more methods. Clearly nobody really understands what's going on. But this method above works for me.
got it, thanks
wait what? How is this a trick? HTC compas clearly says to do this if its not calibrated. What is going on around there?
I was hoping this thread was going to be a way of starting the compass without geting that annoying calibration screen.

Then you didn't read the thread... The OP was saying that sometimes even if the compass wasn't saying calibration was needed, it would show wrong resullts, so he was looking for a way to "force" calibration.
I work with industrial electronic compasses, and calibrating them usually involves turning them in all "3D" directions so that they can register max/min values on all axes. I do the same with my HD2 and it works well.
Yes .. the 'trick' is in that you don't have to see the screen and recalibration work all the time, not only after showing the screen.
It don't work
I tried to hard resset and many other things. There's no way of Digital Compass work for me. When I move the phone as 8, the maximum I get is a blank screen. (maybe it's because flip it software) but no mather how I try, never could use digital compass.
Anyone has a tip, a cab, or anything to help me make it work ? Thank you
Compass Device Sensor
Hi llucas
There is a software call "Z-DeviceTest" in google play store , it is a free app , you can download and check what sensors are avaiable in your device. If you have compass in your device, you should get "Tick" (refer -> device1.jpg ) on the compass Icon , if not you will get a"X Cross" (refer -> device2.jpg ) on the compass icon.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Night Mode photos?

my phone hasn't arrive yet, so i can't check it myself
Can some one check in the stock Camera software to see if it has the Night Mode option?
if not, we should get a port over of the SGS camera App.apk which offers very good Night Mode even at near dark conditions
Thanks!

Nope, no night mode. I did love that feature on my Vibrant as the flash will only work a certain distance. The camera app is the same (or at least looks it) as the stock builds for N1 or Cyanogen Mods. I would love to keep my stock camera, but add the SGS camera as a secondary app.
thanks! for the confirmation.
okay, time to dig out the APK and files related to the stock SGS camera

and that is exactly the reason why i prefer the Night Mode, than a flash
the only use i have for the Flash is to use it as a flash lite to look for stuff in a dark room

If you're gonna pull it, any way for you to name it something like SGScamera and post it up here? That way perhaps we can get it working in conjunction with the stock. I also loved the tap to focus, which stock doesn't have unfortunately.
I think you'll get the same issue as when trying to pull the browser from the i9000; it won't run due to incompatibilities between froyo and gingerbread.
There are a few bits Samsung put in later galaxy s roms that would be nice to see in gingerbread. Its open source so why not?

HUH? THERE IS NIGHT MODE.
Click the right most (or upper most) button, scroll down to "scene mod" and select NIGHT.
Only issue is, the camera preview slows to a crawl, but thats probably normal.
this camera/phone has some of the best low light and night pictures i have ever seen from a phone
Wow..hot damn. I'm sorry for the misinformation. I tried scrolling down in that menu the very first time I opened it and it didn't work, so I figured that was all. Thanks for the correction!!

[Q] camera g-sensor orientation issue.

Hello everybody.
I just bought note 4, but i found a stupid issue, the g-sensor in camera is wrong calibrated.
When i hold the phone vertically, the spot in surround mode or virtual tour shows wrong place.
P.S.
My device is new without root.
Tried other same devices, same issue. Others doesn't.
I tried sensor calibration apps. No result.

Any idea?
Does Surround mode even work in vertical position? I assume you have no problem using it horrizontaly.
I thought I replied to this, but I don't see the reply anymore
That's normal... it just means your camera isn't level - move it up to the circle and it'll start taking pictures .

I don't think he wants an up - down surround, but rather a left - right.

Surround mode will do up, down, left, and right - it's a 360 pano, like PhotoSphere. If you just need a left-right pano, then use Panoramic mode :good:

No worries - that said, I had an update for both the panoramic mode and surround mode through the Galaxy App store in the past few days. Not sure what they fixed or if it works better - no changelog.
Thanks to all for replies.. but the problem that it must shoot at vertical. I can move up. But in virtual mode it will shoot sky..
I think the problem in the calibration if sensors

[PROBLEM] proximity sensor isn't working anymore!

Hi all
I'm on tw lollipop with root permissions and since some days my proximity sensor isn't working!
On call when I put my phone near my ear the screen won't turn off, but for example if I use air gestures for skipping tracks on music player it works. Trying a tester found on the play store, the proximity sensor is still far even if I put my finger on it. Dialing *#0*# shows me this:

}
Consider that numbers in ADC (idk what they are) increase to from ~100 to 1000 when I get close with the finger
Someone can please help me solving this? Thanks
lolipop is trash.
get back on kitkat :good:and no probs for you!!
I'm on CM12. Proximity sensor does work. 8cm uncovered. 0cm covered. Tested with sensor sense app. While I was on KK I calibrated it with some ADB commands I googled. Before the calibration it never was 'uncovered' (after callling I could not hang up, because screen remained dark). Always these problems with sensors....
Proximity sensor, GPS sensor and compass sensor is s**t on note 3.
Hi all.
Just solved using terminal thanks to a xda user. Now it perfectly works, please close the thread
Regards
Can you please share what you did to fix the proximity sensor. I seem to have the same problem after upgrading to TW Lolipop. Thanks

[TIP] Enable Hidden Reading Mode in OnePlus 3/3T

Hi everyone!
I've found that the OnePlus 5's "Reading Mode", which has been exclusive to the OP5 from the start, has been integrated in the latest OOS 5.0 Update for the OnePlus 3/3T but is still hidden, as expected so that this can remain an exclusive to the OP5/5T

Here's how to access the hidden settings:-
I used Nova Launcher Prime for doing this.
1. Add a Nova Launcher Activity by going into widgets.
2. Scroll down to Settings & then find "Reading Mode" & select that.
Now by clicking on that created Activity, you can access the hidden Reading Mode settings

This is great! And OnePlus said that this feature won't make it to OP3/3T via a SW update because of hardware shortcomings. I'm not sure why would they do this..

Yes they did I believe they added this mode by mistake in the OOS build for the 3/3T. I wish the new 5T's Face Unlock implementation also arrives for our 3/3T

Thanks!! Awesome work. :good::good:
This doesn't really work as it should.
We lack a hardware sensor, RGB ambient light sensor.
So what we get is basically Night mode with the Monochromatic profile.
The real deal should adapt the color of the display to the color temperature of the surroundings.
This was already possible to achieve without this entry, by enabling both the features I mentioned.
But congrats on the find. :good:
OOS ROMs are getting as stuffed as a turkey on Thanksgiving.
Thats a great find bro. Thanks for sharing
Didn't work for me.
Whenever I switch in reading mode. It goes grey for 1 second and then back to normal! Any solution?
